4 months had passed since Padme's death. Everyone eventually transitioned back into their normal routines, but Padme's death was a cloak of despair that covered them all. Gatherings were quieter and more reserved. Lighthearted joking was strained and it was no mystery why. The death of a loved one caused more pain and suffering than one could imagine.

Eventually, Sola couldn't bear it. They had talked about Padme, but no questions were ever asked. Her daughters had asked a few questions soon after Padme's death, but Sola couldn't answer any of them. She didn't know the answers and no one else was asking them. But it was only going to continue their living in grief. There wasn't a place to find healing. And that needed to change.

"Doesn't anyone else want to know what happened?" Sola couldn't help but finally ask one spring evening after dinner, when all of the adults were in the living room. The girls were playing outside, so she didn't have to worry about her daughters overhearing the conversation. Everyone looked at her. Silence quickly filled the room uncomfortably. Darred, her husband, looked startled. Pain descended on the faces of Jobal and Ruwee. Sola had everyone's attention.

"There's more to it. I know there is." She said when no one verbally responded to her question. Darred uncomfortably shifted in his seat next to his wife.

"Sweetheart, you know Naboo custom…" He wearily responded. Naboo was very private when it came to personal matters. It went against customs to ask questions about Padme's personal life when she had chosen not to reveal information. Sola knew all of this very well, but frankly didn't care.

"This is my sister we're talking about. We are her family. We should have a right to know more information other than she was killed around the time there was the Jedi purge on Coruscant."

"Sola, we'd like to know, but we should give Padme some privacy. That's what she would have wanted. There are probably reasons she kept it quiet…. Oh look what I'm doing. I don't want to pretend I don't want to know." Jobal responded sadly. She too wanted to know what happened. They weren't just talking about a random stranger, but a close family member.

"I know that Naboo has a tradition with this sort of thing, but this is my little girl. I want to know what happened that led to her pregnancy and death. Why didn't she tell us?" Ruwee asked, heartbroken.

"Maybe something happened that she was ashamed or embarrassed about. After all, she out of all people knew that having children out of wedlock is looked down upon here."

Jobal stared at her oldest daughter, her jaw dropped in shock. "Do you think she did something… disgraceful? Like a one night stand?"

Sola frowned, uncertain. "I don't know."

"That just doesn't sound like something that Padme would do." Darred jumped in. "Unless she was…forced."

Everyone became silent when that possible reality sunk in. It was too horrible to think about, but they didn't have many logical possibilities.

"What a terrible thing. After all, she never was open about her love life." Jobal said, almost in tears. Her husband grabbed her hand, and squeezed it, trying to comfort her as she became overwhelmed by emotions.

"The only time she brought a boy home was a few years ago when she brought that Jedi home…" Sola stopped suddenly as her eyes widened. Her hands flew to her mouth, covering it.

"You think she was romantically involved with a Jedi?" Ruwee asked, surprised.

Sola stared at her father for a moment before dropping her hands to her side. "She did tell me on several occasions when I'd tease her about him that Jedi weren't allowed to marry. It was one of the few things she said. What if she and Anakin Skywalker had a secret relationship? That would make more sense. She wouldn't have been dumb enough to have a one night stand with someone, especially a stranger. She had more class than that."

Jobal gave a small smile as she thought about that day, 3 years ago. That day was still clear in her mind. Padme had come to visit before she had to go into hiding, after attempts were made on her life. A young handsome Jedi accompanied her, acting as her bodyguard. Now Padme claimed that he was just a friend, an acquaintance, but clearly the Jedi didn't think that. He looked at her as if she was his world.

"He did seem interested in her when they visited. And I don't think she was necessarily telling the complete truth when she said that he was just a friend."

"But to be the father of her child, that's a bold statement, Jobal." Ruwee hesitantly replied, not fully willing to agree.

"You do have to admit that it's more logical than anything else. And it's not like we can ask him because Anakin is dead too, along with Padme and her unborn baby."

"But if that's not the complete truth? What if we weren't told the whole truth?"

They all looked at the oldest Naberrie daughter like she was absolutely crazy.

"Are you saying that you don't think Anakin Skywalker is dead? Even after the Holo Network reported it?

Sola stared her husband straight in the eyes, dead serious. "They never said anything about finding a body. No images were shown. It's possible that he's dead, but also equally possible that he's alive. For all we know, he could be hiding on some remote planet, possibly under a false identity. Or he could be a prisoner of the Empire. After all, the new Empire isn't exactly Jedi friendly." Sola knew her thoughts were out there, but she just couldn't help but wonder.

"Maybe, if we can find Anakin, we can find some answers to what happened to Padme. What happened to the Jedi?" Sola concluded. She watched the expressions on her family's faces change.

Ruwee sat back, pondering her words. "You think that the Jedi are connected to Padme's death?"

Sola shook her head. "Not necessarily. Padme worked closely with the Jedi over the years, so they might have some information. The purge and her death were within the span of a few days. But I don't think that they would have influenced her death. Padme always spoke highly of the Jedi."

Darred stood up to pace the length of the room. He crossed his arms and furrowed his brow as he thought about everything that his wife was saying. Ideas and theories spun around his mind as he tried to fit them all together and understand them, possibly even see something that he wasn't seeing, but all he got was a massive headache.

"This is a lot to process, Sola. Let's think about it more and then discuss it again. It's probably this complex for a reason."

Ruwee and Jobal both agreed. They all left the room. Darred and Ruwee went outside to check on Ryoo and Pooja while Jobal went to finish cleaning the kitchen.

Sola remained seated on the couch, her mind still running as fast as it could. Anakin Skywalker had to be alive. He just had to. She had seen all of the reports from the Holonet during the War. He was the poster boy for the Jedi. The Hero with No Fear. He powerfully and swiftly won battle after battle alongside fellow Jedi Obi Wan Kenobi. The dynamic duo filled beings all over the Galaxy with hope, even if they didn't want to admit it. So he couldn't have died, at least not without a fight. Still, something inside Sola told her that he was alive.

Her lips pursed as determination filled her. She quickly found a datapad, and after sitting back down on the couch, her fingers danced over the keypad.

Anakin Skywalker

She pressed enter and held her breath, waiting to see what would appear. But she was surprised when only a few news articles appeared.

Anakin Skywalker Jedi Knight Killed in Jedi Purges

Hero with No Fear Reported DEAD

"What?" She whispered under her breath as she looked at a few more titles. She only saw articles about his death. Nothing else appeared. This was strange because of how famous he had been. Battle reports from the War didn't even appear. It was like all of that information along with his legacy was being erased. She didn't understand it. But then finally something caught her eye.

Tatooine Native, Jedi Anakin Skywalker, Killed In Battle

Her eyes frantically stared at the screen as she clicked on the article. As she read, her surprise grew.

Anakin was born on Tatooine?

When that article proved to have no more useful information, she continued to scroll through the last few websites. Nothing else came up. So, she resorted to a few different revisions of her previous search. Again, nothing came up.

Tatooine Jedi

Nothing came up.

Tatooine Native Jedi

Nothing came up.

After a handful of more dead ends, she finally found something else that looked promising.

Anakin Skywalker Tatooine

She pressed enter and sighed in relief as something else came up. Only one article, but it looked intriguing.

Tatooine Human Wins Boonta Eve Classic

This time, Sola saw a picture of what appeared to be a younger version of Anakin. In the picture, he was grinning ear to ear as he was surrounded by a large group of people, near a pod racer. A brown haired woman, probably middle aged, stood next to him, smiling down at him.

She began to read the article, but quickly stopped a few sentences in as something hit her.

She froze as she stared at the sentence. As she stared at the word. Slave. Anakin Skywalker was a former slave.
