Top of the morning!
Ah man we made it, the final chapter of Sonic High! Phew and it only took ten weeks lol but then again I was also busy with irl stuff and the other works as well. I wished I could've released more than one chapter but alas, I wanted to keep some suspense and hype if there is any among you which I don't really mind hehe.
Okay so the tenth and final pairing is... you guessed it and I'm glad IDW introduced these two characters. Their dynamic is really good and I'm a strong advocate for this happening even if Sega says no romance. That's why we have headcanons for and luckily even Sonic Team is pushing for these two which is great! Whatever the case they are definitely the best for last so hope you enjoy the last chapter as well! ^u^
Disclaimer: I do not own the characters or locations. They belong to Sega.

"And there she goes!"
"C'mon you got this girl!"
"WOHOO!"
Several cheers can be heard from the sidelines of a high jump event taking place on a football field. The comments were aimed towards an individual who was a few feet away from the horizontal long bar mounted in the air by a support on each side. Dressed in light athletic clothing, the individual took note of the challenge set up for them and faced the obstacle with a wide grin.
'Okay Tangle you got one more attempt. The last two tries were good but I know I can aim higher! Push past your limits!' with that thought and a deep breath, Tangle the Lemur took off from the starting point and ran quickly across the football grass. Her purple eyes watched the pole get closer and closer as she turned towards the high jump, breathing slightly labored and arms and legs moving quickly. Peripheral vision picked up her teammates from the side cheering her on and for Tangle…
"HAH!"
…this was just the inspiration needed as she jumped high into the air, leaning back over the pole and landing onto the blue padding. Tangle has successfully made it over on the third try.
"YES!" Tangle shouted happily as she got off and was approached by her teammates continuing to rally around her. The official next to them nodded writing on their clipboard. "A full 2 meters. You have qualified for league finals young lady."
"ALRIGHT THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!" the ring-tailed lemur said victoriously along with her team cheering for her louder.
…
…
"That was awesome Tangle! I'm so jealous that you got to advance I swear." a female mobian tiger said.
"Don't be, we all trained hard and gave it our all. For you if anything you were just as great as I am!" Tangle encouraged to the tiger. "There's always next year as well so don't take it hard."
"Yeah I know but that gives me more motivation to train harder. Thanks Tangle and I'll see you later!" the mobian tiger waved as she ran towards the hall outside the gym. Tangle waved back happily giving out a sigh. "Ah man I can't believe I made it to league finals this time around. Still a lot to take in hehe." she said to herself beginning to walk out as well.
Tangle was now dressed in her normal clothing which consisted of a simple white t-shirt with faded loose jeans, yellow high tops with two black stripes and a blue backpack. She attended Mobius High and recently transferred there once she moved into the city. For the lemur it didn't take long to get accustomed to the environment and the first thing she did was try out for the school's track and field team, specializing in the high jump primarily. Naturally adept to leaping very high, she used this to fly through the events and eventually did it settle her with nice placements. Within a semester she has grown from a rookie to the team's best jumper, getting put in varsity by her coach as a freshman. She wasn't the first one to achieve this feat as a first year since two certain hedgehogs in track and field both took that mantle, but for Tangle she didn't care. For her she strived to be the best on her own, seeing everyone as fellow competitors.
"Hey there cutie. Good to see you again and I was hoping this time I can take you out properly on a date." an unknown male voice made itself known. Tangle's ears perked up along with hearing several other voices as she slowly approached a corner of the hallway. Setting herself near the wall she peeked around it with one eye.
Three male mobian dogs surrounded a female mobian wolf, surrounding the latter in front of the lockers. The boys were dressed as if they were looking for trouble while the girl was dressed in all black but was more modest: a hoodie, jeans and boots. The female wolf had biscotti fur with brown skin, thick black eyelashes with her eyes closed and cloudy white fur around her eyes with eyeshadow. Other than that she looked relatively normal but unfortunately the three high school males were very interested in her.
"Don't wanna say anything as usual huh sweet cheeks?" one of them grinned. "I guess I'll take that as a yes."
Tangle stood quietly in shock at the scene unfolding. The female wolf wasn't doing anything either to get away from the situation, just simply standing there as they surrounded her. 'What the heck is she doing?! Get out of there!'
"Okay boys it looks like we got ourselves a date tonight!" the presumed leader of the group said raising his hand closer to the wolf girl.
Not wanting to see the scene any further Tangle immediately came out of her hiding spot. "HEY! Leave her alone!" she shouted. This startled the three minus the wolf girl as they looked back stunned, then changed to furious a second later. "Keep your butt out of this! It's none of your business!" the leader barked.
"It's so my business when you're ganging up on someone and I won't have that!" Tangle stood her ground watching them angrily. "Now just kindly leave and no one gets hurt."
The three males looked at each other then laughed afterwards. "Oh ho ho that's rich! Like we'll ever do that!"
Tangle narrowed her eyes cracking her knuckles. "Fine then, you asked for it!" the ring-tailed lemur bolted quickly and landed a solid punch on the leader.
"GAH!" the male dog recoiled in pain with his other two subordinates jumping in on the action. One threw a punch of their own to which Tangle ducked and countered with an uppercut, striking the second's chin and sending him reeling back.
POW!
"AH!" Tangle felt sharp pain on her side coming from the third throwing a kick. She almost lost her balance, retreating while holding her side. The leader and second dog slowly got up and looked more vicious than ever with the former wiping his mouth from the small bit of blood. "Okay sweet cheeks you wanna play rough? Then we'll play rough…"
'Damnit! I don't think I can take out all three at once!' Tangle thought loudly. Her violet eyes tried to look over their large frames to see if the wolf girl managed to escape, hoping her distraction was enough. 'Can't see over them, but heck at least I did something right so if I get a beating then it's for a good-.'
POW!
Her train of thought was broken as a foot smashed towards the leader's foot as high speeds. He tumbled to the floor and laid unmoving, instantly knocked out. The other two noticed and turned but failing to react at the swift moving person. The second dog felt a pair of hands grab his arm and a large amount of force hoisting him over the person, being thrown into the third and causing the two to fall as well letting out pained grunts.
"W-What the heck was-!" the second male was knocked out by a punch however. The third tried getting up but the person grabbed their arm and pinned it to their back, pulling further up which caused the male dog to wail. "AAAHHH! STOP! STOP!"
Tangle couldn't believe it… the person that took them down with ease…
…
… was the wolf girl.
Leaning down to the third's ear was a silent whisper heard, causing the male dog's eyes to widen in fear. From there she let go of their arm as the third scampered quickly and grabbed the other two, his surprising strength being able to pick them up easily as they ran away and disappearing through the doors.
The ring-tailed lemur was shocked, silently watching the quiet girl turn around and walk away. "H-Hey wait!" Tangle shouted chasing after her. The wolf girl didn't quicken her pace and simply stayed silent even as Tangle caught up. "Hey that was crazy insane! Like wow why didn't you stand up like that before?!"
The wolf girl continued to look ahead ignoring her questions. Tangle noticed her eyes were mainly closed but she was able to catch a glimpse of their color: a nice cadet blue. "Can you talk? What's your name?"
Again no response from her.
Tangle got a bit annoyed and took a further initiative, reaching out to grab the wolf girl by the arm.
…
Only for said wolf girl to move away and hide herself in a corner of the hall. Tangle raised an eyebrow at this. 'What the heck? First she was acting shy around these dudes that were trying to flirt with her, then she kicks their butts, and now she's being all shy again?' Tangle didn't ponder on this more and slowly walked up to her. "H-Hey, I didn't mean to startle you by doing that. I just want to have a small talk if that's okay… I mean we practically saved each other from those brutes, though you did most of the work…" Tangle muttered after.
The wolf girl looked back anxiously and seeing her as no threat, she fully turned looking at the ground. Her mouth moved a bit uttering something that the lemur wasn't able to pick up.
"Come again?" Tangle asked.
She moved her mouth again, hearing a small noise this time.
"Umm I still can't catch that?" Tangle said getting closer. This also caused the wolf girl to turn slightly pink.
…
"…"
"… Whisper…"
This time Tangle heard it. "Huh, Whisper eh?" she said smiling. "That's a pretty cute name for someone that's pretty cool. I'm Tangle by the way."
The comment made Whisper blush harder hiding her face in her sweater sleeves. "Thank you…"
"No worries and thanks for saving me as well. I mean I tried saving you but I guess it didn't go that well hehe." Tangle said scratching her head sheepishly. Whisper gave a tiny smile and nodded. "It's okay… you have done well…"
"Ah thanks! Now I definitely feel better hehe!" Tangle cheered. "So are you new here or have you been going to this school for some time?"
"Well… I recently transferred here so… I'm still a bit new." Whisper said softly.
"Oh sweet I'm new here too! I mean it took some time for me to get used to some things and get along with people but now I'm basically the school's best high jumper!" Tangle stated. Whisper nodded again with the same smile. "That is a great achievement… wished I could be like that…"
"What are you kidding me?! You took out three guys all by yourself! If anything you should join the karate club or something because stuff like that not everyone can do easily. Heck you may even give the boys in there a run for their money!" Tangle explained.
Whisper's smile turned into a thin line as she looked down sadly. "Fighting… is my last resort…"
Tangle heard and felt the tone of her voice, her expression also saddened. The ring-tailed lemur deduced that the wolf girl may have had a troubled past, but she wouldn't bug her about it. "Oh… well just pointed it out because you were clearly amazing back there."
"Yes… thank you…" Whisper replied.
A silent walk went on further as they headed out the school, the last period having already been finished. Almost all the students have left home with a few hanging out in the front, but for the duo it was a comfortable silence. The wind brushed past their fur in the chilly afternoon, taking the same path on their way to their homes.
Tangle decided to break the silence. "So um… why didn't you try to run away from those jerks back then or at least fight them off if I might ask?"
Whisper didn't say anything for a few seconds, her eyes focused on the ground clutching her books. Tangle felt some guilt praising the wolf girl's fighting skills too much that most likely she may have brought some bad memories related to it on her. "You don't have to ask though I was just curious-."
"I… couldn't…" Whisper quietly said. Tangle was confused. "Huh, why's that?" was her reply. Clutching her books tighter Whisper's expression turned into frustration. "Because… I'm afraid…"
"Afraid of what? Of them? Heck with what you pulled off you shouldn't." the ring-tailed lemur replied. Whisper shook her head. "No… I'm afraid of being seen… as a freak."
…
…
"That's it?"
Whisper was caught off guard by this, her nearly closed eyes looking at Tangle who returned a serene grin. "To be honest, that stuff you did was cool and I don't really see you as a freak. If anything that was incredible."
"B-But… some people don't like it when-." Whisper was cut off by Tangle laughing a bit. "H-Hey… it's not funny."
"Haha sorry, sorry about that. It's just hilarious that those people that do see you as one really don't understand. Look, not many people can do what you can do and if anything you should be proud of it." Tangle said. "I bet it takes a lot of training to do those sick moves you did earlier and for those kinds of people, I bet they can't even do it to save their own butts!"
Whisper was in awe at the words Tangle said to her.
A lot of people normally saw the wolf girl as a loner and kept to herself, not speaking much. There are some boys like the trio before that has some interest for her but she doesn't pay much attention to it. For Whisper, she likes to be reserved and not say much.
Especially on keeping her past locked up, but that's another time.
"I mean look at me, it took some time for me to get used to this place. I was made fun of for my long tail but I don't care, I mean look!" Tangle then began making her tail stretch and do several shapes, mimicking into a fist at the end which Whisper found interesting. "Not a lot of people can do the stuff I can and in my part I'm the school's best high jumper." Tangle then turned her head forward and breathed in with a smile and eyes closed. "What I really want to do however is learn how to dance."
"Dance?" Whisper asked.
"Yup, though a ton of people say I'm not very good at it. Honestly though I don't really care on that, just as long as I push aside that negativity I can do a lot of things." the lemur girl said. "Everyone has their own unique thing that others can find strange, but that's what makes you, you. Who cares what others say, if they call you a freak just brush it off. There will be tons of other people that'll look up to you and say nice things."
Whisper was feeling a weight being lifted off her shoulder by the girl next to her. The fact that she can speak to her without seeing her as something negative was very surprising. Not only that but she's also the first one in the school to speak with her normally. It was a new experience for Whisper and she couldn't shake it off.
It was something foreign, yet warm.
It was something she only ever felt long ago before… that happened.
It is something… she wants to hold onto.
To get to know better.
To see a bright future with.
To not worry about anything else. Just take on whatever life throws at you with a smile and confidence.
For Whisper, even though she just met the ring-tailed lemur, Tangle was the source of motivation she needed. She didn't run away or insult her or make a move.
Instead, Tangle wants to get to know her better.
For bad intentions? Doesn't seem like it.
If anything, Tangle had a bright smile on her face and looked at Whisper with an expression that said one thing.
Seeing Whisper as a friend.
Thinking of all this Whisper smiled wider and Tangle took note, grinning on her part. "That's the spirit! Like I said don't let others insult you for the special things you got. Just do what you do with a little bit of confidence and it'll take you a long way." she said. The wolf girl suddenly stopped however also causing Tangle to cease walking. "What's up?"
And in another rare gesture…
…
Whisper opened her eyes more, her blue orbs looking at Tangle warmly.
"Thank you Tangle. For giving me inspiration."
Her sentence and expression made Tangle blush, strange feelings arising within. 'H-Holy cow… she looks so… so…'
Whisper noticed this and giggled; Tangle's thought broken as she got anxious scratching her head timidly. "H-Hehe no problem Whisper. Just helping out a new friend."
The word caused the wolf girl's smile to get bigger. "Yes… friend."
"Alright well how about we talk some more on the way home? This time of other stuff?" Tangle suggested. Whisper nodded to it. "I would love that."
From there the two newly made friends walked home talking amongst one another. They discussed their likes, dislikes, hobbies and several other things, the laughs and giggles apparent. Through that walk they got to know each other way better and found out many interesting things. That point on the next day did they meet up in school and did most things together, also noting that they share almost all the same classes as well. Even outside school did they do things together from playing in the park to going out shopping even though it wasn't much of Tangle's thing, but Whisper had a small fondness to it. Other than that there were two things that emerged from their first meeting.
Tangle and Whisper eventually became the best of friends and looked out for one another, helping each other on everything.
And for the second thing…
…
New feelings began to bloom.
Hoping that one day… they can become more than best friends.
Become each other's inspiration.
Just like their first meeting in the hallway.
Fin.
Aaaand that is it!
Finito! Done! No more! Basically it!
Hehe so there you have it, Whisper and Tangle! Heck saying it like that has a good ring to it and while the chapter may not be the greatest Whispangle work, at least I support the two. Whatever the case IDW has for their future comics, I'm hoping they get really good spotlight just like the main character!
Anyway that's all for Sonic High and I hope you enjoyed it! Stick around and reread them if you like or if you want to see other works of mine, check out my page for them and look out for any future updates/stories in the works by checking out my bio!
Til next time! ouo/
