Chapter 6: The Power of the Starter
Trent has already arrived at the battlefield with his Competitor standing on the opposite side of the field. After Losing the First Match of Round 2, He has to win all the remaining matches and hope that the other results will go in his favor. For now, He has to give his all in this upcoming battle.
"This will be a two-on-two double battle between Trent Fernandez of Eterna City, and James Nick of Snowpoint City. Each trainer will use two Pokémon, and the match is over when either side's Pokémon are unable to battle. If one Pokémon is knocked out, then the match will continue as a two-on-one. Are you both ready?"
Trent and James nodded, a must-win match for both of them.
"Both trainers will send out their Pokémon at the same time on my mark. This match will be held on a rock battlefield."
Both trainers grabbed their two Pokeballs from their belts, eager to begin.
The ref raised his flags, signaling the start of the match.
"Infernape, Shiftry, Standby for Battle!" Trent shouted, throwing his two Pokeballs.
The Flame and a Wicked Pokemon appeared.
On the other side, James sent out his Pokémon.
"Espeon, Slaking, let's go!"
The Sun Pokémon and the Lazy Pokémon appeared, ready for battle.
"Espeon, use Psychic to freeze Infernape, Slaking, use Flamethrower on Shiftry" James started.
Espeon's eyes glow purple and Infernape becomes outlined in purple energy. Espeon then freeze Infernape with its mind and hurt it with the super-effective move. Slaking yawns in laziness and releases a red-orange stream of fire from its mouth at the Shiftry. Shfitry tries to jump but Slaking adjusted his attack and hit the super-effective move
"Yes, We got them", James cheers in happiness, sensing early victory, "Espeon, use Confusion of Infernape, Slaking, Hammer Arm on Shfitry", he commands
"Infernape, Use Rock Slide on Both of them, Shiftry, use Sunny Day", Trent said
Espeon's eyes glow red and shoot black waves of psychic energy toward the Infernape but Shiftry came in front of him and took the attack. Being a Dark-type, it didn't affect him. Both of Slaking's arms glow white and it walked toward the target, slowly, and Infernape took advantage of that. Multiple white rings of energy then appear above and around Infernape's body and large gray boulders come out of the ripples of energy. The boulders then fall down and rain over the Espeon and Slaking creating a could of dust and smoke.
"Espeon, Slaking, watch out!" James shouted.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, Slaking came from the dust cloud, a bit wounded, and hits Shiftry with Hammer Arm. Unable to predict the attack, Shiftry took the Hammer Arm with full force and got slammed into the rock boulder behind him. He falls to the ground with black swirls in his eyes.
"Shiftry is unable to battle! This match will continue as a two-on-one!" Referee announced
"Thanks, Buddy" Trent quickly returned his fallen pokemon back to his Pokeball and continue with the battle
The dust cloud is now settled and shows Espeon who is badly hurt due to a previous Rock Slide attack
"Infernape, Use Flamethrower on Espeon", Trent Commanded
"Espeon, Protect" James Countered
Infernape releases a red-orange stream of fire from its mouth at the Espeon. The streams of fire look much stronger than Slaking used before, showing the strength of Infernape along with the addition of Sunny Day. Espeon's body becomes surrounded by light green and a green barrier of energy appears around it. But the streams of fire break through the barrier and hits the Espeon, knocking it out.
"Espion is unable to battle, this match will continue as a one-on-one!" The ref shouted.
"No way!, how can you break the Protect, Damn, how strong is that Pokemon", James shouted in horror, He never saw such a strong Infernape before.
The crowd is also stunned and shocked. Infernape is just too powerful with Sunny Day. Then, they started to cheer the Sinnoh Fire-starter
James recalled his fallen Pokemon, "Slaking use Earthquake", James said
"Jump, and use Mach-Thunder-Close Combat Combo" Trent commands his starter Pokemon
Slaking jumps into the air and strikes the ground, making the battlefield shake. Infernape jumps high in the air, to avoid the attack, then Infernape's fist glows light blue and it punches Slaking at a fast speed. Infernape, then repeatedly punches and kicks the Slaking at a fast speed, and at last, Infernape's fist is surrounded by yellow sparks, which grow into a ball of electrical energy. Infernape then punches Slaking pushing him a few feets back. The combination of super-effective assaults and Thunder Punch really dealt major damage to Slaking, who is now in visible pain and panting
The crowd is silent after watching the speed and strength of Infernape, that Pokemon is something to watch in the tournament
"Damn, we have no choice left, Slaking, use Giga Impact" Tom shouted
"End this with Overheat" Trent called
Slaking, yawns, even in pain, and tries to launch the powerful attack but thanks to the last minute of Sunny Day, Infernape's body turns red and it releases a powerful orange-yellow fire with an orange flame spiraling around it from its mouth at Slaking, who is hit by the super-strong attack and crashes to the group of rock boulders on the field. He then falls to the ground, unconscious
"Slaking is unable to battle, Infernape is the winner and the match goes to Trent Fernandez of Eterna City!" The ref announced. The crowd roared in response, excited at the final knockout.
"You are great out there!" Trent said, fist-bumping Infernape
On the other side of the field, Tom is recalling his fallen Pokemon, Both he and Trent walked to the middle of the field to shake hands.
Trent saw the large screen, which is now showing Trent's group, where he jumps to the third position from the bottom but he knows that the work is not done
