Prologue
It all began on Halloween night, in the the streets children and adults alike were singing and trick or treating, making the most of the beautiful night. It was all fun and games, everyone was enjoying themselves without a worry in the world. That is… for the non magicals of the world, no, the Magicals on the other hand have a civil war to deal with, but despite it being a war that could lead to the deaths of many innocent lives, no one besides a select few individuals were willing to do what was right, instead of what was easy.
Cowards hiding and cowering in fear as they see the first sight of the infamous opposition of the Magical government.
But on this Halloween night, the leader of the opposition known as the Death Eaters want to rid the magical world of what they call Mudblood, individuals who are born from non magicals and they consider those who are a first generation magical user or half blood, Magicals who are people born from a magical and a first generation magical or as they call Mudblood.
Then there are the Purebloods, those of magical origin and the only way to be considered pureblood is to have your parents and grandparents all be magical, and most of the time great grandparents.
But on this day the leader known as Voldemort or for those who fear that name, You-Know-Who is in front of a home where two children that were destined to defeat her slept.
Voldemort personally decided to kill them herself to avoid a prophecy which was told during an interview and was overheard by her Potions Master, Severus Snape.
Making her way towards the front door, Voldemort flicks her wand, blasting the door open, sending it flying as it was removed from its hinges from her power. As Voldemort entered the home, she cocked an eyebrow as she saw one of her biggest nuisances standing before her was James Potter, a pureblood of the Potter family.
James glared at Voldemort, fists clenched tightly as he was defenceless, without a wand and no way to use Magic but he was ready to do what he could to stall Voldemort.
"Lily go, protect Hadrian and Rose" He yelled out as he stood in front of Voldemort with defiance in his eyes.
He is a blood traitor, but despite that fact, James Potter is still a pureblood. *sigh* it's sad for such ancient families to perish by my hand. But I already spilt a lot of blood, if I continue to do so then the Magical World could be in danger of collapsing Voldemort thought as she sent a stunner towards James who rolled under the spell, instinct taking over the Pureblood's body resulting in him hitting his head on the wall of the corridor, leaving himself open. Without hesitation Voldemort aimed her wand at James, sending a stunner at him. As James Potter went unconscious, Voldemort sighed as she walked over his unconscious body.
As Voldemort made her way upstairs to the baby's room, she heard the door to the baby room slam. Releasing a resigned sigh, Voldemort flicked her wand, sending a silent reducto at the door.
BOOM
The door exploded and a yell of fear echoed from inside. Stepping over the remains of the door, Voldemort saw the mother of the one destined to destroy her. Lily Potter nee Evans stood before the crib, tears in her eyes but determination shining within.
Voldemort glared at the red headed woman and aimed her wand at the mother.
"Stand aside" Voldemort order Lily
Lily shook her head
"No, not my babies. Kill me instead, just spare my babies" She begs as tears slid down her face.
No matter how afraid she was, Lily Potter wanted nothing more than to protect her children with her life.
Voldemort's grip on her wand tightened as he mind was in turmoil
Every single Mudblood I had ever met had wanted nothing more than to change the Wizarding World to their image. To destroy our culture and our history because they saw it is 'barbaric'. To make our world into theirs. Those bastards even had the audacity to demand that we hand family grimoires to them because it had Magic that was created by other Magicals. Doesn't matter if it was Family Magic, all those Mudbloods wanted what was ours. But out of all the Mudbloods, no one had anything truly bad to say about Lily Potter. Severus Snape had taught her of all our culture and she had accepted it and understood it. She is different from those Mudbloods, she truly understands us Voldemort thought to herself, With her mind set, Voldemort sent a silent stunner at Lily causing the young mother to fall unconscious, landing on the ground with a loud thud.
At that moment, a cry echoed through the room. With her attention now towards the crib, Voldemort began walking towards the crib and looked down. Within the crib were two babies, the first was Rose Potter, lying on her back and crying over her mother getting stunned. Baby Rose has her mothers beautiful crimson red hair and her beautiful emerald green eyes. And then there was the second baby. Hadrian Potter or Harry for short, had raven black hair like his father but the same emerald green eyes gained from his mother that shined like the killing curse. As Voldemort stared at Hadrian, she tilted her head slightly as she noticed that for some odd reason he was looking at her with a hint of intelligence that would not belong to a baby and the fact that he was oddly quiet.
Voldemort took a deep breath, knowing exactly who it was that was destined to defeat her.
The amount of magic emanating from both children impressed Voldemort, but she noticed that the young boy's magic was darker and more powerful compared to Rose who was only slightly weaker and had Magic that emanated light as if she was a Protonus while Hadrian's seemed closer to a Dementor despite not having the coldness generated from those disgusting Demons.
"Hello child, it would seem you are destined to defeat me. I wish I didn't have to kill you. I could see all the great things you could have accomplished with the power you wield. But I must do this" Voldemort says. Taking a deep breath, Voldemort prepared herself to kill the Male Potter only to freeze as Hadrian nodded his head.
Voldemort was in shock, her eyes widening slightly as she looked down at Hadrian.
"Can you understand me?" Voldemort asked in disbelief, her shock increased as she received a nod from the young boy.
Voldemort took a deep breath, her hesitance in killing the young boy grew the more she looked at him.
I have to do this. I can't let one child stop my goal, Voldemort thought but a slight tear welled up in her eye.
Quickly wiping it off, Voldemort took a deep shuddering breath.
"I am truly sorry, your loss of life will forever sadden me, but it must be done to maintain the magical world from those who seek to change everything it stands for" Voldemort says to the young boy, who then pulls himself up to stand in his crib and looks Voldemort straight in the eyes before closing his eyes.
How can a child so young be so intelligent and understanding? How can one just a year into their life accept death? Voldemort wondered, saddened.
Shaking her head, Voldemort looked down at the young boy who was accepting their death.
I will give you a painless death. Hadrian Potter Voldemort thought to herself as her wand then began to glow green,
The same colour as his eyes Voldemort thought before quickly shaking her head, determination in her beautiful crimson eyes.
"Avada Kedavra" Voldemort yells out as a curse of emerald green launches out of her wand and hits Hadrian, at that moment everything froze. As the curse struck Hadrian, the world distorted and the curse was flung back at Voldemort at incredible speed.
What!? Voldemort thought in shock as her body disintegrates and she finds herself in the room floating. Voldemort looked around and saw her robe and wand laying on the floor.
He deflected the Killing Curse!? Voldemort thought in complete shock.
Looking at the boy, Voldemort frowned as she saw the confusion in the baby boy's eyes.
"Sowy" Hadrian apologizes. With a critical eye, Voldemort stares at the child and sees genuine remorse in his beautiful green eyes.
Guess miracles can happen Voldemort thought to herself.
Smiling slightly at Hadrian, Voldemort shook her head, knowing that the young boy didn't intend to stop her as she noticed the tears welling up in the young boy's eyes.
"Don't worry about it, just please don't stand in my way. I have to fix the Wizarding World… Before it is too late" Voldemort says as she flies off but not before noticing the glowing eyes of both twins.
The child has a lot of potential and the fact that he survived the curse is proof enough, but is it a self fulfilling prophecy? Now that I think about it, there are nearly no true prophecies besides one or two within a few centuries and the rest are just self fulfilling Voldemort thought as she flew away.
But as she flies away an image of a young man with the same green eyes and raven black hair stood in a world covered in chaos and destruction. The sky was red and the clouds black as the night floating above him.
Surrounding the young man were monsters of great size, laying on the ground, blood seeping from their bodies, their limbs torn off and giant holes pierced through their bodies.
Voldemort felt her eyes widen and a blush slightly form on her ghostly face as the young man smirked at her.
Soon the man and the world disappears, leaving Voldemort floating in the air, her face completely red as she remembers the handsome man smirking at her.
Was that him? It can't be… Right? Voldemort thought, recognising the same green eyes and raven black hair. And as Voldemort flew across the night, she would have never thought that one day, she would belong to Hadrian Potter.
-Break-
Dumbledore found himself gasping and heaving as he ran across the street, before the old man was a broken home as the roof was on the verge of collapsing.
Despite the aching in his bones, Dumbledore took another deep breath as he ran into the house. The home of the Potters.
Fear and despair dominated Dumbledore's thoughts causing panic to rise within him as he heard complete silence within the Potter Cottage.
"Lily, James!" Dumbledore calls out to his two favourite students in horror and worry, looking around he sees James lying on the ground unconscious.
Dumbledore gasps and runs towards the young father.
"James!" Dumbledore yells in worry as he reaches James and begins checking the state of his ex-student.
Oh thank Merlin Dumbledore thought, sighing in relief as he saw that James was still alive before rennervating him.
James then gasps, eyes opening immediately as James sits up looking around in confusion as he sees Albus Dumbledore standing before him.
James was about to question the headmaster until his eyes widen with fear and worry as the young father began to panic
"Albus, Where are Lily, Rose and Harry?" James asks, tears building up in his eyes as the worst comes to mind.
Dumbledore places a calming hand on James' shoulder, helping the young man to calm down and take a deep breath.
"I don't know, let's go look in the nursery" Dumbledore says calmly, but the hints of worry in his voice didn't reassure James.
But with a nod from the young father, both James and Albus headed upstairs, making their way towards the nursery to see Lily laying on the floor, her eyes closed.
"Lily!" Both Dumbledore and James exclaim
Both men run towards the beautiful redhead, kneeling beside her with worry.
Checking Lily, Dumbledore sighs in relief and looks at James, a small smile on his face.
"She's just stunned, just like you were" Dumbledore says with a relieved smile
James let out a small laughter of relief as tears slid down his face.
His wife was alive and safe, unharmed.
Just then they hear crying from the crib. Smiling brightly at hearing the child, Dumbledore stands up and looks into the crib to see little Rose squirming under her blanket while Hadrian lies beside her, sleeping peacefully.
"Dumbledore!" Dumbledore hears Lily exclaim, surprised.
Lily then stands up and practically runs to Dumbledore, fear and worry in her eyes only to change into relief and happiness when seeing both her children alive and well.
Lily picks both babies up, holding onto them tightly.
"Oh my babies" Lily cried, both babies pressed against her chest as she sobbed, happy that her children were alive.
Dumbledore smiles at the scene as James joins, hugging his wife along with his children as the both of them cry out of happiness. But then Dumbledore looked off to the side as he noticed Voldemort's cloak and wand laying on the ground.
Dumbledore tilted his head in confusion, Albus kneeled down and gasped in surprise as he saw the items in question, his eyes widening in shock and realisation.
"Professor Dumbledore, is that?" Lily asks, shocked as the both of them stare at the items in question.
"It is" Dumbledore confirms with a nod "And one of the twins took out Voldemort" Dumbledore says with a sad smile
For neither can live while the other survives… Please let it be Voldemort who loses Dumbledore hoped with every fibre of his being as he remembered the prophecy. 'and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives'. Dumbledore didn't like that part of the prophecy, he hoped that Hadrian or Rose wouldn't have to die to defeat Voldemort.
"I think Rose is the one who did it, see she's still awake and has a lightning bolt scar" James says gesturing to the crying child.
Dumbledore sighs, looking at the children. Despite the lightning bolt mark on Rose's forehead, Dumbledore couldn't be sure.
"Maybe it is young Hadrian" Dumbledore comments, shrugging with uncertainty
"I don't think so, see he's still asleep and he doesn't have a mark" Lily says while still holding the sleeping child.
Dumbledore stared at Hadrian, the old man noticed that the young baby boy seemed tired, not a mark on him. While Rose seemed lively and active with a lightning bolt scratch on her forehead.
'And the Dark Lord will mark them as her equal, but they will have power the Dark Lord knows not'.
Them? Can it be both? But Hadrian doesn't have a mark. Could it be about both twins or could it be about a single twin? Dumbledore questioned himself.
But knowing that everyone will discover about Voldemort's defeat he decided to pick the most logical answer.
"Then I believe that young Rose is the one who had defeated Voldemort" Dumbledore says, despite the gut feeling that it wasn't as cut and dry as that.
-Time Skip-
Time has passed since Voldemort's defeat.
As the world celebrated the Dark Lord's defeat, the people had begun to call Rose The-Girl-Who-Lived. Eventually it was Hadrian and Rose's second birthday, everyone who was there celebrating the twins' birthday were mainly there for Rose.
While Hadrian on the other hand was merely an extra to his own birthday party in the eyes of the majority of the guests. Due to this, both Lily and James believed that it would be best for Hadrian to have a separate birthday party with only his family, while Rose had a public birthday so all the people who came to see the Girl-Who-Lived won't ruin Hadrian's birthday.
The idea was great, only that after Rose's birthday party they were too tired from all the preparation and handling the invites that they would be too tired the next day to do anything, causing them to forget about young Hadrian who after the events of Halloween never received presents or a birthday party with his loved ones.
As time passed on, the once adorable Potter twins who were attached together to the hip were now separating, With Rose always having her parents' attention she would fail to notice the lack of interaction she had with her brother.
Slowly as the next year went on, she spent more and more time with her parents while her brother was slowly being forgotten by both her and her parents.
And after two years since Halloween it was now the twins' third birthday.
As Hadrian looked down at the birthday cake, he felt tears forming in his eyes as it only had Rose's name on it. But taking a deep breath, Hadrian smiled hoping that the next day would be about him.
But as the next day passed, Hadrian was heartbroken as his parents were too tired from cleaning up the decorations to remember Hadrian's birthday. As Hadrian hid away in sadness from being forgotten. Rose smiled as she played with her toys, unknowing of the pain that both she and her parents were inflicting on her twin and she would fail to notice until it was too late.
As Hadrian sat in his room all alone, forgotten once more by everyone except the House Elves who fed Hadrian as his family laughed at the dining table, having fun while Hadrian remained forgotten. Sitting in silence, before Hadrian knew it, it was soon his and Rose's 4th birthday, and once more Hadrian cried in his room. Pleading to anyone who could hear to whisk him away, so that he may never have to return to those who forgot him. And with those final thoughts Hadrian laid his head on his pillow as he succumbed to sleep. His soft breathing as he felt the warmth of his blanket, and for the first time, sleeping peacefully since Halloween night, after being forgotten and tormented by nightmares.
-Break-
With a tired groan, Hadrian opens his eyes to see himself surrounded by darkness, the very world around him engulfed with darkness and no light in sight. Shaking with fear Hadrian looked around, he was alone. There was nothing to see, nothing to hear. It was empty. As tears begin to well up in Hadrian's eyes he begins to see a bright light in the corner of his emanating from behind him.
Slowly turning around, his posture tense and fear in his eyes. Hadrian finally turns completely and is greeted by what seems to be light in the shape of a woman.
"Hello Hadrian Fleamont Potter, I see that you don't want to live with your family anymore" The woman says, her voice holding hints of sadness.
Hadrian looked at the woman shaped light cautiously before slowly nodding his head, confirming the woman's statement.
The young boy frowned, his eyes filled with unnatural intelligence behind his emerald green eyes, the young boy's hand clenched tightly as he looked down.
"They don't love me, they only care about my sister. If I disappear I bet that they won't care" Hadrian states bitterly
Hadrian then hears the woman sigh, confused Hadrian looks up to see the woman gaze at him with pure white eyes.
"Are you sure of this?" The girl asks hopeful that he will decline
Hadrian scoffed and shook his head, as if she said the stupidest thing he had ever heard.
"Yes, if I disappear I bet they would be ecstatic. They won't have to worry about the non famous twin" Hadrian spat filled with disgust and anger
The woman sighs before taking a deep breath and her posture becomes more serious.
The young woman walks towards Hadrian, placing a hand on the young boy's shoulder causing Hadrian to look at her with a questioning gaze.
"Then I offer you a place where you can be more" The woman offers
Hadrian's eyes slightly widened in shock
She is offering me a place to be more? Like more what? There has to be more to this Hadrian thought to himself as he looks at the woman carefully with narrowed eyes, attempting to understand what she meant.
It can't be just that Hadrian thought as he looked at the woman closely
"What's the catch?" Hadrian asks slightly guarded
The woman looked at Hadrian, no sign of shock present on her face.
The woman then nods her head, with what seemed to be respect before answering
"You must help protect it" The woman states
Hadrian paused, his eyes filled with confusion
Protect it? What does she mean by that? Hadrian thought confused
"What I mean by that is to protect the innocent from harm and danger. So for as long as you are there your duty is to protect the people" The woman answers Hadrian's unspoken question.
So that's what she wants Hadrian thought
"So I have to protect this place if I am to live there?" Hadrian asks, wanting to confirm what he had heard with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes" The woman nods
Hadrian couldn't help but scoff as he shakes his head
Seriously? She expects me. A 4 year old and a Wizard to protect people? Hadrian thought with slight amusement.
"And how am I supposed to do that? I am just a 4 year old Wizard. Hah, I don't even know how to do Magic. I don't even have a wand" Hadrian laughs, irritation laced in his tone as he scowls at the woman.
The woman looked at Hadrian, her eyes staring at Hadrian with a piercing gaze.
"You are more than just a Wizard, Hadrian. You are so much, so much more. But I will speed up the process for you, giving you the advantage you will need when protecting this world" The woman answers before looking at Hadrian with a calculating gaze "But will you protect this world in exchange for staging there?" The woman asks with a calculating gaze
"Well It's got to be better than my home" Hadrian says home with disgust
The woman sighs and nods and before Hadrian realised it, he fell onto the ground, slowly succumbing to unconsciousness. Unaware of the change in the world around him.
Hadrian Pov
Waking up with a pained groan I found myself laying on the hard ground. Confused and worried, I sat and looked around, confused as to where I was only to recoil in fear as horror and dread overwhelmed me as I took in my surroundings. Large amounts of smoke floated up to the sky and not far from where I am is a giant hole that seemed to be bottomless as all that could be seen was pitch black.
As I look around, I clenched my fists tightly before standing up flinching in pain slightly
I need to get out of here, who knows what caused this and I have no desire to find out, I thought I started making my way out of this disaster.
I look around and realise that all of the destruction around me left total devastation in its wake. And I looked around and realised that the only way to get out of here was to climb out.
How did I survive this? Whatever caused this devastation was massive. And the worst part is that I was in its radius, Hadrian thought as he realised that the hole slowly became deeper the closer to the centre you went.
As I made my way through the destruction I saw a kid who seemed to be only a few years older than me. He has messy blonde hair and green eyes similar to my own. The young boy held a sword with a dragon and the blade broken, in his right hand. But what gained my attention was the baby he was holding in his arms. She had a small tuft of snow white hair while her skin was white creamy skin dirtied by the dust and ash that descended from above.
"Hey you ok?" I call out, causing the boy to slightly jump in surprise.
The blonde kid then turned towards me and I saw his eyes widening in surprise and shock.
Another thing I noticed was that his clothes were messed up and damaged. Looking down at myself I noticed that mine was also messed up. It was damaged and ripped apart. I also seemed to be covered in scratches more than likely due to the destruction that happened around me.
Well that explains the pain I was feeling I thought to myself.
I then look back at the boy who seemed to have recovered from his shock.
"How did you survive?" He asked in surprise and I noticed that he had tears flowing down his face. He seemed to have been crying as he was making his way out before I noticed him.
I sigh as I walk towards him.
"I don't know, all I know is waking up and that's it" I answer him with a shrug
The boy looked at me carefully before finally nodding his head in agreement.
"Ok, well let's go. I believe that it is best that we get out of here" He suggests with a calm voice despite the tears sliding down his face.
With a nod in agreement, the both of us began to make our way out of the destruction.
Finally reaching the top, I noticed that outside of the hole there were long stretches of grass fields with occasional hills. Knowing that there was nothing here for us, we continued to walk away from the giant hole. As we continued to walk away from the destruction, I noticed that the boy by my side was protecting the baby like his life depended on it.
"Who's the baby?" I ask curious
The boy looked at me in the corner of his eye before answering
"Her name is Elizabeth, her mother died soon after I found her due to her injuries from the explosion" He told me with his voice shaky due to him crying from earlier
So an explosion did this I thought as I looked back at the giant crater.
The both of them remained in silence, only the soft breathing from little Elizabeth was heard between the three.
"What's your name?" The blond haired boy asks, breaking the silence.
I looked at the boy, noticing that he was keeping me in his sight, slightly on edge around me.
Why is he acting like I am about to attack him? I wonder to myself but answer the young boy's question.
"Hadrian, and what about you? What's your name?" I asks him, curiosity in my voice
The boy looks at me, still on edge but answers
"Meliodas" Meliodas answers paying attention to me closely with a guarded expression on his face, signs of distrust showing in his eyes.
Ok I have to wonder. Did I do something to him? I thought confused.
