Amanda had finished her briefing with Billy and was waiting for Lee. He had a few last minute things to talk to him about. Amanda sat down at one of the empty desks and waited for Lee. She glanced over at Francine who had her arms full of files. She was heading towards Amanda.

"Good Morning Amanda. How was opening night? I heard that you and Lee were out all night?"

Amanda looked at her and raised her eyebrow. "Whatever do you mean Francine?"

Francine smirked at her. "Oh come on Amanda. You were seen heading towards Lee's car and you kissed him! You can't deny that!"

Amanda wasn't in the mood to deal with Francine. She took a deep breath and said "Francine, Lee drove me to the theater. He had to take me home. Simple as that." She was trying to avoid talking about the kiss…it was just a simple kiss on his cheek. Nothing more to it. At least not yet. Amanda thought to herself.

Francine just looked at her. She knew that Amanda wasn't going to say another word so she turned around and walked out of the bullpen. Amanda shook her head as Lee stepped out of Billy's office.

He smiled at her and took her hand. They walked out of the bullpen and the eyes staring at the couple. Lee was quiet on the elevator ride to the Q bureau. Amanda was wondering what he was thinking. Is he going to give me the speech? The one where he says we aren't involved. He hasn't given that to me in well over a year but you never know. He back pedals so much. Is it because he's scared? Oh I know I am but I don't know how much longer I can keep my feelings for him to myself. Oh Amanda…stop. You know that Lee cares about you. You promised yourself that you would let him lead this. Let him make the first move….but I sure hope it's soon!

Amanda said hello to Mrs. Marsden and Lee followed her up the stairs. As they were in the hallway Amanda asked "Will they give Tony some therapy or something before they try him?"

Lee nodded, "Yeah, Krutiov really messed up his mind."

Amanda blushed as they walked into the little office. She didn't see Lee roll his eyes and take a deep breath. She walked towards his desk and she heard him call her name.

"Amanda"

She turned around and looked at him. She may never remember what he wore but she would always remember his smile at that moment. They were finally at an impasse and it was now or never. She knew this was the moment they both had waited for.

"You know…we have a lot to talk about."

"Yeah?" She was messing with the corner of Lee's desk. She almost seemed nervous and she didn't know why. He seemed like he was as well. He gave her a look that gave her goosebumps and made her feel like a school girl talking to her first crush.

"Yeah….. We have been getting to know one another for what…."

She joined him in saying "Three years"

He took her hands in his and said "And I think…there's a lot about you that I don't know. And I'm sure going to enjoy trying to find out." She smiled at him and they both leaned towards one another.

They heard the bang of the outside door and Amanda immediately jumped back. Lee shook his head. It was like the universe had something against them and he apparently wasn't having it anymore. Amanda didn't know what to think when he made a beeline for the office door and immediately locked it. She could hear Billy on the other side calling both of their names. He looked at Amanda and said "No, not this time" and walked back over to her.

Lee took her into his arms and she put her hands on his shoulders. They both laughed and leaned in until their lips softly touched. Amanda leaned back and smiled at him and she moved closer to him again. The second kiss was everything Amanda wanted it to be and more. Amanda willingly let him kiss her with everything he had. When they finally broke apart so they could take a breath Lee took her into an embrace and nuzzled her neck. He whispered "My Amanda" and she sank into his embrace. She couldn't help herself and she started giggling. He pulled back and looked at her questioningly.

"Amanda, what's wrong?"

She looked at him with all the love she had for him. She knew at that moment they would be together forever. They were soul mates. She knew it, for sure now. No more second guessing themselves. She managed to get out. "Oh Lee…I am okay. Actually….oh it's silly. Never mind."

He leaned down and kissed her again and she surprised herself by deepening their kiss. He was surprised by her actions. She could feel him smiling. They reluctantly broke apart and Lee again asked her "Tell me honey…what's wrong?"

Amanda smiled at him and said "I just never thought this moment would really happen. That's all. We have been playing this game for a while and I just…well…I can't really describe it…."

Lee grinned at her. She knew he felt the same. Being in his arms was the best feeling in the world. "Amanda…I know what you mean. It's better than any dreams I have had...that's for sure?"

"Dreams? Are you seriously telling me that you have dreamed of this moment?" She looked utterly surprised. Lee beamed at her.

He cleared his throat and said "Well, yeah. I have. Come on Amanda" He winked at her as he smiled. "Are you going to stand there and tell me that you haven't had the same dreams?"

She wrapped her arms around him and leaned close to his ear. "Well, you do remember that I had fantasies about secret agents….who do you think I was dreaming about?"

He laughed and pulled her into another embrace. He nuzzled her neck and showered her face with little kisses until he found her lips. He kissed her with everything he had and she did the same. Amanda's brain was spinning. She could barely stand up.

When Lee broke the kiss he leaned his forehead against hers and sighed. "Well, Mrs. King, I think we have a lot to talk about tonight at dinner. Don't you?"

She nodded. "I agree. So what do you say we get these reports finished and then get out of here!"

He kissed her once more and said "You bet. Let's get to work! I don't want to keep my partner waiting!"

Lee let go of her and she went over to his desk. She sat down and started typing his report. He never left her side for the rest of the day. Before they left at the end of the day Lee pulled her once again into his arms and kissed her passionately. He whispered into her ear "I will see you at seven…okay? And since your mother and the boys aren't going to be home…I am coming to the front door. This shall be a proper date." She smiled at him and nodded. "Okay then Mr. Stetson. I shall see you at seven. "He kissed her once again and they headed out to their cars.

Amanda rushed into the house and went right up the stairs. She stopped at the boys room and said hello. They were heading to their dad's for the weekend. They said they were all packed and ready to go. Her mother was going out with some ladies in her Garden club.

She took a quick shower and afterwards she was rummaging in her closet. She saw her mother standing in the doorway of her bedroom.

"Darling, what in the world is going on?"

Amanda stuck her head out of the closet "Oh hello Mother. I have a premier to go to tonight for work and there is one particular dress I need….well I wanted to wear. It's the black velvet one with the pearl buttons down the back?"

Dotty laughed "Oh sweetheart, that one is in my closet. I took it to the cleaners with a few of mine. I'll go get it for you."

Amanda stood outside of the closet and sighed "Oh thank you Mother! I really wanted to wear that one! I have to get ready. Are the boys all ready for Joe? He should be here any minute to get them."

Dotty walked down to her room and collected the black dress for her daughter. Amanda knew that her mother was going to drill her about the premier. She probably thinks it's a date. I know that it is…but I am just not ready to share Lee yet…with anyone. Dotty handed Amanda the dress. Amanda braced herself for the barrage of questions regarding her night when the doorbell rang.

"I'll get it. That must be Joe. You finish getting ready dear and then you can tell me all about the premier you are going to." Dotty didn't see Amanda roll her eyes and make a face.

After Dotty ushered off the boys to their dad she brought the bouquet of flowers upstairs. Amanda was in her dress and was fixing her hair.

"Amanda, these came for you. Why do I have a feeling that this isn't just a premier you are going to? Could this be a first date?" Her mother was smiling at her. Amanda sighed and said "Mother, it's a date. Mr. Stedman asked me to go with him. That's it. Its nothing else."

Dotty raised her eyebrow and said "Well, that's not what the card says. Sorry…I peeked." She shrugged her shoulders and added "I am sorry. I couldn't help it." She read the car out loud for Amanda to hear it. Amanda's heart soared as she heard her mother read Lee's words on the card.

" A -Looking forward to opening night. We'll take it from there. -L" Her mother handed the flowers and card over to Amanda and smiled. "This must be some date?"

Amanda took the flowers and placed them on her bedside table. She read the words again and smiled. She looked at her mother and smiled. "Mother, I am not going to lie to you. I hope that its the start of something but I just don't know yet. So can we just not talk about it? Now I have to finish getting ready. Don't you have to get going yourself? Dotty looked at her watch. "Oh! You are right! Edna will be here any minute." She walked over to Amanda and gave her a hug. "Have a wonderful night my darling girl. You look absolutely beautiful! I won't wait up for you! You have fun!" Dotty disappeared and Amanda could hear her shutting the front door behind her.

Amanda finished fixing her hair. She looked over at the bouquet of roses and smiled. She took one of them and added it to one side of her head. She used one of her pearl combs to hold it in place. There. That way Lee knows that I love the flowers he sent me. Amanda blushed and thought of their kisses in the Q bureau. She knew that things were finally changing between them and she was ready. She took a deep breath and checked herself in the mirror once more. She nodded to herself and went downstairs. She found her wrap and changed her purse to a little clutch one and waited.

She didn't have to wait long. The doorbell rang and Amanda took a deep breath. She opened the door and there was Lee Stetson. He stood there and stared at her. She smiled at him and said "Like something you see, Stetson?"

Lee was running his hands through his hair. She giggled as he tried to form words. She opened the door for him to come in. He beamed at her and took her in his arms. He kissed her with everything he had and she returned the kiss.

"Wow. If I had known you'd kiss me like that I would have worn this dress a lot sooner!" She said as she tried to catch her breath. He nuzzled her neck and whispered "My Amanda…you wore the dress. For me?"

Amanda nodded. "I sure did. You said you liked it so I figured it was a good choice."

Lee kissed her again and when they broke apart. "I think I can safely say that its my favorite." he kissed her again. "Are you ready to go?"

Amanda nodded and Lee helped her with her wrap. They walked out to the car holding hands. Before Lee helped her in the Vette he gave her a sweet kiss. Amanda got settled in the seat and took a deep breath. As Lee got in the car he took her hand and kissed it. She smiled at him and they both knew that their future was going to be something special.
