THE GOD'S LEGACY Chapter 8
A/N:- Hey, so I know the last chapter was a little bad, I know… but this chapter will be longer than before! So, let's begin!
Percy was standing there stretching his arms, wearing the black sleeveless turtleneck with his black pants and combat boots, waiting for Midnight to start the game.
He had been informed that there was some sort of Sports Festival and it was the most important thing in the city, as all of the people would watch that one thing.
It was also a great opportunity for pro heroes to get sidekicks for themselves, and a great opportunity for the students to gain experience.
While Percy wasn't really interested in all that, he didn't withdraw from the sports festival because he didn't want to hurt his friends' sentiments.
After the entire festival had started and the crowd had piled into the seats, Percy was called upon to speak a few words, since he came in first in the entrance exams.
Of course, the demigod was not told about having to prepare a speech so he just freestyled.
He had started by speaking a few words about the devil of a principal the school had, getting a few laughs from the audience. Then he thanked Rat Satan for accepting him into the campus and allowing him to be a part of the amazing hero course. He later also gave honorable mentions to his teachers, the pussycats, for helping him whenever he was down. Then he started a whole anecdote involving his friends. After that, he spoke to all those in the general and support and management courses as he recalled the kid in the general education course who had somehow been stupid enough to 'declare war' on the hero course.
Later, Percy ended the speech by doing a firework display using his quirks.
That had caused huge amounts of cheers from the assembled crowd and Midnight clapped him on the back, winking at him, when he descended from the podium.
Soon, Present Mic and Aizawa announced the events and all of that, and in all seriousness, Percy thought they would make a really good couple.
After that, all the students lined up inside a tunnel for the race with Percy in the lead with some students from the other classes. There was Kendo, whom he had met with a hug, and other people he didn't recognize.
Right now, he was stretching his limbs, flexing his biceps, looking directly at the R-rated heroine, waiting for the signal, just to find that she herself was looking at him, her eyes clouded with some emotion as she smirked at him seductively when they locked eyes.
Percy felt disgusted at the fact that a much older woman was eyeing him up and down, almost like she was unclothing him in her imagination.
He was about to ask Kendo to switch places with him but was stopped when Midnight pressed a button, letting the students know that it was time to get ready.
Beep
All of the kids dropped what they were doing and got into a running stance.
Beep
Percy didn't do anything, because he knew what he had to do.
Beep!
They all started activating their quirks as Mic announced something that Percy didn't understand.
BEEP!
All of the students started running as Percy just smirked and jogged along with them until they all were in clear sight.
As soon as they got out, they were faced with the huge zero-pointers of the exam and they all stopped in their tracks.
Percy smirked again and jumped up in the air as he levitated for a few seconds, looked down at the rest of the students, smiled, and said, "Good Bye!"
"OH HO! Jackson is onto something!" Present Mic announced gleefully.
Percy looked directly at him and then vanished from sight as the entire crowd burst into exclaimed shocks and cheers.
"AND THE SPORTS FESTIVAL STARTS OFF WITH A BANG AS THE, POWERFUL AND ALMIGHTY CHILD, THE ONLY STUDENT NOT IN UNIFORM, PERCY JACKSON, STRIKES FIRST!"
The rest of the students were not slow to react. Todoroki had immediately taken advantage of the kids' stupor and had frozen the robots, destroying them completely as he took off in a sprint.
The cameras showed all of the students, gradually getting out of their daze as they desperately fought for the second and third positions.
"AND JUST LIKE THAT, THE FIRST PLACE HAS BEEN SNATCHED AWAY BY JACKSON WHO HAS A RECORD TIME OF JUST 2.1 SECONDS TO COMPLETE THE ENTIRE EVENT!" Mic announced as Aizawa groaned behind his bandages. "BUT THE REST OF THE STRAGGLERS ARE NOT SLOW TO RECOVER! LOOKS LIKE CLASS 1A REALLY IS PACKED WITH SOME MASTER BLASTERS!"
Percy sat down on the empty ground, lazily watching the footage on a small tv screen, watching as Todoroki and Bakugo led the small group that had started to gather behind them.
That's when he noticed something wrong.
From the corner of his eye, he could see something dark stirring right behind the last row of the audience.
He narrowed his eyes at the sight and vanished again.
"OH! LOOKS LIKE OUR WINNER HAS DISAPPEARED AGAIN!" Mic yelled into the mic, as Aizawa narrowed his eyes looking into the sky where Percy had reappeared.
He was really small, too small to be seen with normal eyes, but Aizawa could see him, even though he was just a dot.
Percy had reappeared on top of the black storm in the distance, surveying the place below him.
There was a dark hurricane brewing as if it was something made to summon something evil into this world.
Percy couldn't let that happen.
He looked back at the festival and then decided he needed to hurry so he clapped his hand and the entire agglomeration of clouds dissipated in seconds.
He quickly landed on the ground, which cracked as he appeared in front of a group of goons who were wearing some sort of armor. An armor that was painstakingly familiar to Percy.
Greek armor.
The same bronze chest plate, the same bronze helmet with the red plume, the same bronze skirt, and the same bronze shoulder pads and shin guards.
Percy just looked at them and asked calmly as the atmosphere darkened, the sun hiding behind dark rain clouds that had for sure not been there a minute ago. "Who the hell are you guys?"
The small-time villains screamed and fell back, frantically trying to get away from the hero.
A guy that stood in the front of the line stammered, his helmet falling off. "We're mere servants of the almighty god! Please don't hurt us! We're only doing what he wishes! Please don't hurt me!"
"God?"
The crook looked at him, fear in his eyes as he looked up at the sky.
"MASTER! HELP US!" He screamed.
Percy didn't even wait for a second and surged forward, grabbing the man's throat and lifting him up.
The villain in his hands stammered and tried to pry the hand off of his neck, but failed against the stronger man's grip.
"Who is your god?" He asked again as he looked back at the other bad guys.
"M-Ma-Ast-ER!" He stammered out and whatever master he was talking to apparently, listened to his plea.
A grey-black cloud began to form behind them, and all of the other villains were sucked away, all but one. The one in Percy's hands.
The demigod grunted in frustration and threw him into his own shadow, transporting him to a separate space.
Percy scanned the entire place, looking for any residues of who did this but found nothing.
He figured he could deal with this later and with one final look, he vanished from sight.
-BREAK-
Most of the people had finished the race and most of the people had been wondering where Percy had gone as the second event had been postponed for him.
Midoriya was almost ready to go looking but stopped when the demigod reappeared in the middle of the ground, no emotion on his face as he muttered a quiet apology to Midnight and the show restarted.
Percy had of course told everyone that had asked him that he was fine, but the people knew that wasn't the case.
The usually cheerful person was brooding. His mind wasn't focused on the competition at all.
"Are you okay?" Yaoyorozu asked him once they were seated and the next event was being announced. "And I mean literally, what happened? Where were you?"
Percy sighed and put on a fake smile for the world to see, but that didn't really reach his eyes. "I'm fine Momo, will tell you later."
He sighed and looked forward. "Enjoy the festival for now."
Yaoyorozu didn't look convinced but didn't pry.
After that, Percy learned that he had bagged 10 million or something points and it was a cavalry battle in which all of them had to make teams and try to gain the most points, by grabbing their headbands or something and Percy was the most obvious target.
And then, to make matters worse, Midnight stated that Percy would be working alone without any teams to help him, while the rest would make teams of a maximum of four people.
The game started and Percy just sat down in one corner, knowing no one would actually come after him right in the beginning.
And he was right.
Most of the people were after each other, trying to get enough bands until they went for the 10 million.
Percy just sat there lazily at Midnight's feet, watching the scene and sometimes talking with the heroine, analyzing the students.
Of course, a few of the teams came after him, but they just couldn't touch him.
He simply wasn't there.
Their hands passed right through the demigod when they tried to go for his head. And of course, they were surprised beyond imagination.
It kept on going that way as they got at each other's throats.
Turns out Team Todoroki and Bakugo had the maximum number of points with Midoriya coming to a close third.
Few minutes later, they finally went after the ten million.
Percy stood there, waiting as both Shoto and Katsuki charged at him at the same time.
He had a smirk plastered on his face and watched the horror on their faces as their hands passed straight through Percy's head as the timer stopped.
Percy came in first again, with Todoroki second, Bakugo third, and Midoriya fourth.
Soon, they got organized for the final round as Percy saw Midoriya sneaking off with Todoroki behind an alley.
He was obviously confused but let it off. This was their life, he could not blame them if they wanted to do something like that in the public and sat down, wondering about the incident.
Those people had been wearing Greek armor, and they hadn't recrafted it. It felt like they had taken it out of a museum and polished it a little. Like buffed it up, but didn't change it completely.
Percy felt some sort of connection to that.
Of course, there was the thing that they all were Greek, but at the same time, Percy felt like he knew them. As if they were family. In the brief moment of being in the presence of just a few pieces of metal, he got the same feeling he used to get when he was in the presence of his friends.
Speaking of which, he just wanted to know how his family felt about all this. Were they watching over him? Were they somewhere around him? If not, then what was that feeling of a hand on his shoulder as if someone comforting him when he was down?
What was the feeling of wholeheartedness he got whenever he looked at the faces of each and every student in his class?
What was that feeling when he looked at Midoriya's face and saw Hector's?
Percy sighed and lay on a series of benches.
He really was going insane.
The next event was the one-on-one fight and Percy was going to go first, matched up with Hitoshi Shinso, the same kid who declared war on the hero course.
And Percy wanted to teach him some things.
Then some people withdrew from the tournament and sat back.
Percy raised an eyebrow at that and went to the waiting rooms where he met up with Ojiro, one of the people who didn't want to fight, who warned him about his opponent's quirk.
Percy responded with a nod of his head and patted the martial artist on the back.
"Thank you, my friend. Now just sit back and watch the show."
Ojiro was confused at that but smiled nonetheless.
Soon, when they all had had the recreational games or something and they all had gathered back, Mic announced the rules of the game.
Immobilize or force the opponent out of bounds.
Simple.
Right now, Percy was sitting facing Shinso, cracking his knuckles as he stood there, waiting for the opponent to make his move.
Apparently, Shinso was also waiting for Percy to start.
Hence, they stood there for a solid two minutes before the purple-haired boy spoke.
"Give up, huh?" He said as Percy, who had a cigarette in his hands, breathed out rings of smoke. "This is a fight supposed to test the strength of your spirit."
Percy sighed.
"If you know what you want for your future, then you shouldn't have to worry about appearances," Hitoshi continued. "That monkey was going on about his pride, but don't you think he was dumb to throw away his chance?"
Percy rubbed the butt of his cancer stick on his palm, as a hole in his hand healed up in seconds. "No, he wasn't dumb."
Shinso was smirking and Ojiro looked shocked.
The demigod went on. "You're the dumb one if you think he was dumb. He knew his limitations. But, I don't think you know yours."
Hitoshi looked just as shocked as Mashirao who was sitting in the third row.
It was Percy's turn to smirk.
"Your quirk won't work on me," He said as he sat down on the ground. "So, why don't we have a little chit-chat?"
Shinso just stood there, dumbfounded.
"Sit down, Hitoshi Shinso," Percy said as the crowd went silent.
The student didn't move.
"Sit Down," Percy said, power pooling into his voice, and Shinso, without wanting to, sat down.
When he did, the demigod looked pleased with himself and started. "You say you have a villainous quirk, don't you?"
Shinso opened his mouth to speak something, but no words came out, so he just nodded his head, dumbstruck.
"Good," Percy said and got up, walking forward to where the student sat and crouched down to meet his eyes. "Have you ever died?"
Many people in the audience were confused.
He laughed.
"Of course, not," Percy said. "But, I have. Three times."
The audience was shocked.
He placed a finger on Shinso's forehead.
"Now, I will make you feel the same," He said calmly as his eyes glowed. "Die."
As soon as the words left his mouth, Shinso exploded, disintegrating completely, leaving behind nothing but splatters of blood.
The audience was shocked, but no one said a thing.
Percy sighed and got up and turned around, clapping his hands.
The blood on the cemented floor glowed green and merged together to form a scared-looking Hitoshi, reforming bit by bit.
"Wh-wha-what?" Shinso stammered.
"Now you've died once, how did it feel?"
Again, the student opened his mouth, but no words came out.
"You don't have to say anything," Percy said and sat down again. "Tell me, do you still think my quirk is heroic?"
Shinso didn't do anything, sweat beads forming on his face.
"I know it's not heroic. It's more suited for a villain, don't you think? I have the fate of someone's life in the grasp of my hands," Percy said. "But those who've seen me fight haven't seen me use this aspect of my quirk, you know why?"
Shinso shook his head as Percy looked at his class sitting in the rows.
"I don't use it for two reasons. One, I want to feel the exhilaration of a real fight. I don't want to end a fight in just two seconds. Two, I don't like it. I don't like playing with someone's life."
"Life isn't fair, kid," Percy said. "Some people get the best quirks, some get the worst. You got yours and I got mine. You need to learn how to work with it and chase your dream. You wish to become a hero, do you not? Do your best. But don't blame others, and don't blame your fate. It wasn't your choice. Your choice is, however, to use it to its utmost potential. Like I did."
Shinso looked at him with a little respect in his eyes. "I will."
Percy looked happy. "Now, we still need to finish this…"
"I give up."
Percy looked shocked.
"I know I can't win, so I won't waste other people's time," Shinso got up and walked forward, shaking the older man's hand. "I gave up now, but I won't give up in life."
Percy nodded and smiled, pulling the kid into a hug and clapping him on the back. "I know. Do your best."
Out of the corner of his eye, he could see Midnight with her hands to her cheeks, dancing happily, muttering something about the youth.
He just smiled and shook his head at the antics of the 30-year-old.
Present Mic announced something about the start of the final event being the best and all that.
Percy sat back in the rows next to his class, as they looked at him, fear and shock evident in their eyes.
"What was that?" Kirishima asked.
"Nothing," Percy said and smiled at him, sitting with an arm on the redhead's shoulders. "Enjoy the show!"
He patted Ojiro on the back and relaxed.
A/N:- So, how did you like it? Percy's overpowered as you all already know. Anyway, hope you liked it! Leave a review down below! Bye! Have a nice day!
