All right, here's the new chapter. I call this one Family Secret because an idea came to me that maybe it's time someone else learned of Eddie's little secret that only his friends know about. Plus, it's time they also time they got acquainted with his new friends and girlfriend. Let's move on, shall we?
Back at Eddie's house, the four friends had made it just in time for the snow outside had started to become a raging blizzard, nearing a whiteout.
Eddie parked his vehicle in the driveway, then he and the other 3 quickly got out of the car and made their way into the house. Once inside they all removed their winter clothing and hung it all on a set of hooks near the front door.
"Man, that blizzard picked up," Eddie said pulling off his beanie last.
"Reminds me of the one I set off in Arendelle," Elsa responded and placed a hand on her waist, then winced in pain.
"Oh, right. Your gunshot wound from that a-hole bodyguard. Come into the living room, and let's take a look at it."
Elsa nodded and she followed Eddie into the living room, where they both took a seat on the couch.
After sitting down, Elsa lifted up the blouse of her dress just past her waist, revealing a slightly bleeding graze mark from the bodyguard's musket.
"Ooh, that looks bad," Eddie said looking on sympathetically.
"It's okay. It doesn't really hurt that much anymore. After all he only grazed me."
"Even so, we shouldn't leave it untreated." Eddie replied and walked back into the kitchen, where he grabbed a box of gauze pads, some cotton swabs and a bottle of rubbing alcohol. He walked back over to Elsa and then dampened one of the cotton swabs with the alcohol. "Ok, now it's gonna sting a bit. You ready?"
"Ready when you are," Elsa replied.
Eddie nodded and pressed the swab to her wound, making Elsa slightly wince in pain at the stinging of it. He continued to wipe her wound clean with the cotton swab and finished by putting a gauze pad on her wound.
"Thank you," Elsa said smiling gratefully.
"Anytime," Eddie replied.
Eddie walked back into the kitchen and put the medical supplies away.
"That certainly was a close call back there," Eddie said. "I'm amazed you were able to dodge that gunshot."
"That makes two of us," Elsa replied. "So, when we were at the ice rink, you said that your girlfriend broke up with you because you didn't know how to skate."
"Yeah. Before all that though we had a good thing going. Her name was Michelle Brighton, and I knew her back in the 8th grade. We first met in the cafeteria when she had no place else to sit, since she was a new student. That being said I decided to get friendly with her and let her sit with Tyler, Lisa and me. From there we got to know each other a lot better. She had the same favorite movie as me."
"Oh, and what movie would that be?" Elsa asked.
"It might sound a little childish, but the movie was Space Jam. I've loved that movie since I was a kid. We began to bond over a lot of things, and found we'd had a bunch in common. We both loved the same music and neither one of us really cared very much about sports and all that. Like me she was also into more animated movies. Soon enough, we began to go out like to the movies, having lunch dates at the local pizza parlors and burger joints. But then when she asked me to go with her to a roller rink, that's when everything changed between us. As soon as I got onto that rink, I'd given it everything I could. I tried my hardest to do good at roller-skating, but just ended up making a fool of myself. When Michelle saw how ridiculous I looked she said to me, 'You're making a complete fool out of the both of us. If you can't do something as simple as roller-skating, then why am I wasting my time with you?'"
Elsa put her hand to her mouth in shock. "Oh, Eddie. I had no idea it was that bad."
"I begged her not to leave me, but she just walked out on me, saying that I wasn't worth teaching. And after that, I just kind of stopped trusting other women. I just didn't know how to anymore because I just couldn't bear to give my heart to a girl and just have her stomp on it again. But when I met you, Elsa, everything changed. I could tell after all that time we'd spent together you weren't one to just go and quit on the people you care about. You're one with a heart of gold."
Elsa smiled in full gratitude with both her hands over her heart. "I'm glad we met, Eddie. I really am. Since we did, you've changed my life for the better, you've opened me up to a world of new possibilities and such. Made me feel like I truly do belong anywhere, even if there are those who don't accept me for who I am, or those who fear my powers."
The snow queen and the human Blue Lantern both walked closer to one another, taking each other's hands and staring into one another's eyes.
But their moment was interrupted when the doorbell went off.
"Huh? Who's here?" Elsa asked.
"I don't know. I don't even know who'd be crazy enough to be out in that snowstorm." Eddie replied walking over to the front door and answering it.
"Well, if it isn't my one and only son," said a male voice.
"Mom! Dad!" Eddie exclaimed with a chuckle and embraced his father, then his mother seconds after.
The older couple stepped into the house and pulled back the hoods from their dark blue and lavender winter jackets, revealing themselves more.
Eddie's dad had the same flat hairdo as he did, only in a shade of a darker brown, that was turning gray in several areas, along with a stubble brown beard with gray streaks as well and hazel-colored eyes, whilst his mom had long flowing blonde hair and the same blue eyes as Eddie did.
"What are you two doing here?" Eddie asked his parents.
"Well, it is Christmastime, and your father and I wanted to see your new house. It's so amazing, sweetheart."
Eddie's dad then looked past his son to see Elsa. "Oh, my god, Eddie. And who might this blue eyed, blonde beauty be?"
Elsa blushed at his compliment.
"Mom, Dad, this is Elsa. She's my new girlfriend. Met her back in the summer. Elsa, these are my parents, Damien and Jasmine Michaels."
"It's very nice to meet you both," Elsa said pocketing her Green Lantern ring and holding her right hand out.
"Young lady, you put that away and give me a hug," Eddie's dad, Damien said and embraced her.
"She's very pretty, Eddie," Jasmine said giving Elsa a hug as well. "After that girl Michelle broke up with you, I wondered when you'd find someone new."
"I wasn't sure if I ever would have. After Michelle broke my heart, I wasn't sure if I'd ever find love again. But when Elsa and I met, I knew she was different. We've been together for quite some time now, and she makes me really happy."
"You've both raised a wonderful son, Mr. and Mrs. Michaels. At first, I wasn't sure if I'd ever find love either, but then Eddie and I met, and it changed the way I saw love."
"Well, isn't that sweet?" Jasmine said happily.
"So, could I expect grandchildren from you two anytime soon?" Damien asked earning a slap on his shoulder from his wife.
"Dad!" Eddie exclaimed and Elsa had blushed even more so now than before. "We're nowhere near that far into a relationship, right?" He turned to Elsa.
"Of course. See even I know I'm not ready to be married yet. Eddie and I have only known each other for a few months. I don't want to rush into anything too quickly. But when the time comes, I know we'll end up making the right decision."
"So, tell us, kiddo..." Damien said pulling his jacket off and hanging it up. "How did you ever get the money to afford a place like this?"
"Well, it's thanks to Elsa and uh, him," Eddie said gesturing to Anna and Kristoff.
"Oh, you have guests?" Jasmine said.
"Mr. and Mrs. Michaels, this is my sister, Anna and her boyfriend, Kristoff. "
"Nice to meet you two," Anna said as she and Kristoff shook hands with Eddie's parents.
"It's very nice to meet you. It seems my Eddie has made such wonderful friends," Jasmine replied.
"He's a very wonderful man, too," Anna said.
"And to answer your question, Dad, Elsa and Anna are the queen and princess of another country, and Kristoff here is a mountain man. About a month ago, he helped lead me to a lost treasure hoard in their country, Arendelle."
"Wait, wait, wait back up a few. You said a queen and a princess?" Damien replied.
"That's right," Elsa said. "In fact, until we met Eddie, we didn't realize how different things are from our hometown to the rest of the world."
"I was amazed when I saw it," Eddie chimed in. "Things in Arendelle are completely different from like hundreds of years ago. There was nothing technological there whatsoever. No motor vehicles, no electricity, none of that stuff."
"You're joking," Jasmine replied.
"Nope," Eddie said.
"But when we met, Eddie showed us all about how things are in modern day times, and now we've made changes to Arendelle, and my people are actually adapting to technology very well."
A thought came to the mind of Eddie's father. "Wait a second, if I'm not mistaken Arendelle is a part of Norway, isn't it?"
"That's right," Elsa replied.
"Well, from the US Arendelle is quite a distance away. How could you afford to travel so far and back, Eddie, if you only got your hands on a bunch of treasure a month ago?"
The four friends looked at each other in concern.
"I think we need to tell them," Eddie said to the other three.
"Tell us what, honey?" Jasmine asked.
"The way Elsa and I met and are able to visit each other quite often is because of something that's beyond unbelievable."
"Define unbelievable," Damien said.
Elsa pulled her power ring from her pocket and showed it to Eddie's parents
"What's with the green ring?" Jasmine asked.
"Wait a second. That emblem on your ring. Is it-?" Damien asked as well looking at it in shock."
"Yes, A Green Lantern ring," Elsa replied and slid it onto her finger, morphing into her Green Lantern uniform.
Eddie's parents' eyes widened in shock at her transformation.
"And it's not just her," Eddie spoke out as he, Anna and Kristoff all lit up their rings and morphed into their suits as well.
The expressions of Eddie's parents further devolved into complete and utter shock at what they were seeing.
"What so you're like these Pink, Purple and Blue Lanterns?" Jasmine asked.
"Well, yeah that about sums it up," Eddie replied with a bit of nervousness in his tone. "Come into the living room, and we'll all explain everything." He said and changed back into his normal clothing, the others following suit.
After gathering around in the living room, the four friends started explaining everything about how they'd all become Lanterns as well as everything else they'd been through together to Eddie's parents.
"So, yeah, we've all had one hell of an adventure together since we'd received these power rings," Eddie said holding his right fist out and showing his ring. "I know it's a lot to take in considering I haven't seen you in almost a year. But it's also been a pretty exciting an experience for us all. Getting to discover life on other planets beyond our solar system. Meeting new faces both on Earth and other planets."
"My god, Eddie, this is just so unbelievable," Damien said shaking his head and looking to the floor.
"I know that it was pretty dumb not to tell you and mom about any of this sooner, especially having a new girlfriend, but I just didn't know how to..."
"My son is a superhero!" Damien arose from his seat excitedly with a bit of laughter. "I always knew you'd amount to doing something great, my boy! Although I never once thought it'd be a soldier for the universe, but who cares? You're set for life with g and in a great house, you've got amazing powers to do fascinating stuff, and to top it all off you're in love with a beautiful girl."
"I have to agree with your father, Eddie. It's only been a few years since you moved out and you're doing amazing with your life," Jasmine said happily. "And even though you say you're not far into a relationship, your father and I both look forward to seeing what yours and Elsa's future holds."
"Yeah. Me too," Eddie replied. "Now as for all this stuff about us being Lanterns and such, you cannot tell anyone."
"Oh, don't you worry about that," Damien said to his son. "This'll all be our little family secret."
"So, another thing, Eddie. Your father and I were actually hoping you'd be open to having us around till after New Year's." Jasmine said.
"Quite a long stay, but why not? After all, it'd probably be fun to celebrate Christmas back in a state where it actually snows. And we got a bit to catch up on."
"That we do, my boy," Damien said.
"What do you mean, where it actually snows?" Elsa asked.
"Oh, we live in Maui," Damien responded.
"Maui?" Elsa asked.
"It's a part of the state of Hawaii. In Hawaii it's summertime all year long," Jasmine explained. "Damien and I had talked about it for the longest time, and about a year after Eddie moved out, we ended up finally doing it."
"Huh? We should go there sometime," Anna perked up.
"Hey with these rings of ours, we can go anywhere we want, when we want," Eddie said.
"That being said, make sure you pay us visits at our beach house, Eddie. You haven't even seen the beauty of it all." Jasmine told her son.
"Don't worry, Mom. I'll be sure to visit you here and there."
"So, Elsa, Anna, what are your girls' parents like?" Damien asked the two sisters. "Are they nice people?"
"Yeah. They were," Anna replied with a small bit of sadness in her tone.
Damien's expression changed instantly from happy to sympathetic. "Oh, god. I-I'm sorry, I didn't know that they..."
"It's okay, Mr. Michaels," Anna responded. "I figured one of you would ask eventually."
"And to further answer your question, sir, yes they were very nice people," Elsa continued on. "Our whole kingdom loved them, because they were a great pair of rulers. And when they died, the whole kingdom mourned over such a tragic loss."
"I'm sure they'd be proud of the people you girls have become," Jasmine said placing a hand on Elsa's cheek.
"And I'm sure you two are proud of the son you've both raised," Elsa replied.
"Oh, we are, Elsa, we are?" Jasmine nodded.
"That's right. Eddie here was a perfect child," Damien said throwing his arm over his son's shoulders. "Always did well in school. The teachers loved him, because he was a truly honest and trustworthy person. Although that girl Michelle who dumped him, I'd had a feeling there was something I didn't like about her. And I knew I was right when Eddie told us everything about their first date. But you've gotta give your kids room to grow. And Eddie proved he could be trusted on more accounts than one."
"I only wish I knew that Michelle was the kind of person who just quits when things go wrong," Eddie said.
"Don't you go blaming yourself for anything that happened back then, sweetheart," Jasmine said to her son. "She was a new girl and you welcomed her as a friend when she had no one to turn to, and how did she thank you for it all? By going and dumping you when you were the one feeling neglect and humiliated."
"Yeah. You're right, Mom. It makes me glad that I never saw her again after that. Now since you two are gonna be staying, I assume you have luggage."
"Ah, right. Left it in the car. Wanna come give me a hand with it?" Damien asked his son.
"Yeah, I'll help," Eddie said as he and his father grabbed their coats off the hook and went back out into the blizzard.
After a minute or two the two men returned with three luggage cases altogether, both covered in snow from the storm.
"Brr, it's cold out there!" Eddie shivered removing his coat.
"Good thing your mother and I got here when we did," Damien said looking at his phone. "Roads are all shut down for the night due to the blizzard which isn't supposed to pass till morning."
"Luckily for us I still have a whole pot of cocoa on the stove. Just gotta reheat it. Come on, I'll show you to the guest bedroom," Eddie said and he and his father took the luggage upstairs.
"Eddie, honey, where's your shower? I need to freshen up," Jasmine asked following them upstairs.
"I've got two in this place. One's just outside the bedroom here," Eddie guided his mother to the bathroom.
While Eddie was helping his parents get settled in, Elsa, Anna and Kristoff waited in the living room.
"He sure has nice parents," Elsa spoke up.
"Yeah. He does," Anna replied. "I can see how he turned out to be such a nice person himself. And now that they've mentioned it, I am curious about something, Elsa."
"What?"
"Do you think you and Eddie will have a good future together, like with kids and all?"
Elsa's face turned bright red. "I don't know, Anna. Like I said it's still too soon to be thinking about all that."
"But you've slept together," Anna said with a playful grin.
"Once," Elsa said blushing more so than before.
"And you caught Lisa's bouquet at the wedding."
"I'm gonna go help Eddie with his parents," Elsa said while looking away trying her best not to smile at the thought of her future with Eddie.
"Oh, yeah. I can just see those two getting married someday," Anna said happily.
All right I think I'll stop here for now. Hope you liked this one. It's like I said, a thought crossed my mind that Elsa hadn't yet met Eddie's parents, so I figured why not. As for what happens next, I've gotta think about that, and when I do, I'll try to have it up as soon as possible. Until then please read, review and enjoy.
