"Shut the fuck up", Agent Jones growled, and worriedly looked over to Mayhem who was lying in Nightbird's arms. That scene deeply moved her; she just couldn't help but think about how she held her dying fiancé in her arms all those years ago.

With a sigh, she walked over to the duo. "I can't believe I'm about to offer that", she muttered to herself before she cleared her throat.

Blaine turned to her. "I think I can help Mayhem", she said reluctantly.

"What…what do you mean?" The hope in the hero's eyes made her cringe a little.

"I mean, I cannot save his life entirely, but I can make sure to delay his death, give you more time to find a way to save him", she started explaining. "It's a little risky, but there's a chance he will survive."

"And how?", Blaine wanted to know.

"I'm going to deep freeze him", she explained. "This way, I can close the wound and press the pause button in his body, so to say. The process of his death will only slow down because it won't heal his injuries. And he will be in some kind of coma."

That was out of question. She couldn't be ser-

"Do it", Kurt said faintly. "If that's the only way to buy us time, do it."

Blaine wasn't happy about that. "But…"

"We don't really have any other choice, do we? Agent Jones, do it, okay?"

Protesting was pointless, Blaine knew that. When they had been kids, Kurt was just as stubborn. There was no way he could change his mind about that.

Mercedes nodded. "Alright. I will call the reinforcements; we will bring you back to our headquarters in New York where we will monitor your vitals. Nightbird, step back."

With a heavy heart, Blaine let go of Kurt and stepped to the side to let her do whatever was necessary to save the person he loved. No, he was not going to cry again. He needed to be strong. For Kurt.

Kurt squeezed his hand shortly. "I will do my best to stay alive", he said with a slight smirk.

Blaine just nodded numbly. He refused to look when Mercedes did her thing. He still refused to look when Agent Jones' reinforcements arrived with their jet to bring Kurt's deep-frozen body back to New York to be able to keep his body temperature below freezing. Blaine was allowed to come with them. They were so preoccupied with saving Kurt's life that nobody noticed how Nameless got away. After they had fetched Blaine's stuff from his motel, they were off to the city that never slept.

Agent Jones walked him back to his apartment.

"Don't worry too much about Mayhem", she told him when they were at his front door. "I'm sure he will be fine. He won't die that fast, we will make sure of that."

"Thanks", Blaine said faintly.

She patted his shoulder shortly. "Get some sleep. For now, there is nothing you can do. We will contact you immediately if his condition changes."

Blaine nodded. "Alright."

The female agent turned on her heel and went down the hallway to the stairs. Blaine reached for his keys and unlocked his apartment. With a sigh, he slumped down on his bed. There was no way he would get some sleep now.

"I totally get that."

Startled, Blaine lifted his head. He almost would have fallen out of it because none other than Kurt was sitting on the armchair next to him. For some reason, his clothes were all white. How was he able to dress up that fast?

"K…Kurt?"

He shook his head. "Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not Kurt."

Oh.

"If you are not Kurt, who are you, then?" This was so confusing.

"I'm Bravery. And no, I'm not really here. You only think I'm here."

"Uh…what?" Maybe, his lack of sleep already got to him.

Ku- Bravery threw gave him a look of commiseration. "I guess you already know of the deadly sins, the virtues, and their embodiments?"

Blaine nodded slowly.

"Then you also must know that you, me, and Wrath are connected to each other. That's why we are able to communicate, even though Kurt isn't here in person. Wherever he may be, you will always carry a part of him with you, and vice versa."

Hearing this was oddly consoling. Blaine cleared his throat to distract himself.

"I'm here because I know how to save Kurt."

That caught Blaine's attention again. "What did you just say?"

The Kurt-double got up and went to the window. "I know how to save Kurt and therefore the trio of balance. But it's not going to be easy."

"Tell me." It almost sounded like a demand. But to be completely honest, there was nothing Blaine wouldn't do to save Kurt's life.

"We need to take away Wrath's powers, once and for all. Only that way, we can assure he won't be able anymore to disturb our balance."

Blaine scratched his head in distress. He had no idea that taking Nameless's powers was an option. "And how are we supposed to do that?"

Bravery glanced over to his calendar on his nightstand. "Do you know what's going to be tonight?"

He had absolutely no idea what that Kurt lookalike was trying to tell him, so he shook his head.

"A full moon."

"So?"

"That's our opportunity to end this, once and for all. In order to take away Wrath's powers for good, the two forces of virtue need to touch him. At the same time when the moon rises."

Did he just hear that right? Blaine cocked his eyebrows in disbelief. "That's all? Kurt and I need to touch him at the same time?"

Bravery nodded. "Exactly. But our time slot is small, so we need the perfect timing."

"You seem to forget that Kurt is in some kind of coma, right?"

With a sigh, Bravery slumped down next to him. "I know. But you need to trust me with that. I talked to Kurt, and we have a plan."

"Which is?"

Blaine leaned back on his bed and listened to what Bravery had to tell him.

Mr Nameless kissed his girlfriend on her right hand. "And you are sure that's where they are hiding Mayhem?"

Brittany nodded innocently. "My sources are never wrong, you know that, baby."

"When you're right, you're right." Nameless smirked at the blonde and turned to one of his minions. "Branson, prepare the jet, we are going to head to the FBI's HQ in New York. I will end what I have started."

This was going to be so great. Once he had eliminated Mayhem, once and for all, nothing would stop him.

After he had rushed away, Brittany retrieved her phone, typed something in, and sent the text.

-He took the bait. Good luck.

It didn't take him that long to arrive in New York. Nameless had his people everywhere, so finding out where those FBI rats had their top-secret HQ and where they had hidden Mayhem's body was a no brainer.

On his way, Nameless knocked out six FBI agents, he might or might not have killed two of them. Oops.

The deep freeze cabinet was in the basement. The villain needed to shudder because of the colder temperatures down there. What sick shit did those weirdoes do to that Mayhem kid? Why did they turn him into an icicle? Were they trying to save his life? He shook his head. Whatever, Mayhem was going to die anyway. It didn't matter anymore.

Just when he was about to rush to the cabinet where they had stored Mayhem's deep-frozen body, someone came over to him, clapping.

"Congrats, Nameless", said Blaine aka Nightbird aka Courage. "You just fell into our trap."

Mr Nameless threw him an utterly confused glance, much to Blaine's satisfaction. Was it Blaine's idea to call Brittany so that she gave Nameless the fake clue? Oh yes, it was, though it didn't sit right with him to get poor Brittany involved in all that. If Nameless' people found out that she had betrayed their leader, she would be dead meat. Once this was all over, Blaine was going to make sure that the blonde got into the best protection program the FBI had to offer.

"Did you really think I would allow that you kill him?" Blaine laughed shortly.

"I have to admit that I acted on impulse. But I still don't regret that I came here", Nameless answered calmly. "If I can't kill Mayhem, you're going to be the one who needs to go. Either way, one of you will die tonight."

Blaine glanced out of the window. Even though it had gotten dark outside, the moon hadn't passed them yet. He and Bravery had calculated the exact time the moon would pass their building. He needed to keep Nameless busy for eight minutes and thirty-seven seconds. Awesome.

"How about that" Blaine lifted his hands and balled them to fists. "None of us will die tonight, but you will go to jail."

Nameless shook his head. "Nah. Doesn't sound that appealing to me, to be completely honest."

He wanted to punch Blaine, but the hero was quick enough to dodge the blow. Frustrated, Nameless retrieved his gun and aimed at the glass cabinet where Kurt was. In high speed, Blaine sped over to him and disarmed him. With one fluid motion, he unloaded the handgun and turned the ammunition into dust with his super strength. "I hate guns", he shrugged when Nameless glowered at him, seething.

"Son of a bitch", the villain hissed. "You are slowly turning into a nuisance."

"Why do you want to kill me or Mayhem anyway?", Blaine asked, genuinely interested. "You are aware that if one of us dies due to murder, our balance will cease to exist, and the world will end. How can you rule the world if we are all dead? I mean, I don't believe that there is an afterlife, and even if there was, you would surely not make it to heaven."

Nameless looked like he wanted to strangle him right now. If he tried, Blaine would be able to stop him faster than he could blink. Sometimes, having super strength was pretty awesome.

"Would you please shut up?" Nameless pinched the bridge of his nose. "Besides, do you really think I care about little things such as consequences? I'm Wrath, I'm a freaking natural force. I doubt that anything on this planet could kill me, not even if everyone else would die."

Blaine clenched his hands again to control his anger. "You are such a monster. You only care about yourself, not about the innocent lives you might take."

The older man just waved it off. "Yes, there will be collateral damages on the way to the top, but whose god doesn't have those? The power I will get is worth those sacrifices."

He just couldn't believe what he had heard. "You are calling a global disaster collateral damage?", Blaine asked incredulously. "I really don't know what to answer to that, but you disgust me."

Much to his surprise, Nameless started laughing. "And what are you going to do about it? You know damn well that you cannot kill me since you are the hero and everything. And you also know that if you defeat me now, I will come back one day. I will always come back, and no one can stop me."

This time, it was Blaine who was laughing.

"What's so funny about that, kid?!", Nameless snarled.

"Let's see about that. Mayhem, now!"

Nameless barely had enough time to duck down before Mayhem behind him could get a hold on him. His dark eyes widened in surprise. "But…how…?"

"Well, old man, I'm full of surprises." Mayhem smiled at him brightly. "Did you already miss me?"

"How aren't you an ice sculpture now?! I could have sworn…" Nameless quickly turned around. The cabinet was indeed empty.

Mayhem laughed shortly instead of answering his question. He looked over to Blaine. "Let's neutralize this son of a bitch, shall we?"

"Neutralize? Wait, hold up…" The villain looked back and forth between the hero and antihero when realization hit him. "You want to steal my powers, don't you? That's why you said this was a trap! Oh, you little pieces of-" Before they knew it, he had lunged at Mayhem to strangle him.

And was surprised when his hands went right through Mayhem's body, almost as if he was-

Meanwhile, Mayhem wiggled his eyebrows amusedly. "You are such an idiot, Nameless. If you were smart, you would know that the real Mayhem rarely curses. I'm merely a figment of his imagination, a version he wished he could have been. But we all know that he never had it in him. There is this pureness in him that will never go away."

Mr Nameless blinked. "But…if you aren't Mayhem…and the class cabinet is empty…where…?"

At this very moment, someone behind him touched his shoulder. "Right behind you, Nameless."

The older man turned around quickly. Kurt's right hand was on his shoulder, he held his side with his left one. He was drenching and deathly pale.

"It's over, Wrath." He felt another hand on his shoulder. Nightbird.

Mr Nameless paled instantly.

Just when they had touched the older man, a weird sensation suddenly cursed through Blaine. He looked over to Kurt and noticed that he looked a lot better now. His lips didn't look like bloodless lines any longer, his skincolor looked a lot healthier than one minute ago. Also, the injury on his torso had healed completely. Blaine sighed relievedly. Thank god. But still, he wondered...

Confused, Blaine turned to the Mayhem-illusion next to them. "How is that possible?"

"When you just neutralized Wrath, you also nullified what he had done to Kurt. Since he is only a neutral member of the trio of Balance now, he isn't able to take either of your lives any longer."

Nameless had sunk to his knees and stared at them incredulously.

"Why didn't you send Bravery to help us?", Blaine asked with interest.

Mayhem shrugged. "We all figured that Bravery wouldn't be able to trick Wrath, that guy is way too angelic for that. My humble self, on the other hand…" He smirked, a smug expression on his face.

"I'm still confused, though. How are you here now?"

"You already know that the three of us are in some way connected to each other", Kurt started explaining slowly. "Bravery used that connection to communicate with you, as he told me. But somehow, my imagination of the supervillain I once wanted to be managed to use that connection too. Thank God he could, or else, I wouldn't be here now."

Blaine blinked at Mayhem. "You're…not really here? Like Bravery? That means only Kurt, Nameless, and I are able to see you?"

"That's correct, Nightbird. And now that Kurt woke up again, my services won't be needed any longer. I will just leave, return to his subconsciousness or wherever I came from." He waved shortly at them.

"Mayhem…thanks", Kurt said quickly.

He just smirked slightly before he started fading away, until he was completely gone.

Kurt and Blaine turned to the powerless supervillain that looked up to them, defeated.

"Are you looking forward to your new home, a high-security cell in prison?", Blaine asked him mock-friendly. He just couldn't help the lopsided grin that spread across his face.

"Don't worry, I'm sure you can share a room with my ex Poison Dart", Kurt tried to console him. "Sometimes, he can be great company. Well, as long as you let him win at all those card games. I learned it the hard way."

At that moment, a bunch of FBI agents stormed down the stairs and right to Nameless to arrest him.

"Good job, guys." Agent Jones walked over to the duo. "When Nightbird told me to not get involved, I almost wouldn't have listened to him. But it was a good decision to trust you." Apart from defreezing Kurt behind Nameless' back, she had indeed kept out of their conflict.

"Aw, I feel flattered, Mercedes. Pardon, Agent Jones." Kurt winked at her naughtily.

She rolled her eyes in annoyance. "Alright, I will just pretend I didn't hear that, only because you did a good job today."

Mr Nameless went to a high security prison outside of New York where he would stay for a long, long time, as they just read in the news. Just when they had neutralized him and Kurt's injury had vanished in thin air, the rainstorm had stopped as abruptly as it had come. The world was balanced again, and Blaine did not only mean the natural balance.

Currently, the hero had curled up on his sofa with a cup of coffee in front of him. Outside, it was getting colder and got darker earlier. Soon, they were going to celebrate Christmas. Even though he had made up with Cooper, Blaine wondered whether he would be comfortable to be in the same room with him for two days. Especially because he planned on bringing his boyfriend along.

Yes, you just got that right. Kurt was officially his boyfriend. His boyfriend that was in his arms right now. Life was going great at the moment.

"I will get counselling", Kurt suddenly said.

Blaine looked up, surprised. "Really?"

"Yes. Things cannot go on like that any longer. I need to talk about everything that had happened to me, get everything off my chest, and get professional help. Back then, I used my Mayhem persona to let off steam, but hurting or inconveniencing people is no option for me anymore. I'm not the villain I used to be. That's why I called that rewarded therapist everyone is talking about. My first appointment is next week."

"But that's great, Kurt!" He was so proud of him. Blaine knew exactly that Kurt hated asking for help.

"Since we are talking about bettering ourselves…Tina and the other people from work want to go out after work sometimes. When they asked me, I said yes."

Kurt beamed at him. "You are getting friends that aren't me? Awesome, I'm so happy for you!"

When he said that, Blaine elbowed him teasingly. It was true that he had neglected potential friends just to be able to be a superhero almost twenty-four seven. Now, it was time to be himself again. He would always stay Nightbird, but he also needed to be Blaine Anderson. He could at least try to live the life of an ordinary young man.

He leaned against Kurt's chest and sighed happily. "What do I need friends for if I have you? You are everything I need. And I'm so glad to have you back."

Kurt softly caressed his dark curls. "I'm sorry I broke my promise."

Confused, Blaine looked up to him. "What are you talking about?"

"Back in the motel room, I promised you to never leave you again. But when Nameless stabbed me, I…" Kurt gulped. "I almost didn't make it."

"But that was by no means your fault, right? Look, everything is fine now, Nameless got what he deserved. Why should I be mad at you for something you had no control over?" He straightened up, cupped Kurt's chin softly and looked him in the eyes directly. "I'm still deeply in love with you, and that won't change that soon. We've spent way too much time apart and we were hurting, but that's over. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I will never leave your side again."

Kurt kissed his forehead, he had tears in his eyes. "You're so cute, Nightbird. I love you too, but I'm sure you already knew that. Don't worry, you are not going to get rid of me anytime soon. I will go nowhere."

No more words needed to be said after that, the love in their eyes already spoke volumes. They cuddled up against each other, just enjoying each other's company in silence. All Blaine could think was that they were without a doubt meant for each other, not only because they were two natural forces that needed to keep the world balanced. Kurt was his soulmate and his best friend all in one, the one that made him a better person.

It was true that they both had issues they needed to work through, but they would make it work somehow. On their own, their lives had been miserable, but as long as they were together, there was no stopping them.
