Stood on the beach, McKenna listened as Sergeant Buckton spoke and saw the look on Bianca's face. Heath was only being accused of vandalism, but with his record he was likely to get some time, and right now, Bianca needed him.
Brax had tried to sort it out, but whoever had accused Heath was almost certain it was him and Charlie had no choice other than to take him in.
"It was me," McKenna confessed, causing everyone to look at her in surprise, "I did it."
"McKenna..." Charlie started, but McKenna ignored her and continued.
"I just wanted to get him back for smashing up Angelo's, so I graffitied his house and trashed his car in retaliation."
"In that case, McKenna Braxton, you're under arrest for vandalism," Charlie stated, handcuffing her and leading her over to the cruiser.
That decision had cost her a year of her life, but she had never once regretted it and now she was finally on her way home.
X.X
She had been sitting on the bus for nearly two hours, when it pulled into Summer Bay and she got off. With a deep breath, she took in her surroundings and slung her bag over her shoulder as she made her way to Angelos.
Despite it being her brother, McKenna would have been lying if she said that she wasn't a little nervous and hesitated at the door of the restaurant.
"We're closed," Brax said as the door shut behind her, keeping his attention on the piles of paper in front of time, "We open at two o'clock for lunch."
"Are you really going to make your little sister wait?" McKenna replied, grinning as Brax jumped up and throwing herself into his arms.
"I didn't think you got out for another month."
"Turns out that good behavior really does go a long way inside."
"I missed you, Ace... we've all missed you."
"I've missed you all too."
It had only taken two visits, two of the hardest goodbyes, and McKenna had stopped all visitation. Not out of spite or for any other reason, other than it was just too hard. Stuck in that place, isolated and alone, her mind had spiraled until she was at the lowest she'd ever been. Each day that passed was one day closer to her going home and so, she kept her head down... stayed out of trouble.
"Let me finish up here and I'll take you home to see the others, help yourself to a drink."
An hour later, Brax was finally done with his work and they headed out to the Ute. The drive to the house was silent, but McKenna was grateful and took the time to prepare herself. They soon pulled up to the house and McKenna hesitated, before following Brax inside.
"McKenna," Ricky greeted with a smile as she pulled her into a tight hug, "Welcome home."
"Thank you," McKenna mumbled in reply.
Author Notes: So this is the start of my new Braxton Boys story! I haven't got a solid plan, but I'm really hoping to keep putting out regular updates at least once a week! Thank you for reading
