Augustus: Now most of the time after the smog clears or the clouds lift, there's some shit there that you just don't want to see. Like Hiroshima, take that for example. Thousands died instantly, lucky for them, but what about all the Japs that were left that died a slow, horrible death. And they probably figured that since the cloud was lifted they were saved. They survived the initial blast so why is there a reason for them to think that they're gonna die. Smog clearing or clouds parting is not always something you want to happen. Maybe if the cloud stays you won't have to deal with the shit that follows.

"So Beecher, how long do you think your trial will last?"
"Don't know. I think Keller set this all up so no matter what I'd die. First he gives me the shank to kill Schillinger, than he, well for the most part kills himself because I told him I couldn't be with him any more, and now the DA is trying to pin conspiracy to commit murder on me and endangering the lives of others, yada, yada, yada, for the biological agent that Keller used to kill the Aryans. Like I said to Sister Pete and McManus when I got back, it's the same old story, I'm getting fucked in the ass."

"O'Riely, I have to ask. Ever since Cyril was executed, there's been a huge change in you. You're not the same will manipulative asshole you used to be. What happened to you?"
"Losing Cyril was one of, if not the absolute hardest things I've ever had to go through. But Gloria has really made me see that there are other things to go on for so I'm trying to change for her. Her and my mom are the last good things I have in my life. I'm trying to work things out with my dad with the help of Sister Pete. I'm doing what Father Meehan wanted to do before he died. Make me the man I was always supposed to be."
"Ok, wait. Gloria? As in Dr. Gloria Nathan?! You're fucking her too?! Wasn't Howell enough for you? By the way I heard she took a leave of absence to have a kid. It wasn't yours was it?"
"No the kid isn't mine, I stopped fucking her like 2 or 3 years ago. And me a Gloria, it's love. Not the twisted shit you had with Keller, it's real true love."
"After 7 years in Oz, I don't think there is such a thing."
"I didn't think there was either till I met Gloria. She's showed me that forgiveness is possible with love. She's showed me how to start forgiving my dad, even after all the shit that he did in the past, there's still time for us to be a father and son, even if it is in Oz."
"I thought I saw your optimism when I got out of here for those few months, but getting shut back in here has made that feeling just disappear. And now that I might be executed by the state, there's not much I believe in anymore."
