Chapter 1: The Fall

Everything went black. No, that wasn't quite right, everything seemed to vanish. There was no light, but also no ground, no sky, nothing to touch but herself. Reaching a hand up she felt her face and gave herself a hard pinch on the cheek.

"Ow, bloody hell," she let her hand fall to her side. Well she could breathe and speak, so that was a good sign that she wasn't dead at least. So what in the bloody hell had happened? She'd just been in the Lake of Outrage valley with Kat and Keifer after a friendly battle and some amazing sex. Then she'd gone to relieve herself behind a rock, and there was a strange flash of something metallic. Now she was here floating in a dark void.

Taking stock of herself she found that the only thing on her were her clothes and her RotomPhone, though the Pokemon that lived inside the device didn't seem to be active. There was no signal, but she tried to send messages and make calls anyway. Nothing worked. Just as she was about to start breaking down, the world shifted slightly, bringing back a sense of light gravity.

A golden light, surrounded by a corona of brilliance burst into life in the direction Kassi now felt herself being pulled.

"Welcome to my realm, located beyond both time and space," the voice was deep and sonorous, seeming to come from everywhere, not just from the light. "It is well that thou art here. I am what the humans call Arceus."

Great, I'm meeting God, maybe I really did die.

"I wish to know thine appearance." Kassi felt like her entire being was laid bare before the world in a brief flash; from her long platinum blonde hair, crystalline blue eyes, to her short 5 foot fit frame that was topped with perky D breasts the left one pierced by a bar that ended in Pokeballs on either end. All of it, including the Pokeball shape she shaved her short pubic hair into down to the white dress with a Pikachu shaped keyhole in the chest and her lack of panties at the moment and everything inside of her body was shown to Arceus. She felt a deep blush come to her face after being so exposed.

"What is thy name?" Arceus said, the question was flat, no discernible emotion in it at all.

"Kassi," she paused, a litany of questions all wanting to burst forth from her at once.

"Kassi…" Arceus spoke just before she could ask anything. "Soon thou shalt find thyself in a world strange to thee…a world where the creatures you humans call Pokemon are not yet tamed. Kassi…forge the bond between man and Pokemon, and thou shalt find me once more."

"How in the bloody?!" her protests were cut off in an instant. The world lurched, her RotomPhone spinning away from her into a void as she fell. The golden corona of light burst apart and swirled around her phone. It coalesced around the device and then into an outline of Pokemon. It was oddly shaped, with four legs, a long neck and head and golden protrusions on its back.

"Wait, I've seen this before!" She'd seen this image the last time she'd been attacked by a psychic Pokemon, the time she'd nearly died.

Her phone was pushed back at her, bathed in golden light. It changed shape as it moved forward, growing larger and gaining two golden handles on the sides in the same shape as Arceus's protrusions.

Then Arceus vanished in a flash of golden light, and Kassi started to fall.

"Wake up! Ohhh…Do wake up, won't you?" A tender male voice said.

Cracking her eyes slightly Kassi's mind recoiled at the sudden onslaught of light. Everything hurt, it felt like she'd just gone 5 rounds with a Machamp. She tried to open her eyes once more and found 3 sets of Pokemon feet in front of her.

"Are you alive my girl?" the kindly voice said again.

"Hmmrggh," Kassi groaned eloquently as she pushed herself to her feet. She was covered in sand and had to adjust her dress so it sat properly. Looking up she found herself looking into the face of a kindly older man. He wore a frayed vest and pinstripe trousers that looked like they had one time been expensive. Over that he wore a white lab coat with a bright yellow insignia on the left breast. But his most outstanding feature was the purple and white knit hat dominating his head, the white puff ball atop was almost as big as his head was. The man's skin was sunkissed and he had several days worth of stubble that grew in odd patches.

"You gave me quite the shock, falling from the sky like that! But thank goodness, you seem unharmed!"

"Uh, where am I?"

"Why, this is Prelude Beach, of course. Dear me, did the shock of your fall somehow addle your memory?" He stopped and did a quick up and down of Kassi, but not in a sexual way. "I must say, your clothing is…unusual. You wouldn't happen to have an acquaintance in these parts, would you?"

Kassi's head felt like it was splitting in two. She did remember flashes of something, a golden light. Prelude beach, where was that? She didn't remember hearing that name before.

"I don't know…" she answered, letting her words fall off.

"I see…you seem to be in a bit of a pickle. Might I offer some directions? Do you have somewhere around here you could stay?"

Kassi just shook her head no, immediately regretting the motion from the sharp pain it induced.

"So you don't know anyone here, and you don't even know where to spend the night," the gentleman rubbed at his chin, "well…this is a proper pickle indeed. Are you quite sure you'll be able to survive?"

"I don't know what to do," she answered, her mind finally starting to stop spinning and thoughts starting to link back together into a coherent stream.

"I see…Well, no gentleman would abandon a person in such need!" The gentleman's face broke into a wide and kind smile.

"Kroo!" a small chirping sound came from Rowlett that was on the ground at his feet.

"Foom!" the Cindaquil added with a whoosh of the flames on its back.

"Plish plash!" the Oshawott beside them added with a grin.

"Oh my, I'd completely forgotten! I had just caught up to these three runaway Pokemon when you tumbled out of the sky…it's almost as if they knew you'd appear here!" He looked from the Pokemon back to Kassi. "Ah, but do you even know what a Pokemon is?"

"Of course I do," Kassi went to reach for her belt instinctively to grab one of her team's PokeBalls, only to find that the belt was not on her, her heart sank.

"My, that's a relief! Though you fell from the sky, it seems we have some common ground, eh? Yes, well, these three Pokemon belong to me, mysterious creatures that they are!" The man turned from the Pokemon and folded his arms across his chest. "Oh yes…what might your name be?"

"Uh, it's Kassi." She answered, politely. This gentleman certainly looked strange, but he was being kind and trying to offer her help.

"Oho! So you're called Kassi! That name has quite the ring to it! I imagine it must have some lovely meaning. Oh, but I do apologize! I haven't even introduced myself!" The man held out a hand for Kassi to shake, "my name is Laventon. I am something of a Pokemon Professor. That is to say, I'm a scholar seeking to deepen our understanding of Pokemon. Yes, Pokemon like these three here-"

As he spoke the three Pokemon that had been standing still, turned and ran full speed back up the beach and toward a gully in the hills.

"Oh, blast and bother! My darling Pokemon! Why must you run from me again?!" He turned back towards Kassi, "I'm terribly sorry, but do you think you could help me round them up? I beg you!" Without waiting for a response, he took off running after the three Pokemon.

Kassi took a few seconds to get her bearings. Glancing around she saw that she was in a beach alcove. There was a dock that looked handmade and new, with a small rowboat tied to it. On one end of the beach sat a small shack with a wooden planked roof. Over it, she saw a mountain rising into the sky. Atop it was a swirl of dark clouds, crackling with lightning and a fixed…crack in the sky?

What in the bloody hell is that?! It's like the sky is broken. Realizing she was now all alone in a strange space, Kassi urged herself forward, after the professor.

As she departed the beach she heard a ring. Glancing to the side, she saw a device lying on the ground, glowing with a golden aura. Carefully she approached and recognized it as her phone that had been altered. She picked it up and immediately a message appeared.

"I bestow upon thee this Arc Phone and thy mission, forge the bond between man and Pokemon."

She touched the screen to try and reply, but there was no option for her to message back.

"It's like a bad booty call. This must be God's version of U up?" She slid the phone between her breasts since she didn't have anywhere else to put anything and took off again after the professor.

As she approached Laventon turned to her, "Aha! I'm glad you've come to rescue me, my new friend from the sky! I tried catching my little runaways by tossing some PokeBalls their way, but I'm not the best at this sort of thing you see," he smiled. "I'd love to give you a go at it, but perhaps I should tell you a bit about these three first?"

"No need, Professor, I already know plenty about those three Pokemon." Kassi said, glancing about the clearing. Rowlet was in the back pecking at the ground under a tree. Oshawott had found a pond to lounge in. And Cyndaquil was hiding amongst some large stones.

"Oh goody! Another Pokemon scholar then!? Brilliant. Well I suppose you'll be needing some Pokeballs then." He pulled out a cloth satchel that bulged with its load. Pulling out one he held up something that resembled a Pokeball, only it was made of wood and stone and had a flip latch on its front and a port on the top. "Pokemon are truly wondrous and strange creatures! What's so strange about them, you ask?"

I didn't but go ahead. Bloody Arceus this man loves to talk. The thought of her thinking Arceus's name so casually made her blood boil for a second.

"Well, each and every Pokemon is able to shrink itself down to minuscule size! And that's where PokeBalls come in! PokeBalls are a recent invention, you see. Throw one of them at a Pokemon, and why they shrink down and fit inside the ball, comfy as can be. And with that, you've caught a Pokemon!" Laventon nodded and handed the sack of PokeBalls to Kassi.

I feel like I'm in a tutorial or something. But what's that about shrinking Pokemon? I always thought PokeBalls turned Pokemon into data or something. Wait, is he still talking?

"I know we've just met, but I'm afraid I've no one else to turn to. I'd be awfully grateful if you could catch my three runaways! Now the proper technique is to take aim at the Pokemon,"

Kassi turned away from the professor even as he droned on about catching technique. She knew how to catch a Pokemon, a couple of different ways in fact, but she wasn't really interested in sex at the moment, so seducing them wasn't really an option.

Cyndaquil was the closest to her, hiding in a ring of boulders. Hefting the PokeBall a couple of times to get a feel for its weight and balance, she was surprised to find it felt very similar to a normal Pokeball. As a kid she'd spent hours just practicing her throws with a defective Pokeball, sometimes throwing it at her family's Wooloo, which usually had ended with her being chased out of the pasture by the mean Dubwool male that Mum had loved so much.

Giving the ball a solid overarm toss, the PokeBall flew true and hit Cyndaquil in the back with a hefty *thonk*. The Pokemon disappeared into the ball in a flash of white light. Then the ball leapt off the ground, spun and settled back down, before firing off a small shower of sparks out of its top.

Well that's different.

Laventon was saying something about technique and skill which Kassi just let go in one ear and out the other until he said, "It's odd, you don't seem to have any fear of Pokemon. You just walk right up to them!"

Why would I be afraid of Pokemon? Especially a little Cindquil, Oshewot, and Rowlet? And didn't he say these were his Pokemon? Why hadn't he caught them in PokeBalls already?

"You know, many people fear to even approach Pokemon - never mind catch them. Bravo, indeed!"

"Thanks, Professor, happy to help." Kassi didn't know what to make of the praise. Sure, there were some dangerous Pokemon you wanted to avoid. Her own first encounter with Tsunami, her Gyarados, had taught her that; but by and large Pokemon weren't that dangerous.

She walked up a small hillock to where the Rowlet was eating seeds on the ground under a small tree. Pulling out another ball she gave it a more gentle toss this time. The PokeBall strike was lighter this time and after a few seconds the ball let off another shower of sparks. At least that part is fun.

Finally, she turned to Oshewott. The Pokemon was lazily floating on its back in a small pond. Kassi threw a ball and landed it on the Oshewot's belly. This time, the ball failed and exploded into bits as the Oshewot broke it. This time it eyed her with suspicion.

"Ah yes, I'm afraid that can happen from time to time, old girl! PokeBalls aren't 100 percent you know!" Laventon added, helpfully.

Turning to the Oshewot she smiled. Reaching out with her mind, as gently as she could she let her consciousness brush against the small otter-like Pokemon. It seemed confused and cocked its head at the contact.

During her travels in Galar, she'd been attacked directly by a Gothita and later Gothorita owned by a nasty Trainer named Bede. Each direct psychic assault on her mind had altered her somehow, unlocking psychic abilities within her. She wasn't as strong as most psychic Pokemon; but she could at least communicate with Pokemon, lift small objects, and increase some of her own physical abilities.

It's ok little one. Tell you what, you get into this ball peacefully and I'll give you a reward when I get a chance. She pushed the image at the Oshawott of her giving the small Pokemon a blowjob. A hint of red started to peak out from the sheath on its lower belly. It nodded, then walked towards her, eyes twinkling with lust.

Professor Laventon must have been too far away to see the excitement of the small Pokemon, but a few seconds after the final PokeBall shot sparks to indicate the Pokemon had been caught, he rushed over. Gathering the final ball, Kassi handed all three back to him.

"That was incredible! When Oshawott started to approach you, I admit that I was a bit fearful. You see, the three Pokemon you caught have only just arrived at the village to help with our research. They won't yet listen to anyone and I didn't know what to expect." He smiled and shook his head thoughtfully before continuing, "And as I mentioned, they bolted from the village almost as if they knew you'd come falling. But I must say, Kassi, I was taken aback by how well you use PokeBalls! How is it that you catch Pokemon so ably when you've only just arrived here? One can't help but think there's a reason you appeared here and now…"

Kassi felt herself blushing, more because of how she'd convinced Oshewott, than the praise. "It's nothing Professor, just beginner's luck I guess."

"Ah yes, that might be the case old sport, but I rather doubt it!" He let out a full bellied laugh. It was a jovial laughter that forced Kassi's lips to smile along with it.

Thinking that keeping everything a secret might be a terrible idea, Kassi extricated her Arc Phone from between her breasts. The professor blushed as he watched and then got lost in excitement as Kassi held up to the phone to display the single message on it.

"Forge the bond between man and Pokemon," he gleaned around the device without touching it.

"It's called an Arc Phone, professor."

"Truly fascinating. That object is an Arc phone you say? What an odd device. Could it be...guiding you somehow?" He stood up and placed a hand on his hip, "if you'll indulge me for a moment, there's something I'd like to share with you. You see, I have a dream - to compile this region's first complete record of its Pokemon! We in the field call such a catalog a Pokedex. Ah, but alas, in order to properly catalog data about a Pokemon, you need to catch them. And therein lies the rub, I'm afraid. PokeBalls have only just been invented, and not many have mastered the skill of using them."

His face grew serious, his light gray eyes meeting hers. "Enter you - a person with a clear talent for catching Pokemon! Your goal is to forge a bond between man and Pokemon and mine is to study all those Pokemon. A situation ripe for teamwork, don't you agree?" He smiled widely before continuing, "Come now! What do you say? Shall we help one another out, my girl?"

Kassi didn't really see another choice at this point. She needed time to take stock, assess her situation, and figure out a way out of this.

"Sure, Professor, I'll help you however I can." Kassi held out her hand and the Professor shook it, grinning ear to ear as he did so.

"Then whoever and from wherever you may be, I welcome you with open arms! We've a Pokedex to complete!" The wind blew gently, bring with it the waft of flowers. The air here was so fresh and clean, even the air in her home town hadn't been this clean. "First things first - let's get these Pokemon back to the village! Then we'll sort out your lodgings and you some *ahem* proper clothes and a meal and all that. Follow me, then! Onward to Jubilife Village!"

Kassi started to follow the professor as he turned and started to walk, talking all the while. Wait, did he say Jubilife Village? As in Jubilife City…in Sinnoh! Arceus you bastard…where in the bloody hell did you take me?

The walk took several minutes. During that time, Professor Laventon only stopped talking long enough to take a breath. Mostly he chattered excitedly about Pokemon and all the possible discoveries that were to be found now that he had another assistant. Kassi, barely caught any of what he was saying, sticking to automatic responses and clipped sentences. Her mind was reeling.

What do I do? What does forge the bond mean? What about Rei? What about my team? I'd finally just bonded with Kat too… on and on her head spun until a shadow loomed over her and she was pulled out of her troublesome spiral.

Glancing up, she saw a gate attached to a high plank fence. It stood about 2 stories tall with a tower on either side of the wide double doors. The gate and towers were Kantonian in design but, as was much of the town beyond the gate; though she saw influences of Galarian innovations sprinkled throughout.

A realm outside of time and space indeed. Kassi thought to herself, remembering the words of Arceus.

"Good afternoon my dear gentlemen! I hope you don't mind, but this young lady was ever so helpful towards me and my Pokemon today, I'd like to see her inside and see to her safety and comfort for the evening."

The guards, dressed in what Kassi could describe as a battle jinbei and woven hat, simply nodded and waved them through.

The village was smaller than she expected based on the gate. Lines of townhouse style homes lined the street leading to a river. Across the river sat a truly massive three story building that seemed somewhat out of place. The building itself was Kantonian in design, but adorned with machinery and decorations that made her think of Motostoke. The main boulevard was packed with citizens out running various errands before the sun set.

Professor Laventon led Kassi down the boulevard, speaking about the history of the settlement and their reason for being here. Kassi was doing her best to listen this time, though the mood of the citizens and their whispers pulled her away from the Professor.

"Look at the way she's dressed."

"Do you think she's here to work with Azure?"

"How disgraceful."

"Why would the professor bring an outsider into the village?"

"Wonder if she's with one of the tribes?"

"We're not supposed to speak with strangers."

Those were just some of the whispers she heard as she followed closely behind Laventon. The thoughts and feelings bleeding off the people she passed were mostly those of fear, curiosity, and even arousal in a few cases. She felt like a sore thumb sticking out, maybe, even one that was infected and in need of removal.

In a whisper, the Professor said to Kassi, "Don't listen to them. Show them what you can do and all those people will feel silly for having doubted you. I know it."

A warmth spread through Kassi in his words. Laventon was certainly a kind man, based on what she'd seen of the man so far; even if he was a chatty goofball. They came to the bridge that seemed to separate the residential from the business side of the town.

"Ah, young Kassi, I need to turn in my report for the day and speak with my Captain. Please, have a seat at the restaurant just across this bridge and I'll join you shortly. Tell that old chap Beni that you're a guest of mine."

Kassi was left alone after that statement. With nothing else to do, she made her way to the indicated building. It was a small eatery, but smells coming from it were delectable. She found a stooped man standing out front, his green hair and facial hair indicating to her that she was indeed somewhere different.

"Well now, aren't you awfully suspicious?" He rubbed at his green mustache for a second. "The Wallflower's for Galaxy Team folk only. We don't have seats for outsiders. Move along!"

Saying nothing more the man turned away and walked into his restaurant with a slam of the sliding door.

Well fuck me raw with a sandpaper dildo…that could have been better. Kassi thought as she heard some soft footsteps approach from behind.

"Who in the world are you? And what's with that…bizarre garb you're wearing? A Pokemon could slice right through those flimsy excuses for clothes!" Kassi turned and saw that the voice was coming from a young woman. She wore a heavy looking robed outfit in blue with a head scarf. Her hair was jet black and eyes pools of oil that seemed to drink in the light. "Hm, For you to get in here, someone must have couched for you."

"Yes, Professor Laventon said to meet him at this restaurant. And I'll have you know, this poor keyhole dress of mine has been through more than you can imagine."

The look on the girl's face was one of disbelief and amazement in equal measure.

"Was it Professor Laventon?" she asked, "Do you two know each other? He's from a region a long way off. Not the most reliable story, though - letting Pokemon run off and give him the slip and all. Three more of 'em got away just a while ago." Her accent was definitely not Galarian. In fact, the only one that did seem to have her same dialect was Laventon. The other accents had all been Kantonian so far, like Mina. "If I hadn't been resting up after some Pokemon drubbed me with a move called Thundershock, I;d have corralled 'em for sure." She paused and looked contemplative, "But the Professor, well…"

"It's just as Akari says, I'm a clumsy sort of fellow, to put it mildly!" The girl turned with shock to see that the Professor was standing over her shoulder. He just smiled and chuckled lightly. "But, everything will be quite all right now! Kassi here has agreed to help us with our Pokedex!" He grinned widely at both of us, stepping closer to me.

"As in…she's going to join the Survey Corps? What makes you think that's a good idea? We can't just take in any misfit who wanders out of the wilderness!" The young woman named Akari protested.

"I'll allow it," said a deep and commanding female voice.

"Ack!" Akari exclaimed.

Turning, Kassi and the group saw a thin woman approaching. She had dark blue hair and a pair of steel gray eyes. Every part of the woman screamed serious career professional, from her well pressed uniform, to her straight and serious posture.

"Assuming the individual can contribute to the Survey Corps, that is." She placed her hand behind her back in a parade rest stance. "I am the captain of the Galaxy Team's Survey Corps. You may call me Cyllene." She nodded curtly, "Professor Laventon has told me how you helped secure his Pokemon when they slipped his control. And now it seems he would like us to feed and house you in exchange for your ongoing labor."

Cyllene looked Kassi up and down appraisingly.

"Hmm. You appear to be 18 or so. Quite old enough to work for your keep. But we simply can't take on a stranger who wanders in among us, without any idea of their skills or origins." She paused, letting a dramatic tension fill the space. "Tomorrow we shall see if you can prove yourself worthy."

"Oho! A most reasonable decision, Captain." Laventon broke in with a smile. "Now, would you care to join us for a meal? I'm sure you've got plenty of questions for our visitor!"

With a curt chop of the air, Cyllene returned to a relaxed posture…well by stick in your ass standards anyway.

"That's quite all right. I prefer to eat alone so I might appreciate my meals without distraction." With no further words, she broke from the circle of conversation and made her way into the Wallflower.

"Aloof as always I see." Laventon added, turning to Kassi. "Well, no matter! The rest of us can share a meal and some pleasant conversation, then, eh?" He smiled then shouted towards the restaurant door. "Beni, old chum! The usual potato mochi, if you please - but make it for three today!"

The meal was pleasant. Potato mochi being a type of mashed potato cake that had been fried until the exterior was crisp and offered with a tangy, sour sauce. During that time the Professor explained to Akari how he'd come across Kassi. Much of it was standard dinner conversation, until Laventon said something that pulled her from her thoughts.

"...Pokemon are terrifying creatures! It's all but impossible to know what kinds of powers they might possess or what sorts of wondrous things they can do! But that's where Kassi will come in! She successfully caught three Pokemon! Three of them in quick order, you understand!?" He was beaming with excitement. "Nobody in the Galaxy Team is capable of a feat such as that. That means we can finally begin our Pokemon research in earnest!"

Akari looked astounded, "That's really something. We count ourselves lucky when we manage to catch a single wild Pokemon while fending off their attacks…"

"Ah, well, to be perfectly fair the Pokemon that fled to the beach weren't on the attack. But the key to catching Pokemon is getting close enough to aim your PokeBall well. And it seems our new friend is fearless enough to do just that!

Beni burst back in, saying something about the Captain just ordering 10 helpings of the same dinner they were enjoying and Laventon laughed it off as stress eating. The Professor then said if she made it into the Galaxy Survey Corp. she'd never have to worry about a meal again.

I haven't in a long while. She thought, her mind falling to despair.

The meal progressed quickly, but jovially. Laventon doing almost all of the talking, Kassi more lost in her thoughts than anything. Eventually Cyllene had come back to announce that Kassi would have a trial in the morning, but that she would be granted a barracks nearest the headquarters for the time being.

"But, if you don't pass the trial you will be faced with two choices. Leave the village to meet your fate - and perhaps your death - in the wilds. Or join Azure in the local brothel making use of your," she stared directly at Kassi's cleavage in her keyhole dress, "assets in other ways. Dismissed." Having said what she intended, Cyllene turned to walk away.

Kassi's mind was railing at the sheer indignation of her situation. She hadn't asked to be forced into doing what others demanded…yet, what else could she do right now with no resources and no Pokemon.

The Professor and Akari both offered words of comfort, but Kassi barely heard them. With heavy feet, she walked towards the offered home. It was a traditionally styled Kantonian townhouse. Tatami mats sat raised above the entry well, a pot hanging above a fire pit in the center of the room. There were no decorations sans a trunk for materials, a bedroll, and a full-length mirror.

Kassi crawled into the bedroll without even bothering to change out of her clothes. Her mind was spinning in circles towards a drain of depression. For the first time since starting her Pokemon journey, she was truly alone. All she found she could do was cry herself to sleep.
