Notes:

The scent of brewed coffee wafted through the air in the kitchen of the McGarrett home the next morning. The dark haired brunette was leaning against the counter clad in nothing except for the white buttoned up dress shirt that Steve had worn the night before. There was a comfortable silence between them as he made breakfast. She wasn't sure what to think of what had happened between them, but she knew that she had no regrets at least.

"Before you got onto that plane to go meet up with Wo Fat, why did you kiss me?" Erin blurted out looking over at him curiously.

Steve chuckled softly as he glanced over at her. "Just coming right out with it, huh?"

"I'm serious, Steve."

He sighed as he turned to face her. "I kissed you because I wanted to and I'm sorry that I didn't ask you first."

"Right and what about Catherine? You acted like the kiss didn't even happen and continued on with her." Erin rolled her eyes at him.

Steve shook his head. "You're right. I'm sorry. I didn't know how to approach talking about it or what to even say."

"Well we're talking about it now, aren't we?" She gazed up at him as she took a sip of her coffee.

He smiled softly at her. "Yeah I guess we are. Alright look I'll be honest, I didn't know what to make of you at first. It was fun getting under your skin, but then I found out you had a connection to my late father so I wasn't sure what to think. Then you risked your life to come find Chelsea, Joanie, and I."

"Oh don't flatter yourself. It was mostly for them, but I guess I didn't mind saving you too." Erin smirked playfully at him.

Steve chuckled at her. "See there you go again with that smart mouth."

"You weren't complaining about it last night." She giggled softly.

He smirked picking her up and gently tossed her over his shoulder making her squeal as he carried her out of the kitchen.

It was a few days later when Danny and Chelsea walked into the Palace hand in hand. The team greeted the newlyweds happily. Of course it didn't last too long because they had a case. So she left them to it and she didn't even mind as she loved that it felt like things were back to normal again.

She was surprised though when she was called into Steve's office later that day only to see her brother was there as well. Jackson greeted her with a hug glad to see her. Chelsea returned the hug utterly confused.

She pulled away as Danny walked in. "What's going on?"

"Hello to you too, Mrs. Williams." He teased his sister.

Chelsea blushed smiling for a moment then grew serious again. "Jackson..."

"Okay so you know how I went along to, uh, rescue you guys from South Korea? Well it kind of got me in trouble with my superiors." Jackson admitted.

Steve shook his head slightly. "Joe and I pulled some strings. Your brother is being transferred to a base in Hawaii. He'll be working from there instead of being out in the field, so to speak."

She looked over at her brother sympathetically. "Jackson, I'm sorry."

"I'm not. I'm still Navy. You're my little sister. Saving you was worth it." He assured her with a hug.

Chelsea returned the hug smiling softly. "So a base in Hawaii huh?"

"Well you're here, aren't you? Besides I'm a step uncle now." Jackson chuckled softly as he pulled away.

"Damn I didn't think of that when I married her." Danny joked rubbing the back of his neck.

She nudged her husband playfully. "Be nice."

"Speaking of, now that you're back, I'll be moving out."

Her face softened toward her brother. "Jackson, you know you are more than welcome to stay for as long as you want."

"Yeah I know, but you guys just got married. You should enjoy it without me in the way." Jackson smiled at them.

Steve sighed at him. "Please tell me you're not moving in with Mary."

"What? No of course not. I'm going to be renting an apartment. We don't want to rush anything. We want to make sure it's a sure thing since Joanie is involved." He assured him.

Chelsea smiled at her brother proudly. "Do Mom and Dad know?"

"Uh not yet. I wanted to tell you first, but I will tell them." Jackson promised her.

She nodded her head then made a face. "They're going to be all alone in Jersey."

"Hey, they'll be fine. My parents will hang out with them. My sisters are still in Jersey too." Danny assured his new wife.

Chelsea smiled softly at him. "Yeah I know."

Steve cleared his throat as they headed out to Danny's car. "So what do you know about Jackson?"

"Seriously? Is this what we're really doing now?" His brows raised at the taller man.

He sighed walking out of the palace and over toward the car. "I just worry about Mary. She hasn't always made the best decisions. She's been doing real well since adopting Joanie though."

"I get that, Steve. Jackson's a good guy and I'm not just saying that because I'm married to his sister. I'm sure he understands too. He's just as protective of Chelsea as you are of Mary." Danny pointed out.

Steve nodded his head then got into the driver's seat of the car. "Yeah, I know you're right. I can't help it. I'll try to ease up on him though."
