Welp, it's definitely been a while since I posted a new chapter for this story.
I'm sorry that I made you all wait three months for a new chapter. The delay was due to a combination of being in community college, not much free time, a small bit of writer's block, and good old procrastination. I probably could have finished this chapter by early to mid October if I didn't procrastinate so hard.
It probably also doesn't help that since this is my own original arc, I have to mostly make it from scratch. Yes, I take inspiration from some things but for the most part It's original.
I'm aware that Laziness is no excuse and I will try my best to get the next chapter out as soon as I can.
I also want to point out that I plan on having one or two chapters between this arc and the next arc focusing around Godzilla retrieving Mothra and bringing her to Kyoto, as well as Godzilla training more with magic. The time between chapters has given me time to brainstorm Ideas.
Oh and for those who got mad about how I said I'm sticking to canon for this fanfic, you weren't paying attention. It starts with being close to canon due to the overall events of the supernatural side not being impacted that much by the existence of Godzilla and the other titans. However, as Godzilla becomes more involved in the events of DXD, the events of canon start to deviate more and more to the point where certain arcs play out very differently. This will be made more apparent in the next arc.
Also this chapter is filled with references to other stories feel free to tell me how many you find.
Also, for those who are reading this on , the wattpad version of this story has a drawing of my design for Titanus Quetzalcoatl in the monarch super species profile at the end of the chapter.
enjoy.
The Feathered Serpent.
— 25 km southeast of the Aral Sea, Uzbekistan 1:00 pm —
Soaring through the air, he makes his way to his first destination. It is a place he holds dear to him. A Great Depression in the earth that gave way to a large freshwater sea. He had always enjoyed bathing his feathers in the pristine, freshwater as opposed to the saltwater of other seas.
As he flew through the skies, he noticed the air felt different from the last cycle. The great wind currents that flowed across the planet did not flow the same as how he remembered, the air had also felt warmer than last time as well. However, the air wasn't all he noticed. Looking down, he saw great scars in the land that showed signs of terrible storms that ravaged the skies.
Something had happened while he was resting.
However, he felt that there was no need for his interference here as his instincts told him that there were places that needed him far more than here. After all, he is aware that the planet has survived far worse in its past.
As he approached his destination, he immediately noticed that something was very wrong. Much of his beloved sea had been dried up. Large, reddish brown structures were scattered across the dried bed of where freshwater once flowed. This place, that had been held so dear to him for much of his life, was now but a tiny fraction of its former self, much of it replaced by dry grassland and desert sand.
Flying to the edge of his great sea, he lands near the shoreline before placing the ends of his front wings on the ground and crawling into the water. As he entered the water, he noticed that it felt different. No longer did it bring him the comforting effects that he enjoyed but an irritation to his feathers. He bent down and dipped his beak into the water and tasted it. Immediately after taking a sip, he pulled his head back as his body and neck started to shiver from the strange taste.
Even the water itself had changed since the last cycle.
He would need to find a new place to bathe himself. But before that, he will ensure that new life will emerge and grow where the great sea used to be.
Letting out a shriek, he began flapping his wings as he jumped forward, and up into the air. As he rose up higher into the sky, he turned around and began flying to the dried up portion of the sea. Soaring over the dried up areas of sand and dried grass, the diamond patterns on the back of his wings along with the black markings on the front of his body began to glow red as he shrieked once more. Just after his shriek, he began to lower his altitude before releasing a black haze from his wings that carpeted the land below him, causing the plant-life and any animals to suffocate and die before rapidly decaying.
After nearly half an hour, he had made several passes over the large depression in the earth and spread his haze over a large percentage of it.
However, just as he was about to fly off, he heard something strange. The noise sounded like some kind of continuous roar but it wasn't one that he had ever heard before. As he began flying higher into the sky, the noise started getting louder and closer. He began looking around as he flew, trying to find the source of the noise, when he noticed several small, gray shapes traveling through the air approaching him from behind.
Could these things be the source of the noise?
He wasn't entirely sure, they seemed a little small to be making roars that loud. However, little gray things then released some kind of strange, glowing lights that began traveling towards him.
He didn't know what they were, but his instincts told him that they were dangerous. Unfortunately, he was too slow and the lights crashed into him and exploded in a bright light that caused him to screech in pain.
These things dare attack him unprovoked!
While he wasn't injured by the strange lights, they still stung. If they wish to attack him, then he will gladly punish them for doing so.
Letting out a shriek, He began flying up higher into the air before turning to his right and entering a large cloud. Upon entering the cloud, he closed his primary eyes and used his Parietal eye to see where their heat patterns were. As he did so, he noticed that their heat patterns looked strange, but ignored it. As he watched them, he slowed down just enough for them to barely pass him before he dived down towards the center of the group and opened his eyes.
Exiting the clouds, he shrieked as he grabbed two of them with his talons and crushed them before he flapped his tail wing and destroyed three more. Dropping the crushed gray creatures he began approaching another from behind.
As he approached it, he noticed something strange, the area behind the grey creature's beak was clear, and he could see something inside it. He needed to get closer, to get a better look.
As he got closer he recognized the creature inside of the gray things.
A human.
They were the ones who built him his underground nest. He was familiar with their ability to construct detailed nests, and structures that allowed them to pass natural barriers. These gray things are similar to the things the humans made to traverse the seas. For their ability to build having progressed so much, how long had it been since his previous cycle? He had not encountered such hostility from them in his previous cycle.
After all, he was aware that humans were an aggressive species, even towards each other, often going to war.
He was no stranger to war. After all, it was simply a form of natural competition. For all species, competition is something that forces them to adapt and evolve so that they may thrive. It is simply another part of nature.
However, that doesn't mean he will excuse their aggression towards him. He simply didn't know why they were attacking him. Were they protecting their territory? Were they threatened by him and wished to drive him off? Whatever the reason, it didn't matter. They had attacked him and he would not let them go easily.
Letting out a shriek, he opened his beak to clamp down the gray thing. However, just before he could clamp his beak onto it, the gray thing quickly picked up enough speed to just barely get out of range just as his beak snapped shut. The gray thing continued to pick up speed before catching up with two more.
Looking forwards at the gray things as he flew after them, he noticed that they were maintaining a straight path with very minimal turning. As he started to get closer to them, they seemingly sped up just enough that they were just out of his reach but still flying slow enough for him to keep up.
Were they taunting him?
No. If they were, they wouldn't all be flying in the same direction. They appeared to be leading him somewhere.
Suddenly, the gray things released a bunch of bright red balls of light from their backsides. The red orbs of light fell directly into his face and temporarily blinded him, forcing him to close his eyes and slow down.
The strange red orbs caused his eyes a great amount of discomfort and irritation. He couldn't focus on the gray things that were now flying farther away from him. He needed to relieve his eyes of the irritation caused by those red orbs. Luckily, he was already flying towards another body of water that he knew was nearby.
As he descended towards the water, he wondered why they had led him here. It also seemed that the gray things were already gone. Not that it mattered, he would simply relive his eyes and be on his way.
— Elsewhere —
Boris, We succeeded in guiding Titanus Yatagarasu away from any major population centers. He's currently located somewhere along the coast of the Caspian Sea.
The voice of Captain Petrov echoed over the radio in one of Monarch's G-Team outposts. Boris listened with a small smile on his face. Boris was a rather bulky man with short black hair and spoke in a distinct slavic accent.
"Good work old friend. We'll continue monitoring Big Bird for any changes in behavior or movement. You and your team should focus on landing soon." Boris informed the captain.
Sure thing. What do you think that titan was doing at the Aral Sea? I saw how he released some kind of black haze from his wings. Plus from what I could see when approaching, he seemed pretty upset.
"We don't know for sure, but it could have something to do with the chemicals in the water from all those Soviet experiments back in the day. As for that haze, It kinda reminds me of that thing Mothra did on the Nine-tailed fox back in Kyoto." Boris replied.
Yeah, I remember seeing that online. Where do you think Kyuubi went after that mess?
"I don't know, Dr. Brooks thinks she might've retreated into the Hollow Earth through a "Vile Vortex" or whatever he called it." Boris answered. "Anyway, a research team is already on its way to the Aral Sea to find out what Yatagarasu was doing with its haze."
Is Serizawa part of it?
"As much as he would've wanted to, he chose to stay behind and investigate our feathery friend's nest. So he had someone else go in his place."
Who did he assign? Was it Dr. Russel?
"God no. Both of them are on the other side of the planet right now and besides, this isn't exactly in their field of expertise. Serizawa sent Dr. Kiyama instead."
He's sending one of Monarch's biggest caffeine addicts?
"You do know that's only because of her crazy work ethic that she always looks like she's sleep deprived and needs to stay awake. But still, the amount of coffee she drinks is…excessive. Besides, she was one of the people who were with Serizawa's team at Big Bird's nest before he hatched so she's familiar with him."
Why does it seem like most of Monarch's top researchers are unnaturally crazy in some way? Anyway we're approaching the air field. Over and Out.
*2 hours Later*
Sitting in the transport hold of the Osprey, Dr. Harumi Kiyama was looking down at her tablet and going over the report and notes surrounding Titanus Yatagarasu as she drank her third bottle of coffee.
She had long wavy brown hair and bags under her eyes with a tired expression on her face. She was currently en-route to the Aral Sea to investigate and study what Yatagarasu's haze did to the affected area.
As she was reviewing the footage from the fighter jet squadron sent to lead the titan towards the Caspian Sea, She received a call from Boris. About 1 and a half hours ago, Yatagarasu took off from the Caspian Sea and started flying north before they were suddenly unable to track him for some unknown reason. In that time they had been tirelessly trying to find him based on any reported sightings. Unfortunately, the only sightings of Yatagarasu were from commercial airline pilots reporting to flight control and from the reports, he was flying at a notably higher altitude compared to the planes and was often over 100 meters away from them. While this did help them determine that Yatagarasu was still flying north they weren't able to track him very well, let alone figure out where they were going.
Lifting up her specialized communicator, and responded to the call.
"Have you finally been able to locate Yatagarasu?" She asked in a tired monotone voice.
Yes, we've finally found the damn thing. The bastard must have figured out that we were tracking it somehow and was sticking close to civilian airliners in order to stay hidden, clever bastard. Boris complained over the comm.
"I suppose that it is reasonable. Corvids are one of the smartest creatures in the animal kingdom, being able to match a 7-year old human in terms of intelligence. Additionally, given the intellect displayed by other titans, it would stand to reason that this one would be one of the smartest." She replied before finishing her coffee bottle. "Show me his current position and altitude along with the approximate locations of each sighting."
Yes, M'am.
After a few seconds of waiting the Osprey received the data and quickly transferred it to her tablet.
Looking at the data and connecting the dots that marked the reported locations after Yatagarasu left the Caspian Sea and confirmed that he was flying north at an angle of approximately 5-10o westward. As she looked at the altitude Yatagarasu had been flying at she saw that it was extremely high. The extreme height caused her to feel that something was off. She pulled up his flight path from where he woke up to the Aral Sea and noticed that his altitude during that flight was significantly lower than his current altitude.
"If his current altitude is much higher than his previous one… it might be possible that his current flight is a long distance one." Kiyama mumbled out loud as she grabbed her fourth coffee bottle.
As she continued looking at his current altitude. The number seemed very familiar to her but she couldn't quite put her finger on it.
"Is it possible for you to get a projected course based on his current flight path?" Kiyama asked Boris.
I can try but I can't promise a very accurate one. Like you just said, his current flight is a long distance one so he could be going anywhere. We'll only be able to accurately predict where he's going to be in the next hour or so. Boris replied.
"Good enough." Kiyama responded as she took a sip from her bottle.
"That altitude… if I remember correctly, don't Earth's Jetstreams flow at that altitude?"
Dr. Kiyama quickly turned to the person sitting next to her with a curious expression.
The person sitting next to Kiyama was a rather attractive Japanese woman with short black hair and dark red eyes that were underneath a pair of neat glasses. She was wearing a black, form-fitting polyester shirt underneath a light grey coat along with a pair of gray pants and black boots.
"Now that you mention it Dr. Kiyomi, that would explain why that altitude looked so familiar." Kiyama responded.
Much like Kiyama, Dr. Kiyomi had also been part of the team that Dr. Serizawa brought with him from Japan. Before leaving Japan, she had previously been one of the researchers stationed at Outpost 91 and helped with researching Titanus Yamata no Orochi. Despite being a fellow member and researcher for Monarch, Dr. Kiyomi always had this unnerving presence around her that gave off the feeling that there was much more to her than what her fellow colleagues knew. However, she alway acted very professional when working and the only thing about her that really stood out was her love for seafood. After a while, much of the staff got used to her presence and brushed off their paranoia as just feeling uneasy due to her previously working with dangerous venoms and poisonous substances.
As Dr. Kiyama looked at the flight path again, she thought about what Kiyomi told her and brought up a map of Earth's Jetstreams before placing Yatagarasu's flight path directly on top of it. After doing so, the two researchers had noticed that Yatagarasu's current path lined up with one of the Jetstreams.
"Do you think Yatagarasu is using the winds from the Jetstream as a path of sorts?" Kiyomi asked the brown haired researcher.
"Probably, based on his current altitude, he seems to be flying just below the Jetstream itself to avoid being affected by it." Dr. Kiyama responded as she observed where the Jetstream led. As she followed the Jetstream she noticed that it curved west near the Baltic Sea and traveled along Europe's north coast before stretching across the Atlantic and towards North America. Seeing this she quickly turned back towards the communicator to contact Boris on her and Kiyomi's theory.
"Boris, can you cancel the previous course projection and run a new one. We think Yatagarasu is flying opposite to one of Earth's Jetstreams."
Are you sure?
"I'm roughly 90% sure that Yatagarasu is using the Jetstream as a path based on the fact that it seems to be flying just below the Jetstream itself and the fact that its altitude indicates a long distance flight." Kiyama explained with urgency.
Very well. If we use the Jetstream as a base for the general direction he's going and take into account his earlier behaviors. It shouldn't take too long to calculate a new course prediction.
"Thank you." Kiyama replied before she took another long sip of coffee.
After a few moments Dr. Kiyama finally received the new projections.
Based on the new projections, our best guesses for where big bird is going are either the Great Lakes, or the northern part of the Mississippi River both of which could take him over 8-10 hours.
"Observe his movements for now and notify the rest of Monarch. Also update me on any changes to said flight path." Dr. Kiyama told him.
Sure thing. Also, I thought I should let you know that you'll be arriving at the Aral Sea in just over an hour. Should be plenty of time for you to get at least some rest. You sound like lifeless zombie.
"Boris, this is serious." Kiyama replied in a slightly stern tone.
"He's right, overworking yourself too much is definitely not good for your health." Dr. Kiyomi responded, causing Kiyama to narrow her eyes.
"Both of you aren't going to stop bugging me about this until I listen to you. Am I right?" She asked.
Pretty much.
"Absolutely."
After a brief few seconds of silence. Dr. Kiyama let out a tired sigh.
"Fine, I'll get some rest. But only after we retrieve a sample from the Site." Dr. Kiyama responded.
I guess that's as good as we're gonna get.
"You're probably right." Kiyomi replied in agreement.
Well, Good luck.
And just like that, Boris hung up.

— Monarch Research Outpost 57: 1 km Northwest of Chichen Viejo Mexico 9:35 am —
He peacefully slept, undisturbed by the noises around him in the large nest the humans built for him.
He had always curiously admired humans. Despite being so small and fragile compared to him and the others, they had the ability to reshape the land and create giant structures that resembled mountains.
What he admired most about them was their will to survive and ability to adapt to any circumstances faster than any other species. They could find use in even some of the most unlikely of things in their environment and turn it into something that helped them to prosper. They could control fire, create massive groups of plant life, create streams of water in the earth, and harness the winds to propel the floating things that they created from trees.
His curious admiration had led to him attracting the attention of the one closest to his king. She had a much stronger connection to Nature than him. She wanted him to watch over the humans and to assist her in protecting the land from the screeching one.
The screeching one had created a disturbance in the air using an entrance to the deep hollows. He had upset skies and brought imbalance to the weather in order to block out the sun in his territory. Such imbalance would have had a detrimental impact on the plant life and animals living in the region.
During their battle, he had managed to severely injure one of the screeching one's eyes before the king arrived and subdued them, making them submit before ordering them to return to their hibernation. After the battle, he was told to enter his own hibernation as well. Before entering his own hibernation, the shining winged one informed him that she will call upon his assistance in the future to act in her place should the need arise.
However, the call that had awoken him was not from her or the king. It was not a call to act in the place of the shining winged one. It was a call from another.
The Three-headed one.
The Three-headed one's call was a call to hunt, to kill, and to bring destruction to the world.
He was familiar with the Three-headed one, and he knew how powerful they were. While he did not want to bring destruction and death, his instincts to obey the Alpha took control of him. Even if his instincts didn't influence him, he still wouldn't have stood a chance of challenging the three-headed one. So while he had no choice but to obey their orders, he was still able to interpret those orders in any way he liked. This allowed him to interpret his orders in such a way that would cause the least amount of destruction and death possible.
He only targeted the edges of the human's nests and would make sure he was constantly moving to avoid any long lasting damage. Due to this, after the king returned as Alpha once more the places attacked by him recovered faster and sooner than the many places the others attacked.
He then traveled to a new place to rest and bathe in the sun's light. During that time, the humans constructed a large nest around him as he curiously watched them. After several months, he heard the king's call to return to rest. And so he did.
As he rested, he could feel the shining one's call coming to him once more. She was entering her cocoon and wanted him to act in her place to delay the three winged one as best he could before her metamorphosis was complete. Some areas of the planet needed more time to recover from the damage done by the three-headed one before the three-winged one properly performs his role.
Accepting the shining-winged one's request, he slowly began to awaken.
Dr. Alejandro Cortez sat in the monitoring station of outpost 57 drinking his morning coffee. He was a well-built Hispanic man in his late 20's with long, dark brown hair. As he drank his coffee, he looked out the window at the sleeping titan the outpost was constructed around.
Its body looked like a giant snake with most of it covered in a dull green armor similar to Titanus Tiamat or Godzilla's tail alongside a tan covered belly. Its head shared a similar shape to the Komodo Dragon, albeit more box-like, and its jaw contained sharp teeth similar to the extinct Megalania with two canines that are proportionally larger compared to the rest of its teeth. It also possessed a hardened shell on its head forming a golden head crest. Behind its eyes thin bands of additional armored skin stretched down the back of its head and stopped just before the neck. Behind the Head crest was a mane of bright red feathers that wrapped the back of the skull and stopped at the neck. Although they were currently folded, it also had three pairs of wings similar to that of the Flying Dragon Lizard. Four of the wings were located near the upper body with two large wings stretched out just above two smaller wings that started a little bit farther down the body. The last two wings were located around the body's midpoint. All six of the wings had red feathers lining their edges, causing them to be bunched up together when the wings were folded. Beneath the two main wings were a small pair of arms with three claws alongside an opposable thumb to act as a fourth finger.
As Alejandro looked out the window, he was relaxed, and considered himself really lucky to be assigned to Titanus Quetzalcoatl. Everyone else in his family had something they excelled at. Some excelled in sports, robotics, or art. Unfortunately, while he was certainly good at many of these things, he never excelled in them to nearly the same degree and because of this, for the longest time, he had nothing.
He was originally planning on trying out zoology and Graduated with a Master's degree. But while impressive for normal people, it was still inadequate compared to his older brother Hosé getting a PHD in robotics or his cousin Roberto managing to become the first hispanic US president 3 years ago despite being a college dropout. However, when Monarch was formed, he saw his chance to finally have something that he could do that his brothers couldn't and immediately joined Monarch as a research assistant before becoming a researcher himself.
After Ghidorah's death Quetzalcoatl had become surprisingly docile and journeyed to the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico. As the world sorted through the reports from that day it was noticed that the destruction that feathered serpent caused was significantly less than most of the other titans due to it constantly being on the move as opposed to many others that mostly stayed in one place almost as if it was avoiding human population centers. That, combined with how it curiously observed the workers as they constructed outpost 57 around it caused it to become an incredibly popular titan among the general public.
While other researchers for Monarch would have preferred to study more interesting titans like Ahmuluk or Jinshin-mushi, he was perfectly fine with studying the large feathered serpent. After all, it was one of the titans that Monarch knew the most about due to its docile nature allowing them to study it up close far more and far sooner than any of the other titans. Of course, Dr. Cortez didn't forget to brag about being able to touch Quetzalcoatl to Hosé.
He did receive a message earlier regarding a newly awakened titan that was heading towards North America but he wasn't too worried. After all, he wasn't in its flight path and from the report, it was the type that won't attack unless provoked.
From what he learned about it, the titan could spread some sort of black haze similar to that dust that Mothra could use. Only instead of healing things it killed them and caused rapid decay. Apparently it used this haze on the dried up parts of the Aral Sea.
As he was about to take another sip of coffee, an alert suddenly went off on his computer. Putting his coffee down, he checked the monitor to see what the alert was about and immediately noticed Quetzelcoatl's radiation signature starting to rise. Quetzalcoatl's radiation signature rising wasn't too out of the ordinary as it did occasionally rise slightly for a few brief moments before returning to normal.
However, from what his monitor was indicating this was not the case this time. The titan's radiation signature was rising much higher than normal and much faster. The rate Quetzalcoatl's radiation signature was increasing could only mean one thing.
'He's about to wake up.'
Quickly turning to the phone at his desk, he contacted the outpost command. After a few seconds, someone finally picked up.
What's the emergency?
Wasting no time, Alejandro immediately got straight to the point.
"Quetzalcoatl suddenly started waking just now. We need to Initiate the safety protocols immediately." He said with urgency in his voice as he looked out the window in the room and saw the titan Opening its eyes.
Quetzalcoatl then slowly raised its head into the air and twisted its head, as it shook off excess dirt in its feathers before looking around. After a few seconds Quetzelcoatl roared into the air before slithering across the ground towards the edge of the wall that surrounded him. As it approached the wall it lifted its head up like a King Cobra before turning around. It then let out a shriek into the air as its wings unfolded before it lunged its upper body forwards and flapped its wings, taking off and flying over the wall of the outpost before rising into the air as it began flying north.
Seeing what just happened, Alejandro quickly turned his attention back to the phone.
"Get us a flight path of Quetzalcoatl and find out where he's heading, then contact Dr. Russell and inform him of the situation." Alejandro urgently said.
We'll get it done right away Dr. Cortez.
And like that the man at the outpost command hung up, leaving Dr. Cortez frowning anxiously as he looked out the window at the ever shrinking image of Quetzelcoatl as it flew farther and farther away.
"I have a bad feeling about this."

— Monarch transport helicopter: En Route to Toronto Canada 12:48pm —
What a real shit-show today turned out to be.
Mark Russel grimaced in frustration at the events of the last 24 hours. The head of Titan Relief was not having a good day.
The newly discovered titan, "Titanus Yatagarasu", had been flying across the Pacific Ocean for the past several hours. He had already been extremely busy trying to figure out where it was going until Quetzelcoatl suddenly woke up before flying north and hauling ass.
Mark had just been briefed on the timeline of events regarding Yatagarasu four hours ago and was confused by the titan's behavior. He wondered what it could be doing by flying towards North America. It couldn't be looking for food as there were several sources of radiation along its path. However, its behavior indicated that it definitely had a destination in mind.
If the bird's behavior wasn't already confusing enough, one of its bodily functions only made things worse.
Mark had definitely been surprised when he read about what Yatagarasu did to the Aral Sea. From what he read, its wings released a dense black haze that reminded him of the glowing dust that was produced by Mothra. A few hours later, a research crew arrived at the location and began setting up a research outpost before studying the dried up lake bed that Yatagarasu sprayed its black haze over.
Based on Dr. Kiyomi's notes, whatever that black haze is composed of, was capable of rapidly breaking down organic matter and accelerating the rate of decay. All plant life in the massive lake bed had shriveled up and rotted along with any small animals and insects.
While a titan producing a toxic substance was hardly anything new, this was different. While Yatagarasu may have broken down organic matter and caused it to mix with the ground below it similarly to how fertilizer is produced, however the toxic compounds mixed in made it seem like the titan was trying to ensure that nothing survived. There had to be some kind of purpose to it beyond causing rapid decay.
As Mark thought back to his briefing on Yatagarasu earlier, he vaguely remembered reading about how it had some kind of connection to Mothra. As he begins to recall what he knows about the flying Arthropod titan, he halts his train of thought as he suddenly remembers his first encounter with her four months ago, more specifically, a key detail of that event.
'That glowing mist from her wings. It was practically Identical to the stuff from Yatagarasu's wings. Even though the colors were radically different and the effects were the exact opposite, They were practically the same in how they were used.' Mark suddenly realized. 'Wait, Serizawa mentioned some kind of mural depicting Mothra bringing new life to the areas affected by Yatagarasu.'
Mark's thoughts were soon put on pause by the helicopter landing at its destination. Exiting the chopper, he was greeted by captain Barnes.
"Thanks for getting here on such short notice Doctor, I apologize if things are a little chaotic right now. But we have our hands full dealing with evacuation." Captain Barnes explained, gesturing towards the city across the bay. "Dr. Coleman is waiting inside the command center.
…
Entering the command center Mark see's Dr. Sam Coleman and a few other members of G-team standing around a large table with a giant screen on its surface. The screen showed a map of North America with two arrows moving across it. One arrow was flying Northeast while the other was flying west.
"Ok, what's the current situation?" Mark urgently asked.
"Well, shortly after Tetanus Quetzalcoatl woke up he started flying north and from the looks of it, seems to be making his way towards Yatagarasu." Coleman said as he pointed towards the Icon flying northeast towards Toronto. Sure enough Quetzelcoatl was hauling ass towards Toronto.
"How long do we have until they meet?" Mark asked.
"Based on current projections we have nearly two hours before they meet each other over Toronto. Given the limited time frame, we're evacuating as much of the city as we can but we'll only be able to evacuate so much of the city." Barnes responded.
"Assuming Quetzelcoatl is intending to fight Yatagarasu, then it should be possible to scramble a few jets in order to keep the fight contained to the bay and provide assistance to Quetzelcoatl." Mark suggested.
"And if they don't fight?" Barnes asked.
"Then we could use the jets to lure them away out towards Lake Ontario. We know for sure that our jets can outrun them in the air so it shouldn't be too hard."
"Sounds like a plan." Barns replied before turning to leave.
"Are you sure the plan will work?" Sam nervously asked Mark.
"Well it's the best plan we got given the limited time frame."
*2 hours later*
Standing under the cloudy sky, Mark watched in nervous anticipation as the final evacuation aircraft took off from the airport and began flying westward.
It's now only a matter of time before the two titans finally arrive. A nervous trail of sweat ran down his face as his hands nervously shook. He could only hope to god that Titans were there to fight. Turning around he saw Coleman standing beside him with his tablet, monitoring the two titans flying towards the city.
"How much longer until they arrive?" Mark anxiously asked.
"They should be here any second now, distance to impact: 25 hundred meters, 2,000 meters 15 hundred—"
Both Sam and Mark are suddenly forced to cover their ears as they hear a blood curdling shriek in the sky above them alongside a threatening bellow.
"Well, looks like they're going to fight after all." Mark muttered before turning back to Coleman, "Tell G-team its scenario A!" Mark ordered.
Sam nodded his head just before the two felt the air shake from a thundering boom in the sky above them.
After several seconds two massive shapes plummet through the clouds and towards the island below. Mark watches as Quetzalcoatl tried wrapping its body around Yatagarasu as it clawed and pecked him before the two crashed onto one of the hangers at the airport.
Quetzalcoatl recovers quickly and bites down on the crow titan's shoulder, causing it to shriek in pain as it falls backwards before rolling into the water as Quetzalcoatl released him to avoid being pulled in as well. Yatagarasu emerged from the water and turned around before releasing another shriek as he spread out his wings, making its black markings glow red. In response, Quetzalcoatl lifted its head and upper body from the ground like a cobra and held out his claws as he spread out his main front wings and bellowed back.
"What are they doing?" Coleman asked.
"Most likely intimidation displays, trying to make themselves look bigger and appear more threatening." Mark explained.
Yatagarasu started flapping his wings as he leaped towards Quetzalcoatl in a dead-on charge. Quetzalcoatl quickly responded, retracting his wings and ducking down towards the water but was met with the end of the crow titan's tail wing swinging directly into its face, knocking the feathered serpent's head back and causing it to crash directly into the shallow water at the edge of the island, creating a massive splash of sand and water.
Yatagarasu then flew higher into the air before turning around and soaring downward with his talons stretched out.
Quetzalcoatl lifted his head only to be met with the other titan slamming into him and digging their talons into his skin, causing them to hiss in pain as he was dragged farther out into the bay before his head was submerged. Quetzalcoatl desperately tried clawing at Yatagarasu's legs and was able to scratch them just enough to force the three winged titan to release him. Quetzalcoatl quickly lifted his head up out of the water only to be met with a strike from the spines on Yatagarasu's tail wing, knocking him back into the water.
However, Quetzalcoatl was quickly able to twist his body around and lift himself up and out of the water just as Yatagarasu was swooping down with his claws out once again. This time the feathered serpent was prepared and ducked under his opponents talons before twisting his neck and biting down on the tail wing, causing Yatagarasu to shriek in pain as it began flapping its wings frantically.
The Diamond patterns on Yatagarasu's back soon began to glow before Quetzalcoatl spread out his wings and used them like sails to slow down the crow titan and cause it to fall into the bay once more. Quetzalcoatl released the tail wing and pounced towards Yatagarasu's shoulder. However, the crow titan recovered faster than expected and leaped to the right, causing the feathered serpent to miss before getting slammed in the mid-section by Yatagarasu's left wing and knocking the wind out of him before falling back into the water below.
Taking advantage of the opening, Yatagarasu leaped up and grabbed the serpent near the end of its tail before dragging it through the bay as it desperately tried to get its head above water.
Watching this, Mark turned towards Sam anxiously.
"How much longer until G-team gets here? I don't think Quetzalcoatl can hold on for much longer." Mark urgently asked.
"They should be here right about…Now!" Sam said as a series of missiles flew overhead and directly into Yatagarasu's neck. Causing him to shriek in pain, releasing Quetzalcoatl as several jets flew past.
Yatagarasu landed on all fours and shook his head and neck briefly before focusing his gaze on the jets sweeping around as if preparing for another approach. However, he didn't notice Quetzalcoatl's head rising from the water beside him.
Yatagarasu spread out his wings and let out a shriek as it was about to take off. But just as he leaped into the air, Quetzalcoatl sprang forward and slammed into him, slashing at his chest as the serpent wrapped its tail around his body. However, due to the weight difference, Yatagarasu still continued flying forwards as he shrieked in pain.
Quetzelcoatl quickly tried to bite the feathered titan but was met with a powerful peck to the side of his neck, causing him to reel back in pain and spread out its main wings. Yatagarasu then dug his talons into the serpent's body and landed another peck directly into Quetzalcoatl's chest before grabbing the serpents neck as it's body unwraps itself and held the titan in front of himself like a shield just after the jets release their missiles. Resulting in the serpent being pelted with explosions as a hisses in pain.
Once the Jets passed, Yatagarasu began carrying the feathered serpent towards the airport before dropping him down on the runway leaving a large crater in the pavement. Yatagarasu let out a shriek before dropping down directly onto Quetzalcoatl's midsection, knocking the wind out of him once more and causing him to retract his wings. Yatagarasu then grabbed the base of the Quetzalcoatl's neck and began violently shaking and slamming the feathered serpent's head into the ground. After a few seconds the three-winged crow released Quetzalcoatl's neck before getting off of him and turning him onto his stomach. Once on his stomach, Quetzalcoatl let out a weak bellow before Yatagarasu responded by letting out one last violent shriek and delivering a powerful peck to Quetzalcoatl's head-crest that rang with an audible crunch as a large crack appeared on it. The strike caused Quetzelcoatl's head to slam back into the ground as his eyes shut.
Seeing that his opponent was defeated, Yatagarasu spread out his wings and let out a victorious screech into the sky as his black markings glowed a bright red. Once that was done, the titan then crouched down and leaped up into the air before flying off, leaving Quetzalcoatl lying flat on its stomach and unconscious.
Monarch Super Species Profile
Subject: Titanus Quetzalcoatl
Length: 335 meters
Wingspan: 200 meters
Weight: 11,000 metric tons
Behavior: Protector
Range: Worldwide
Appearance: Titanus Quetzalcoatl Is a large serpentine titan similar in build to Titanus Tiamat. Much of this titans body is covered in a hard dull green carapace with a tan under belly. This titan's head is similar in shape to a komodo dragon and possesses some kind of hardened gold crest on the top of the skull behind the eyes and wraps around its head. Behind the head crest is a mane of red feathers that stops at the throat. Moving down its body are a set of small forelimbs possessing three claws each along with a small opposable thumb. This titan also possesses three sets of foldable wings similar to the flying dragon lizard. These wings consist of two large pairs located in the upper body region and a third smaller pair located further down the titan's spine. The edges of each wing is decorated with a series of red feathers that Quetzalcoatl will shake when performing an intimidation display.
Myth: Quetzalcoatl is often depicted as a wind god in many meso-american mythologies such as the Mayans and Aztecs. He also appears in several creation myths describing him as an incarnation of the sun.
The Reality: Quetzalcoatl was one of the many titans who were awakened by Ghidorah's alpha call. Quetzalcoatl emerged in Northern, South America before flying off and causing destruction to many Latin American countries before becoming docile.
This titan's appearance and biology seem to indicate that it shares a common ancestor with Titanus Tiamat as in addition to flight, it seems to also be able to use its wings as flippers of sorts to swim through the water as well.
A/N: So That's the second chapter of Arc 2 finished!
For those of you who are disappointed with the very little focus on Dr. Kiyomi, don't worry. She will have more focus put on her next chapter as well as becoming a recurring character. As for her overall backstory, you're just going to have to wait until next chapter.
I know this chapter is named after Quetzalcoatl and he got his ass kicked. But let me explain, Quetz is definitely not a weak titan, it was simply unfortunate enough to have had to face Yatagarasu.
Yatagarasu is roughly equal to Rodan in terms of fighting ability. In fact they're so equal that a fight could go either way. Rodan has the advantage in weight, defense, and speed. While Yatagarasu has the advantage in Brute strength, intelligence, and adaptability. This would mean that a fight between those two would come down to where they're fighting.
I also added a bit of backstory to Quetzelcoatl by making him be the reason for Camazotz's missing eye.
Sorry for this chapter being so short despite the long waiting time.
Until next time.
