The setting in the park was inevitably perfect, just like Jamie. Thick, sturdy branches, attached to the tree, braving flags of flailing green unfurled in the wind. Scents of fresh Spring mingled into the air, revitalizing aromas of grassy smells, ice cream from the trailer and the sweet, raspberry scent of Jamie's tresses. I kissed her forehead as she encircled her arm around my torso. Our fingers interlaced and I was lost in her hazel eyes which reflected specks or gold.

"Landon, can we get some ice cream?" She inquired, pouting.

"Sure." I was disappointed because I thought she was going to ask me to kiss her.

I dismantled my gentle grip on her hand and strode to the ice cream trailer queue and patiently waited. Jamie is my angel and nothing can ever change that and I plan to keep it that way. No girl can ever replace her. A wave of anger surged through me and flooded through my whole body. She's got only one more month to live and I plan to make it her best. Quivering slightly in frustration, I silently questioned God with mute words why He would punish her with the ultimate price - death when she loved Him so much. Jamie abided by His rules and lived everyday with her unwavering faith. Thoughts accumulated in my mind and tears collected at the corners of my eyes although they remained unshed. Our unbridled love is deeper than the abyss, wider than the ocean and more sincere than anything else. Reminiscing of her and her lovable sweetness caused my gaze to venture in her direction behind me. Jamie, who was sitting on the bench, caught me staring and smiled back. The Smile. The one and only gorgeous Smile that can even inspire the hardest set being to correct his/her flaws in his/her life. I'm so relieved that she is more exuberant today, which is a major improvement in her erratic health, compared to previous days. Without warning, a voice forced me back to reality.

"Sir, can I help you." Questioned the man. His brow wrinkled in an inquisitive manner. I looked up. My eyes began to attach themselves to the ancient folds of skin slightly overlapping from age on the elderly man's visage. "Um."

"Quick kid, haven't got all day."

"Just two chocolate sundaes. Thanks."

I watched as he scooped ice cream, oblivious to my surroundings and began to drift off in my own world again. But the man beat me to it.

"Here you go young man."

"Thank you." I passed the money over the counter.

Sundaes clutched in hands, I walked over to Jamie and handed her an ice cream. "Enjoy your ice cream Ms. Sullivan."

"That's Mrs. Carter to you."

"Okay, MRS Carter." I replied, accentuating the word with a wild gesture of the hand.

A giggle escaped her throat. When she stopped, her features seemed to be touched with a pensive look. Every time I glanced at her, she seemed to have an aura of serenity and tranquility shrouded around her.

"Whatcha thinking?"

"How much I love you."

"How much DO you love me?"

"You'll see tonight." A pink tinge kissed her cheeks and her eyes were downcast.

"Aww baby." I replied loving the innocence radiating through out her.

"I love you."

"I love you, and I mean that with all my mind, strength and soul, Jamie Carter. I love you more than words can say."

In response, she tilted her head onto my shoulder with her lips fused in her sundae. It's amazing how three simple words can change a person's life. Those words being I LOVE YOU.
