After plates of delicious tempera and glasses full of flavorful wine, Sakura and Itachi moved to sit on the simple chairs surrounding a glass fire pit. Sakura couldn't help the shiver that ran down her spine when she saw Itachi's face in the light of the fire. His smoldering eyes made her heart skip a beat. His eye brow rose. "Are you cold Sakura?"
A light blush creeped up her neck to her cheeks. "N-no, I, uh, the fire is beautiful. It's such a lovely contrast to the stars." While Sakura loved the way Itachi looked by the fire, Itachi loved the way Sakura seemed to glow under the moonlight. His eyes trailing every inch of her while she looked up at the stars. "Beautiful indeed." He replied, almost breathlessly. Sakura's face burned again at Itachi's words, her eyes twinkled with irrepressible mischief. Controlcontrolcontrolcontrol. Sakura took a deep breath. Part of her wanted to curl into a shy ball. The other, more dominant, part of her wanted to jump the man across from her. Judging by his tone and the look he was giving her when he thought she wasn't looking, she would guess he wouldn't mind if she did the latter.
Needless to say, with all the wine Sakura was feeling confident. "What else do we have planned for tonight? Something hot and messy?" Itachi smirked. "Kind of, yes." And with those few words, Sakura realized how much of a coward she was. Her eyes widened as she sat straighter. "W-what?" Sakura was certainly not the type to have sex on the first date. Even if her date looked like a literal sex god. A low bartone chuckle left his lips as he stood up and offered her his hand. "As much as I would love to sit and see the stars with you, Shisui is waiting for us."
Sakura's eyebrows almost went to her hairline, her face illuminating red brighter than the north star. Wait, WHAT?! She felt a bead of sweat drip down her neck. "S-Shisui?" Sakura asked bewildered. "U-um. Itachi. I don't-" "Before you finish that sentence." He cut her off with a smirk. "It is probably not what you are thinking." Sakura visibly relaxed as a huge relieved sigh left her mouth. She was really worried this might be one of THOSE stories. She wasn't sure she was ready for that type of plot at this time.
Post could-have-been-but-not-really heart attack, Sakura placed her hand in Itachi's and admired the coarse calluses on his hand. She even brought his hand to chest level and began inspecting it. Even the medic in her was getting hot over his raw strength showed in the most detailed of ways. Hands could say a lot about a person, especially in their line of work. Itachi cleared his throat and she looked up to see a slight blush on his face. She bloomed with a soft smile. "Sorry, the medic in me knows that the eyes are the soul but the hands are the lifestyle. Your calluses show your dedication to protecting this village, your friends, and family. Itachi, you-" She bit her bottom lip and slipped her hand fully against his, crossing their fingers together. "Sorry. Where to next?"
"Somewhere hot and messy." He said with a sincere smile. He moved her hair behind her ear and softly stroked her cheek to her chin. No one noticed his hands before. Not that he was insecure but her compliment was probably the best he's ever received. It might be strange but her attention to detail really brought on butterflies. She wasn't just surface like everyone else. He held her hand tighter as he turned away and began to walk her out of the restaurant and to his destination.
Once on the street Sakura moved closer to him. Keeping their hands together she placed her other hand in the crook of his elbow, slightly hugging his arm to her as they walked. She looked up to see his reaction, not wanting to annoy him. To her surprise he bent down to kiss her forehead and continued walking with a small smile on his face. She blushed and looked forward. The walk was quiet as both Sakura and Inner Sakura were mentally melting over his kiss. Both were comfortable with each other's silence and Sakura felt she could walk forever in front of everyone like this. She certainly wouldn't mind showing the world that Uchiha Itachi was hers.
Her eyes lit up as she saw a cute little shop with its lights on. The sign still said closed and she knew this particular building should be closed by now. "Itachi, are we going to the bakery?" She couldn't keep the excitement out of her voice. This bakery had become her favorite place on earth. One could almost say it was bane of her existence and the object of all her desires. However, she did realize the man next her was certainly making his way into her "Object of all her desires" number 1 spot.
They walked through the front door and Sakura giggled with glee at the familiar chime of the bell. She could hear soft pop music playing from the back room. Itachi let go of her hand and grabbed the one still on his elbow. He twirled her around. "I thought maybe you would like to create our dessert for tonight. Together." He smiled at her and grabbed her empty hand after she was facing him again. He could almost see the hearts in her eyes but he wasn't sure for him or the promise of chocolate. "Yes! I would love to!" Sakura was practically vibrating at the thought of baking with Itachi. He'd been in her dreams last night, baking. Although if she remembered correctly, he was only in the apron. Her face blushed thinking about her dream and looked at her own clothes.
"Ino would kill me if I ruined this dress." Itachi lifted her chin gently to have her look back up at him. "That is where Shisui comes in." At those very words, the spoken-into-existence devil crashed through the backdoor holding a backpack in each hand. "TAA-DAAAA!" He yelled excitedly as he rounded the counter. "Your wardrobe change from the esteemed Ms. Yamanaka Ino herself." He presented one of the backpacks to her on one knee. She giggled and took the backpack from him. "Thank you Shisui. I'll be right back." She ruffled Shisui's hair and looked back at Itachi with a wink before going into the women's bathroom to change.
Shisui stood up and threw the other backpack at Itachi. "How's it going? Will she be our next matriarch?" He wiggled his eyebrows. Itachi caught the bag and gave him a dead stare. "Pretty fast don't you think?" Shishui giggled. "Not at all, little cousin. I'm fairly certain Oba-san is planning your wedding as we speak." He snickered at the light blush on Itachi's cheeks at the mention of a wedding.
"Did you take care of our followers?" Itachi asked as he walked by Shisui to the bathroom. Shisui got serious. "Six feet under as requested." Itachi stopped and tensely turned back to Shisui. A moment passed with the both of them looking at each other with dead stares. "Shi-" "Their heads are above ground. Calm down." Itachi visibly relaxed. "Thank you, cousin. Have a good night." Shisui smiled and saluted. "Don't mess it up with your future wife!" Shisui popped out of the room. Itachi smiled while shaking his head and went into the bathroom to quickly change.
He wouldn't mess this up. Perhaps he wouldn't say it outloud right now, but he thought Sakura would make the perfect wife and wonderful matriarch as well.
