Chapter 15
Meeting Madarame and a young artist inspired by a Father's Fury
May 13th
Velvet Room
Ren and Lorelei went to the Velvet Room to tell Igor about the Councillor Arcana.
After saying hello to Igor and the twins though Igor's eyes was on the Councillor Card.
"Ah the Councillor Arcana. This is the first time I see it." Igor said.
"I know of the card itself when it's right side up. It represents diplomacy, possibilities of choice, creativity, skills to persuade, vitality and power over mental illness." Justine said with a small smile though she hides it with her clip board.
"However when upside down it represents indecisiveness, insecurity, lack of originality, sickness or exploitation of the innocent." Caroline said with a grave tone as she tightens her grip on her shock baton.
"Despite this oddity you must cultivate this bond like all of the others my son in law." Igor said as he held his hands together.
Lorelei just now remembering about something.
"Oh grandpa we found a lead on mama!" Lorelei said with a smile.
"Oh you did and where is she?" Igor asked as he went more wide eyed than usual.
"We believe she's in a deeper part of Mementos." Ren said as Igor nods.
"We need to get stronger to save mama." Lorelei said.
"Indeed sweetie. With that in mind I'd like to do some fusions." Ren said as the twins grinned.
Igor opens the cell door for Lorelei to pass through as Ren and the twins did the fusions.
20 minutes later
Igor and Lorelei returns after she had her new demons go into the Sea of Souls while Ren was had just finished his fusions with a smile on his face.
Along with a pair of pouts from the twins.
"Oh I see that bond with the Strength has blossomed." Igor said.
Lorelei smiled at her papa was kind with her aunties.
"Yup I got a new Ame no Uzume with Feri, a Flauros with Tarukaja and to top it off a Phoenix with Counter." Ren said with a bow.
"Grrrr. How the hell did he do this so quickly?!" Caroline shouted.
Lorelei unperturbed answered her small aunties.
"Oh Uncles Minato and Yu helped him and gave him fusion tips." Lorelei said as the Velvet Room attendants listened in.
The Twins were shocked but then the both of them looked at each other and nodded.
"Alright then Ren you want to go rough?" Caroline said with a savage grin.
"We'll make it rough." Justine said with a savage grin of her own.
"Alright then for this challenge is quite simple you need to bring us two fusions." Caroline said.
"Indeed first off we need a Setanta with Rakukaja." Justine said.
"The second is a Napaea with Tarunda and Mazio." Caroline said with a grin.
Igor, Ren and Lorelei looked at the twins with baffled look on their face but Ren gave his signature grin and said.
"Bring it on you two. In fact show me what I need to fuse a Napaea?" Ren asked as the Twins showed him.
With a nod he makes the list fade as he and Lorelei walk away from the Velvet Room after saying goodbye to Igor and the Twins.
Real World
Shibuya
After the both of them left the Velvet Room they find Ryuji and Ann at Retrocade and they talked about what happened.
"So beside the basic stuff we got nothing about the new Arcana you got." Ann said.
"I'm afraid so guys." Ren said.
"So the Loli Twins gave you a harder challenge but I'm sure that you'll kick butt." Ryuji said.
"Yup but I think we should keep low for now." Ren said.
"Ren's right let's stay out of trouble. So Ryuji I hope you listening you ape." Morgana said.
"Oh shut up you cat." Ryuji grumbled.
Lorelei was playing Dance Dance Revolution and getting a high score but it was on an easier difficulty.
After a while the group went on their way. When they arrived and placed Lorelei to bed Ren went out to see Yoshida and help him out.
After that he came back and went to bed dreading the next day of exams.
May 14th
Train station
Today was the last day of exams despite the excitement of being free from the exams everyone in Shujin Academy still kept their guard up lest they fail.
Ren, Ann and Ryuji had just left their train when they were talking about the exams and what they would do after them.
But then Ann felt something.
"Hey guys I think someone is following us." Ann Whispered.
"Ren what do we do?" Ryuji asked.
"We split up and corner him at the entrance." Ren said as the three of them nod.
They did just that as the person followed Ann towards the entrance, Ren and Ryuji weren't far behind.
As said person was about to touch Ann's shoulder Ren and Ryuji stopped him.
Taken aback he backed off.
"Alright dude what the hell you want with our friend?" Ryuji asked keeping his eyes on him.
"That's right." Ren said.
All the while Morgana was hissing from inside Ren's bag.
"Please forgive me it's just I was struck by inspiration." The young man said.
The three of them gave him a flat look on their faces.
"But before I explain myself my name is Kitagawa Yusuke." The now named Yusuke said.
Yusuke has dark blue hair with parted bangs slightly covering his left eye and gray eyes. His is noticeably taller and thinner than Ren and Ryuji.
He was wearing a variant of his High School uniform. Which consists of a white gakuran-style shirt embroidered with a fleur-de-lis, fitted black pants and black loafers. A silver ring that holds multiple keys is attached to his belt loop.
"So Kitagawa once again I ask why do you want to talk to our friend?" Ren asked.
"Ah yes I'm inspired by the young lady's beauty and I wish to capture in a painting." Yusuke said.
Both boys separated from Ann letting her know that she can take care of this. But also letting her know that they will back her up.
With a nod Ann stepped forward but just before she could speak a limousine drove up revealing an old man.
"My word Yusuke I was wondering why you left in a hurry but I now can see why." The Old Man said as he looks at Ann.
"Ah Master Madarame. I apologize dearly." Yusuke said as he bowed.
Madarame is an elderly man with long grey hair tied in a ponytail and he has short facial hair. He wears traditional Japanese clothes.
"The thieves' eyes widen as they heard the name Madarame." Knowing that was the same name Nakanohara mentioned.
"Oh where are my manners. I'm Ichiryusai Madarame allow me to apologize for my student." The now named Madarame said.
"It's nothing sir we were just caught off guard. There was an incident at our school and my friends are protective of me." Ann said.
Madarame listened and noticed that they were wearing Shujin Academy uniforms.
"I see well then I'd like to invite to my exhibit in Ueno." Madarame said as he passes three tickets to the group.
"Thank you Madarame-san." Ann said.
"Excuse me but can we have one more for my daughter?" Ren asked.
This surprises the artists.
"A father at your age that's quite um." Yusuke said as he tries to find the word.
"Unexpected yeah I get that a lot." Ren said with a shrug.
"Indeed but yes I'll allow it but I need proof for security measures of course. The owner of the museum I'm using is demanding heighten security. Mostly due to some kidnapping, the owners family were the victims." Madarame said.
With a hesitant nod he shows them a picture of Lorelei.
"Ah I see she's quite adorable. Well we hope to see her and you soon. Come along Yusuke." Madarame said.
"Of course master. I will see you soon then." Yusuke said as he gets in the car with his master.
After they left Ryuji piped up.
"Well that happened." Ryuji said.
"Indeed we should take the chance to get some clues." Morgana said.
"Or we could just use the App like Lorelei did." Ren said.
"Ah that can work too I guess." Morgana said.
"Ichiryusai Madarame." Ren said as he used the Metapp.
"Candidate Found."
"Well that confirms that Madarame has a Palace but we need to know where it is and what it is." Morgana said.
"Maybe Yusuke-san can give us a clue tomorrow." Ann said as Ren nods.
"You're Ann for now have something worse to face. The exams." Ren said as the two blonds slumped as they went on ahead to school.
Later that day
After school
They were dead truly dead. Or at least that's how Ryuji and Ann felt. The latter knew that she did well in English but for everything else not so much.
Ryuji on the other hand knew he was dead so he just raised the white flag before the battle began and just threw some random answers.
Ren on the hand knew he did well considering he was the top of Meguro High before that bastard ruined his life. But he was tired as well.
So…home? Ren said as the two blondes nod.
But just before Ren could go back to Leblanc. Makoto called out to Ren.
"Excuse me Ren I'd like to speak to you for a moment." Makoto said.
Ryuji and Ann looked at Ren for a bit before he told them go he'll handle this.
"Is there anything you need Niijima-san?" Ren asked.
"Well Principal Kobayakawa just wanted to know you and Lorelei are safe." Makoto asked.
"Yeah we are, give him my thanks Niijima-san. Oh by the way Lorelei wanted me to give you and your sister this." Ren said as he gives two envelopes.
"Oh what's this?" Makoto said as she looks at the envelope and sees that it is an invitation to Lorelei's birthday.
Makoto looked confused.
"Lorelei wanted to give you and your sister another chance." Ren said.
"Which would explains the Invitations. Thank you Ren and give my thanks to Lorelei as well." Makoto said.
"Of course until Monday Makoto." Ren said as he leaves.
Makoto smiles as she looks at the envelope with a smile.
With nothing else to do she heads back to do her duties to the student council. She also opens her envelope to see the date with was the end of the month.
"I'll have to see if my sis is available for that day." Makoto said.
Café Leblanc
Ren opens the door with a smile on his face.
"I live you sons of guns." Ren said censoring himself as he enters the café.
"Ah I see that the exams are done anyway I put Lorelei to nap so she should be waking up right now." Sojiro said knowing why Ren said that.
"Ah alright then thanks again Sojiro." Ren said as he heads upstairs.
Lorelei was playing Contra on her Famicom and losing.
"Gggrrrr ah man." Lorelei said with a pout as the game over screen.
"Ohh Contra. Have you tried the Konami code sweetie?" Ren asked.
"Oh Papa you're back and no I didn't because I don't know it." Lorelei said.
"It's a simple one sweetie. It's Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A and press Start." Ren said as Lorelei did just that.
"Wwwwaaaaa I got thirty lives. Now I'm gonna kick the alien butts." Lorelei said with a starry eyed look.
Soon Father and Daughter take turns to beat the game.
Meanwhile at the Sakura residence
Sakura was looking at the bond between father and daughter with a smile.
"I wish I can do something like that with Sojiro." Sakura said with a sigh.
The Hikikomori shivers as she hears the corrupted voice of her mother once again.
But Sakura was ready for her.
"Hey 'Mom' does this sound familiar." Futaba said as she plays a song on her phone.
This causes the voice to scream in pain as it disappears.
Sakura sighs in relief as she smiles as she heads to her bed. The song she played was a recording of Lorelei's Music Box.
The reason why she has it in the first place was simple. During Lorelei's time with the Sakura's and during one of her naps Futaba has a nightmare about her mother and her voice was telling how much she hated her.
Lorelei heard her (Surprising both of them) and she was very mad and cranky. She looks for something and then finds it. It was her music box. She winds it up and opens it. As the song plays Futaba calms down but the fake Wakaba was screaming in pain as she disappears.
Seeing the illusion was gone Futaba was about to demand the music box but Lorelei gives her a pouty glare and said to her.
"After Nappies." Lorelei said.
"Ok, ok after nappies." Futaba said as Lorelei falls asleep.
Let it be known that Lorelei likes her naps.
But after the nap Futaba recorded the song and thanks Lorelei.
Now that Lorelei is back with Ren and would most likely go back to school. Lorelei wouldn't be with her.
She decides to keep an eye on her.
"Thanks sweetie I needed that." Futaba said with a smile as she goes to bed.
May 15th
Today was the day of Madarame's exhibit. Yusuke saw Ann and happily smiled.
"Ah you came." Yusuke said happily smiling at Ann's presence.
But then he sees Ren, Ryuji and Lorelei.
"Oh you actually came." Yusuke said.
He looks at Lorelei for a bit. With a raised eyebrow he speaks to her.
"Excuse me… Lorelei was it? Have we met?" Yusuke asked.
Lorelei shakes her head.
"No I haven't mister." Lorelei said.
"Hmmm how odd I could have sworn, but any who I hope you enjoy the exhibit. Ann would you come with me I'd like to explain some details." Yusuke said as Ann went with him.
As they looked around a crowd began to form and began barging in knocking the three of them down on the floor. Seeing Lorelei on the floor Ren's Fatherly instincts activated and uses his body to shield her.
"Gah! Grrr. Are you ok Lorelei? Ow!" Ren said as he gets hurt.
"Papa. You're hurt." Lorelei said with teary eyes.
"I'm ok sweetie." Ren said as he tries to stand up.
"Yo! Dude you ok!" Ryuji shouted.
"Don't know but as long as Lorelei is ok." Ren said.
But Ren felt a slight sting.
"Although I think I need to see Takemi… after I rip into some assholes." Ren said as he removes his glasses.
"Oh boy someone is gonna be dead." Ryuji mumbled as he dusts himself off.
With glasses off and red eyes glaring at the crowd he unleashed his paternal fury.
"Oy! What the hell were you all thinking! You nearly killed me and my daughter with you morons rushing in and hell I saw sign where there was a limit to how many can be here!" Ren shouted as he glares at the people that ran him over.
He also calmed down Lorelei in a gentle tone.
The people ignored him but a familiar voice piped up.
"WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!"
Ren's glare turn to see Theodore. A very angry Theodore.
Madarame noticed the absolute furious look on Theodore's face he walked up to him.
"Oh my goodness Velvet-San I apologize for this mess. I'll fix it right away." Madarame said.
"You're forgiven Madarame but I need to tear apart the idiots who tried to dare harmed my niece." Theodore said.
"Niece?" Madarame said as he noticed Theodore looking at Lorelei.
Madarame puts two and two together and realizing the little girl with Ren is Theodore's Niece.
"Your niece I didn't know you're an Uncle." Madarame said.
"Well I mostly keep to myself and don't tell people about my family. Hell I people don't know that I'm married… until now." Theodore said as he facepalms.
Surprised by this Madarame says an awkward congratulations to Theodore while he tears into the group that trampled Ren.
To summarize Theodore would sue them for both physical and emotional damage. Madarame hoped that he wouldn't get into trouble. But Theodore assures Madarame that he'll make sure that he isn't mentioned.
Yusuke and Ann on the other were wide eyed.
Ann was worried about Ren and Lorelei. Mostly Lorelei.
Yusuke on the other hand was inspired by Ren's red eyes showing both an unrelenting fury and a contrasting gentle tone when he speaks to Lorelei.
"My god it's so beautiful the gentle tone of his voice and the unbridled rage of his red eyes." Yusuke said.
"Yeah mess with Lorelei and… wait red eyes geez this is the second time someone where people tell us that Ren has red eyes where he only has stormy grey." Ann said.
"Hmmm perhaps his eyes becomes like that when angered?" Yusuke said as Ann shrugged.
"Maybe I've only known him for less than a month but I know I can trust and know not piss him off especially not to hurt his kid." Ann said.
"Indeed to think I would leave with two muses." Yusuke said.
This catches Ann's attention.
"Hold on two muses?" Ann asked.
"Of course. Your natural beauty and Ren's contrasting nature will be some of my greatest inspirations." Yusuke said.
"Huh I'll ask Ren about it then is there anything else you want to know?" Ann asked.
"Yes for some reason Lorelei is familiar with me despite just meeting today and I'd like to find out why." Yusuke said.
"Ok… anyway as long you don't do any weird to Lorelei that would good." Ann said
"Of course I wouldn't do that and if I did Amamiya-san would skin me alive, bathe me in salt, boil me alive and finally turn my skin into a coat." Yusuke said.
"Oddly specific but ok can we hammer out the detail tomorrow after school." Ann said.
And Ann believed that would happen to Yusuke if he did that.
"Of course Takamaki-san." Yusuke said.
Soon the group left the exhibit and went back home.
Café Leblanc
"We're back Sojiro." Ren said as they opened the door.
Sojiro got a look at him and was surprised by how Ren looked.
"Whoa what happened to you?" Sojiro asked.
"Some mean people ran over papa and Ryuji-Nii." Lorelei said with a pout.
With wide eyes as he looks at Ren. Who nods at the authenticity Lorelei's story.
"I'll pay Takemi a visit after I put Lorelei to bed." Ren said.
"Alright then Ren by the way did you break your glasses?" Sojiro asked.
Ren then noticed the lack of glasses on his face.
"Oh I know I forgot something." Ren said as he puts on said glasses.
"I don't think that Teddie can give you infinite glasses." Sojiro said as Lorelei chuckles.
"Well then Lorelei it's Bedtime I'll be reading the Hachiko story tonight." Ren said.
"Yay!" Lorelei cheered.
With that Ren puts Lorelei bed after reading the story of Hachiko and decides to visit Takemi.
Takemi's clinic
Takemi was about close up for the night when Ren comes in.
"Hey Takemi I'm back." Ren said.
"Yeesh what happened did the local single moms run you over?" Tae asked.
"I was run over but not moms but snobbish assholes." Ren said.
"I'd ask why but I can guest why." Tae said.
Tae believed that Ren was protecting Lorelei.
Ren nodded confirming her suspicions.
"Well then let's get you patched up Amamiya." Tae said.
After getting patched he goes back to Leblanc and heads to bed.
For tomorrow the go into Madarame's Palace.
Meanwhile at Madarame's home
Yusuke was thinking about Ann and Ren. He wondered how he would express it.
But a thought came to him.
"Hold on why does Ren and Lorelei look familiar?" Yusuke said.
As Yusuke thinks about this he remembers a painting he made almost 4 years ago.
"Hmmm perhaps I can show them that painting tomorrow." Yusuke said as he goes to bed.
