In "Raj returns to Cambridge", part of my "Life without Penny" series, Raj meets Samina and they head off to India to get married. What happens next? Part 7 - Departures and Arrivals.

The night before the wedding Leonard introduced his fiancée Alex to his old friends.

"Hello my friends, may I introduce my fiancée Dr. Alex Jensen. This is Professor Sheldon Cooper and his wife Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler, they both work at Caltech."

"Hello pleased to meet you both."

"Hello, I'm Amy, pleased to meet you, congratulations to you and Leonard."

"Good evening Dr. Jensen, I am Professor Cooper, Leonard's former room mate in Pasadena. I looked you up, you have done some very impressive science, much better than his first wife. Good luck to you and Leonard."

"This is Howard Wolowitz, another old Caltech friend, he now works for NASA at the Kennedy Space Centre."

"Pleased to meet you Dr. Wolowitz."

"Its Mr. Wolowitz, I am the one without a Ph.D. Wonderful to meet you."

"How is your mother?"

"Well she has good days and bad days, my cousin is looking after her this weekend."

"This is Dr. Raj Koothrappali, formerly of Caltech but now at Cambridge University in England."

"Hello to you, I understand you will soon become father of twins."

"That's right Alex, only two months to go so my wife isn't in a position to fly over the pond. Samina has asked me to pass on our best wishes to the two of you."

Leonard said "OK, we have now been introduced, lets eat."

Everyone had a great time at Leonard and Alex's wedding the next day. The day after Howard and Raj were at the airport preparing to fly home.

Raj was on the phone to his wife at the airport.

"Hello Samina, at the airport getting ready to go to international departures. The wedding was great fun but I am looking forward to coming home. I have someone here who wants to say hello."

"Hello Samina, this is Howard, how are you feeling."

"Hello Howard, I am feeling very big. I will be glad when the babies come, the twins keep kicking me. How is your mother."

"I will be phoning her in a few minutes, it has been great to see Raj again and to be here for the wedding but I am keen to get home."

"Pass on my best wishes, hope to see you soon, could you put Raj back on the phone."

"Will do, good luck with the babies."

"Hello Samina, OK I need to go to the international departures, I will let you know if the flight is delayed. Bye."

Raj then spoke to Howard "OK, time to go, good-bye old friend, British Airways awaits. Best wishes to your mother."

Raj then went to international departures to fly home.

Howard then got out his phone

"Hello Cousin Miriam, Leonard is a married man again, a great reunion of my old Caltech friends. How is mother?….."

One month later Samina's cousin Deeba was now a guest in the spare bedroom, Samina and Raj were in bed together.

Samina said "Have you had any more news from Howard, is his mother still in the hospital?"

"I am afraid so, Howard is getting more and more worried, it doesn't look good."

"Poor Howard, I am not sure what he would do without his mother. OK, I am going to try and get some sleep provided our babies give us some peace. Goodnight Raj."

Three hours later…..

"Wake up Raj, it is happening, it is baby time. Deeba wake up!"

Fifteen minutes later Samina, Raj and Deeba were all in Raj's car and on their way to Addenbrookes Hospital. Deeba phoned ahead and someone was waiting to take Samina into the delivery room at the hospital.

When Raj got out of the car he was on the phone to his father "Hello Daddy, at the hospital, Samina has just been taken off to the delivery room, are you ready to be a grandfather…"

12 hours later Raj was with his wife and twin new-born daughters in the ante-natal ward.

Raj held his wife's hand "we did it, by we I mean 99% you."

Samina "There they are, Rebecca Aditya and Sara Priya, our little girls. Are you happy with the names."

Raj "That's right, give them English and Indian names, let them decide which ones to use. The little one looks like my sister so she should be Sara Priya."

Then they were interrupted by a nurse. "Sorry to interrupt the family reunion but we will be keeping your wife and children in for observation overnight, we always do this for multiple births. I suggest you go home and get cleaned up Mr Sharma, come back tomorrow and take your family home…"
