BPOV
"Isabella... Are you okay?" I heard a knock on the bathroom door.
I wasn't sure for how long I had been in the bathroom.
I wasn't able to think of anything.
Everything was over.
How could he fucking ask if I was okay?
No, I was not!
I just gave my ring back to my husband!
And I might be pregnant with his child!
No, I was not okay!
Ending this marriage was definitely the right thing to do, but then why was it hurting so much?
Yeah, I was not at all okay!
I wasn't sure if I was being fair to him by being so mad at him, but it wasn't something I could control.
I wasn't even sure if he had done anything too wrong.
He was behaving exactly as it was expected from him the day we had talked about the conditions for the marriage.
He hadn't deviated from anything, but... I had!
"I need some more time. Please leave me alone." I said.
"Okay?" He said, which sounded like a question.
I knew he wasn't going to bother me now that I had asked me to leave me alone.
This was who he was.
He was an emotionless robot.
He just went by words. He'd never care to understand me beyond that.
But he wasn't wrong. He had always made it clear that this was who he was!
The problem was... me!
I had started having expectations from him.
Why did I think that he was even going to be onboarded for this?
Why did I think that maybe we could work this out?
Why did I think that maybe he could be a good father just based on how nice and protective he had been of Jasper!
He was pretty clear about not wanting a child for the next four years.
He might be a good father some day, but not right now!
That is... If there was a child.
It was still just a possibility.
I had been too scared to get my test done.
But I had to.
It was time!
I wasn't sure how many tests I took to confirm the results.
I had lost count how many times Edward had knocked during this time.
I had lost my ability to process anything.
And finally, not sure after spending how many hours in the bathroom, I went back to the room.
I found him standing right outside of the door.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
"Congratulations!" I said to him, "I'm not pregnant."
