Read and relax
Ace sat on the couch with Trevor, working on setting up a seating chart for their wedding, which was in 2 months time. Most of those they had invited were coming, and both had large families. And they were only family and a handful of friends. He was excited for it, but there was one thing he knew they needed to talk about.
Ace gave a breath and looked at Trevor. "Trevor, I know some of your family has some issues with… booze. And hear me out, how about an alcohol free wedding?" Trevor gave a revlied breath. "Oh God, I have wanted to bring this up for so long! Yes! Can we do that?" Ace shrugged. "Why can't we? It is our wedding." It was, so they chose to. Trevor nodded. "True true, but I have never heard of that." Ace hummed. "Then we start it. All things had a start." Trevor nodded. "True true." Ace hummed. "I feel this is the best option for the family. A few in mine can be a bit… much, with booze as well. But yours, oh my God, they are insane." Trevor nodded. "I know. And they don't see it. We can't say it is because of them." Ace nodded. "Yes, I agree, we can't tell them." They couldn't.
Ace looked at Trevor. "And, now we can have children there too! I want to have Haruta there, but she is under 18. And the others who had children." Trevor nodded. "Yes, I like this idea a lot. Let's go for it, and we need to tell people." Ace nodded, they did. They then finished up the seating chart, before they planned how to tell, and knew Trevor's family would be the worst. Yes, his family were fond of booze as well, but they would understand it, they cared more about his happiness than alcohol.
They then went to his family for dinner next weekend, and while they were there, they met Pops and he wanted to tell him first. He was curious about what it would be about as they had asked to talk. Ace took a breath. "We have decided, that, for our wedding, we will have it alcohol free." Pops blinked, before he nodded. "I get that, it is your choice. It is your wedding. Although it does sound a bit strange." Ace nodded. "I know, but there are a few who… shouldn't be around it, and we want to have children there." Pops nodded. "I see, then it sounds like the right choice, I will always support you." Ace smiled. Pops was always so understanding.
Then they went and had dinner, and during it, they spilled the news about the alcohol free wedding, which had many shocked, Marco giving an understanding nod, while a few looked more confused, like Thatch. "What! No! How will we have fun!" Ace hummed. "We can have fun without it. As we have now." He could see Thatch on his way to speak again when Haruta did. "Wait! Can I join this now!" Ace nodded and looked at his youngest sibling, at 13. "Yes! You can!" Haruta gave a gasp. "Yes!" She was excited, which was good. And that had Thatch close his mouth, and he got it, they wanted to include everyone. Everyone seemed to get it, and it was good. Now, they just needed to deal with Trevor's family. Which they would next week.
When it came, they first went to speak with Mika, Trevor's sister. Ace spoke. "For our wedding, no alcohol. Alcohol free wedding." Mika chuckled. "Mom and her siblings?" Trevor nodded. "Oh yeah. And we also want to have kids there." Mika nodded. "I like this idea." Ace nodded, glad about that. "We are a bit worried about telling them though. They might react… badly." Mika nodded. "Yes, but just be strict about it. Don't budge." Trevor chuckled. "We won't, we have really decided on this." Mika nodded. "Good good."
Then, they went to her mother's place, and this was it. Trevor looked at his mom, Tiffany. "For the wedding. Well, it will be alcohol free." Tiffany blinked. "What! No! You can't have it without alcohol! What will we drink!" Ace hummed. "Soft drinks, alcohol free beer and soda. Maybe some juice for the youngest ones." Tiffany blinked. "No! Who the hell will even come to this if there is no alcohol?" Trevor hummed. "We can have fun without alcohol." Tiffany shook her head and looked annoyed. "Then I won't come. To my own child's wedding." Trevor nodded. "Then don't come. We have decided this. And it won't change." Tiffany scoffed. "I can't not come!" Trevor hummed. "It is up to you. No alcohol. Rules." Tiffany looked more annoyed, probably thinking they would change it, which wouldn't change. They had decided this and would stick to it.
Tiffany tried to make them change for the entire time they were there, bringing it up as much as she could. And they didn't budge at all, they were strict. When Tiffany once again said "no one will come", Trevor responded with "Then no one will come. If they won't celebrate our special day with us, they chose that. No alcohol." It annoyed her, but she said she would come in a grumpy manner. They would really be strict about this. She complained some more, even when they left, but said she would come. And to be honest, if she didn't, it wouldn't be the end of the world. Yes, they had a good relationship with each other, but she would need to come to terms with this if she wanted to come. They needed to stick with this.
When the day came, and he walked down the altar with Trevor, he was glad to see everyone there, or he couldn't really do a head count as he was walking, but most seemed to be here. Then the ceremony went on, before it was over, and they were heading to the reception. A few did ask if there really was no alcohol, and they said yes, yes there was none.
They walked into the reception, and then the gathering started. And it seemed like people had fun. What was even better, now that they had the chance to see everyone who came, Trevor, and Ace, was really happy to see Tiffany's husband there. Not Trevor's father as they were divorced and both remarried. He couldn't be around alcohol, as he was a recovering alcoholic, and was so close to having liver failure. Already been to the hospital 3 times he knew of. And he was so nice and a good guy, and they were so happy to see him. And all the kids were running around playing, having fun. It was really amazing to have gathered both their families. And everyone seemed to get along as well, people were mingling. And many were glad to see everyone, especially those they didn't speak to as often and their children.
It was an amazing evening, at least in his and Trevor's mind, and for him, that was the most important. It was their day after all. When it was getting late and people started to leave, they wrapped it up, before they then went back the next day for the clean up. And after it, he got many messages that it had been a wonderful day and they had had so much fun, even with the lack of alcohol. He didn't care too much about the others if they didn't have fun, but everyone said they had had fun, which was good. It had been magical, at least in his mind. When they got the pictures from the photographer, each was nice and perfect, as they didn't have the usual drunk pictures, as it usually went. This was perfect.
He was happy, and that was the most important. That he and Trevor enjoyed themselves, it was their day.
And that's it! I hope you enjoyed
This probably sounds unheard of, but my wedding was actually alcohol free, and people were so negative to it, but it turned out great in my opinion! And people had a lot of fun too, especially the kids, and everyone said they enjoyed themselves, even with the lack of alcohol
