Gonine stared at his reflection in the water. His mother, Videl, had always said he looked like his father. He had black hair and two big black eyes that were only just not covered by his fringe.
"Hey, Sapphire," Gonine began.
"Yeah?" Sapphire asked. She was sitting beside him. They looked at each other.
"Do you think I look like my dad?" he asked.
"Umm.... kinda." Sapphire replied. "Actually, a lot."
"What, you mean my eyes and my hair colour?" Gonine said, looking back at his reflection.
"Yeah, but also in the face. You've got your dad's face, too." Sapphire told him.
"Really? You think so?" Gonine seemed a little surprised.
"Uh - huh." Sapphire nodded. "I think so."
"Hey, who do you look most like?" Gonine looked back at her. "Your mom or your dad?"
"Well, my mom, of course." Sapphire replied. "I don't have a dad. Nameks are asexual."
"What does that mean?" Gonine asked.
"I actually don't know ^_^" Sapphire replied. "But Piccolo once told me that we were asexual, so we only have one parent. That was my mom. She spat out an egg - and the egg was me."
"You hatch from eggs?" Gonine gasped.
"Mm - hm." Sapphire nodded. "But my mom died a little after I was born, so I don't have any parents."
"But Piccolo's still your dad." Gonine told her.
"How'd you figure?"
"Well, a mom or a dad isn't just someone you're related to." Gonine began. "They're the ones who raise you and protect you."
"Really?" Sapphire questioned. Gonine nodded.
"Yeah. That's what I think, anyway." he turned back to his reflection. "I think Piccolo's your dad."
"Hmm...."

"Sapphire!" a deep voice called to her.
"Piccolo?" Sapphire looked towards him, and stood up.
"Come on, I was looking all over for you!" Piccolo didn't seem very impressed. "I told you you could only play out for an hour!"
"Hi, Mr. Piccolo." Gonine greeted him.
"Hey, kid. How's the family?" Piccolo replied.
"Okay."
"Good." Piccolo looked back at Sapphire. "Where were you?!"
"I'm sorry. I lost track of time." Sapphire replied guiltily.
"...." Piccolo sighed. "Just come on. We've got some training to so."
"Yes, Piccolo." she looked at Gonine. "See ya later, okay?"
"Hey - remember what I told you." Gonine replied.
"Oh yeah."
"Huh?" Piccolo frowned in confusion. He looked at Gonine. "What did you tell her?"
"Nothing." Sapphire replied. She looked at him. "Are we going to train?"
"... Yeah. Sure." Piccolo shook his head. "Come on." he flew off, followed by Sapphire.

"I'm tired!" Sapphire whined, sitting down. "Come on, it's late! Let me stop now..."
"Hmm..." Piccolo looked up at the sky. Sunset. "Okay then." he sat down. "You can go to sleep, but I'll stay up a little longer."
"Okay." Sapphire lay down. She yawned, and closed her eyes. "'Night, dad."
"'Night Sapph -" Piccolo stopped dead when he realized what she'd just called him. He looked at her. "Sapphire?"
"Mm...?" Sapphire was already half - asleep.
"..... Hm." Piccolo cracked a small smile. "Goodnight, Sapphire."
