Leta ran into the house screaming, "MOM!!!! WHERE ARE YOU???? ITS IMPORTANT!!!!! MOM!!"

Stopping suddenly when she saw the looks on her brother's faces. Then she saw them. The cops.

"What did you do know Soda?" she said looking accusingly at one of her older brothers. He didn't even look up to tell her off. The sight of her favorite big brother walking towards her about to cry told her something.

"Darry, what? What's wrong?" Darry was tuff. If he was upset then something was really wrong.

"Le-Le, um Mom and Dad were um, well, they-"

"Spit it out already Darry." Soda said getting mad. "Mom and Dad are dead."

"Soda, shut up. You said you wanted to tell Pony and I would tell Leta." Darry said about to lose his cool.

Leta just looked at the boys. Her twin brother, Pony, was sitting there not looking at anyone crying his eyes out. Soda was crying silently. Darry was standing beside her looking at the cops. She had forgotten they were there.

"Officer, can you please tell us what will happen to us?" Darry was the oldest, so everyone looked to him to handle things.

"Sir, we will contact you in a month for a hearing to decided what to do with the minors. We are sorry for your loss." The cop said as he walked to the door.

"Thank you, sir."

"Darry." Leta looked up at his 6'2" frame. Leta looked up to her Darry.

"Come here Le-Le. Come over here and sit down." Darry said as he walked to his armchair.

Climbing into his lap like she did when she was a child, the tears came flooding down. "How did it happen?"

"Yeah Darry. How did it happen?" Pony said, talking for the first time since she came home.

"The car stalled on the train tracks. I had told Dad to check them out." Soda said piping up. " I told him to check them out. How many times? I could have checked them."

"Stop it, Soda. Don't blame yourself. Just stop it." Leta was already upset and she didn't need Soda getting all mad at himself.

Suddenly there was a knock and the gang all came in. Two-Bit Matthews, Johnny Cade, Dallas Winston, and Steve Randall all looked a bit uncomfortable.
