Collateral Damages
The rumor mill at Parsons Valentine and Hunt is ablaze with speculations running a muck now that Fallon, Reed and Ames have received their sentences….. Fallon was given the maximum sentence of 25 years for the egregious 1st degree charge with a parole option at 15 years. Reed and Ames received the maximum 4 years with no parole option.
Parsons, Valentine and Hunt meet with Marty Adler and Ellen Chu Sanderson
Parsons: Marty … how in the hell did you let this get this far…. What in the world were you thinking…. The media is painting the firm as a den full of perverts
Marty: I can explain
Valentine: Explain what… that you fucked this up.
Ellen: Like I told Marty …. We may have a bigger problem… Nick Laren….. Laren Equities is fuming mad that his wife was put on public display.
Hunt: I know Dominic maybe we can come to some settlement.
Ellen: How well do you know him… word has it that he has taken a special liking to Ingrid ever since she made him a grandfather.
Marty : I'll show that it was a lower level employee that tried to make a buck and that's how it got out.
Parsons: Marty… you stay out of it…. You've done enough damage to the firm… Ellen use your sources to find out what they are looking for…. This trial was bad enough on our reputation….. a second trial will destroy us….. Ellen you handle it and report to us… Marty clean up the shit you've allowed to happen.
Marty knows that his days are numbered , but it becomes even more so when Ingrid Laren and April Woo enter the Law Offices of Parsons, Valentine and Hunt and go directly to Marty's office.
Ingrid and April return to the Parsons, Valentine and Hunt Offices
Ingrid: Roberta can you see if Mr Adler can see us ?
Roberta: Is this in regards to the case?
Ingrid: Yes
Roberta: I've been instructed by the senior partners that everything be directed to Ellen Chu Sanderson….. I'll see if she can see you now.
Ingrid looks to April : looks like changes have just begun…. You're still comfortable with this?
April: Absolutely Ellen Chu Sanderson personally comes to greet Ingrid and April and asks them to join her in her office.
Ellen: before we get down to what both of you have to say… I would like to say I was horrified at what you went through April… On behalf of myself and all the employees of the firm our heart felt apologies to you. Ingrid …. We've increased security ….. what was allowed to happen won't ever happen again.
Ingrid: Ellen….. I'm sure you mean it….. since you yourself have experienced setbacks…. It's part of the Partner Track that so many of us have been told to follow… but it's to little to late….. have you been assigned to clean up Marty's messes?
Ellen: I understand words won't be enough to satisfy your feelings, but I will listen to what you need to say.
Ingrid: My purpose for arriving today is to have my final look at a place I once thought was my ultimate goal…. After all these years I've come to realize that our paths and direction are not mutually conducive to one another…. I'm officially resigning as Junior Partner and employee of Parsons, Valentine and Hunt. April can speak for herself.
April: I no longer feel safe in this environment that was allowed to grow and fester ….. So I too am resigning from my position.
Ellen: Is there anything I could do to change your minds.
Ingrid: The damage has been done… there is no turning back.
Ellen: What will you do next?

As they leave Ellen's office, Ellen's phone immediately begins to ring

Ellen: I will report to the senior partners … what I can tell you they both resigned.
Marty: At least they are finally out of here.

Rachel sees Ingrid and April leaving

Ingrid: We won't be having our morning coffee together…. We quit.
Rachel: When do you think you can open the new office… I want out of here, but I still need my salary…. I don't have a rich husband like you.
Ingrid : everything in due course…. What did you think of Tim?

Rachel: Wouldn't it be ironic if she did…. But without Nick that would be a pipe dream.
Tyler: Nick is the man….Marty is going to regret pissing him off….. She's won round one … Fallon and his stooges got their just rewards…. Round two is just beginning… this will be fun just watching.
Rachel: Nick with Tim's help has hired one of the best civil litigation lawyers.

Tyler: He's not angry with you… we're not back to that again?
Ingrid: We're fine in fact we're taking a family vacation , while Parson's Valentine and Hunt are being served the with the law suit.
Rachel: That explains why Marty has been muzzled….. Ellen appears to have the senior partners favor.
Ingrid: Marty brought this on all by himself… I don't feel sorry for him one bit.
Tyler: Can you say the number?… when he made you offer me $500,000 for being offended by Fallon…. That would be jump change for what April went through.
Ingrid: The three extra zero's will get their attention… I can't say much more… I'm sure it will be in the papers very soon….. that's why we will be out of sight
Rachel: Where are you going?
Ingrid: Nick is surprising me and Nikki… if it's anything like the wedding … I'm going to have to treat him extra special.
Rachel: I'm jealous… a family vacation …. That's all I ever truly wanted… a loving husband and a couple kids

Alina: This $500 million suit will be filed with New York's Supreme Court and I'm sure they will immediately try to have it thrown out on the reason of no merit….. which they will fail. The fact that the Sexual Assault Trial was unanimous in your favor gives merit and standing.
April: That's a very large sum Alina: It's intended to get their attention…. Even though Parson, Valentine and Hunt is an established firm….. they can't afford the monetary loss nor have their reputation be tarnished any more than it is. Going to court may not be their best option. Let's see how they pound their chest before they come back to settle… and settle they will.
Nick: Tim was right… your confidence is amazing.
Ingrid: I have a personal question… your background… you were a managing partner for a medium size firm for almost 7 years….. what made you decide to go on your own…. The reason I'm asking is I'm thinking of doing that myself and every bit of input will be helpful.

Nick: Will you need us in the meantime?… I promised my family a vacation
Alina: Enjoy yourselves….. I'll handle what's coming… just don't go off the grid….. if something out of the ordinary should happen.
Parsons, Valentine and Hunt are served with the law suit….. Ellen immediately informs the senior partners and Marty.
Ellen: What I suspected has happened…. Nick Laren isn't playing around.
Marty: Who in the fuck is this no name lawyer….where did she come from?
Parsons: No wonder you let this get out of hand…. Ellen give us your take Ellen: Alina Habba isn't your typical go by the book lawyer…. She will pull every trick she can think of….. she didn't become Donald Trump's go to lawyer for nothing. If we end up in court and we loose… the jury may throw out the $500 million and double it. Fallon, Reed and Ames where given the maximum allowed by the law ….. do I need to say more.
Valentine: so your saying we should settle Hunt: what's the dollar ….$10 million….$ 20 million… don't tell us more than?
Ellen: right now we're in a cat and mouse game…. Question is do we let her play with us or do we play with her?
Parsons: How much will it cost to change the narrative? That prosecutor in the case made us the bad guys….. we singled out minority women and took advantage of them… Marty you've been blowing smoke up our asses for a number of years.
Marty: Are you bastards going to make me take the fall…. I made you fuckers a ton of money.
Valentine: What have you done recently?
Hunt: How many lawyers do we employ?…. There has to be at least one that can think of a way of getting us out of this mouse trap.

Ingrid : When are we going?

3 hours 40 mins later…..The jet lands Turk Caicos Island in the souther portion of the Caribbean. Nick and Ingrid thank Beth and Alice along with the captain for a pleasant trip. Upon arriving at the villa Ingrid gives Nick a kiss for what is about to come later, but in the meantime….. she carries Nikki showing her around as they both explore what will be there home for the next seven days .
Nick: Why don't you get changed and feed Nikki , while I make us something to snack on.

Nick: I've hired a baby sitter to be at her side all the time…. So don't let your mind even go there…. This week is sun and fun….. besides she will be with us… this is a family vacation…Let me see you in that bikini.
The Laren family begins their vacation with a meal…. Nikki is getting use to her high chair and learning to also eat some baby foods…. Nick can't wait to get Ingrid alone ….. her bikini has done what it was meant to.
