I pointed the possible combinations out to Minya and bought enough for two days' worth.

We ported back to the kitchen in the church. "First Minya, we make noodles, we need wheat flour for that, water, and a bit of salt. Plain salt is easy to get here, the sea is close by."

Teaching Minya how to create noodles and the different kinds of sauce that goes with them is fun, she is a very motivated student, getting a job as a cook or risking her life as an adventurer is a world apart.

I ended with: "The water you used to boil the noodles can be used tomorrow as a base for soup, it contains a lot of nutrients that would be a waste to throw out. The noodles can be dried, so they can keep longer, now let us serve your new recipe, they are drooling already."

Noodles with three kinds of sauce and small strips of a horned rabbit made a nice tasty cheap meal.

Aria commented: "It still amazes me that you can make very tasty food with cheap ingredients. Seeing it happen in front of me makes me wonder why others never thought of making food that way."

I use [Wind Magic] [Swords Techniques], [Unarmed Combat], and [Lightning Magic]."

I put a bottle of Whiskey on the counter and said: "And I like to keep my [Lightning Magic] a secret for as long as possible."

The dwarf, his name is Gamudo, opened the bottle and sniffed: "Your secret is safe with me lad, even without the bottle. What is this drink?"

I took some small glasses out of my [Inventory], poured some in the glasses, and said: "Whiskey, a drink made from wheat or other grains, it is strong though." The girls got some, just a mouthful, I took a few mouthfuls; Gamudo received a full glass.

Negotiations went smoothly after that, Elena got a hair ornament that reinforced [Recovery Magic] and a rod that amplifies [Water Magic]. Aya had her eyes on a set of short swords, but after she showed the knives she is currently using, Gamudo admitted defeat, they are of a better quality. So Aya settled for a set of armor.

After looking at the swords collection I spotted a Katana. A quick [Appraisal] showed

"So Princess Elena found her match? Is this what you want Princess Elena? You are not being forced?"

At the Temple, I left Elena with the healers with a full bag of [Candy], Aya and I selected our weapons to fight with and checked our schedule to see who and when we have to fight. Aya's first fight is against a big boobs woman with a big axe.

Her second opponent is a fully armored Noble, Lela, with a Rapier, her third match is almost certainly against a big Dragonkin, Halva.

My opponents are first a young kid equipped with knuckles, my second opponent was lucky to be able to skip the first round he is a giant… truly a giant! 2.5 yards high! He is wielding his big hammer like it was a toy. In the other bracket I spotted a Noble, in full armor, and a Dragonkin, that Dragonkin carried a cursed spear, a spear that affects the mind, so he is going to be a problem.

I said to Aya: "It looks like the Nobles don't want us to get [Body Reinforcement]. This tournament has very powerful fighters. You have to watch out for your second match, that Noble girl in full armor did not take a blunt weapon but is using her Rapier. I found out nobles are allowed to use sharp weapons. Before we entered the arena the referee explained the usual rules, don't kill, stop when your opponent is KO or gives up.

My first match was against Riche, a 15-year-old kid that uses [Martial Arts] he is level 10; I am level 20… meh, I am not a fan of pounding on weaker kids.

Rich greeted me with a bow, a polite young man, someone has taught him manners. I put my blunt sword away and faced the boy unarmed. I did a [Quick] on me when I saw he used some kind of strengthening on his body.

We sparred for ten minutes, then I began pointing him to better ways to block and counterattack, soon I was teaching him new techniques to maximize impact. Five minutes later the boy forfeits: "It is clear I am not your match. Thank you for your guidance, I learned a lot today."

"It was my pleasure to teach a talented young man like you. In a few years, everyone will know your name." The boy left with a smile on his face.

I gained some too, [Body Techniques] gained a level, and [Unarmed Combat] too. [Teaching] went up too

I chatted with Aya watching Elena heal the wounded contestants, she is doing an amazing job, by the way, a few hours with an anatomy book and some explanations, raised her level of understanding of healing, it only needs some practical experience to raise the level of her [Restoration Magic]. The [Candy] to restore her MP helped speed the process up.

My next match is against the giant… I'll use my sword with him. I would have to jump up to punch him in the face.

He started with the usual lines. Give up or you will get hurt, and that kind of shit. I just smiled, a [Quick] is all I need.

He charged with his hammer, I admit he is very fast, but a side step and a smack on his fingers let him lose his grip, I used the side of my blade, I don't need to cut his fingers; that will cause too much work for Elena.

The giant dropped his hammer and tried to grapple me, here came the lessons of my village's Master in handy, you can say what you want about Japanese Martial Arts, but you can't say that they are bad. I mopped the floor with the big guy.

No matter what he tried, he always ended up on the floor in different positions. It ended when I held him in a choke hold and he passed out. They took me seriously now.

Elena rushed to Aya to examine her, when Aya was fine she healed Luca. Soon there was not even a scar on her body. This tournament is fruitful already, Aya leveled up and her [Wind Magic] gained a level. Elena's experience in closing wounds was increasing rapidly too.

My next opponent is a guy called Macala, an acrobat… I wonder what job he has to be an acrobat, anyway, he has [Wind Magic] 1 and [Axe Techniques] 3 and is level 15.

Well, the guy is fast, very fast, but… my [Future Prediction] Rules! After a few attacks from him, I found out how my [Future Prediction] gave on where and how the attack would come. The next attack I dodged, and my counterattack took him out in one strike.

In the other blocks, the Armored Noble and the Dragonkin won their matches.

Aya came up against Lela, my [Appraisal] told me she is the daughter of Lyle Gewalt, the dude that was ordered to kill me the first day. She has [Light Magic], [Swords Techniques], and [Shield Techniques]

The only danger is from that Rapier, a stab at the wrong place, and I am forced to eradicate this country. That is my little sister, so nobody messes with her without capital punishment.

While I was observing her she called out to me: "Why is a commoner like you daring to look at a Noble Girl?"

I shrugged: "You are my sister's next opponent, it is natural that I am checking you out. By the way, the Nobles have free access to the Temple, why are you competing with the commoners?"

"The Crystal comes secondary, I want to win this competition."

"Ah, it is to prevent commoners to get [Body Reinforcement], that is the reason that Noble Rondo is competing too? Are the Nobles afraid the Commoners will get too strong?"

Aya and Lela took the stage, both glaring at each other, when the referee started the fight, Lela waited on Aya's first move. Aya closed in on her target, fully boosted with her [Wind Magic], when Aya came in range, Lela did a high-speed attack and stabbed with her Rapier.

Warned about Lela's rapier, Aya dodged just in time, pissed off, Aya started to move around Lela, stabbing her own short blunt swords into the joints of Lela's armor. Lela tried the best she could, but Aya moved too fast to follow her. A few minutes later Aya finished it with a stab in Lela's armpit. Lela went down with a scream, calling out for a healer.

Aya was soaking in the attention, the crowd started to shout her name, after her victory dance she came to me.

"Did you see Seiji? She could not do a thing to me!"

"You did great Aya, but, in a real fight you must take them out faster. For example heat up their armor so they cook in it, or use your [Air Bullets] to weak spots, one to the helmet can hurt too. Anyway, I am very proud of you. You are in the finals."

Aya's opponent for the finals should be Halva, the Dragonkin. She got wounded and exposed her blue Dragonkin blood, but in the end, she won anyway.

My next match is against a thief, Nix. A level 18 with [Short Blades Techniques]. When the match started, Nix went full out in his attacks, with [Feint] he could attack from different angles, meh, I put [Quick] on me and used the thief as a training puppet. I sharpened my [Sword Techniques] and gained [Sword Art] 3 after a fifteen-minute battle.

Nix was pissed off because he knew he was being used as a sparring partner.

Back in the waiting room, the Dragonkin sibling was having an argument. The boy Gadol was ranting at Halva: "Useless! Nobody was supposed to find out, why did I bring you with me anyway? You are better off dead, here let me do this right here and now."

Gadol took his spear and stabbed at Halva. I knew this was going to happen and deflected the stab from her heart to her side with my [Barrier]. The spear left a mean stab wound, but not a life-threatening one.

Aya was pissed off: "What is the matter with you? Are you trying to kill your own sister? Are you insane? You are supposed to take care of your sister, as a good brother you need to love and protect her!"

"Stay out of it! You are an outsider, it has nothing to do with you. She is useless anyway." Gadol left the room after that.

"Aya, he is influenced by that cursed spear in his hand. Call Elena, the wound is not that bad, lay still miss Halva, the healer is on his way."

Elena entered and examined Halva: "Lord Seiji, the wound is quite deep and bleeding hard!"

"Remember your lessons, Elena, close those arteries and use [Water Magic] to cover the wound. Use the water to connect the veins so the blood streams through it without spilling. Then use [Increase Wound Recovery] and [Stamina Recovery] to speed up the healing and keep Miss Halva from passing out from blood loss. Here take a candy before you pass out."

A few intense minutes later the wound was closed, even without a scar. Elena's water and recovery magic gained a level.

Elena bottomed out on MP and stood unsteady on her legs, I Princess carried her to the medical center, I joked: "A princess in a princess carry, my dream came through! I wished I could hold you like this all the time, but Aya's [Air Bullet] will prevent it I suppose."

Elena had her arms around my neck and pressed her head against me while blushing bright red, a voice next to me said: So you can predict the future after all. That is exactly what I would do."

"Aya, if you want me to princess carry you too just say so, I'll gladly take you in my arms."

Gadol and the Noble in full plate armor Rondo were in the other semi-final. Gadol dominated the fight and ended it with a stab in Rondo's thigh.

Elena rushed onto the stage after the referee ended the fight. Again I was prepared, when Gadol tried to kick Elena away, I [Teleported] between them, intercepted the leg, and kicked him in the balls.

"Nobody hurts my Elena and gets away with it. Try it again and I cut your leg off. Elena, heal the noble please."

We took a pause to let Gadol find his balls, twenty minutes later they announced Aya's win. Halva forfeited, she was still recuperating from the stab wound.
