It had been a month and a half since the young cockapoo pup had arrived to the shelter, thanks to a young man named Ian. She been taking obedience classes three times a week, and was one of the most loyal dogs in the building. She also had been well-fed and much more healthy than she would have been if she stayed on the streets. Although she was eyed by many people, she was reserved for one person in particular. It was a flight attendant, who worked for the local airport, named Kathrine. Why? She had visited & bonded with the pup five times, and was talking to her boss about taking the cockapoo on the plane with her. The pup was also excited about this, because each time she when outside, she stared at the airplanes flying through the sky, imagining what it would be like to soar through the great blue yonder.

The bell from the front of the store ringed, and the young cockapoo perked up from her slumber. Today was the day she would find out if Kathrine would become her first owner. The pup anticipatingly stared at the door at the humans went in and out from. After what felt like hours and hours, the door finally creaked open. The small pup's tail wagged excitedly, as she scented Kathrine, alongside Ian. When she saw Kathrine's face, adrenaline rushed through her veins.

"Well…" the lady uttered. "You're my new pup!" she exclaimed. Kathrine scooped the cockapoo pup in her hands, and hugged her. The pup yipped, tail wagging rapidly side to side.

"What're you going to name her?" Ian inquired.

"I've thought about this for a while and decide to name her…" Kathrine responded, pausing for dramatics. "Skye!"

The cockapoo howled gleefully. She liked her new name.

"Bye, little girl," Ian affectionately murmured.

Skye licked Ian's cheek.

As Kathrine walked out, holding Skye, she yipped farewell to all the dogs—and humans—she had befriended in her time at the shelter. She was a bit sorrow, but she couldn't hide the ear-to-ear grin off of her face.

Her new owner placed her in a car, and strapped the seat belt over her. Kathrine turned the key, then the car started up. As the vehicle drove along the road, Skye stared up at the sky, starry-eyed. Soon, they arrived at an apartment building, and walked inside. After the doorman congratulated her on adopted the new puppy, they walked into the elevator. Kathrine tapped a button, and the elevator started moving upwards. Skye was startled for a moment, but got used to it shortly after. Once they reached their floor, the elevator halted and the doors opened. Kathrine ambled a few steps, then got her keys out of her pocket, and opened the door to her apartment; it would now be shared with the young cockapoo. She set Skye on the floor, and she sprinted from place to place, while sniffing her surroundings.

Katherine chuckled at her new pup. "I made a little something for you." She carried Skye to her bedroom, where the corner of the room contained a bed, like the on at the shelter, and some toys. Skye jumped out of Kathrine's arms, into her personal space.

"There's one more surprise for you," Kathrine said.

Skye turned to look at the lady, and groaned in intrigue. Kathrine got an item from her pocket, and placed it on the ground. It was the mouse from her area at the shelter! Skye ran to it, picked it up, and ran back to her bed. She got comfortable, and fell asleep.

Kathrine lightly giggled, then fetched a mall blanket from her closet. She placed it on Skye, who was hugging the mouse.

"Sleep tight, girl," she whispered.

Author's note: Just clearing it up, Skye wasn't sold, she was adopted.
