Prologue

In a world where superpowers known as quirks were prevalent in society, many people had the power to either protect others or maintain their own wants and desires. These people had the abilities needed to reshape the world however they saw fit.

In many ways, the world had become its own animal kingdom. A world in which only the strong would survive and the weak were left to die by the wayside. A world where those with powerful quirks could do whatever they pleased without fear of retribution.

Still, there were those who believed that protecting the pack was more important than anything. Those who understood the values of courage, loyalty, and companionship.

Alexander embodied this to his core and became one of the greatest heroes, while also being known for having the true spirit of a wolf.

This is the story of how a young pup became the alpha of his pack and gave hope to a world where only a quirk determined a person's value.

Chapter 1: A Wolf in Hero Society

Today was the day. The day that the Hero Academia high school opened its doors for potential new students. The day that hero hopefuls from all over Japan would take the famous U.A entrance exam. It's here, where an unexpected candidate, even by U.A standards, would take his first step to becoming a true hero.

He made his way to the entrance where he saw a boy with green hair standing in awe at the gates. He didn't know why, but there was something about the green haired boy's expression that made him want to let out a good-natured laugh. His thought process was interrupted however when he heard what sounded like an explosion nearby.

He turned his head and saw that the explosion had come from the hand of another student hopeful with blond hair.

"DEKU, YOU DAMN NERD!" the blond headed boy yelled. "YOU SHOULD GET OUT OF HERE RIGHT NOW! A QUIRKLESS LOSER LIKE YOU WILL NEVER MAKE IT HERE!"

"Ugh, does he have to be so loud?" the student thought to himself as he covered his ears. "And that thing he said about the green haired guy, is he really quirkless?"

"No! I won't go, Kacchan!" the boy called Deku replied. "I already told you; I'm going to U.A and you can't stop me!"

"You'd think that with a school like U.A, bullies would be a thing of the past, but I guess not," the student hopeful thought to himself before smiling. "At least the guy's standing up for himself and that's what matters."

Just as he was about to head inside, he saw the blond haired boy charge at the green haired boy with more explosions coming from his hand. Realizing what the blond boy was about to do, the hero hopeful dashed towards the two at full speed.

"That's enough!" the student said in a stern voice as he caught Kacchan's arm, stopping the attack. "I don't know what's going on between you two, but I'm not gonna let you threaten someone with your quirk!"

The blond haired boy started to growl. As he turned around to see just who it was that had the nerve to oppose him, both his and Deku's eyes widened. Standing in front of them was a boy unlike anything they'd ever seen.

He was covered from head to toe with snow white fur. His fur covered hands had small black claws at the end of them and a long fluffy tail was hanging from his backside. Finally, his head, face, ears, and feet, which also had black claws, were that of a wolf.

As the two continued staring at him in shock, they noticed other features as well.

The young wolfman had shining golden eyes which almost seemed to glow thanks to his sclera being black as night. His clothes resembled a Nordic winter style, including faux fur. Finally, they noticed that he seemed well toned and was a little on the bulky side, a clear sign that he took good care of himself and that he probably worked out on a regular basis.

"Hey kid, are you alright?" the wolf asked Deku as he walked past Kacchan.

Deku, who was still trying to process everything, nodded his head and spoke.

"Y-Yea, I'm ok. Thank you," he said as he bowed his head.

Kacchan, who regained his senses, turned back to the wolf boy and sneered.

"Who the hell do you think you are!" he roared.

"I could ask you the same thing," the white furred canine said in a calm voice as he glared at the angry blond boy. "What is someone like you doing here?"

"What was that?!"

"You heard me, why is someone like you here?" the wolf asked, a slight growl in his voice. "This is a school for heroes. After what you tried to do, I think you're the one who needs to leave."

Both Deku and Kacchan's eyes widened again. No one had ever talked to the blond headed boy like that, and they were at a loss for words.

"You just used your quirk to threaten someone. Someone who, by your account, is quirkless. That's not something a hero would do. What you did, that's something a villain would do," the carnivore explained. "If you really want to be a hero, then you better start acting like it!"

The blond boy was now seething with anger. The look on his face was murderous. A face that said he would be out for blood if he ever met this wolf boy again.

"Tch, whatever, just stay out of my way you damn extra!" Kacchan said before stomping his way into the building.

"Geez, what's that guy's problem?" the wolf wondered aloud.

"Um… thanks for that," Deku said, managing to snap himself out of his stupor "And… sorry about him. Bakugou is always like that."

"Bakugou? I thought his name was Kacchan," the wolf said in confusion, his ear flicking as he tilted his head. "Does that mean your name isn't Deku?"

"No, it's not," the green haired boy said sadly. "My real name is Izuku, Izuku Midoriya. That guy is Katsuki Bakugou. Kacchan is what I call him."

"I see," the wolf replied. "But where are my manners? My name is Alexander, Alexander Talbain."

"Alexander… Talbain?" Izuku said in a confused voice. "That doesn't sound Japanese."

"It's not. My family and I moved here from another country," Alexander explained. "Anyway, we'd better go. We don't want to be late."

Izuku nodded and the two headed inside.

After parting ways with Izuku and getting what he believed to be a fairly high score on the written exam, Alexander made his way to the assembly hall which was filled to the brim with hopeful students. While waiting for the practical exam to start, he found himself listening to everyone's conversations, a habit he picked up when he was seven.

He heard them speculating on the practical exam, telling each other about their quirks, and how they were worried about what score they got on the written portion of the test. Hearing all these friendly and normal conversations made the wolf feel relieved. He was happy to know that there were a lot of students who seemed genuine and were not at all like Bakugou.

Just then, the lights turned off and smoke began to cover the stage. Three spotlights snapped on and illuminated the center as a man with long blond hair and sunglasses started rising from the floor.

"Hey there little listeners! Hope you're having a great time cause we're finally getting to the main event!" the man shouted out.

Upon sizing him up, Alexander wasn't sure what to make of him. He was very loud which bothered the wolf's sensitive ears, he dressed like he was from the 80's and the way his hair stood up made his head look like it was as long as his torso.

Now, the wolf boy would never think ill of someone or judge them based on appearance alone, but there was something about this guy that made him feel uneasy. Perhaps it was his showboating attitude or maybe it was his unbearably loud voice. Whatever it was, Alexander knew that he would most likely not mix well with him.

While he was thinking about this, the white furred canine heard the other potential students talking about the strange man. He was shocked to learn that the man was actually a pro hero named Present Mic. This made Alexander curious about the MC hero as he found it a little hard to believe that a pro hero would have this level of grandstanding.

Still, Alexander knew that heroes come in all types. It honestly made the wolf feel a little better, since it meant that if an over the top person like Present Mic could be a pro hero, there was no reason why he couldn't.

Suddenly, the cheerful man snapped his fingers, prompting the wolf to look at him. When he did, Alexander saw a large monitor appear behind Present Mic showing three different types of robots.

The MC hero went on to explain the purpose of the robots and indicated that they must be destroyed or deactivated to earn points. How many points the students received would correspond to the score they received on their practical exam. So fifty points will be 50%, sixty points will be 60% and so on.

Just as he was about to explain the purpose of the last robot, Present Mic was interrupted by a boy with blue hair and glasses who suddenly stood up.

"Excuse me sir! But you are forgetting something! According to the information we were given, there are four robots, yet you moved on without explaining it. Such an oversight cannot be allowed at an esteemed institute like U.A," the boy said as he robotically chopped the air.

Before the pro hero could respond, the boy pointed at Alexander, who was a good distance away from him. "And you! Stop all that fidgeting, it's very distracting."

The white furred canine tilted his head in confusion.

"Distracting?" he thought. "Yea, I'm fidgeting, but that's just cause-"

"Listen, we are here to become heroes! If you aren't going to take this seriously, then just leave!" the blue haired boy said as he started chopping the air again.

Alexander, who was just staring at the boy, began to growl. What he said was nothing short of a personal insult for the young canine. An insult that prompted him to slam his hands on his desk as he stood up.

"Excuse me, but who the hell do you think you are?!" the wolf boy barked. "First off, if I'm fidgeting, it's because I'm a wolf and I can't help it, something that should be blatantly obvious!"

"Secondly, if you had been paying attention then you would have realized that Present Mic was about to explain the fourth robot when you rudely interrupted him. So really, if anyone is being distracting around here it's you!"

Alexander's tail started to fizzle up with anger as he stared daggers at the glasses student. "Maybe instead of calling out a random stranger, you should be reflecting on your own actions!"

The blue haired boy was shocked. He didn't expect the wolf kid to snap at him like that, nor had he considered how rude he must have seemed. He was about to apologize, but before he could, Present Mic retook control of the situation.

"Alright little listeners, I can tell that sparks are already flying, so why don't we knock the rest of this out of the way so you can all strut your stuff! As for our caller's question, yes, he was 100% correctomundo!"

"The zero pointer, as its name implies, is worth exactly zero points! That's cause this guy isn't a villain, but rather an obstacle, so you cool cats would be better off just avoiding it."

The pro hero gave everyone a thumbs up as a bunch of doors opened. "So, with that out of the way, make your way to the testing site and let's get this show on the road! Go beyond, PLUS ULTRA!"

At the testing ground, Alexander was doing everything to calm himself down. He even went as far as clapping his cheeks as he didn't want to use his abilities yet.

He looked around for any indicators as to when the test would start. He wasn't worried about how he would perform. Rather, he just wanted to get it over with since the waiting only made his anxiety worse.

Then, as if his prayers had been heard, the large doors opened revealing a recreation of the city. He was blown away by how accurate every detail was and while a part of him wanted to appreciate it more, he was more concerned with ending the test as quickly as possible.

With his anxiety pushing him, Alexander raced out of the gate, leaving all the other students behind. Many were stunned by the wolf's sudden burst of speed while others yelled that he was cheating. That is, until Present Mic appeared on the monitor.

"YO! What's y'all doing? Crime has no timer, no ready set go, get going already!"

The students, still confused, looked at the pro hero as if he had a second head. That is, until one of the attendees snapped out of his daze and started running while cursing to himself that the test had started and that Present Mic was nuts, causing the rest of the hero hopefuls to follow suit.

Ten minutes in, Alexander found himself fairly deep in the city, having taken out a good number of robots on the way. From his calculations, he was sitting at about thirty points after destroying many one and two pointers using his fangs and claws to rip them to shreds. That number would skyrocket when he suddenly found himself surrounded by three pointers.

"Now's my chance to really impress these guys," the white wolf said with a smile.

He opened the water pouch he'd been carrying and poured the water out in the direction of his hand where it came to rest, floating above his paw. He then shot his arm forward, causing the water to blast through one of the three pointers like a cannonball.

Alexander quickly beckoned the water back to him where he spun it in between his hands until it became something akin to a buzzsaw. With his new watery weapon in hand, he launched it at another three pointer, cutting through the machine with ease.

Rather than have the water come back to him, he extended his arms out, keeping the water in its buzzsaw form. He then swayed his arms as he spun to his left, causing the weapon to follow him as if it were being pulled by invisible strings.

With a quick motion, the water spun in a big circle around him, cutting all the robots in half as if they were made of paper. With all of them destroyed, Alexander returned the water to its original form before putting it back into the pouch.

"Ok, that's fifteen three pointers down. If I'm right, then I should have around seventy five points after that," the large carnivore said to himself. "That should be more than enough to pass, but I should probably try to get the highest score possible. We still have plenty of time after all and the last thing I want is for the examiners to think that I'm only willing to do the bare minimum."

As Alexander thought about where he should go next, he heard several screams coming from close by. Without hesitation, he ran in the direction they were coming from where he saw several participants sounded by more robots, some of which seemed to be injured.

Seeing no alternative, the wolf brought out his water again. This time, he created extended whip-like arms made from the water and with his left arm, he grabbed all the combatants present, including the ones who could still fight. He then attached his right water arm to a nearby pole and swung himself and the students away.

Once they were safely behind a building a few blocks away, the white wolf kept a close eye out for any more enemies, allowing the students he saved to catch their breath. Needless to say, they were taken aback by the fact that there was an actual wolfman in front of them and that he had a water quirk.

Just as it seemed like Alexander could relax, he suddenly felt the ground begin to shake. He turned his head and saw a giant robot heading towards them.

"Crap, is that the zero pointer?" he asked himself. "This isn't good, a lot of these guys are still too hurt to fight."

"Is something wrong?" a girl with vines for hair asked.

"Uh… no, everything is fine, we just need to move," the wolf said with a soft smile.

"It's the zero pointer, isn't it?" a boy with yellow hair asked, lighting coming from his fingers.

"Yea, it is," Alexander responded. "But I think we'll be fine as long as we just move somewhere else. It's only meant to be an obstacle, so I don't think-"

Before he could finish his sentence, a huge laser blasted the block across the building they were hiding behind, destroying it and the buildings on it.

"Never mind!" the wolf said with a nervous smile that looked more like a giant grin.

"Crap, what do we do?" the electric boy asked.

Alexander looked around and saw that the only way out of this mess was to bust their way out and so that's what he did. He gathered up his water and shot it at a wall before freezing it with his breath. With the wall now effectively a giant ice cube, the wolf punched it as hard as he could, shattering it to pieces.

"This way!" he barked.

As the wolf and two others dragged the remaining participants to safety, they were attacked by more robots. However, they were ready this time. The two teens, along with three more combatants who were now healthy enough to fight, charged at the bots while Alexander protected the last two student hopefuls.

Just then, the alarm sounded, signaling the end of the test.

"Just in time," Alexander said as he finished bandaging up the last junior hero before putting away the small first-aid kit he brought with him. "Would have been nice to get the top spot though."

As everyone left the test area, Alexander let out a sigh of relief. He was happy that he got enough points to pass the exam and that he was able to help those students. Still, he was hoping to get a higher score in order to impress the teachers. Little did he know however, that he was being watched throughout the whole thing.

"So what do you think, principal, anyone catch your eye?"

"Oh yes, we definitely have a great selection of candidates this year. By the way, that one boy, the wolf one. What's his name?"

"Says his name's Alexander Talbain which means he's most likely a foreigner. By the looks of it, he actually has two quirks."

"There's the obvious one, he's a wolf and it mentions that his quirk has been in his family for generations. So, because of that, they aren't even born with a human form anymore, but are in fact wolfmen from birth."

"The second one however is unique only to him. It's called Undine."

"Uhn-deen?"

"Undine, it's spelled u-n-d-i-n-e. Some people make the mistake of saying unDINE, but it's pronounced the way you said it."

"Hmm, if I'm not mistaken that's the name used for water nymphs and fairies, correct?"

"Yes sir, specifically in European mythology. According to his record, the doctor called it that because he not only has control over water, but its sub elements as well."

"Interesting, very interesting!"

A full week had passed, and Alexander was pacing in his room awaiting the test results. He couldn't stand not knowing how he did on the exam and the waiting only made it worse.

"Hey honey!" his mother, who was a bluish gray wolf, said as she came in.

"We have something for you," his father, who was a white wolf, said as he followed, holding a letter in between his fingers.

"Are those my test results?!" the white wolf asked, his tail wagging with excitement.

"They sure are," his mom said with a smile.

"Go on, open it," his dad said as he handed the letter to his son.

Alexander nodded and was about to open it when his mother stopped him.

"Hang on a sec honey," she said with her hand stretched out. "We have to wait for Nikolas. After all, he's been rooting for you the most."

"You're right," Alexander said happily. "Where is my little bro?"

"Um… big brother?" a soft voice said suddenly.

The three family members turned their heads and saw a small raccoon boy, who couldn't have been more than five years old, poking his head from behind the door. He slowly showed the rest of himself and entered the room before looking up at Alexander.

"There's my Nikolas," the wolf mother said happily, her tail wagging softly.

"Are… are those the test results?" he asked nervously.

Alexander kneeled down to meet his brother at eye level. The white wolf then patted his head as he gave him a smile.

"It sure is," the younger white wolf said. "Ready to see if your big brother got in?"

Nikolas nodded as he blushed from the petting.

Alexander stood up and opened the envelope. Inside was a small device that projected a hologram of Almight, the number one hero in all of Japan.

"No way!" the wolf barked as his tail began to wag even faster.

"It's Almight!" Nikolas sheepishly cheered.

Almight gave his signature greeting before congratulating Alexander on his results. Not only did he pass the exam, but he also got the top score, something that confused the pup.

Almight's pre-recorded message must have anticipated any confusion as it explained that a hero must do more than fight bad guys. They must also help people in trouble and asked what kind of hero school wouldn't award that kind of selflessness. With this in mind, he revealed that they awarded rescue points and those points, added on to what he got to his villain points and written exam score put him on top of the leaderboard.

Alexander, Nikolas and their parents began to howl and cheer with pride before the message continued.

"Now Alexander," Almight said with his biggest smile yet. "It is with great pride that I welcome you to this school and watch you grow into a fine hero!"

"Welcome to the Hero Academia!"
