Disclaimer: I'm not gonna say everything right off the bat, but the last five chapters of this season will contain story elements from my favorite Paw Patrol fanfic. I don't expect this part to be handled as well as the story it's inspired by, especially since the context is different from that story, but I hope it at least works well in the final product. We'll see how Flare and the others can handle this kind of story beat.

Also, I don't own Paw Patrol.

Paw Patrol X

Friend or Foe arc Episode seventeen: Flare's First Tears Of Sadness

The tension was already high at the Paw Patrol lookout, as Charm's threat on Adventure Bay was already taking a massive toll on everyone. Zuma was looking out the window feeling betrayed, Skye was sitting in the living room chair, unsure of what to do, Snow looked angry while sitting on the couch, Rocky was trying to process what was going on, and Chase was trying to think of how to make it all work out for everyone as he comforted Skye. Flare felt awful about what was going on, as what was happening wasn't only crushing him, but it also had to be destroying his friends.

Flare looked at Zuma and walked over to him in an attempt to comfort him in his time of need. "Zuma. I'm... I'm so sorry." Zuma then started to get angry as Flare continued trying to comfort him. "Maybe it's not all bad. Charm's a massive snake, right? Maybe he-"

"IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!" Zuma snapped as he turned to Flare, causing the Dalmatian to flinch and back up a little. It really caught Flare off guard, especially when Zuma kept yelling at him. "Why couldn't you just butt out and leave it to us!? Maybe we would've seen this coming if you had! God knows I should have after what happened with Nicky!"

Chase got up and went over to Flare and Zuma while informing Zuma to calm down. "Cool it Zuma." Zuma glared at Chase, who did his best to keep him from lashing out again. "I know we're all stressed and angry about this, but that's no reason to take it out on Flare."

"Why wouldn't there be!?" Zuma asked, and then he glared at Flare again as he pointed something else out. "Him thinking we could help evewyone is what led to Claw finding Jake's Mountain!"

Chase wasn't about to have this however, refusing to let Zuma blame Flare and Flare alone. "Zuma, that's not fair!"

Flare tried to hold back his tears as he told Zuma what his true intentions were. "I never wanted this to happen Zuma!"

"Well guess what Flawe! It did!" Zuma snapped back, and he had one more thing to say before he was done. "And now the fiwst twue home I've had after thwee and a half yeaws of hell could die at the hands of Chawm! Thanks Flawe!"

After Zuma walked out of the Lookout, Flare kept it together as he expressed worry. "Chase... is Zuma gonna be okay?" Chase shrugged, being unsure of how to answer that. Flare then looked to Snow as he tried to comfort her next. "Snow?" Snow glared at Flare, who stopped walking once she did as he tried to empathize with her pain. "I know this must be hard for you Snow." Snow clenched her fist as Flare continued talking. "If Marshall ever got taken like that, I'd feel-"

"Oh, put a sock in it Flare!" Snow snapped as she pounded her fist on the couch arm and walked up to Flare in anger, scaring him as she did. "You don't have a clue what it's like to be separated from your sister for fifteen months, and then have her captured again after five months of being reunited, because your stupid and naive friend decided to play around with your trust issues!"

Flare felt hurt by that accusation and as Snow walked past him, Flare pointed out how this was something Snow wanted. "N-n-no! You wanted to trust Claw!"

"And what a mistake that was!" Snow shot back, still being furious as she called out how obvious this looked to her. "Something else for you to learn from!"

Chase went to Flare's defense again, since Skye was out of it and couldn't talk her down. "Hey, that's not fair Snow; Flare had no way to predict any of this. Besides; we all trusted Claw."

"And who convinced us to trust Claw!?" Snow snapped, and then she started yelling at Flare after he tried again to apologize.

"Snow, I'm sorry!" Flare walked up to Snow, who turned around so she wouldn't have to look at him. "I never wanted to hurt you!"

"There's no excuse Flare! Just no excuse for any of this!"

"Please Snow, just try to understand!"

Snow then turned back around while saying something scathing to Flare "Understand the palm of my paw ditch!", and then doing something that hurt him even more.

SMACK!

...Snow slapped Flare directly across the face. And she hit him so hard that he fell to the ground. Snow instantly realized what she did and felt horrible for it, despite her anger. As Flare walked away while holding his right cheek, trying desperately to hold back his tears, it made Snow feel even worse. "I'm sorry. I'm so so so so sorry!"

Snow couldn't think straight as she looked at her paw with Chase calling her out angrily as she flashed back to one of the times her dad beat her. "Snow!" She walked off an an instant after that so she wouldn't hurt Flare again, unable to say anything as she did with Chase following her as she called him out. "You just slapped Flare across the face!"

Flare then looked at Skye, hoping that he could comfort at least one of his friends during this time. "Skye?"

Skye looked at Flare with the same fearful expression that was aimed towards the situation as she got up. "I'm sorry Flare. I need some time to think." Even though Skye wasn't trying to be cold, Flare still felt even sadder watching her leave the Lookout.

Rocky then had some choice words for Flare regarding the situation, standing up and walking past him as he began. "This is why you haven't joined the team yet Flare. You're always making risky move after risky move." Rocky looked to Flare as he showed that he was almost as mad about the situation as Zuma was. "It's no wonder Marshall told Ryder he didn't want you to join!"

Flare was shocked to hear that and didn't want to believe it, as he felt Marshall would never lie to him. It made him mad to even think about Marshall betraying him. "Shut up Rocky! Marshall would never go behind my back like that! He knows how I feel about promises, like the one he made me after we left Barkingburg!"

"Some promises need to be broken for the greater good Flare." Rocky informed Flare angrily, and he walked towards the Lookout door as he left one final scathing note for him. One that he felt he needed to hear. "Now I see this was one of them."

Rocky left the Lookout just as Marshall and Ryder arrived, leaving Ryder to get his attention. "Rocky?" Rocky didn't address Ryder however, and instead walked off with Ryder looking to Marshall to let him know. "I should make sure the others are okay Marshall. You check up on Flare."

Marshall nodded in response and entered the Lookout, and he was surprised to find Flare sitting beside the couch, seemingly on the verge of tears. He worried immensely for his little brother, as he'd never seen him this upset before. He went over to him in an attempt to help him feel better. "Flare; what's... what's wrong?"

Flare clenched his fists and stood up once he heard Marshall's voice, looking at him with a somber look that made Marshall worry even more. "Our friends hate me."

Marshall was shocked to hear that and couldn't believe what Flare was saying without making sure. "What?"

"Zuma snapped at me over what happened with Claw and Charm, Rocky practically rejected the idea of me joining the team, Skye couldn't even talk to me for more than a few seconds, and Snow..." Flare couldn't even bring up what Snow did, making Marshall horrified by what he heard. Flare then brought up a scathing question. "Rocky brought up something else." And when he did, Marshall wasn't sure how to answer. "Do you want me to join the team?"

Marshall knew he'd be caught if he lied about this directly, so he decided to try and dodge it to spare Flare's feelings. "Flare... t-that's up to you."

"Marshall!" Flare snapped, shocking Marshall even further, as he'd never heard Flare respond like that before. Upon seeing Flare's clenched fists, Marshall knew for 100% certain that this was serious. Flare tried to avoid crying as he let Marshall know what he wanted him to do. "I'm gonna ask you something. And whatever answer you give me... I'll believe it." Flare looked directly at Marshall so he knew he meant business. "Did you tell Ryder not to let me join the Paw Patrol?"

Marshall wasn't sure how to answer that question. He knew Flare would be crushed, but he didn't want to lie to him anymore. He was amazed that he'd managed to hide what he did for a solid month now as is. He prepared himself for what was about to come, so he answered honestly. "I... I did." That was the tipping point for Flare. He couldn't believe what he'd just learned. Marshall actually broke his promise! First his friends hated him and now this! Flare couldn't even think straight after that, and what Marshall saw next filled his heart with regret.

Flare started crying. And it was out of complete sadness and anger.

With tears now streaming down Flare's face, he started to lash out himself over how betrayed he felt by Marshall. "I should've known! You didn't even want me to come with you!"

Marshall wasn't sure what to do. He'd never seen Flare like this before. "I'm sorry Flare! I just wanted to protect you!"

"You couldn't just talk to me about this!?" Flare yelled, and then he gave another question to Marshall about the situation. "How long have you been doing this for!?"

Marshall hesitated to answer, but he couldn't leave Flare waiting, so he gave his response. "About a month. It was what I talked to Ryder about after we learned that dad worked with Slash at one point."

Flare sniffled a bit before yelling some more, letting Marshall know just how betrayed he felt. "And you didn't think to tell me this sooner!? Maybe before our friends blew up at me!?" Marshall could feel Flare's pain as Flare expressed how hurt he was right now. "I just wanted to help Claw, and had have to rub it in that it backfired! And now I find out you don't trust me anymore!? Even after eight months of training and hard work!?"

Marshall was hurt by the accusation and tried to assure Flare that it wasn't the case. "No Flare; it's not like that!" Marshall tried to put his paw on Flare's shoulder for comfort. "I didn't-"

"Don't touch me!" Flare snapped as he swatted Marshall's paw away. And as he glared directly at Marshall, he said something Marshall never could've imagined coming out of his mouth.

"I HATE YOU!"

Flare rushed off in tears, leaving Marshall heartbroken by those last three words. He reached out to Flare, but couldn't muster the strength to call out to him. Instead, his sadness turned to anger, and he walked out of the Lookout to confront the others on what they said to Flare.

Flare burst into his room and slammed the door shut, leaning against the door before sliding into a sitting position. He instantly regretted saying that last thing to Marshall, but he was so angry and sad that he couldn't think properly. He'd never been treated like that before, and he'd never felt like this until today. The last time anyone could recall him crying was when he was a baby who couldn't speak yet. These were emotions he didn't know how to handle yet. Even with the knowledge that the others were stressed out of their minds, it was too much for him.

Or was it? Flare looked over to his bunk and saw Princess Chocolate sitting at the wood plank that was there to prevent him from falling off. When he saw his teddy bear on the bed, he started to think... what would dad do? Even though Flare only had his father in his life for a total of one day, he knew enough about him to know he'd want to do the right thing. He walked over to Smiley's cage, which was next to the bottom bunk, and the frog noticed the look on his face.

Smiley didn't know what to think when he saw Flare's determined face covered in tears until he spoke up. "It's time for me to be strong Smiley. I have to be strong for everyone now." Flare stood up and threw the sash Blaze made for the Twin Flame Island Protection Force on his bed next to Princess Chocolate. He then looked at Smiley again, and the frog seemed worried about what was going to happen. "It's time to finally put my training to use." Flare walked over to the door as he finished stating what it was he planned on doing. "No more hiding from battle."

Flare left his room and went down the hallway, finding that Marshall wasn't in the living room. This was good, as it let him go into the garage to continue his plan without fail. "Only one shot at this Flare. And once you start, there's no turning back." Flare then saw that Marshall forgot to take the key out once he got into his truck. He smirked as he thought of how like Marshall that was. "Typical." Flare then got serious again and hopped into the driver's seat to fulfill his plan.

Meanwhile, the others were still contemplating what happened with Snow looking at her paw in fear with Chase talking to her as Ryder arrived to where they were. "I get it Snow. You're stressed, like all of us, and it's especially bad with you because Everest is being held captive again." Chase then let Snow that what she did to Flare was wrong. "But that's no excuse to take it out on Flare; especially not in the way you did it."

"I know that Chase!" Snow shouted, turning to him as she expressed exactly what she felt during that moment. It was clear that she was filled with fear and regret. "It started eating me up inside as soon as I hit him. And then thoughts started spiraling through my brain about me turning into my dad, and him turning into the pup I used to be." Snow had no idea what to do. She wanted to apologize to Flare, but did she even deserve to speak to him again? "How do... how do I even apologize to him after that?"

Chase was about to speak up, only for Marshall to be heard screaming in a voice angrier than he'd ever shouted before. "I, AM, FIRED UP!"

The others looked to find Flare walking over to them in a fury as he wiped the tears from his eyes and walked over to them. Ryder tried to calm him down, knowing that this was the last thing anyone needed. "Take it easy Marshall."

"Not. Now. Ryder." Marshall responded, and he started with Rocky, walking up to him with Zuma stepping next to him for protection. "Why did you tell Flare what I did!?"

The others had never seen this side of Marshall before. Rocky was so scared that he didn't know what to say. "I... uh..."

Marshall wasn't having it however. He wanted an answer right then and there. "Answer me Rocky! NOW!"

Rocky did his best to compose himself and gave the best answer he could. "I just... I felt he needed to hear that." Marshall waited for Rocky to finish, which he did after making sure Marshall was listening. "The main reason he hasn't joined the team yet is because he's struggling to know when to think his actions through. And every thought I had about what was going on led back to the moment Flare convinced us to trust Claw."

"So you decide to enable everyone else's behavior by joining in!?" Marshall snapped after making sure Rocky was done, and then he turned to Zuma, who stepped in front of Rocky in an attempt to protect him. "Don't keep me waiting Zuma. What did you say to Flare!?"

Zuma clenched his fists as he started to realize what he said to Flare. Now that he was thinking clearly, he saw that he was wrong to say what he did. "I told him... that this was all his fault. What's going on wight now." Marshall clenched his fist as Zuma continued to explain. "And that he should've just butted out and left it to us."

Marshall nodded in response as he gave a fake smile in regards to what was going on. "Yeah. Uh-huh. Okay."

Marshall then showed his anger again, not only in his expression, but also sucker punching Zuma with a strong right hook. Upon seeing this, Ryder stopped him, despite being disappointed in what he was hearing. Chase joined in at the same time as Ryder told Marshall to stop. "Marshall, take it easy! This isn't getting us anywhere!"

With Chase and Ryder holding him back with his palm, Marshall snapped at Zuma, who thankfully found no blood on his nose, telling him exactly what was going on with Flare. "Well I hope you two feel proud for what you told him! After I told him that my talk with Ryder did happen, he was so hurt that he told me at the top of his lungs that he hated me!"

The others were shocked. Flare was actually capable of saying something that spiteful? Snow had to make sure and walked over as she spoke up. "Flare said that?" Marshall nodded his head yes, trying not to take any of his anger out on Snow, since he knew she would be as worried as he was. "But it's Flare! The angriest I've seen him get was when he freaked out about seeing the doctor!"

"You and me both Snow." Marshall responded, and Snow then started having a guilt ridden breakdown as Marshall continued to rip into Rocky and Zuma. "Let me ask you this much. How would you feel if two canines you cared for deeply snapped at you, broke your spirits, and dug into your biggest flaw in the same minute?"

Before Rocky and Zuma could answer, Skye started to speak up in an attempt to apologize to Marshall. "I'm sorry Marshall. I was so shocked by Charm's plan that I couldn't bring myself to defend Flare the way Chase did. I should've-"

Snow then fell to her knees and started crying, which caught everyone else off guard. Ryder made an attempt to comfort Snow as Marshall signaled Chase to let him go, which he did, and walked over to her. "We'll get through this Snow. Flare's a forgiving pup."

"That won't matter for what I did." Marshall and the others listened closely as Snow told him point blank what she did to Flare. "I slapped him."

Marshall was furious when he heard that and was about to get enraged again as he did his best to contain himself. "YOU DID WHAT!?"

"I got so mad about what was going on that I slapped him smack across the face!" Snow shouted back, her voice driven with fear, remorse, and sadness as she expressed these feelings clearly. "I actually struck him. I hit him as hard as I could in blind rage." Snow punched the ground as she started to get aggressively self loathing. "What kind of friend am I!? What kind of canine am I!? I'm no better than my father! I don't even deserve to know a pup as kind and loving as Flare!"

Snow continued crying her eyes out while looking at the ground, and was surprised when she felt Marshall's paw touching her shoulder. Snow looked up at him as he offered her a hug. She was hesitant at first, but when she saw that he meant it, she went in for it and started crying into his chest. Marshall was still mad at Rocky, Zuma, and Snow for how they treated Flare, and disappointed in Skye for not doing anything, but he knew it wouldn't help anyone to keep up the anger. He instead chuckled as he felt Snow's fluffy fur. "Just like Everest. Soft and comfy fur."

Snow was surprised to hear the compliment, but was grateful for the support nonetheless. When she pulled him away, she expressed concern over how she was going to make it up to Flare, along with saving Adventure Bay. "Knowing Flare, he probably wants to help save Adventure Bay with us." The others were unsure of what to do with Ryder kneeling down to Chase upon his signal, and he whispered an idea he wanted to try into his head. "How can we be as brave as he is now?"

As Snow kept beating herself up for what she did to Flare, Chase spoke up. "We get out there and do something." Everyone looked at Chase with Ryder smiling in support of his idea with Chase knowing exactly what he had to do. "I know right now, it looks like we can't do anything. But we can. That's what we're here to do." Chase looked over the cliff and looked to the still lively, but slowly draining, Adventure Bay. "Our town needs us. Now more than ever. And despite what's going on now, we can't let Charm win. Flare wouldn't, I won't, and I know none of you want to either."

The others looked at Chase as they started to feel the inspiration he was trying to give them all. Chase continued speaking as he let them all know that he was standing right along side them until the end. "And I'll make sure we all make it out, the best I can."

Chase closed his eyes as he then began to sing something from his heart. We'll Never Be Too Small. "No job is too big... no pup is too small." Ryder knew instantly that this was from the team motto, which made him even more proud. "No matter who it is... we provide help for all." Rocky and Zuma looked at each other with inspired eyes as Chase kept singing. "Whether it's light or dark... whether it's pleasant or foul." Skye walked over to Snow and Marshall, the former of whom stood up thanks to the help of the other two.

"We'll rise up against all danger with a might hooooooowl!"

Chase then turned to the others with a determined smile as bombastic and motivational music played, showing that despite Chase's current internal problems, he was as serious as he could be about this. "That's the motto that we learned after we joined the team! And I plan to stick true to it no matter how loud I must scream!" Chase walked past the others one by one as he kept singing. "As dire as this looks for us, I know this is the right call!" Chase then stopped as he got ready to remind the others of who they were. "Because as far as I know, we'll never be too small!"

As the other pups and Ryder listened to Chase's song, moments of what he and the other pups have been through were shown as he sung about them. "We rose up from our tragedies and came to Adventure Bay. We trained ever so valiantly, when we chose to stay. We've all proven we have what it takes to stand up to the dark. So let's prove that our bite is as bad as our baaaaark!"

Chase then started listing off the many things his friends have survived up to this point, all of whom were uplifted by what he was pointing out. "Rocky! You still survived a fatal blow, proving that you're tough. Zuma! You looked for years to find a place that makes you happy. Snow! You never stopped working to find your sister after Charm took her. Marshall! The death of your father never once stopped you from being cheery."

Chase then gestured the others to the Lookout, knowing that he had a plan in mind to take down Charm. "What I see before me are a heroic rescue team! Tenacious, friendly, courageous pups; the most I've ever seen!" Snow couldn't help shaking it off her mind that she wasn't what Chase said she was, and he lifted her head to show her that it was true. "No matter how hard it gets, we'll never be too small!" He then walked to the Lookout with the others as he kept his determined smile. "And to defend our home will always be the right call!"

The garage door then opened with everyone heading on in to their respective vehicles. Marshall saw that his was gone with a note Flare left where his fire truck normally was, saying that he was gonna make things right. Marshall felt a truckload of guilt hit him upon seeing this note, but then Chase put a paw on his shoulder with an idea in mind. "I got your back Marshall. You're riding with me." Marshall smiled and did his signature handshake with Chase, knowing that he was gonna have to try in order to save Flare and everyone else.

Chase continued singing as he brought up that he was feeling as scared as the other pups. "I don't blame you all for being afraid. As soon as this moment struck, my fear inside was made. Please know that you're not alone on this day. How I wish it was one where we could laugh and play." Chase then put his pup hat on as he continued his song. "But make no mistake; this won't be a decision that we regret. We all make those in our lives, so there's no need to fret. We won't get anywhere by letting fear take over. We don't need the luck of a four leaf cloveeeeer!"

Chase then wrapped up his song by hopping into his police car and going in front of the others to finish his song. "We declared to help everyone possible, on the day we joined this force! And I'm not going to let today be the start of a crash course! As scared as I am, like the rest of you, I know this is the right call!" Chase could see that everyone else was pumped up and got ready to finish his song. "I know for a fact, that we'll never be," He raised his fist upon the final lyrics of the song. "Too smaaaaaaaaaall!"

The other pups started barking and cheering for Chase with Ryder praising him as Chase had some extra words for Marshall. "Come on Marshall! Let's find your brother, and save Adventure Bay!" Marshall nodded in response and let out one final howl just before Chase stepped on the gas. He drove off with the other pups behind him, and now all of them were ready to save their home.

Meanwhile, on a ferry that was headed for Adventure Bay, Wave and Margareth were shown worrying for their lives in their room with Margareth panicking over her brothers' safety. "I should've known that psychopath Charm was too much for them! There's no way they'd be prepared for the collapsing of an entire town!"

Wave did her best to calm Margareth down, knowing she had a habit of being protective over her siblings. "We'll help them in any way we can Margareth." Wave hugged her daughter to help her calm down, which seemed to work rather well. "The day I let Charm hurt you, or your brothers, is the day I die."

Margareth wrapped her arms around Wave as she asked a question regarding Blaze. "Do you... do you think dad ever had to deal with something like this?"

"Well I didn't attend his missions, so I can't say." Wave then pulled Margareth away as she reminded her of who her father was. "Even then, if there's one thing you all have in common with your father, besides Marshall's clumsiness, Flare's struggle to think things through, and your love of sports, it's your devotion to your family." Wave and Margareth then looked out their window, which revealed that the ferry had just arrived in Adventure Bay. "And now's the time to show it." Margareth nodded, ready to do whatever she had to in order to protect Flare and Marshall.

As Marshall and the others were heading for Jake's Mountain, the Dalmatian Pup had a thought in mind about Chase and decided to bring it up to him. "Ya know Chase? I just realized something." Chase put his car into auto-drive as he listened to what Marshall had to say. "You and my dad have a lot in common."

Chase laughed a bit when he heard that and just had to joke about. "How so? Was Blaze also a walking gas bag?"

"Well... yeah." Marshall admitted with a slight giggle, and then he got serious with his explanation. "What I mean is, you're both great leaders who work past whatever causes you to struggle to do what's right. You're both devoted to the ones you care about, you both got through rough lives before finding where you belong, and you'd do whatever it took to make things right. And that song you did for us back at the Lookout. It really showed just how good you are at motivating others."

Chase was flattered by the fact that Marshall saw his father inside of him. He was always glad to be able to remind him of something positive. "Then I think the two of us would've gotten along."

Marshall nodded in response before seeing something that worried him excessively. "Oh no, mom and Margareth are here!"

The Paw Patrol stopped in front of the ferry just as Wave and Margareth rushed onto the dock with Ryder taking his helmet off to address them. "Wave? Margareth? What're you two doing here?"

"Duh; Flare's birthday is this week." Margareth reminded Ryder, and Snow was hit with even more guilt as she looked at her paw in fear. Margareth and Wave noticed with Margareth asking just to make sure. "Are you okay Snow? We know what's going on, but it seems to have hit you the hardest."

"Things got pretty heated after we found out what happened." Ryder explained, and Marshall hopped out of Chase's car to talk to his mom and sister. "I think it'd be best if Snow told you what happened herself. I don't wanna risk making her feel worse."

Ryder, Margareth, and Wave saw Marshall walking up to them with Wave and Margareth instantly hugging him as Wave spoke up. "Promise us you'll be save Marshy.

Wave and Margareth then noticed that Flare wasn't with them, and Margareth pulled Marshall away as she asked about him. "Marshall. Where's Flare?"

Marshall's guilt rose up again as he thought about Flare. "Mom. Margareth. I..." He struggled to explain it at first, not wanting to break down and waste time. "I really screwed up." Wave and Margareth showed even more fear for Flare and Marshall's safety with Marshall going into further detail. "I'll explain more later, but mainly what happened is I did something that made Flare so upset that he rushed up to Charm's base on his own."

"He did WHAT!?"

Marshall tried to hold back his tears from Wave and Margareth's obvious fear with Margareth expressing her worry first. "Typical Flare. He could get himself killed!"

"And we're not going to let him." Wave looked to Ryder after hugging Marshall, who wrapped his arms around her as she spoke to him. "We're going too Ryder." Marshall was shocked to hear this and pulled his mother away when she confirmed that she was serious. "Even if we can't get involved in the action, we at least want to be there to see if Flare and Marshall make it out okay."

Ryder had to respect that, but knew he had to take the necessary precautions to make this count. "It's gonna get brutal Wave. I installed some extra defenses on Chase's car a while back. You and Margareth can ride with him and Marshall to the base and stay in there for as long as need be."

Wave and Margareth nodded with Marshall asking if they were really okay with doing this. "Are you a hundred percent sure you wanna do this?"

Margareth confirmed that she and Wave were serious as she looked to Marshall when walking over to Chase's car. "We're five thousand percent sure Marshall." Marshall, Margareth, and Wave got into Chase's car with Margareth and Wave sitting in the back seat. Ryder then gave the go ahead, leading to everyone driving off to Charm's base to take it down once and for all.

Marshall then decided that now was a good time to start explaining things, so he started filling Margareth and Wave in on what was going on. "Obviously, you both know that Adventure Bay is having it's life slowly drained by Charm. I hope this isn't a bad time to give you the rest of the context."

"There will never be a bad time Marshall." Wave assured Marshall, knowing that her love for him wouldn't fade for any reason. Margareth felt the same way and nodded in response to what Wave was saying to her brother. "Tell us everything."

Marshall nodded in response with Chase focusing on the road, knowing that this was a private conversation between Marshall, his mother, and his sister. "Well... the part I mentioned started last month after we got back from Twin Flame Island."

Flare was driving through Jake's Mountain as fast as he could, making absolute sure he got to the base to help the others stop Charm. His emotions were all over the place after what happened back at the Lookout, but the thing that stood out amongst everything else was the desire to save Adventure Bay. Despite him rushing off without letting anyone know, he did have a plan for how to make this work. When he spotted Charm's base in the distance, he stopped Marshall's fire truck to revise it. He wanted to make sure it felt sound before he went through with it.

'Okay Flare. You got this. Sneak into Charm's base to find where Everest and Richie are being held while hoping that Charm didn't kill Claw, then find out where the generator to Charm's machine is to shut it down, and then find a way to shut down the entire base.' Flare thought a little more about the plan and felt that it was something he could go through with. He still felt immense guilt over what he said to Marshall however. 'And if this goes wrong... then it'll be up to the others to stop Charm.'

Flare stepped on the gas pedal once again, driving as fast as he could to make his way to Charm's base now that it was in sight. He started to think about his friends again and the harsh treatment they gave to him after Charm's announcement. It was one of many thoughts he couldn't get out of his mind. And the way Snow slapped him. He'd never been hurt like that by a friend before, let alone one he was as close to as Snow. He didn't know how he was going to feel after this, but his ride to Charm's base filled his mind with one thought that overpowered all the rest.

He was going to try with all of his might to help save Adventure Bay.

To be continued.

Suspenseful music played as Flare started speaking in regards to what was going to happen in the next chapter with specific moments being shown. "It's time to finally put my paw Patrol training to good use! I'm not just gonna sit around and watch, and I'm not gonna get captured this time! I'm gonna save my friends and bring this base to the ground! Wait; Charm has dragons now!? The Dragon's tooth; of course. And one of them is Sunshine!? Charm is using other children now!?"

Flare finished the announcement with the words Paw Patrol in all blue with red outlines and the title all white with Flare on one and and Marshall on the other. "Next time, Flare's Determination and Claw's Redemption Part One! (Flare was shown sneaking around Charm's base and stealing a guard's gun) Nothing will stop me from saving Adventure Bay!"
