Chapter 15: Movie Invitations
One incredibly warm first Saturday of November 2022, I met up with my childhood friends Sarah, James, and Henri, along with some of my other best friends, Alex Russo, Justin Evans, Max Greenwald, Carly Shay, and Spencer Puckett, as well as Carly's stepdad, Freddie Benson, at Pittsburgh's Perfect Parties client Samantha Mifflin's apartment in Point Breeze. "Hi, guys!" I greeted my friends. "Hi, Angel!" Sarah greeted back. Samantha was making her invitations to her Movie Sleepover in 2 weeks. We jammed out to all different kinds of music during our work shift from our usual work playlist to Kate Bush and Lizzo to NSYNC and 98 Degrees. "I am excited because Abigail is taking her friends, as well as me and my friends, to Johnstown for a birthday sleepover for me!" Samantha happily exclaimed. "Will Hannah be at home tonight?" I asked. "No, she is currently in Rochester, New York with Madison, Casey, and Sarah Sobert, having a party with her friends," Samantha continued. "I think it is pretty cool that you are in middle school now," Sarah stated. "That was how old I was when I baby-sat Angel and Henri for the first time, playing card games and eating snacks." "On the down side, you will not get to be the kid anymore, which I really enjoyed at the time," Henri stated. "Let's not forget about the totally awesome house party I threw when I got back from my ski trip!" James happily exclaimed. "We cannot wait to plan a party for you on Monday! Welcome to your teenage years!" "What is going to be at the party?" Carly asked. "The same stuff as last month, like the caramel apple nacho bar?" "You love those treats, don't you, Carly?" Mr. Benson asked. "I remember helping her pick apples from an apple tree and then buying some caramels to go with them," Spencer added. "I bet that you are lucky to have Abigail as a big sister, Samantha," Carly stated. "Just like how I am lucky to have Sarah as my big sister." "Well, I am not technically your big sister, Carly," Sarah pointed out. "I just act like one to you and Alex." "I can't wait until we go bowling at Miracle Lanes," Alex stated. "I had to stop early last Sunday because I am not a very good bowler. I know this just from bowling at Zone 28 my senior year." "Max and I remained active at the Carnegie Library in Squirrel Hill this past week," Justin stated. "We just did not have much to do over the past week or so after celebrating the 1-year anniversary of dressing up as Aladdin characters in Market Square," Max continued. After Samantha was done making her invitations, she delivered them to her friends McKenna, Justine, Shelby, and Dora, and then, they went off with Abigail and her friends to Johnstown. We then headed off to Alex's nutrition group at the University of Pittsburgh. "I am going to help Alex cook her tilapia recipe tonight," Sarah stated. "I can help cook the couscous," Carly added. "And, I will just cook the Free Fuel vegetables of green beans and the tossed salad!" Alex happily exclaimed. Then, it was time for all of us to go home. "Thanks for a great day, everyone!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Sarah replied. "Good night, guys!" "Good night!"
