Bleeding Sky
___________
A swollen ocher moon abreast a bleeding sky
Dripping tendrils of illumination through a yeilding night
The stars cluster and mourn and gaze down upon
The jagged edges of a broken man
His eyes throb with the echo
Of a sun that collapsed upon itself and was dark
Fingers clutched about the scar; the past
He knows he's become too tired to outrun
Night weaves her languid rhapsody
And those eyes fall shut in the aching hope
Let the world play on and forget his sins
But the game has just begun
He clutches the shards of a man
Ambition and lust, seeming but memory now
And steels himself to Night's sweet warmth
He knows he deserves the cold
He will return; serve; betray
Slicing his pride, a single tear escapes
Weaving trails of past and future
Falling to a bleeding sky
