Grass and trees surrounded the area, a new start. Well, It was a few weeks ago, but it still feels new. Seems like just yesterday he moved into his Great Grandfathers house. He built it here a long time ago, just a basic log house. He didn't have much, only a bed, a crafting table, a furnace, and a chest that kept most of his "useful" things. It was food and weapons mostly.
He lived in the middle of the forest, the torches were the only thing holding the mobs back, but that was about to change.
My hands blistered from the handle of my ax, He chopped down about 4 trees, sweat dripping down my face and forehead. His forearms were exhausted, but he kept going, a few more trees were chopped down. He picked up the remaining logs and headed back, the sun was going down. Not much longer 'til the monsters come out… He thought.
He made the logs into planks and made some fences out of them. Maybe he can raise cattle and livestock, but that would require wheat and carrots and he doesn't have any farms yet.
He decided he'd done enough work for today and headed inside. He lit the fire in the living room. He heard the crackle and groans of zombies and skeletons and the occasional hissing of a spider or two. He hated skeletons, more than anything, their stupid bows and arrows firing at you and the stinging of the arrow piercing your legs or arms. Zombies and spiders are okay, slims are easy, witches well… he hasn't encountered one yet, and he doesn't want to.
Enderman, on the other hand, are terrifying. He has only encountered one, and he never wants to again. Although He does not hate them, and he does not know of them either. Mysterious creatures they are.
He realized he was dozing off and headed to bed. His arms and legs were sore from the work he'd done today but it was worth it to get the wood he needed. He finally relaxed and fell asleep.
The next day he woke up, he looked out the window and saw the purples, pinks, and blues of the sky as the sun woke up. The soreness was back, but not as bad.
He decided on making a list of what he was to do today.
One: Make enough room for farms.
Two: Go to the village and purchase seeds.
Three: Build the fence around the house, and set torches on it.
Four: Finally get a donkey or a mule.
It seemed simple, but he had a lot to do today. he enjoyed work sometimes, he loved the way it made me feel like he have a purpose, also having something to do keeps my mind going, and if he was not doing something he would get restless.
He started chopping down trees when suddenly a heard a chuckle, an unearthly chuckle. he's heard it before. He froze in place and looked down. Vvzip~ He heard it teleport, it made a cooing sound than just like that, Vvziip~ It was gone. He looked around, flinching at every sound. he didn't see it again, but he knew it was in the surrounding area. he chopped as many trees down as he could, and quick too.
he got the rest of the logs and put them into the chest in the house. I cleaned the area of weeds and grass. he got my list and checked it off.
Next, he needed to go to the village, I wished I had a mule right about now, The village is a few miles away. IF I had a MULE it would be a lot faster.
After a few times of getting lost in the forest, I finally found it, it didn't take as long as you think. He only had a few emeralds, but it was enough to buy some seeds and crops. The breeze was stronger here, the air smelled of dirt and slightly of wheat.
Milo saw me as he was tying a horse to the fence.
"Hey, Steve! Where ya been?" He asked, he was younger than the store owner before and still inexperienced, but knows more about it than I do.
"Ah, you know just out and about, still fixing up around the house." He said, "Hey, I was just going to buy some seeds and head back, and maybe even a mule if you have a spear one."
"I've been trying to get rid of one of my mules, they're a lot to handle, but good for carrying things around, strong things they are. And for those seeds, I can give you two bags of them for a few emeralds too." Milo said, heading into the shop, and getting out two bags of seeds.
"You can have them for half the price, only 6 emeralds, and the mule you can have for the same price," Milo said. He took that deal and gave him the last of his 12 emeralds, for the seeds and mule. Luckily for me, He got a good deal from the inexperienced store manager, that handles the trades.
"Oh yeah don't come over, I saw an Enderman nearby, and I'm not sure if they're gone yet," He said. It didn't seem to be interested in his house or anything else he was doing.
"An Enderman? I haven't heard that name in a while. Well, tell me when you know it's gone so I can come over and visit someday, maybe I can bring my sister Alex." Milo said, cleaning up the outside of his shop.
"Sure, I'll let you know soon enough. Alright, see ya." He said leaving with my mule and seeds.
"Might as well be heading inside," He murmured to himself. "It's getting late." The mule shook its head, like to a response to his murmuring.
My steps crunched through the underbrush as He made my way back to my home. He tied the Mule to a post and it stood there. Another sound came to my ears. It was oddly static; almost coo-ing in its quality. It sent a feeling of ice up and down his spine. He had encountered one of the shadowy monsters once in my life, and He had nasty scars on my side and shoulder to prove it. He had barely survived the encounter, honestly, he didn't know how he did.
Instinctively, He turned around to look in the direction the sound came from, and He instantly regretted it. Staring back at me was a pair of glowing eyes and a tall thin black frame. It was surrounded by odd purple glowing particles.
The creature's posture changed the instant their eyes met, it went into a partial crouch, unhinging its jaw so its mouth could go wider than a normal human could go as the sunset, He could see faint red at the tip of its claws. It let out a terrible howl.
He was frozen to the spot. My footing slipped and he landed on his back, breaking a stick in the process, or he hoped it was a stick and not his bones.
Vvzipp~ The creature was gone. His blood ran cold as he looked all around, trying to locate the monster once again. His sword was drawn, held in shaking hands.
But there was no sign of it, not anymore. He expected an attack, another teleport, and razor-sharp claws lashing out at him at any moment, but there was nothing.
He backed up warily towards his house, his hand feeling behind him for the doorknob. His entire body buzzing with adrenaline, he felt awake, more alert, and more alive than he ever had before.
Every second felt like ten as my ears were filled with the rapid beating of his own heart. It felt like a lifetime before his fingertips encountered the rough wood of his door and the cool iron knob.
He slipped inside his house quickly, slamming the door behind him, before leaning back against it with a shaky sigh.
His breath trembled in fear as he held my chest and tried to slow his rapidly beating heart and calm himself down enough.
"That was too close…so close…" He continued to lean against the door, and when He calmed down enough, He walked into his living room and sat down, his adrenaline still going, but waining.
He put more wood inside the fireplace and was still on edge about the Enderman encounter. He didn't get much sleep that night, tossing a turning but sleep didn't come to me. He even walked around some to stress, and that didn't seem to work either.
He checked his list again and forgot about putting up the fence around his house. He figured he could do it tomorrow.
He continued to lay there, not getting any sleep, then sunlight began coming into his window. He got up and began getting on with his chores earlier than any other morning before.
He felt exhausted but continued his work. He had finally finished the fence, he placed torches on top of it too. At last, he checked it off his list and went back inside to put the extra fences into a chest. Come to think of it, how did the chest carry so much? He let his mind wander on that as he looked at his farm of wheat.
Then his mind went back to the Endermen scenario, then he got to thinking, Why didn't it attack him? Still, Endermen are mysterious creatures. He was on edge, he went into his house earlier than usual.
When it got dark he heard the Endermen coos, and clicking sounds. And the occasional skeletons, zombies, and spiders. Why was the Enderman hanging around? They usually don't care about what humans do unless they look at or bother them. Unless there was more than one, he couldn't imagine 2 Enderman at once or even 3.
Well if it did come to that what could he do?
