"The Tailed Beast and Susanoo?!"
"I'd say we're both plenty warmed up, wouldn't you?"
"Indeed…
"Prepare to fight/Prepare to fight!"

"I am here–!"
Now if that wasn't an iconic catchphrase, Izuku didn't know what was, everyone knew it. He couldn't imagine someone not knowing it. He wasn't the biggest fan of All Might or anything, Eraserhead was his favorite for obvious reasons.
But it still surprised him when he actually heard it right outside the door of 1-A, needless to say, his head was not the only one that snapped to view the origin of the voice. While many others had awe present on their face, his face was just one of pure shock.
It took all the young Uchiha had to not burst out laughing at the man's next sentence.
"–Coming through the door, like a hero!"
Truly, a man to inspire the people.
All Might began to explain what they would be doing that day, Battle Trials, apparently. Izuku found the idea itself exciting, but not the timing of it. What with his recent episodes of losing time, blacking out, waking up in odd spots.
His tenants had been oddly dismissive on the matter, but he really didn't have time to think about it and–
Izuku blinked as he realized everyone was standing up, gathering cases from the wall and leaving the classroom. So, quickly, Izuku grabbed the last case and followed after the rest of them. Sometimes he cursed himself for having such a wandering mind.
Izuku walked out of the long hall coming from the changing rooms, coming to a stop in front of the hulking frame of All Might.
The young Uchiha fiddled with the cloth he wore around his wrists; his outfit, overall, was largely similar to what Sasuke wore inside the seal. The same grey jacket, shirt, thing, with the collar that rose high, but not as high as sasuke, and black pants with sandals. He had forgone the rest of the outfit, seeing as the thick rope just looked highly uncomfortable. He had requested a pair of goggles, as well, just in case.
He hoped that he wouldn't have to use what was under the wrist bands, they were rather crudely made after all, so maybe it would be better if–
"Now, it's time for combat training!"
Izuku startled and his eyes jumped up to look at All Might, who had begun addressing them since they were all here now. He glanced around briefly, his Sharingan active, and almost immediately regretted it.
Most everyone had normal hero costumes, although he had a few minor nitpicks, would armour hinder Iida's speed? Did Kirishima want to die with the way he had decided to wear basically just pants?
But those weren't the major problems, no, it was the people with costumes like Yayorozu and Hagakure that would forever be burned into his memories, and all because of his stupid Kekkai Genkai. He swore he could hear his tenants all chuckling in his head.
They were lucky he couldn't do anything to them.
"Excuse me!" Iida spoke from his left, while raising his hand, "This is a battle center from the entrance exam, so will we be conducting urban battles again?"
The class murmured quietly around him, absently, he crossed his arms. Iilda was probably somewhere close to the truth, but no matter how much of a goofball he seemed to be, All Might surely wouldn't have them conducting the same test they had weeks prior.
"No!" All might hold up two fingers, "We'll be jumping two steps ahead!"
Internally, Izuku smiled, he liked being right.
"Most often, battles against villains take place outdoors," All Might continued, "But if you look at the total numbers, atrocious villains appear indoors at a higher rate!"
Most of the class whispered things Izuku couldn't quite pick up, not without enhancing his hearing, but he did find that fact a bit surprising. At least, considering what he knew, most villains, and heroes, liked to show off.
"It does give them an ample opportunity to limit a hero's movements," Hinata added from the back of his mind, and he found himself nodding absently. Plus, restricting the movements was just an advantage that you should never pass up.
Controlling the fight was everything.
"–Truly intelligent villains hid in the shadows!" All Might had continued while he drifted off, but he had probably been reiterating what Izuku had just been thinking. Controlling the environment.
"That's why, for this class, you'll be teaming up in pairs of two! Fighting as teams of heroes and villains!"
Izuku could almost hear the loud grumble that came from Sasuke, who had barely talked since a few nights before, the irritation he was exuding was enough to make Izuku feel it without even looking for it.
"We may have been younger than you lot when we started as ninjas, but at least we had training…"
Izuku, silently, agreed. He had a bit of an edge in the form of Shouta, but everyone else here? Most of them probably didn't have any actual combat training to speak of, or official training in quirk combat. Quirk control, most likely. But controlling, and applying, in a fight are two very different things.
"Without basic training?" The girl with the frog mutation asked, for the life of him he couldn't remember her name.
In response, All Might laughed, and clenched his fist, "This is a real battle to understand heroics! However, the key this time is not speed or strength! But instead, strategy, and control! You will be tested in different ways then the entrance exam!"
Suddenly, a large number of questions burst forth from the class, ranging from; "How will wins and losses be determined?" to things like; "How much can we beat someone up?"
That last one was courtesy of Bakugou.
It took a long while for All Might to answer everyone's questions, and even longer to explain how they would set teams up. By random lots, he explained that heroes didn't always get to pick their partners in the field. Which was… fair, but he had a feeling that it wasn't quite that simple.
He had drawn 'J' which meant he had, by all odds, been paired with Jirou Kyouka, whom he had not spoken to since… huh, well, it had been a few days, at least. His opponents, however, could not have been a more explosive match up.
Denki Kaminari, and Bakugou Katsuki. Izuku wanted to punch something– if everything went right he would be able to do that soon– but refrained for the moment. Kaminari was his friend, but that didn't mean he would go easy on him. He was more worried about Bakugou, while the two were on… amicable terms, that didn't mean Bakugou wouldn't be his normal, explosive self. If anything, he might be more aggressive than usual towards the ravenette.
"Now that you have each received your pairs, and opponents, let me explain the simulation!" Their teacher grinned, "the villain team will be given a 'Bomb'" he made quotations with his fingers, which looked quite ridiculous with the large man, "and ten minutes to hide it! After which, the heroes will begin to enter the compound to secure it!"
"There are two ways for the heroes to win!" He added, "Number one, to capture the bomb by touching it, or to incapacittate the two 'villains'. Each way has advantages and disadvantages, but it is up to you to use them in a strategic way!"
Everyone nodded, Izuku and Jirou's eyes met, they would have to use the ten minutes to plan something. Neither of them knew exactly what the other's quirk was, or their experience, so if they wanted to work well together then they would need to use all the time they had. Luckily for them, they would be going last.
As those not participating retreated to an observation room, they watched the matches, none were all too interesting. Except for when Todoroki froze a whole damn building! Liek, seriously? Of course he wasn't able to use fire style jutsus, because being a vessel for other souls wasn't enough, nooooo.
He took a deep breath, that was ok, he was faster than probably everyone here, except All Might, and he could find other counters to his ice.
'I wonder how good his cold tolerance is?' He wondered absently, mostly to himself, but still projecting it to the others.
'You could always just poison him–"
"No, Anko, no lethal poisons on heroes, please." He chastised her, and almost laughed when he called him a "dumbass Uchihas".
Soon enough, it was time for their match, he and Bakugou exchanged a look before the latter left the room, Bakugou snarled at him. Well, it was good to know where they stood, definitely not friends, that was for sure. But it did him no good to hold a grudge either, he was over it, for the most part.
Shortly after that, the two heroes walked out of the observation room, and stood outside the building, waiting for the announcement to proceed. It didn't take long for either of them to start talking to the other.
"So, I saw a bit in the entrance exam, but what exactly is your quirk?" Izuku asked, watching her stiffen so slightly that it would have been almost impossible to see without the Sharingan, "I know it has something to do with sound, obviously, but I don't know where the super strength comes from," Izuku continued to muse, "The slight increase in speed is just a plus from the strength boost, but what does your quirk do to generate it?"
He watched her pale slightly at his line of questioning, and it made him all the more curious, because seriously, what was it?
"I- uh, I can absorb kinetic energy, like sound, and it can be turned into energy. Like being used for strength, and other things."
Izuku nodded, it was a good quirk, a really good one.
If it was actually true.
See, Izuku had always been really, really good at reading people. Even as a child, and even without the Sharingan, he was rather proud of that, but it had only been enhanced with his chakra, and Kekkai Genkai.
However, he still didn't need any of that skill to know that her messing with the end of her ear jacks was, in fact, her nervous tell. It was obvious, kinda like how he would rub his fingers against each other if he was mad, it was obvious, to him at least, but hadn't ever been picked up on by anyone outside his family.
"That's an amazing quirk," and truly, it was, even if she was probably hiding something, or stretching the truth, "The applications for that are nothing short of amazing," he started to mumble, trailing off, "I wonder if that improves your resistance to things like blunt strikes?"
Jirou cleared her throat, pulling him from his own rambling, "And you?"
He stopped, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly, "That's a little… complicated. But I think I can sum it up easily enough," he added, remembering how Sasuke had once described it to him when he was younger, "My body contains an energy my family likes to call 'chakra', it's a quirk thats run through us for ages. It basically allows me to manifest feats in certain ways, like the lightning you saw at the entrance exam, or my enhanced speed, or these," He poured more chakra into his eyes, allowing the Sharingans tomoe, now with a combined total of three in each eye, to spin.
"These are called the Sharingan, a subdivision of my chakra. Not all of my family got them, but the ones who did were extremely powerful. You might remember the hero, Tomoe?"
For a moment, Jirou looked like she might explode from excitement over just the mention of the name. Seriously, his mom had more fans than he initially thought. Eventually, however, she was able to school her features back to a normal baseline.
"I do," She said easily, containing her excitement.
Izuku chuckled at her excitement, causing her to blush ever so slightly, "Well, she had these too, and we all know how strong she was, right?"
Strong enough to be the number five hero before she 'retired' although he figured if Suna wasn't as sick as she was, then she might still be active. As she was still listed as an active hero roster that was pushed to the public.
"So you're really strong, and you can do freaky shit with this energy," She sighed, "Dude, seriously, your quirk sounds busted as hell. Do you even have anything you can't do?"
Izuku paused, pandering for a moment, a weakness?
"I am a bit… prideful, but I do my best not to let it control me, and…" he sighed, he hated talking weaknesses preferring to know his enemies, and not vice versa, "My energy is not unlimited, I have certain restrictions that–"
"Villains! Time is up!" All Might's loud voice blared through the speakers surrounding the mock battle city, "Heroes! You may now enter the building!"
'Well, I guess it's time to kick some ass." The young Uchiha smiled, taking one last look at Jirou, "You in?"
Jirou snorted, a little nervous, "Of course,"
Izuku nodded, "good, then let's go."
The two walked forward, Izuku with his Sharingan spinning, and Jirou listening for the slightest of sounds.
"It's funny," Izuku said, "I have probably the best eyes on the planet, and you might have some of the best hearing ever, with both of us on the same team, nothing can get by us. It's sort of… funny, in a way."
Jirou nodded, trying to pay attention to the slightest of sounds, which he made harder with his talking.
"Can't you just see through walls with your eyes or something?" She asked suddenly, after she didn't hear much of anything.
Izuku winced, "Not… always. It's complicated."
She let it drop, it seemed like a sensitive subject.
"When are you going to tell me how to control that?"
The 'Rose-Sharingan' as Izuku had begun to call it, was some kind of mutation due to Hinata and Sasuke's close connection affecting his Kekkai Genkai, giving it some properties of the Byakugan, theoretically, he would be able to use it on commanded, and even use rotation at some point, whatever rotation was, but he couldn't activate on command, and hadn't since the spar with Bakugou.
It was a lackluster explanation, but Izuku hadn't had much time to work on it, or even try and figure out how to activate it.
"You may have to figure that out on your own." Sasuke replied, with Hinata being oddly quiet.
Typical.
Suddenly, Jirou picked something up, similar to an odd clicking sound that reminded her off…
"Get back!"
Izuku, without hesitation, did as she said. Grabbing her arm and pulling her back with him, just in case she wasn't fast enough. But when Izuku saw the yellow energy that arced down the hallway and through the air, he only smirked.
Denki? Really? Come on now…
Izuku grinned, putting himself in front of Jirou and holding his hands up in front of them, "Lightning Style: Conductor!"
When Izuku had met Denki, he thought that considering they both had a lightning affinity, they would be evenly matched in that area. This wasn't the case, however, and Izuku had designed a jutsu just for these kinds of moments, it was extremely simple, he deployed lightning over his arms, like with Threaded Net, and counteracted the lightning with his own.
"Ah, just some sparks? Nothing to worry about then." He grinned, watching as Denki paled from where he had just let loose his attack, quickly, he turned, and ran around the corner. Jirou started to chase after him, but stopped when Izuku did not follow.
"What are you waiting for? This is our chance!"
Izuku shook his head, "Denki and I are friends, and if we keep shooting lightning off at each other, then we'll be at a weird sort of stand still, on the flip side, I know Bakugou. How he fights, and with that knowledge, I know that you can't fight him."
He said that last part like it was a fact, like she couldn't handle it, and it irritated her, "Oh yea? And why is that?"
'Don't get all indignant," he sighed, realizing he probably could have worded that better, "Your sense of hearing is extremely sensitive, correct? We don't want him to put you out of commission with his explosions, they're loud for me, I can't imagine what that's like for you. So, like I said, it's a bad match up."
Jirou sighed, he was right, "So what then? We don't even know where–"
A sudden booming explosion and the crumbling of the ceiling in front of them answered her unasked question, because they now knew exactly where the explosive blonde was. Jirou cringed at the loud sound, she really should figure out a way to muffle certain sounds.
Bakugou, who had dropped down from the ceiling, clicked his tongue in annoyance, "I knew that idiot wouldn't get the job done," he stepped over the rubble, and out of the dust cloud, his consume was… unique, for lack of a better word. If anything, it certainly stood out.
"I'm ready for that rematch, Uchiha," He grinned, crouching low with his palms exploding in accordance with his words.
"I'll deal with you in a moment," he turned to Jirou, "go, find the bomb, and disable Denki."
"And you?" She asked, cringing, because his answer was obvious.
He grinned, his eyes spinning once more, and boy wasn't that just mesmerizing, "I'll give Bakugou the fight of his life, obviously."
Jirou began to realize that Izuku had a real penchant for a good fight, and while that seemed to be tempered most of the time, Bakugou was seeming to bring that instinct to the forefront of Izuku's personality.
It was kind of unnerving, the complete one-eighty that he did.
But she didn't say any of that, only nodding and dashing down the hallway to their right, seeing as they were at a crossroads of intersecting halls. Bakugou growled and yelled out something that Izuku didn't quite catch, but Izuku didn't waste his time getting to work.
"Lightning Style: Threaded Net!"
Thin webs of lightning shot out from Izuku's feet, covering the floor with arcs of energy that would have gotten most people. But not Bakugou, quickly, he propelled himself forward with his explosions, up and over the lightning, but in getting closer to Izuku, the same was true. He was now in range of Bakugou, as he bore down on him with an exploding palm, and Izuku smirked.
"Gods, you're predictable," he sidestepped Bakugou, watching as everything slowed down thanks to his Sharingan, he would never take this thing for granted, and lifted his knee into Bakugou's stomach, "You didn't think I wasn't analyzing you last time, did you?"
Izuku stepped back, watching as Bakugou dropped to one knee and retched, "Gods, this is pathetic, what happened to the you from our last fight?"
"Shut it!" Bakugou yelled as he stood back up, "I was just warming up, now, it's time for our rematch!"
"Uh huh."
Bakugou dashed toward him again, and he saw what he was aiming for: jump, propellign explosion, overhead kick. Simple enough, he could just catch it, and then counter it. As he said, simple.
Izuku forgot one crucial thing, however, while he was an Uchiha, Bakugou was also massively driven by battle, and bettering himself. This mistake led to the beginning of their real rematch.
As Bakugou dropped down from overhead, aiming an axe kick at his head, Izuku brought up one of his hands to catch it, this was his second mistake, because in that moment, Bakugou used his quirk on his feet, the top of the specifically, pushing it down harder and faster, dizzyingly so, and Izuku caught it.
But that only caused the bones in his hand to crack and fracture.
He howled in pain, watching as Bakugou smiled, but he was still in the air, so as he fell, right before he touched the ground, Izuku used his chakra infused hand to punch Bakugou in the face. Successfully sending him careening back through the hallway, but he caught himself, and smiled back at Izuku. Blood dripped quickly from his, now broken, nose began to stain his smile red.
"You like that?" He barked out a laugh as he watched Izuku nurse his injured hand, "You're not the only one who got a quirk awakening!"
Izuku's eyes widened, there was no way… in such a short time?
The look on his face must have further amused Bakugou, "That's right! After our fight, I trained myself into the ground for days, combined with my anger toward you, well, it certainly helped me along!"
Izuku growled, he should have figured that even with a slightly mended relationship, that Bakugou would still hold on to some semblance of anger toward him. Izuku winning probably didn't do anything for his wounded pride either.
"And what pray tell, was your quirk awakening?" Izuku tried to coax the answer out of him, but he only scoffed at the question.
"Like I'd really answer that, idiot."
Izuku shrugged, it was worth a shot.
"There's no way you can beat me with just one hand, you're as good as dead, you red eyed freak!" Bakugou popped more explosions in his palms, briefly, Izuku watched as his gauntlets flashed red, he didn't yet know their purpose, but he would have to keep an eye on them.
"I guess there's only one way to find out, yeah?" Izuku ground out, lifting up his good hand, and pulling at the wristband that was on his left wrist. Bakugou watched, not yet moving to attack.
'Good, just stand there like an idiot.'
As soon as he had the west band pulled off, Bakugou could see some kind of cloth wrapped around his wrist underneath, even stranger was the writing on it, he couldn't quite tell what it was. But none of that compared to the shock he felt when Izuku pulled his hand back, and bit on his thumb hard enough to draw blood, before pushing it down on the writing.
Izuku smirked as a chokuto poofed into existence from a cloud of smoke, and nestled itself into his working hand.
"Now," Izuku said, standing straighter, "Let's dance."
"Now… let's dance."
Those who were watching the fight, as opposed to those in the infirmary, shivered at those words uttered by one of their resident powerhouses. Shinsou recognized it from the entrance exam, it must have been something he said often.
"Is he… referring to his fight as a dance?" Yaoyorozu asked from the front of the room, watching with slightly widened eyes as the fight continued onward.
"Shouldn't you stop them, All Might? This looks like it's going to get out of hand…" Shinsou muttered as he watched his… friend, that still felt weird to say, fight against the blonde haired bomb. They had history, it seemed.
"What a mad banquet of darkness…" Tokoyami said from Shinsou's left, something that was often said by his fellow student.
All Might was silent for a moment, eyes flickering between the camera's focused on Jirou, and the ones focused on the other two currently fighting, "No," he muttered, "What you're witnessing now is a battle between students with exceptionally powerful quirks, you saw this with young Todoroki, except that was on a different scale."
All might paused, "But in this case, there is an actual fight to gauge, and they must learn to control their quirks while fighting other strong people. Right now, their injuries are within safe parameters. If things get dangerous, and only then, will I step in."
While not everyone agreed completely, they had to admit that his reasoning made sense.
Mostly.
They all turned back to the screen, as they watched Izuku speak again, this time, with the extreme sound of joy dripping into his voice.
"I think it's time to kick this up a notch."
And then, everything exploded.
