After school, Batman, Poison Ivy, and Harley Quinn went into Professor Crane's classroom and started cleaning it up. None of them were excited for this job, because they couldn't stand Crane. Batman had a little bit of interest in inspecting Crane's classroom, because he wanted to search the room and find evidence of Crane's crimes. However, he figured he wouldn't find much, because if Crane had any dark secrets, Batman figured he'd hide them. He noticed that Man-Bat wasn't in the room. He hoped that Man-Bat was with Professor Crane, in the teachers' lounge.

Batman had been surprised that Poison Ivy had stood up for him. While he and Ivy started sweeping the room, Batman looked at her and said, "Thank you for trying to defend me. That was cool of you."

Poison Ivy replied, "No problem. Scarecrow's a major nuisance, so he earned that punch."

Harley Quinn fiddled with Crane's science equipment, while nudging Ivy, and saying, "Come on, you sneaky little liar. Tell Batman the real reason you stood up for him."

Poison Ivy sighed and replied, "Batman, you're one my friends. That's why I stood up for you."

Batman was pleasantly surprised to hear that. He smiled and said, "I'm glad to hear that. I haven't had that many friends before going here and so far, I seem to be annoying a lot of people. You guys are probably my only friends here, although I'd like to know Talia better."

Harley had an amused look on her face, while saying, "Wow, you're quite the lady's man, aren't you?"

Batman looked embarrassed, while replying, "I wouldn't really say that."

Harley responded, "But all of your friends are girls."

Batman calmly said, "That's just a coincidence. I might get some male friends, as time goes on."

Harley smirked and replied, "Yeah right, you playboy. You just want to hang out with a bunch of pretty ladies."

Poison Ivy responded, "Harley, go easy on him. It's not his fault that he's Arkham Asylum's only normal male-student."

Batman searched Crane's cabinets, but most of the papers had been taken out. He was a little frustrated, because it seemed like Crane was keeping him from finding anything. Batman said, "I wouldn't say I'm a normal student. After all, I dress like a bat and still think I can be a serious detective."

Harley replied, "Yeah, you're a weirdo."

Poison Ivy angrily responded, "Harley, be nice."

Harley pretended to start sweeping, while saying, "Sheesh Ivy, you're not letting me get away with anything."

Talia walked into the room. She clearly had no interest in Ivy and Harley, as she pushed them out of her way, and walked up to her beloved Batman. She smiled and said, "Hi, Batman."

Batman smiled back and replied, "Hi, Talia. It's good to see you again. What are you doing here?"

Talia said, "I wanted to see if you wanted to go get ice-cream."

Batman replied, "I'm sorry, but I have to clean Professor Crane's classroom. It's not something I want to do, but I've been forced to do it."

Talia sighed and responded, "I see. I was expecting more boldness and determination from you, maybe even some stubbornness. If you'll excuse me, I've purposely been keeping my ride waiting for me. I better get going."

Batman ran up to Talia, with a concerned look on her face, and said, "Be careful, while walking out of the school. Man-Bat's really dangerous and I'm not sure where he is."

Talia confidently replied, "I'm going to be okay. I'll see you tomorrow, Batman." She stepped out of the classroom and started walking around the hallways. While taking some selfies, Man-Bat came after her.

A few minutes later, Batman, Ivy, and Harley heard Man-Bat making creature noises. They ran into the hallway, but Man-Bat had disappeared. Batman checked up on Talia. She had fallen down, but she didn't get any scratches. Despite that, she kept whining and she claimed to be in a lot of pain. Ivy and Harley could tell that Talia wasn't in any real pain, but Batman gently helped her get into her limo-ride home.

Batman went back inside. Poison Ivy asked, "Is Talia okay?"

Batman had a serious look on his face, while saying, "She's going to be fine, but you and Harley need two go."

Poison Ivy replied, "You need to go too. With Man-Bat on the loose, it's too dangerous to be in the school."

Batman responded, "I'm going to stop my fellow bat, before he hurts anybody else."

Poison Ivy nervously said, "You can't do that."

Batman replied, "It's what has to be done. I'm sorry, but I don't have time to argue."

Harley started pulling on Ivy, while saying, "Come on, Ivy. We gotta get going."

Poison Ivy glanced at Batman and said, "Please reconsider." Batman shook his head. Ivy sighed and she and Harley walked out of the school.

Batman walked around the hallways, while examining the area. He heard that Man-Bat listened to Professor Crane's commands, so he was hoping that it would listen to him. He loudly said, "Man-Bat, come out here! Professor Crane's a creepy, messed-up person, who's controlling you. I'm not sure how much of what I'm saying is understood by you, but if you give me some time, perhaps I can make an antidote. It would make you less human and more like a bat. I know that's not the most glamorous offer, but I think it's what best for you."

Man-Bat flew out of the shadows. It stood near Batman. Batman noticed it wasn't moving, at first. However, Man-Bat stretched out his wings and smacked Batman across the hallway. Batman tried to punch back, but Man-Bat threw him on the floor.

Batman tried to get up, but Man-Bat wouldn't let him. Man-Bat stuck his hand out and started reaching for Batman's cowl. Batman wondered why it would be interested in finding out his secret identity, until realizing what was really going on. Batman used his willpower, to kick Man-Bat away from him. Batman started running away, but Man-Bat chased after him.

Batman opened up his locker and went inside of it. Man-Bat looked around the hallway and tried to find Batman. He figured Batman was in one of the lockers, so it started ripping up the lockers. After tearing apart a dozen lockers, he found Batman. Batman punched him in the face and tried to run away, but Man-Bat grabbed him by the cape. Batman could have escaped by taking his mask off, but he wasn't willing to do that. Instead, he ripped part of his cape off, which distracted Man-Bat while he ran into Professor Crane's classroom.

Professor Crane had a grumpy look on his face, while saying, "You and your friends didn't finish cleaning my classroom."

Batman sternly replied, "There's more important things to deal with. Your precious pet is out of control and has been trying to hurt me."

Professor Crane had an evil smile on his face, while asking, "Did he scare me?"

Batman answered, "No, he just caused me a lot of trouble. Go take care of it."

Professor Crane angrily replied, "Very well then." He stepped into the hallway and made Man-Bat return to his cage.

Batman looked at Crane and asked, "Are you going to apologize?"

Professor Crane asked, "Why would I do that?"

Batman answered, "For setting Man-Bat loose and putting your students in danger."

Professor Crane replied, "Man-Bat's must of blown open, because I left the window open. The wind rises, so it must of blown his cage open. Besides, I think danger is exciting."

Batman angrily responded, "It won't be exciting for you, after I tell Commissioner Loeb about this."

Professor Crane had an amused look on his face, while asking, "Do you think that jerk cares about justice? Besides, I could easily blame you for what happened. After all, you share Man-Bat's species and Man-Bat started going crazy shortly after you joined the school. I could easily have you sent to a real asylum, so I suggest staying out of may."

Batman resisted punching anything, while saying, "Very well then. Good-day, Professor Crane."

Professor Crane evilly grinned and replied, "Have a terrifying evening." He did an evil laugh, while Batman walked out.

The next morning, Batman returned to Arkham Asylum. He wasn't thrilled to be going back to the school, since a creature tried to attack him the previous day.

Batman walked by Poison Ivy's locker and said, "Hi Ivy."

Poison Ivy hugged him. Batman had a surprised look on his face, while Ivy said, "I was really worried about you. Did Man-Bat hurt you? Are you going to be okay?"

Batman calmly replied, "I'm going to be fine. Man-Bat came after me, but Scarecrow got him to stop."

Poison Ivy said, "So, Scarecrow's the mastermind behind the Man-Bat antics?"

Batman replied, "He's a figurehead."

Poison Ivy looked confused, while asking, "What do you mean?"

Before Batman got a chance to explain, Harley Quinn pranced by and asked, "What's up, Batsy?"

Batman replied, "Everything's cool."

Harley responded, "That's good. Ivy kept going on and on, about how worried she was about you. She really cares about you. To be honest-"

Before Harley got a chance to finish talking, Ivy covered up her mouth and said, "Ignore her. She's great at making stuff up."

Batman replied, "It's okay and I appreciate the concern."

Poison Ivy tried to hide her shyness, by changing the topic. She said, "So, now that Man-Bat's been put back in his cage and Penguin and Catwoman have gotten to return, is everything going to be okay?"

Batman had a serious look on his face, while saying, "Mostly. You and Harley better get to class. I have an important visit to make."

A few minutes later, Professor Hugo Strange was reading request-forms, from people who wanted to join the school. As usual, he was planning on only accepting the most peculiar and fascinating of students.

Ra's al Ghul stepped into Hugo Strange's office and said, "I thought I should tell you about the update on Talia."

Hugo asked, "Is she going to be okay?"

Ra's al Ghul answered, "Frankly, she seems perfectly fine, but she insists she needs time to recover. She'll probably be back in a week or so."

Hugo replied, "That's good to hear. I hope she learns a lot."

Ra's al Ghul said, "By the way, is the Batman nearby? He has captured my daughter's interest and I also he's a fascinating figure."

Hugo replied, "He's probably in class."

Ra's al Ghul looked disappointed, while saying, "I see. I have an appointment in Crime Alley, but I plan on confronting Batman."

Hugo asked, "Confronting?"

Ra's al Ghul tried to hide a grin, while saying, "Excuse my choice of words."

Hugo calmly replied, "No problem, Mr. Ghul. Sooner or later, you and Batman will meet."

Batman stepped inside of the office and said, "Greetings, Principal Strange."

Hugo Strange replied, "Mr. Batman, you should be getting to class."

Batman sternly responded, "There's a more important matter, than attending class."

Hugo replied, "You've captivated my interest. What's on your mind?"

Batman said, "Yesterday, I dealt with Man-Bat."

Hugo started putting away some files, while saying, "I heard about that. Professor Crane needs to keep his windows closed. Of course, they'll be days when it's too hot to keep the windows closed, so the students will have to be careful."

Batman angrily replied, "Stop lying, Strange. I know what's really going on."

Hugo pretended to not know what Batman was talking about, while saying, "You seem to be aware of something I'm not. You've been my most intriguing student this year, so please continue."

Batman replied, "You arranged for Man-Bat to be let out of his cage. You had him scratch up the lockers of students you had gotten bored with, like Penguin and Catwoman, so you could have them suspended. Also, you had Man-Bat come after me, so you can have him take off my mask. You're so interested in having the most eccentric people around you, you sent that freaky creature after them. Plus, you were so interested in finding out my secret identity, that you put my life in danger."

Hugo put his hand on his chin and responded, "Interesting theories, Mr. Batman."

Batman angrily replied, "They're facts, not theories. Professor Crane is a sick man, but you're the true mastermind behind this operation. Enjoy your compelling position of power, because I plan on having your secrets exposed."

Hugo asked, "Secrets? You're the one with the real secrets and I plan on finding out who you really are, no matter what."

Batman started to walk away. He turned and replied, "I'll be keeping my eye on you, Strange."

Hugo responded, "I'll be keeping my eye on that cowl of yours. Sooner or later, I'll know the man behind the bat."

Batman left Hugo Strange's office and thought about what had happened. Although his previous days were stressful, he had accomplished a lot. If he hadn't confronted Hugo Strange and Scarecrow, they would have let Man-Bat hurt more students. Arkham Asylum was still full of problems, but hope was rising, thanks to Batman. Batman decided to keep going to Arkham Asylum, so he can protect his classmates from his enemy, Hugo Strange. He knew Strange had more schemes planned, but Batman was ready to start being the hero.
