Hello, everyone! Today, I, SuperHeroTimeFan, come to you with a new one-time crossover, unless this Story gets good reviews enough for me to try to make another one. Recently, I have been reading a lot of Pokémon stories, both FanFics and crossovers, and I have started to get some ideas. Here is my first attempt, a crossover with the Disney+ Show, The Mandalorian. I hope you like what I have. So, without further ado, here is my new story, This is the Pokémon Way. Please review, rate, and as always, please be sure to enjoy!
This story takes place in between The Mandalorian episodes "The Jedi" and "The Tragedy", and in between Pokémon XYZ episodes "Making Friends and Influencing Villains!" and Championing a Research Battle!".
Chapter 1: The Pokémon
Flying the Razor Crest from the Planet of Corvus, the Mandalorian, Din Djarin, was setting a path to take the Child, now identified as Grogu, to. He had been instructed by a Togruta called Ahsoka Tano to take the young Foundling to Tython, where he would choose his own path. Along the way, he had removed the ball from his controls and was holding it to him.
"Come on, Grogu," Din said as Grogu was looking to the ball curiously. "Take it. It's yours. Just take it from me."
A while passed as Grogu looked to the ball. He held his hands out, wanting it for himself. However, as it started to float, it dropped, his stomach now growling.
"That's right, we didn't get much to eat there, did we?" Din asked. He let out a sigh. "Well… let's see what Planet we're coming across," he said, remembering the Razor Crest was still in Hyperspace. He started to search through the Planets available. "The dragon meat we got won't be enough for the two of us, and neither is the soup. We need to save those for later," he said before coming across a Planet. "Unknown Regions?" he asked. "Let's see here…" he said as he scrolled through. "Not under the jurisdiction of the New Republic… and no records of Imperial activity," he noted. He turned back to Grogu. "What do you think, Kid?"
Grogu looked with his head tilted.
"The unknown it is, then." Din said, dropping out of Hyperspace.
The Razor Crest flew out and made its way to the new Planet in the Unknown Regions. Unknown to them, a tracker hidden inside of the ship was beeping.
Hovering into the lower atmosphere, Din looked out to see what was around. Several forests were on the ground, as well as cities spread at different distances from each other.
"Looks like somewhere the New Republic wouldn't spread the war to," Din said. "I'll set us down, and we can have a look at where we're at before we get ourselves more food," he said before looking to his monitor. "Dank Farrik," he cursed. "We need fuel too. We won't make it to the Outer Rim with half a tank."
Setting down the Razor Crest in a secluded area of the forest, Din got ready. He looked to his newest Beskar Spear Ahsoka gave to him and picked it up. Tapping it against his arm, he put it back. "Not yet," he said before grabbing a cloak to put over him while placing Grogu into his satchel. "Come on, Kid," he said. "Let's get going."
Din opened the hatch and walked out with Grogu near him.
Above the new Planet, an Imperial Light Cruiser slowly came out of Hyperspace. As soon as it fully emerged, a dragon-like creature noticed it and flew off just as an officer stepped onto the bridge.
"Is the tracking beacon still active?" the officer asked a Comms officer.
"Still planted, as our spy planted it," the Comms officer replied. "Shall we send down our forces?"
"Only a few at a time," a nasally voice said, one that was also distorted and hoarse. Everyone looked to the shadows as someone with metal limbs walked out, still keeping their identity hidden. "Remember, Moff Gideon wants the asset alive, and he is still preparing the Dark Troopers. We can't risk anything getting in the way."
"So I assume you will too be going down?" the officer asked.
"Soon, Lyste," the mysterious figure said. "For now, only send a small squadron to patrol the area. Then we send down our troops."
"Right away," Lyste said. "Prepare a recon advance team." He ordered.
On the Planet below, Din was continuing to walk through the forest. Through his helmet, he could see several life forms wandering about, either in trees, bushes, or any part of the forest. He looked to the side to see something that resembled a panda before seeing another creature that resembled a chipmunk with a green a green chestnut-like shell covering it.
"You wouldn't find these anywhere else," Din said before looking to Grogu. "Don't get any ideas," he warned carefully. "We don't know what these things could be capable of."
Grogu chuckled before looking to what appeared to be a creature resembling an octopus in the water. Cooing curiously, he looked to it, as did Din as soon as he saw what he was looking at. It looked back curiously, as if it had a mind of its own.
"That's not food." Din said.
Grogu did not listen and climbed out, walking towards the octopus. The water creature looked as if it were in a mood, and sent ink at the child, but he grabbed it and lifted it to his mouth.
"No, stop!" Din called, trying to grab Grogu. As he was, several more water creatures came out from the water, resembling blue jellyfish. Both Din and Grogu looked to them as they suddenly started to glow.
"Dank Farrik."
At the same time this was happening, four people were walking down a road. One of them was a boy with blue clothes and zigzag lines under his eyes. On his shoulder was a yellow mouse creature with a tail that resembled a lightning bolt. He wore a hat that partially covered his spiky raven hair.
Next to the raven-haired boy was a girl with dirty-blonde hair, wearing a pink blouse under a red vest. Over her hair was a magenta hat, and she had black stockings that reached her thighs, with brown shoes covering her feet. She looked to the raven-haired boy and blushed, her hand over a blue ribbon around her neck.
Following behind was a boy in a blue jumpsuit with blonde hair. He wore glasses and had a backpack on, the backpack being clutched carefully. With him was a younger girl with blonde hair as well, a gold pin on her hair and a brown shirt over her body, as well as a white skirt and black leggings, as well as pink shoes. She had a satchel that held in it an orange mouse in one pocket and a green creature with a pink hexagon shape on its belly.
The raven-haired boy was named Ash Ketchum, and his partner riding on his shoulder was known as Pikachu. The girl his age was named Serena, the boy who was wearing glasses was known as Clemont, and the younger girl was named Bonnie. In her bag were Dedenne and the mysterious creature known as Squishy.
The quartet was currently on their way to Snowbelle City, where Ash would get his final Gym Badge needed to compete in the Kalos League Tournament. Passing through the forest, Pikachu's ears suddenly perked as he looked around.
"What is it, Pikachu?" Ash asked.
"Pika." Pikachu said, getting off and looking into the forest pond.
Everyone looked to see the jellyfish Pokémon gathering. "Those are Tentacool, alright." Ash noted.
"Wow!" Bonnie commented as Serena held up her Pokédex to scan one of them.
"Tentacool, the Jellyfish Pokémon. 99% of its body is made up of water."
"That explains a lot," Serena said before noticing the angry expressions on their faces. "I wonder what's up with them?"
"Maybe another Pokémon trespassed on their territory," Clemont deducted. "They usually don't like being bothered."
"Good thing May isn't here," Ash joked. "She's got a bit of a bad history with these guys."
One of the Tentacool used a Water Gun, which seemed to bounce off of something large.
"That's it!" Din muttered. He activated his flamethrower and shot it, causing the Tentacool to scatter.
"Whoa! Who's using a Flamethrower against them?" Bonnie asked.
"They shouldn't be too scared of a move like that." Clemont said.
Grogu successfully lifted the octopus Pokémon out and started to walk off. As Din was busy with keeping the Tentacool at bay, he noticed Grogu walking to the road.
"Kid! Stop!"
"Anyone hear that?" Ash asked.
"Sounded like someone there," Serena said, looking to the forest. "But I don't see—"
Suddenly, the bushes started to shake. Pikachu got into a defensive stance while everyone else readied themselves for what could come at them.
"Bonnie, get behind me!" Clemont ordered, to which Bonnie did.
"What do you think it is?" Bonnie asked as Dedenne chirped curiously, with Squishy letting out an inquisitive warble.
"I don't know, but it could be…" Ash started before Grogu walked out, holding the Tentacool in his hands. "Um… cute?"
"Is that another new Pokémon?" Bonnie asked as she got out from behind Clemont to awe at the child. "You're so cute!"
"I wonder… maybe it's some sort of…" Clemont started as he adjusted his glasses before scanning Grogu with his Pokédex.
"No Data. Please aim scanner at Pokémon."
"So it's another new Pokémon!" Ash exclaimed excitedly.
"I thought it was something like Chespin," Clemont said. "Guess I was wrong."
"Don't worry, Clemont. I'm sure we'll find out more about it later." Serena said, taking out some macaroons.
Grogu looked to the food curiously before seeing a whole box. He reached his hand out, to which Pikachu noticed.
"Pi… Pika?" Pikachu asked.
"What is it?" Ash asked before seeing Grogu. "He must be hungry."
"I can make some more later," Serena said as her box started to shake. "But maybe we can…"
All of a sudden, the macaroon box flew from Serena and to Grogu. He laughed happily as he started to eat away at one of the blue ones.
"How'd he do that?!" Bonnie exclaimed.
"Maybe he's a Psychic Type," Clemont said in shock. "Or maybe it's…"
"Kid!"
Everyone turned and gasped to see Din running towards them. They all readied their Pokéballs as he drew closer, only for him to stop in front of Grogu.
"First the school, and now here?" Din asked. He noticed the Octillery Pokémon and picked it up as it flailed around. "You're gonna put this back where it came from, Grogu. I don't want you to play with seafood anymore."
"Um… hi?" Ash asked nervously.
Din had just finished putting the Octillery back into Grogu's hands for him to return to the pond. He noticed the voice and turned around.
"Sorry about the kid," Din said. "Likes to eat a lot, any kind of food," he explained. "Got me into trouble a couple times. What did he take from you? I'll pay you back for it."
"No, it's okay," Serena said, slightly intimidated by the Mandalorian's armor. "Um… who are you?"
"I don't really give my real name," Din replied. "Everyone just calls me Mandalorian, or Mando."
"Is that what you are?" Ash asked.
"You could say that," Din said before Grogu returned, partially covered in ink. "I hope Grogu didn't give you too much of a scare."
"His name is Grogu?" Bonnie asked.
"Last time I learned it, yeah," Din replied. "Now… who are you?"
"I'm Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town, and this is my buddy, Pikachu." Ash said, motioning to himself and then the electric mouse Pokémon.
"Pikachu!" Pikachu chirped happily.
"Yeah, I got your name." Din said, looking to Pikachu curiously.
"I'm Serena." Serena introduced herself.
"My name is Clemont, and this is my sister, Bonnie." Clemont said.
"This is Dedenne and Squishy." Bonnie said, holding out her bag to show Dedenne and Squishy.
"Nenene!" Dedenne chirped while Squishy simply warbled.
"Friendly lot. Pleased to meet you," Din said before looking around. "A lot of strange creatures here," he noted. "Didn't know that a place like this existed in the galaxy."
"Where else would Pokémon live?" Ash asked.
Din perked his head to the name. "Pokémon?" he asked. "What are those?"
"You don't know what a Pokémon is?" Ash asked. "Where did you come from?"
"I was raised by other Mandalorians," Din said. "From the Planet of Mandalore in the Outer Rim."
"Wait, you're from another Planet?" Clemont asked. "So, you're an alien?"
"Flesh and bone, like you," Din said. "But I swore the Mandalorian Creed. I am not to show my face to any living being, nor can I remove my armor."
"What about when you need to go, or eat?" Ash asked.
"Pika…" Pikachu wondered as well.
"… There are a few exceptions," Din said after some thought. "Anyways, I need some fuel and a slight repair to my craft. Do you know where the nearest town is?" he asked.
"We were just heading there for a break," Serena said. "You can join us on our way to the Pokémon Center."
"Thank you," Din said before a wild Rhyhorn suddenly roared over in their direction. Upon instinct, he took out his blaster. "Easy there!"
"Whoa, hey!" Ash yelled, grabbing Din's arm. "Why do you have a gun?!"
"Because I carry it."
"You don't need to shoot it," Ash said. "We don't harm Pokémon like this."
Din turned his head. Ash felt like he saw an eyebrow raised high despite not seeing his face.
"You harm Pokémon without weapons?" Din asked.
"We can catch it, but you can't use whatever weapons you have." Serena said.
"I have another idea," Din said as he put his blaster away. He carefully walked towards the Rhyhorn and held his hands out. "Come on, remember what Kuiil taught you…" he said before getting close enough. "Settle down, settle down…" he soothed, getting the Rhyhorn to calm down. "Steady…" he pressed. Soon, the Rhyhorn was calmed, and he rubbed its head.
"That's amazing." Serena said.
"Better than my first try." Ash admitted.
Din climbed on top of the Rhyhorn, and rode it calmly towards the group.
"How did you do that?" Clemont asked.
"A late friend of mine taught me to ride a similar creature," Din explained. "He's… gone now."
"Sorry to hear that." Bonnie said sadly.
"Dedenne." Dedenne chirped similarly.
"I miss him, but I'll never forget him," Din said. "So, how far until town?"
"Up ahead," Ash said, pointing ahead before looking to Grogu. "You want Grogu back in your hands? Or could we hold onto him so you can focus?"
"Let's see how much he likes you first," Din said. "I think he's taken a liking to you and this Planet already… Ash."
"Thanks, Mando," Ash said before walking on ahead. "Let's go!"
Serena looked to Ash and smiled, her hand at her ribbon. Din noticed as he turned to her.
"He's something else to you, isn't he?" Din asked.
Serena turned as red as Pikachu's cheeks. "Um… I don't know what you're talking about." She lied.
"Serena, I can see body temperatures, and yours just rose like the heat of a planet I've been to twice," Din said. "He know how you feel?"
"I've been trying to tell him…" Serena said shyly.
"If you need advice on romance… look to anyone besides me," Din said with a chuckle. "I never found someone to settle down with. I've got the father part, but not so much on the love. But from what I know… listen to your heart."
"O-okay," Serena said as she followed Ash, Bonnie and Clemont to the town ahead. "Are you sure?"
"This is the way," Din said. "I have spoken."
From some bushes, watching the group make their way to the town ahead, a woman with violet-red hair and a male with icy blue hair, both wearing white suits with a red R on the chests, as well as a cat with a golden charm on its forehead and on its hind legs, were watching everything. These were Team Rocket, its members consisting of Jessie, James, and their team Pokémon, Meowth, the cat scratch Pokémon.
"Look at that guy and his armor," Jessie said. "And that little twerp he carries with him."
"And it seems to have some sort of power," James added. "Imagine if we gave both to the Boss."
"Da Twoips ain't getting away from us dis time!" Meowth exclaimed. "We're gonna get the big rewards for sure!"
"I smell a promotion!" Jessie exclaimed giddily before one of her Pokéballs opened up, revealing a blue blob with a black tail and a goofy smile.
"Wobbuffet!" the patient Pokémon hollered with a salute.
"AWAY WE GO!"
Before Team Rocket could follow the group, the sound of whirring caught their attention. Looking up, they saw several TIE Fighters flying overhead, not too close to the ground.
"What are those?" Meowth asked.
"Let's see what that's all about." James said.
"Wobba-Wobba!" Wobbuffet agreed.
However, both the conversation and the noise went unnoticed by Din. He simply watched as Ash and his friends looked after Grogu ahead.
"Maybe they're not so bad." Din said to himself before riding on ahead.
Squishy eyed Grogu before the two closed their eyes. All Pikachu and Dedenne could do was watch curiously.
"So… you have it too…"
