The Battle Begins

Shinji continued to strangle Asuka, his grip getting tighter around her neck. Asuka placed her hand on Shinji's cheek, tears were rolling down her face. Shinji's eyes widened as he looked down at Asuka's face, he slowly moved his hands and then he fell upon her chest then cried lightly. Asuka slowly put her arms around his body and hugged him; tears falling down her face as she listened to him cry.
"I'm sorry Asuka" he said between tears and sobs.
He looked up at her pale face, the red finger marks around her face were his fingers. Shinji stood up and helped Asuka up as well, he held her up by putting his arm around her waist and drapping her arm around his neck. Both Shinji and Asuka stared at the now ruined city of Tokyo 3.
"It's gone, everything... everyone" Asuka said her eyes filled with tears and terror.
"Shinji were all alone" Shinji looked at Asuka and then back at the ruined city.
"I know," Shinji said walking with her toward the city.
Asuka looked around frantically, and saw dead bodies, humans, animals, and bits and pieces of an angel or two. "All these people" Asuka said, "they died not knowing what happened, or why it happened." Shinji spotted a bench and wabbled over toward it; he sat Asuka down on it and then he sat down on it beside her.
"Shinji," Shinji turned his head toward Asuka "what is it Asuka," "I.. I'm scared Shinji, I'm really scared," Asuka studdered, while her bottom lipped trembled slowly. Shinji walked with Asuka into the now vacant NERV headquarters, bodies layed bloody and mangled. Asuka covered her mouth with her hand.
"This wasn't done by angels" Shinji kept walking with her until they came across another body, "MISATO!" Shinji said. Shinji sat Asuka down then ran over to Misato's dead body and lifted it into his lap. Asuka leaned against a wall, then she fell to her knees and watched Shinji cry while holding Misato's body. Shinji loked up his eyes red and stained with tears, he looked over to Asuka then slowly put Misato's body down. Shinji got off of the ground and walked over to Asuka and sat infront of her on his knees as well. Asuka felt her head lift up and she met eyes with Shinji's eyes. Shinji grabbed Asuka and pulled her into a hug, encircling his arms around her body. Shinji could feel Asuka's heart beating against his, hers was normal and beating regular paces, his was beating rapidly from his crying episode earlier, when he found Misato's body.
He sat there still holding her, he ran his fingers through her red hair then he pulled away and loked at her. "Lets go look fr some fod and water" Asuka nodded to Shinji's demand. Shinji stood then he helped Asuka up.
They walked to the closest room and walked in. Shinji looked around the room and then he spotted a chair that was turned upside down, he set Asuka against a wall, then he walked over picked up the chair, and walked over to Asuka and set the chair down for her to sit in. "What happened to us, why did we survive" Shinji asked Asuka. "I'm not sure Shinji, mayber we were spared.. by who I don't know." Shinji looked around the room,then there was a loud crash and then darkness.
