"Here, Harry, there's a letter from Ron," Cordelia said, then handed the parchment to Harry.
He thanked her and opened the le; lia lia returned to her room to read what Hermione had written. The letter read that everything was going well at Hogwarts and that she and Harry were missed terribly. Hermione also told Cordelia that they were now learning human transfigurations and that she and Ron had signed up to learn to become animagi. She told Cordelia that Tonks Weasley was now their DADA professor and that she was an excellent teacher.
Tonks ends up marrying Charlie Weasley after realizing that Remus would never return her feelings. Charlie had returned from Romania to help the Order, and he and Tonks became reacquainted and eventually fell in love. Now, Tonks and Charlie had been married for a year and couldn't be happier. Hermione also informed Cordelia that Tonks and Charlie were expecting their first child.
Cordelia smiled when she read the letter. She always felt sorry for her cousin for being in love with a man that would never love her back. But Tonks was not Remus's mate. Remus didn't know who she was, but he was sure it was not Tonks. Cordelia hoped that one day her Uncle Moony would find his mate and would be able to find happiness. She felt Moony would have better luck finding his mate in America, where things were not as restricted for his kind.
After reading her letter from Hermione, Cordelia set it aside and went back to work on her Chemistry homework. As Cordelia worked, she thought of the vampire that was her lab partner. Emmett Cullen was a mystery to her. Why was he so interested in her? And why did he stress that he was no longer involved with Jasper's sister Rosalie? What did it matter to Cordelia if Emmett dated this Rosalie person or not? It's not like Cordelia was interested in Emmett. But the minute Cordelia thought that she knew that was a lie; she did feel something for the large vampire; what it was, she didn't know. Cordelia sighed and went back to working on her homework.
After Cordelia finished her homework, she went to Harry's room to see if he needed any help with his. She knocked on his door and waited for Harry to answer. When Harry opened his door, he smiled at his godsister and invited her in, "Hey, Harry. Do you need any help with your homework?"
"Nope, I finished a while ago. I was only writing Ron back."
Cordelia nodded and sat down on Harry's bed and waited for him to finish his letter. Cordelia decided that she would write Hermione back after dinner, and then she and Harry could send their letters off with Hedwig. Once Harry finished his letter, he waited for the ink to dry, then folded it and put it on his desk. He turned and looked at Cordelia, who had a pensive look. Harry frowned, "What's going on, Cord? Is there something bothering you?"
Cordelia looked at Harry and sighed, "I was only thinking about my conversation with Emmett."
"What about it?"
"Well, we had a nice conversation, and he told me about his siblings, but when he got to Jasper's older sister, Rosalie, Emmett began to emphasize that they had dated but that nothing was going on between them now. It's as if he wanted to assure me that there was no one in his life. Don't you think that's odd?"
Harry thought for a moment, "Not really. It's obvious that he's attracted to you and wants something more with you than only being friends."
Cordelia slowly nodded, "I guess so. It's weird, though, thinking someone may be interested in me. That never happened at Hogwarts."
Cordelia may have been a beautiful young lady, but it was rare for guys to be interested in her more than being friends. It wasn't that they weren't attracted to her; it was more than boys were wary of Cordelia because she was a Black and her father was supposed to be a murderer and a Death Eater. Even if Cordelia gave the boys no reason to mistrust her, they were still wary of her. The only boys interested in Cordelia were the boys from Slytherin, and Cordelia found them to be creepy and only after her inheritance. The first boy that indeed showed any interest in Cordelia was Viktor Krum, and that didn't last long.
So, naturally, Cordelia was suspicious of Emmett's motives. She knew Emmett had no idea who she was, but that still didn't stop her suspicions of him. It was also well known that Magical Vampires were more attracted to wizards and witches because of their magic. Cordelia couldn't be sure if it was her blood attracting him to her or something else. Cordelia couldn't take the chance and decided it was best not to encourage the large Vampire. Tomorrow, Cord would do her best to ignore him and hope Emmett would lose interest.
Now that her mind was made up, Cordelia breathed a little easier. After Harry finished his letter and the owl was sent on its way, the godsiblings headed down to dinner.
