**It's a rare day off.**

Kate opens her eyes to see the sunlight slowly peeking into the room. Knowing neither one of them are on call, she rolls over and scoops Lucy up into her arms, sighing contentedly.

"Mmmm….I love the smell of your shampoo."

Kate grins.

"Good morning. Did you sleep well?"

Lucy stretches and nods.

"Yes, I did. Did you?"

Kate nods.

"Awesome! Hey, I can have breakfast ready in three shakes of a lambs tail if you're hungry."

"Oh, I am hungry, but not for food…"

"You're hungry but you don't want foo…oh, I get it."

Kate chuckles at Lucy's realization. She leans over, kissing Lucy everywhere she can.

After feeding their souls with each other, they drift off to sleep again.

Lucy wakes up first and slips out to get reinforcements for her and her love.

"Lucy?"

Lucy struts in wearing a chef's apron while carrying a tray of food. Kate gulps as she realizes Lucy's only wearing the apron and nothing else.

"Oh, wow."

Lucy smiles slyly.

"You like?"

"Definitely."

Kate resists the urge to pounce as there's hot coffee on the tray.

"Down, girl. We both need to refuel."

Kate begins to protest when her stomach growls, betraying her.

"I guess you're right."

Lucy giggles and hands Kate a cup of coffee.

"So, what's on the agenda today? As much as we want to, we cannot stay in bed all day, this time. We have to do something semi productive."

Lucy groans.

"Why? Staying in bed with you can be very productive…."

Wiggling her eyebrows, Kate chuckles.

"I'm very well aware. We need to get some fresh air. Maybe go for a walk on the beach?"

"No thank you. I may be slightly over my fear of the huge abyss, but I still don't want to spend time with it."

Kate rolls her eyes.

"Fine. A hike?"

"Fine, we can go for a hike."

Kate leans over and kisses Lucy's cheek.

"I'll make it worth your while, okay?"

She perks up.

"Okay. Um, how? Wait. Where are you going?"

"I'm going to get ready, and I suggest you do the same."

Lucy hurries to get changed and meets Kate by the door, who's double checking her backpack.

"Okay, I have plenty of water, some snacks, an emergency blanket, ponchos, a flashlight, and a phone charger, just in case."

"Just how far off the beaten track are we going? Sure we don't need some flares, maybe some bear spray?"

Kate glares are her.

"You can never be too safe."

"You were a girl scout, weren't you."

She blushes.

"I made Ambassador. I earned the Gold Award, which is the equivalent to Eagle Scout in Boy Scouts."

"Of course you did. I bet you looked adorable in your uniform, too."

"I certainly did."

They both laugh.

"Ready to go?"

"Yup. Lead the way, Ms. Ambassador."

She smirks.

"Smart ass."

After hiking for a while, the ladies return to their apartment and after a quick rinse off in the shower, they climb into the hot tub on the balcony.

"Mmmm…this is nice."

Kate smiles.

"Yes, it is. This, and the view, are the main reasons I chose this apartment. And I'll tell you something, the view gets better every day."

Lucy looks over at Kate and realizes she's talking about her and blushes.

"Hey, I didn't tell you the weird dream I had. Well, maybe not weird, but definitely odd. Well, maybe not odd, just, um, strange?"

"Alrighty, then. Do tell."

"Well, I had a dream we were in Vegas getting married by Elvis."

Kate's expressionless.

"And then we flew to Alaska to go dog sledding where we met up with some babies, which I'm guessing were our babies. Apparently we had twins? Yeah, so anyway, you and I bundled them up so they wouldn't freeze while on the dog sleds. We ended up at an igloo like you see in cartoons and stayed the night and ate soup. That's all I remember."

Kate's still expressionless.

"See, told you it was weird."

Kate takes her hand.

"It's not that weird except, why would we go to Vegas to get married by Elvis when we're in Hawai'i? Aren't there a ton of impersonators here?"

Now Lucy's expressionless.

"That's all you got out of that is we didn't have to go to Vegas to get married by Elvis?"

Kate nods.

"So you want to get married by Elvis."

She smirks.

"Absolutely not. I was just trying to make something logical out of your dream."

"But what about the babies? You didn't even bat an eye."

"I know we talked about kids. We never officially said no to having them."

Lucy sinks into the hot tub, letting the bubbles wash over her. She then slides even closer to Kate than she was.

"You, my love, make me so happy. You know that?"

She kisses her cheek and nuzzles her.

"You just say that because I understand the way you think."

They both laugh.

"True, but is that a good thing or a bad thing?"

"The jury's still out on that."
