(This is a work of fanfiction, any similarities to other works if purely coincidental as plagiarism is not cool! I do not own Pokémon or PMD This is my first time writing PMD, so constructive criticism is welcomed! Hope you enjoy reading!)

Extra: The main character will have a name, but everyone else will just be called by their Pokémon names. And I will be making up the towns and dungeons names, any similarities to other places in the PMD games is coincidental. And yes, Ultra Beasts and Ultra Wormholes will be included in this story.

The first thing Zora felt when she regained consciousness was a fierce headache.

"Ugh! What happened?" She thought as she slowly rosed to her feet. She tried to think about what happened before, but as she tried to remember, it seemed to only make her headache worse.

Looking around, she saw that she was in some kind of forest, based on the trees surrounding her. Then she heard something that sounded like flowing water and followed the sound.

"Maybe some water will make me feel better." Zora thought as she crawled to the river. Once she reached the edge, she laid her body on the ground and dipped her head to drink from the river.

But when she caught a glance of her reflection, instead of her face, it was that of a Fennekin's.

Zora screamed and quickly, and clumsily, backed away from the water, causing her to trip over herself and fall onto the grass. As she laid there, she took the time to look over the rest of her and realized that her face wasn't the only thing that looked like a Fennekin.

Instead of hands and feet, she saw four small paws covered in pale yellow fur. Then she noticed a big fluffy tail that was also pale yellow, with just a bit of red at the tip. Getting up, she slowly walked back to the water, and took deep breaths to try and calm herself.

She hesitently looked back into the river stream and gazed at her reflection again. And once again, she saw the face of a Fennekin.

"I've been turned into a Fennekin." She realized. "But...how?"

As she tried to remember what could've happened, she felt her headache coming back.

"Ugh! Maybe I should rest before thinking about that." She thought to herself. Remembering the stream, she carefully dipped her head closer to the water and began to drink, and the more she drank, the more she felt her energy return.

"Help is on the way!" a voice shouted through the forest, startling, Zora. The moment she lifted her head, she was face to face with an Oshawott, who seemed to headbutt her into the water, fortunately, the stream was shallow, so she didn't have to worry about drowning along with her aching forehead.

Then she heard a groan of pain. Zora looked at the Oshawott, who was rubbing his forehead.

"Ow, ow, ow." She heard him mumble to himself over and over again.

"Oshawott!" Another voice shouted. Shortly, Zora saw a Rowlet fly towards the Oshawott. "I told you to wait!"

"Someone screamed!" The Oshawott protested. "Someone could be in danger; I didn't have time to wait!"

Rowlet sighed. "You can't just charge off like that, we should've made a plan!"

Zora was silent as she watched Rowlet and Oshawott argue with each other. The sight of two Pokémon talking and her being able to understand every word.

"I must be either dead or dreaming." She thought, but quickly realized how ridiculous those ideas sounded.

"Um, excuse me?" She finally spoke up, causing the two to stop arguing and turn their attention onto her.

"Oh, sorry about that." The Oshawott said. Then added more sheepishly. "And sorry about bumping into you. I heard a scream and I thought someone was in trouble."

Then the Rowlet approached her. "Here, let me help you up." Then he helped get back on her feet and out of the water.

"That's okay." Zora said. "And sorry, that was me. I was startled, sorry for the false alarm."

Oshawott looked a bit disappointed. "Oh."

Rowlet nudged Oshawott with his wing and glared at him.

Then Oshawott awkwardly added. "I mean, I'm glad you're not hurt, but I was hoping to be able to rescue someone."

Zora tiled her head. "How come?"

Oshawott then stood as tall and proud as he could. "Me and Rowlet are gonna form our very own Warrior Team!"

"Warrior Team?" Zora asked. "What's that?"

Both Rowlet and Oshawott looked at her in shock. Then Rowlet asked "You really don't know? Did that headbutt make you lose your memories or something?"

"I should've kept my mouth shut." Zora thought.

"A Warrior team is the best thing ever!" Oshawott declared. "You explore cool dungeons for treasure, fight bad guys, and save Pokémon in need! And if you managed to reach the top ranks, you-"

A shout interrupted Oshawott's speech. "Help!"

"People like to shout in this forest, do they?" Zora thought.

"That sounds like someone might actually be in danger." Rowlet commented.

Oshawott got excited. "Well, what are we waiting for?! Let's go!" Then Oshawott charged to where the shout came from.

"Oshawott, wait!" Rowlet called as he flied after his friend.

"Hey, what about me?!" Zora shouted after them, but either ignored her or just didn't hear her. Not wanting to be alone, Zora ran after them.

By the time Zora finally caught up to the pair, she was a bit out of breath. This forest seemed unrealistically huge.

But she was able to reach the pair, who stood still. "What's going on?" She asked. Rowlet pointed at something, and Zora's eyes followed wherever his wing was pointing.

She saw a Litleo with his foot stuck under some rocks, and a trio of Spearows flying over him, trying to peck at him. The poor Litleo couldn't seem to do anything but duck his head and use his front paws to cover himself.

"Okay, we need a plan." Rowlet started. "We should-"

But Oshawott already charged at the Spearows, much to Rowlet's annoyance.

"Water Gun!" Oshawott shouted and shortly, used the Water Gun move to hit one of the Spearow, knocking it out. Then the other two charged at Oshawott, who started to run around to avoid getting pecked.

"That's why we should've formed a plan." Rowlet sighed as he and Zora watched Oshawott run around.

"Shouldn't we help him?" Zora asked. "You mentioned a plan?"

Rowlet nodded. "Well, since Oshawott decided to charge in, it provided a surprisingly good distraction. I'll sneak over and help Litleo while you help Oshawott."

"Wait, what?" Zora asked. "But I don't-"

"Can you guys help me out?!" Oshawott shouted as the Spearow continued to chase him.

Rowlet said nothing as he flew over the commotion, over to the Litleo. Zora hesitantly goes to Oshawott.

"H-hey! Pick on someone else!" She shouts at the Spearows. Then the Spearow ignore Oshawott and charge at her.

"C'mon, c'mon! I gotta have some moves!" Zora thought as she tried to avoid getting pecked.

She prepared to shout at the Spearows to go away, but then bits of fire came out of her mouth and hit on of the Spearows.

"Did I just use Ember?" Zora thought confused and amazed that she had done that.

"Do it again!" Oshawott ordered. "Water Gun!" He shouted as he aimed for the remaining Spearow

"Oh, uh, Ember!" Zora commanded, and once again, bits of fire came out her mouth and hit the final Spearow along with Oshawott's water gun.

Soon, all three of the Spearow have been taken out. Oshawott jumped towards Zora and cheered. "We did it! We were amazing, Fennekin!"

"Fennekin?" Zora thought. Then she remembered that she was a Fennekin. "I should probably tell them my name soon."

"You guys saved me!" The young Litleo said, happily. "Thanks for getting rid of the Spearows!" Then he turned to Rowlet. "And thank you for freeing me from that rock."

"Just doing my job." Rowlet replied, nonchalant, but the way he dusted his feathers indicated that he was pleased by the praise.

"Let me take you to my parents!" Litleo offered. "I have to tell them how you guys saved me!"

"Alright but stay with us." Rowlet suggested. "We don't need two Pokémon running off without caution."

Oshawott rolled his eyes. "But let's still hurry. If we wait too long, we might get attacked again."

Then Oshawott and Rowlet began to bicker again. Having nowhere else to go, Zora decided to follow.

"Maybe wherever Litleo takes us, someone can help me figure out how I became a Pokémon." Zora thought.
