- Because I have no ideas for Highschool drama and shit.
In an averagely populated but small town, a plentiful amount of people form what is called a party. They gather in the center of the town, inside a stone building resembling a large church. As they reside in the refurbished church, it is up to their decision to take up on quests requested by the civilians and to complete it for rewards. The majority of the rewards being cash or special items used for combat or support, and many more.
On this specific day, like any normal day, dozens of parties gather inside the church. Some of them just looking for a place to have a conversation with, some storing their hard earned cash into the bank, some eating and drinking, and some looking for quests.
Amongst all these people that made up to about a dozen parties, one stood out the most because of her stunning beauty and shining but cold aura.
The teenage girl looked as if she was brought down from the heavens to judge the humans of either their punishment, or their reward.
Both being debatable.
Her long raven silky hair flowed as if it was being moved underwater, rather than in the surface. Her pale skin was most definitely noticeable and with those blue piercing eyes to be the icing on the cake.
But that was nothing to what she was equipped with, making everyone look like side characters.
She was equipped with white titanium armor that had been outlined by the color of blue. The armor covered her chest, shoulders, back, including with leggings and footwear. The only vulnerable parts of her were her arms, hands, neck, and head. It seemed she wasn't equipped with a weapon on her, perhaps she had forgotten it or had no need for it, assuming no one would try to pick a fight with her or no monster would dare attack her.
While the teenager did stand out in the crowdiness of the interior building, none would dare interact with her. Either from fear, anxiety, or nervousness. Perhaps they felt inferior to this mysterious girl that suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
The girl made her way to the bulletin board bombarded with quests to complete.
The others who were in her way stepped aside to watch what she was about to do next as if they were her guards, stepping aside to make way for her highness.
The quest ratings were from 1-10, 1 being the easiest and 10 being the hardest. But the highest rating quest was only a 5 rating.
[ Defeat a 20 year old blaze dragon terrorizing the crops and land. ]
She instantly grabbed the quest.
The building and the people shook in shock.
Without a second thought, she left the building with the quest on her hands.
As she walked through the town, she heard a man dressed in white clothing, presumably a doctor, speaking to another person who was wearing a dark cloaked hoodie, who presumably was his patient.
"My sincerest apologies, sir. I have used the last of my best medicine on you and it seems to have failed. Judging from your current state, I can safely say that you have a few hours to live. My only advice is for you to say your final goodbyes to your family and loved ones. I hope you the best in the afterlife." The doctor says to his patient.
"Am I going to die?" The figure said.
"I'm afraid so. If your family is outside of town, you should be safe. There's been a sudden decrease of monsters for some reason. Someone's been killing them all so you should have no difficulty in walking out of town." The doctor reassures the figure.
The doctor was indeed right as the amount of monsters such as orcs, goblins, and ogres had decreased.
"Impossible..." The patient whispered.
The patient turned away to walk forward to wherever it was going, presumably to it's family to give them the news that it was going to die from an incurable disease.
Unbeknownst to the dying person, it bumps into the black haired girl who didn't seem to have noticed her presence. As a few seconds ago, the cloaked person only looked down to hide it's face from everyone it walked past.
The cloaked person falls to the ground and weakly and desperately tries to stand up, only for the girl to offer him assistance, grabbing it's arm to slowly lift it.
The patient stands once more, staring at the girl, but with it's face still looking down.
"My apologies." The girl spoke.
She catches a glimpse of the cloaked person's lower face, only it's jaw, but enough to notice it's skin paler than her own, cracking from the outside and it's flesh crumbling deep within from the disease it unfortunately caught.
The sick patient did not respond, instead, it walked away, to it's final destination.
The girl stared as it walked away, limping it's entire body to the unknown future.
She turned around to continue her quest to slay the blaze dragon.
Had she slayed one before?
Nope.
This was her first quest and her first time into the outside world far away from where she lives. But she is confident she is strong enough to take this quest. After all, she came from one of the strongest and powerful families in this world. A young dragon should be ease for her as she needs to improve herself. She wanted to make her family proud and with the rewards and loot from the dragon, it's hard to say no from an easy kill.
...
The girl arrived at the blaze dragon's last known location, and with help from a few locals that were farmers who also had their crops burnt from the sheer presence of the fiery dragon. The path of the dragon was obvious as it left behind a burnt pathway, burning the grass, the trees, some animals that were unfortunate to be in front of it's path, and even the dirt itself.
She looked at the devastation it brought upon. It's sheer destruction starving families, destroying markets and the food stock for the winter.
She had to deal with it quickly before it could hurt anymore people.
It felt good, knowing that she was about to save a lot of people's lives from killing this destructive dragon.
As she took another step, she notices the change of the temperature in the air. While heat does rise, it seems to be that the heat of the blaze dragon seemed to be expansive to the point it would go sideways.
Nonetheless, the dragon was arriving in her proximity. The ground shook with pebbles of dirt jumping up and down from the sheer size and force of the colossal creature.
She saw the orange burning color of the creature, charging towards her at all fours. The blaze dragon was surrounded by a burning aura, the inner fire being blue, burning even the air around it. Even though it had wings, it didn't find a need to fly to gain the high ground, as it somewhat knew that the girl was no match for it's power.
And it was right.
The dragon had more experience than the woman, being 5 years older than the girl.
The girl formed an ice sword out of her hand, attempting to launch an attack towards the creature. But the blazing dragon let out a roar, completely melting the ice sword immediately from the intense heat inside it's body, ejecting towards the girl. The girl panicked, taking a few steps backwards as the dragon swiped her away with it's claws.
Thankfully, the girl's armor was more of a sturdy and durable than her ice sword as she would've been into many pieces and also a burnt bacon had it not been her expensive and powerful titanium armor.
The girl landed on the hard dirt with tremendous force, roughly 30 feet away from the dragon's direction. While she was in one piece, some of her bones weren't exactly what they used to be about a few seconds ago.
She couldn't move a single muscle from the dragon's sharp claw attack.
Perhaps from the dragon's sheer roar in vibration, paralyzing her body to stand still to be an easy target. Or maybe the girl accepting her demise because of her foolishness. How foolish she was to assume she was ready enough for the outside world. And to make her feel even more stupid, she took the most difficult quest she could find in an attempt to receive praise from her family.
Being praised by your family, wasn't worth it, when your life is on the line.
The blaze dragon was closing in the gap between it and the girl as it charged towards her once more. But this time, it wanted to finish her in one blow. Seeing how she survived it's physical attack but barely, she was obviously no match for it's fire breath.
The blaze dragon stood in front of her, charging it's finishing blow in front of her very eyes. It's eyes glowed and a beam of light was about to erupt out of it's mouth, and it's neck leaned backward to prepare for the immense recoil.
But suddenly, a small pink beam of light pierced through the dragon's neck, injuring the dragon to force it to step back with fire leaking out of it's neck wound. After it instantly heals, the blaze dragon scouts around to see who dared strike it.
Suddenly, 2 boys in heavy armor dashed towards the dragon from both sides, slashing their swords underneath the dragon's abdomen. Then they diagonally make their way to the dragon's legs, cutting the tendons off, and then to again diagonally making their way to the next legs, cutting the tendons off again.
The dragon falls on it's belly, letting out a roar in pain and anguish.
One of the swordsman leaped up on top of it's back and stabbed their massive blade into it.
And a new female swordsman appears, stabbing it's blade into the dragon's tail, deep into the ground to prevent it from using it's tail as a last resort weapon.
Then the previous swordsman leaps up high in the sky next to the dragon's neck, and then vertically slices the dragon's neck, decapitating it in the process. It's lifeless body falls to the floor, shaking the ground once more from it's sheer weight and size.
The shocked girl stared in awe as 5 people walked towards her to check if she was okay.
"Are you okay?" The blonde boy said, offering her a hand in the process.
"Y-Yes, I'm okay." The girl said, after suddenly being healed by another girl with red glasses.
"You must be really confident to think you could take on the blaze dragon by yourself." The pink haired girl says to her.
"She survived a direct hit from the dragon. She is no joke though." The boy with the massive blade said. His blade was 2 inches thick, 1 feet wide and 5 feet long.
"With powers like that, there's no way we can't have you on our team. What do you say?" The blonde boy asks her.
After seeing what 5 people could do to a dragon, there was no way she would refuse.
"Yes, I wish to join your party." The girl said.
"Awesome, what's your name?" The blonde boy asks,
"My name is Yukino Yukinoshita."
[ 4 years later ]
The small town that Yukino first visited the moment she was allowed to explore the world had expanded itself more in 4 years than it ever did for the 20 years it had been found.
Due to large amount of funding from anonymous people and a sudden increase in volunteer work, it had expanded about 1,000 more feet from each side of the town. More houses for people to live in, more shops for sellers to sell their products to consumers. Beautiful places and restaurants for tourists to explore and dine in.
Thus, the town thrived and had become the most infamous and populated town in human history. Everyday they are busy, and everyday they get richer and richer.
But what was the reason why it was specifically this town that grew exponentially more than others? The question is mainly about who did it. Logically, it was everyone who worked together to make it happened. But the people behind the scenes were the ones who funded the entire process.
The ones who funded the entire operation to change the small town live in a medium size 2 floor mansion that had a front yard and backyard about 50 feet in length and width. The mansion was built entirely with concrete and other materials with the exterior walls being white and the interior walls being black, brown, and white. The triangular roof held a dark brick material in place on top of the mansion.
Approximately 6 people live in the mansion, which is a small amount compared to the many rooms it has.
"I think it's about time we should complete a quest. It's been a few weeks since we've completed one. Enough slacking, everyone." Yukino crossed her arms, looking at her entire party on the couch, relaxing or napping in the middle of the afternoon.
"Yeah, give me like 5-10 minutes so I can mentally prepare myself." Tobe responded nonchalantly with the back of his forearm covering his eyes from the light.
Yukino took it personally, opening the palm of her hand towards him, "Freeze." A cold storm emitted from Yukino's hands, completely freezing Tobe's hair.
"Ouch! Alright! Alright! Ebina, please heal me before I get frostbite on my hair." Tobe turns his attention to Ebina who rested beside him while sitting up.
With no words, Ebina pointed her finger towards Tobe's hair, completely defrosting it.
"That's the 5th time you've froze his hair this week. I won't be surprised if it completely shatters next time." A blonde woman by the name of Yumiko says, with a bag of potato chips in her hands, munching as she spectates Tobe's hair melting.
"Aw man, now it's wet from all the ice! Be right back." Tobe gets up, scurrying to the bathroom to get a towel to dry his hair.
"Yukinon is right. There's been an increase of monsters these past 4 years and they're rising fast. If we don't do anything about it, then we will be letting all the civilians down." A pink haired girl by the name of Yui Yuigahama spoke with Yukino, walking beside her with her gear on her person.
"They're both right." A man with shiny gold armor walks into the living room, with everyone's attention at him, including Tobe who peeked his head with a towel wrapped on top of his hair.
"I've been getting reports of sudden attacks from different monsters from different parties. There are quests to take them down. It should be easy for us seeing how strong we have gotten over the past 4-5 years. There is no moment to rest as it is our job to protect this town."
"But there are tons of other parties that can also protect this town. We should let them have their moments while we can just relax-" Seeing Yukino's hand extend towards Tobe's face again, he stopped what he was about to say, "We should go help them!" Running off to get his gear on.
"Alright since Hayato said it, I'll be going too." Yumiko crumples her empty bag of chips, throwing it across the living room towards the trash in the kitchen.
"Guess I'll go too." Ebina follows in pursuit.
As everyone had finally agreed to go complete a quest for the first time in weeks, "Thank you, Hayato." Yukino gently says to him.
Hayato nods before walking off outside of the mansion to wait for the rest of his friends to ready up.
"Thank you too, Yui." Yukino turns to her friend.
"Mhm!" She smiles happily.
...
The entire party walked towards the center of town, entering the church to scavenge any type of quests to complete.
"There's a quest to find a lost katana, by Zaimo... I can't even say the name. But the reward is paid in hefty cash. We could find it very easily for a quick buck." Tobe suggested, showing everyone a drawing of a katana and the cash reward being somewhat surprisingly high for just a lost weapon.
"We're here to eliminate those who threaten the people's safety. Not find a lost weapon. Unless it's a lost person or lost cat, then we can take it. But for now we can let other parties take the quest if they choose to." Yukino puts down his suggestion.
Tobe questions her, "Why did you add a lost cat in there-"
"How about moving a herd of cows into this farmer's land." Ebina shows everyone the paper.
"It sounds like someone being lazy to do their own job to protect their property. If there was a threat to his life or his family, then yes. But since it's only about his property. Hence, no." Yukino does the same to Ebina.
"Transporting loads of food from farms to the town? And the cash reward will provide a month worth of rent." Yui spots a quest paper in front of her.
"We could do that, since we are 6 member party. We'll keep that in mind if there are no other good quests."
"How about finding these wanted people for food theft." Yumiko suggests, showing a paper with 2 bandits that call themselves, The Wet Bandits.
"We can let other parties deal with that. A bunch of bandits shouldn't be too hard to handle with a party with very little experience. And they don't seem to be the ones to harm people."
A paper magically assembles itself onto the bulletin board.
"This one just came up, defeat 25 large wolves killing my sheep herd and harming my wife and daughter." Hayato spots a quest, grabbing it to show it to Yukino.
"Yes that will do. We need to sharpen our combat skills so we don't slack off.." Yukino reminds them of their purpose as to why they are doing this again.
The entire crew arrived to the destination of the farm, instantly spotting a huge herd of sheep that covered many acres of the farm. The amount of sheeps could estimate about over 500, and close to 600. The amount of hard work to making this amount of sheep was nothing to scoff at.
Everyone's jaw dropped from the view, beside Yukino and Hayato as it did surprised them but not to the point that they would have the same over exaggerated expression as their friends.
"Jesus, there are hundreds of them! Is this the only farm solely producing every product that involves wool?" Tobe exclaimed.
"I believe so. Just look at them. I want to pet some." Yui hurriedly increased her walking pace, going downhill to pet some of the sheeps.
"This is definitely a good call from Yukino, nice job." Hayato glanced at her.
"You were the one who found the quest for us. The gratitude belongs to you rather than me." She glanced back before walking towards the farm to talk to the farmers.
Everyone else followed behind her and they discussed with the farmer who requested the large wolves to be put down for good.
"They are residing in that forest west of this farm. Since they see an endless supply of food in my farm, they've been targeting my sheep herd for about a week now and I couldn't deal with one of them. So I decided to request a party of people to help me. And the reward will be plentiful." The farmer spoke.
"Rest assured. We are the solution to your problem. Do the wolves hunt during the night?" Yukino asks.
"Indeed, that is where they hold the most advantage as I cannot see in the dark while they can. These wolves are pretty smart to using their unique skills to their advantage. Please still be careful."
Tobe smirks, "Do you know who we are, mister? We are the most powerful people in this world. Don't worry." While saying that, his thumb points to himself rather than everyone else."
"Quit showing off, Tobe. We aren't like that." Yui spoke, playfully elbowing his ribs to knock it off.
"Very well. We will wait until night falls and eliminate this threat." Yukino walks outside to wait for night to fall.
Yui follows her from behind.
"Y-You guys are that confident enough to already assume that you're able to wipe them all out in a single night?" The shocked and surprised farmer gasped at their confidence, as he wasn't able to kill not even a single wolf with his tools.
"Place your trust on us as we are more than capable of handling this by ourselves. There is no need for you or your family to intervene or to be involved." Hayato reassures him so the farmer doesn't have to worry for their safety and also have any thoughts about joining to help them out.
"Well if you are all that confident, and you guys don't need any of my help, and you are all willing to wait for night to fall, please eat anything you'd like once I have dinner ready for my family." The farmer let's them know that any food in the house is available for them.
"Sweet. We don't have to buy food tonight." Tobe and Ebina high-five each other.
"Alright, I'm just gonna relax on the couch. This armor tires me out if I wear it for too long." Yumiko walks towards the living room of the farmhouse to relax on one of their soft couches. Ebina sits right next to her to settle down just like Yumiko.
As Hayato and Tobe were about to walk to their separate paths, "Hang on there boys, I have a job for you. My back is starting to hurt again so I need you to cut some logs for me." The farmer requested that they both help him do some manly work.
"Do we really have to?" Tobe complains.
"This manly work is how you're going to impress your future wives. That's how I married mine, just by cutting some wood with an axe and now look at where I am." The farmer adds some motivation and encouragement for Tobe's laziness.
With nothing to argue, Tobe agrees. And Hayato soon agrees and they both follow the farmer.
...
About a few hours later as it had already been the evening, the sun was about to set and the entire party crew were feasting on the dinner that was cooked for them by the farmer and his wife and daughter.
As they all finished, most of them took a quick nap before it would be time for them to wait for the wolves at a specific time given by the farmer.
All besides Hayato and Yukino who waited at the front porch.
"Are you tired? You should get some sleep." Hayato suggested to her, seeing as Yukino had been waiting the entire evening with only a bathroom break and dinner break.
"I am fine. I've already taken my hours of sleep." She says, before the silence consumes them both.
But then Hayato brings up a personal question to her, "When are you going to visit your family? You haven't seen them ever since you joined our party, 4 years ago."
It took a few seconds for her to absorb the question and let her come up with an answer.
"In about 2 days, I will have to visit them to tell them about my experience with the outside world." Yukino waited for Hayato to reply back, her hand clutching to her chest.
"Well I should probably go to since my family will also be there. Though I still don't know why you won't tell the others that you're royalty? They won't hate you forever."
"It's a secret I want only you to know." Yukino closed her eyes, hiding her face from Hayato's view, and again, tightens her fist on her chest.
"I-I see." Surprised by her sudden response, and catching a glimpse of redness on her cheeks, he decided to not continue the conversation as things could get awkward.
But, Hayato looks away and sighed, "Yukino, there's something I gotta tell you."
She turned to him, "What is it that you need?" She asks.
But before Hayato could move his lips to speak, both him and Yukino could hear a pack of wolves howling, growling, and barking all simultaneously. And to add to that, the hundreds of sheep could be heard with them either running, or screaming in pain.
They both quickly get their original duties, running inside the farm house to alert the others that the wolves have arrived.
"Everyone, we must do this hastily and cleanly." Yukino says, already equipped with her white titanium armor.
"And be professional about this. Don't make a mess, and don't get to crazy out there." Hayato advises them, with his golden armor, his shoulder pads shaped like a shield, and his knight shiny sword ready to slay the wolves.
Yui who had been awake, relaxing on a chair, spins around to magically form her pink robe attire and pink wizard hat, summoning a wooden staff with a pink orb on the top of it to cast her spells.
Ebina who sat next to Yumiko, dressed herself with a red robe with no wizard hat, also magically summons her staff, but it being a steel green staff to cast heals and support buffs.
Yumiko who sat between Ebina and Yui, wore the same golden armor Hayato wore, but more slimmed and smaller, and pulled out her golden greatsword.
Tobe awoke from his nap, already in his slightly larger orange bronze armor that covered everywhere in his body beside his head, neck, and hands. In his hand, was a massive thick orange glowing steel blade, both in height, width, and length.
"Let's do this. And then I can go sleep." Tobe hypes himself up for the slaughter.
The entire 6 party crew quickly walk out of the front door, following where the sounds were coming from. They all jumped over the countless herd of sheeps running towards them, away from the danger.
"Night-vision!" Ebina casts a spell on everyone to give them the ability to see into the night.
With the ability to see into the night just like the wolves, they all spot all of them immediately, seeing the 25 wolves tearing through multiple sheeps.
These wolves were twice as large as regular ones, either because of evolution or mutation.
Nonetheless, they were ordered to eliminate all of them.
With 5 fighters, and 25 wolves, each of them took 5 wolves at once, with Ebina staying from afar to see if her friends needed more buffs casted onto them.
"Homing Rope."
Miura, stabs her greatsword into the ground, and 5 beams of strings beamed right towards the wolves, wrapping around their legs to impair their mobility.
With the wolves stuck and still, she charges toward them, with a horizontal slash, beheading all 5 of them at once with one clean cut.
"Vicious Strikes.." Yui casts her spell.
And out from her staff, comes 5 pink lightning strikes, homing towards the wolves, shocking them and eviscerating them to nothing but dark ashes.
"Ahahahaha!" Tobe maniacally laughs, slicing through every wolf in half that leaped towards him with their jaws.
The numbers were too low for him to actually announce any of his actual skill set.
He stabs a wolf that jumped above him in the abdomen, kicking it off his large blade and swiping another wolf with blunt force, enough to decapitate the head off of it.
Hayato too did the same, but stayed calm and collected, effortlessly dodging and slashing through the wolves that attempted to bite his face off.
With Yukino, she summoned her ice blade that resembled a regular sword, but just because it looked less intimidating than the rest of her friend's weapons, was it's entire plan all along.
Made to look weak, the wolves growled and snarled at her, obviously sensing imminent danger from her. But with no choice but to fight back, all 5 of them charged towards her at once with their only weapons being their claws and jaws.
Yukino closed her eye, "My power shall be absolute..." She moves her sword to form an X symbol.
The X symbol swiftly moves forward towards the wolves, and as it makes contact, it freezes all 5 of them completely, encasing them in a rectangular ice cage.
"-zero..."
The frozen wolves fall to the floor, the ice shattering and so their body parts. But their blood trapped in the ice could go nowhere but stay still inside the body parts, making it much less of a mess compared to her friends.
And all of this happened within a span of 10 second, all 5 of them simultaneously killing the entire wolf pack together.
"That was easy." Tobe thought it would be much of a challenge, wiping the blood off his enormous blade with
"It would be more challenging if I had to face about 50 of them alone without night vision, unarmed." Miura commented, putting her greatsword behind her back.
"What Yumiko said, sounded about right." Yui magically removes her pink robe and staff, dressed in normal clothing.
Ebina caught up to them, already in her normal clothing.
"We've dealt with more challenging foes. Let's just be glad that they didn't run towards the farmhouse to attack the family or anything they would've done." Hayato says to them.
"It seems I may have been wrong about all of your skills rusting. But this is just the beginning. We will do more quests in the future to improve ourselves." Yukino's sword melts onto the ground, the dirt soaking the water up.
"Since when did you become the party leader? I can tolerate you freezing my hair from time to time, but I draw the line of following your orders." Tobe asks out of the blue, obviously tired of being ordered by Yukino and not Hayato.
Before Yukino could speak to him, Hayato intervene as to not escalate the situation any further.
"Yukino just wants the best for us. Let's clean up this mess before our night vision runs out."
They all begun clearing the bodies of the wolves, and some sheeps that fell victim to their hunt. The farmer had said to dump the bodies of the wolves into a pile so he could butcher their remaining body parts for extra free food which was a smart decision for every farmer.
Feeling too tired, Ebina cleaned up everyone with her spell, making everyone smell and look clean. And then they slept together in the living room.
The 2 boys sleeping next to each other, and the 4 girls sleeping at a different spot but still together.
The next morning, the farmer and his wife and daughter thanked the party for helping them when they were in need of them. They got their reward and then left to head home early in the morning.
"Say, Ebina." Tobe sparks up a conversation.
"Hm?"
"What do you think of me cutting down some logs?" An out of context question he asks.
"Whatever you want to do is fine by me, I guess?" Obviously confused, Ebina has no clue what brought him to ask him that question.
"Alright, that seems like a yes to me."
By the time they arrived home to their mansion, Yukino had something to say to them, something she had been hiding secret but she could no longer keep it as it would affect the party.
"Everyone. My family has sent me a letter to come and visit them." She says to them all.
All of them stood still to listen to what she was about to say next.
"I could no longer hide this as it won't do any good to keep hiding it anymore. But... I am from a very rich and powerful family. And I am a very important figure to a lot of people. And I must attend to a party that my father will be hosting. I will be gone for a few days, maybe as long a week."
The entire party said nothing.
Until, "Alright, let's come with you then." Miura spoke up.
"Pardon me?" Yukino wanted to clarify what she just heard, as she was expecting a totally different answer.
"Let's go right now. You think we're gonna let you have all the fun? I want free food and a nice place to sleep." Miura said to her.
"Yeah, same here. There's no way we're gonna let you go alone." Yui said next.
Then Tobe, Ebina, and Hayato agreed as well.
"Hayato already told us that he was part of a royal family or something. Though we haven't actually met his parents." Tobe says, reassuring that Yukino wasn't alone in her social status.
The worst of the worst of their imagination did not come to fruition, thankfully.
The group packed up their belongings and headed off to the Yukinoshita's mansion.
