Many thanks to those who read and reviewed this fic. I really appreciated it and this gave me inspiration to work on the next chapter and here, the current story arc is underway, as the semifinals of the tournament is currently ongoing and now we are moments away from results…where the match would reach an unexpected climax…

Well then, read on and enjoy!

Ch. 42: Budō tōnamento part 14

Back at the stadium, the audience were starting to get enveloped in excitement as Bakugo and Kendo put up a good battle as neither one backed away from a good challenge, as she delivered several punches and kicks, and at one point almost sending him near the edge of the arena but he was able to get out of the tight spot and delivered a flurry of counterattacks of his own.

Kendo staggered back after receiving the blows before being pinned down via an armbar, where the referee looks on to see if she is willing to submit, but she somehow escape that predicament and the two teens are on their feet, looking ready to continue their attack on each other, which intrigues the audience, and are chanting in admiration.

"Bakugo! Bakugo!"

"Bakugo! Bakugo!"

"Bakugo! Bakugo!"

"Bakugo! Bakugo!"

"Kendo! Kendo!"

"Kendo! Kendo!"

"Kendo! Kendo!"

"Kendo! Kendo!"

Uraraka, Kirishima and Ojiro were also impressed, as Kendo and Bakugo's match had gotten the audiences' attention and are now clamoring for more, showing that the two teens are good fighters and may present a challenge against the winner of the Uraraka-Suiryu match later on, and the three UA Academy students are unsure who would emerge the winner of this match.

"Bakugo is equally matched with Kendo..."

"Yeah…"

"Both are good fighters…"

"But Bakugo is more manlier though…"

"But Kendo might have the advantage…"

"But at this point there's no telling who would win…"

"Seriously?"

"Really?"

"From my point of view…"

As the rest of the audience are cheering on, Mount Lady is feeling excited as she is impressed with how Kendo reacted after getting an initial beating from Bakugo and now she is poised to fight back, but Kamui Woods told her to stop acting like a kid as her antics would attract unwanted attention from the audience.

Hawks, however, said that there is a possibility that this match might end in a draw, which Kamui, Mount Lady and Edge Shot glanced at Hawks, discreetly asking what made him say that such a scenario might happen, which the winged hero said it is just a hunch, causing the trio to sag in dismay.

"Just a hunch. Nothing spectacular."

"…"

"…"

"…"

"What…? Did I say something…?"

"Just shut up and watch."

"And don't say anything."

"You're ruining the excitement."

Hawks smirked as he continue to eat his food while watching the match, as he is sure that the match between Kendo and Bakugo would be a difficult one to call as neither one is backing away and given the tenacity and ferocity of their actions, it is now difficult to predict who will emerge victorious, and this match ending in a draw is a safe bet in Hawks' mind.

The organizers overseeing the tournament were surprised by the audience reception, hearing it clearly that the audience are rooting for Bakugo and Kendo, and they commented that perhaps that in the next tournament they should invite even teenagers as the audience appeared to be invested in this kind of match, which the rest seemingly agreed.

"The audience reaction…"

"This has to be the biggest reception in years…"

"Maybe because those two are teenagers…?"

"Could be…"

"Then the next tournament we should include teenagers…"

"Right!"

"Right!"

"Right!"

Meanwhile, Fubuki, Mountain Ape and Eyelashes were watching as well, seeing that Kendo is doing well and though the teens are not using their Quirks due to tournament rules, they were somewhat impressed with Kendo's abilities, with Mountain Ape suggesting to Fubuki that they should recruit Kendo as her fighting skills and her Quirk would be a good addition to the Blizzard Group, which Eyelashes shared the same sentiment.

"I would suggest that we recruit Kendo."

"I agree. Her fighting skills and her Quirk would be a good asset to our group."

"…"

"She can be a good asset if given the right approach…"

"Mountain is right…"

"…"

"Boss?"

"Boss?"

"…"

The scene shifts back to the arena where both Bakugo and Kendo are still fighting, where both appear to be evenly matched, in tenacity and ferocity, in which you can see that their faces were bruised and swelling, while also bleeding (Bakugo was busted on his nose, blood dripping from his nostril; Kendo is also bleeding as the left side of her temple is bleeding while her lower left lip was BUSTED, and blood dripping), yet neither are showing signs of intimidation.

As Bakugo went for the next move, Kendo did the same, and as both teens locked arms, the audience were heavily invested that they are now cheering for both teens, slowly eclipsing the support from Suiryu as the chants for Bakugo and Kendo got louder and louder at each passing minutes.

"Bakugo! Bakugo!"

"Bakugo! Bakugo!"

"Bakugo! Bakugo!"

"Bakugo! Bakugo!"

"Kendo! Kendo!"

"Kendo! Kendo!"

"Kendo! Kendo!"

"Kendo! Kendo!"

Snakefist Snek and Lightning Max were equally surprised to see the audience reaction, and couldn't believe that Bakugo and Kendo would exhibit such charisma, and are also divided in opinion on who would emerge the winner in this match, and with Max commenting that if Snek were to face Kendo in this match, the winner would be decided on who has the better technique and stamina.

Snek nodded and admitted that Kendo would pose a challenge as he seems her a difficult opponent seeing how well she fought and that her skills rivaled his, and conceded that this would be a total slugfest in terms of martial arts skills and the battle of wills, as his martial arts skills might be on equal levels with Kendo's.

"So you concede to the fact that you met someone who might be your equal?"

"Looks like it."

"That's rare hearing from you, Snek."

"I have to admit…Kendo is a good fighter. Her skills may be equal to mine."

"But you think you might stand a chance?"

"Who knows…"

"…"

"…"

In the next minute, Kendo did a roundhouse kick which Bakugo deflect and caught her leg, but she managed to grab him and attempted a rolling throw by dragging him to the arena floor, but Bakugo held on and tried to resist, realizing that they are near the edge of the arena, but both teens loses their balance and accidentally fell off the arena.

As the referee was there to see it, he had a difficult situation to call and told the cameraman to replay the footage, where other officials checked the footage, in which it showed that both Bakugo and Kendo fell to the ground outside the arena at the same time, and the judges, about eight of them, are divided in opinion, as half insisted that both teens be eliminated and proclaim Suiryu and Uraraka as the finalists, but the other half reiterated that they should hold off first and see what the results of the Suiryu-Uraraka match be.

"I say that Bakugo and Kendo be eliminated…"

"Yeah!"

"Yeah!"

"Yeah!"

"No…let's wait for the results of the other match! It is unfair to declare Suiryu and Uraraka as finalists! If a winner of that match is decided…then we will figure out about the Bakugo-Kendo situation."

"Yeah!"

"Yeah!"

"Yeah!"

The audience were surprised by the turn of events, as they didn't expect that this match would end in a draw, and wondered what would happen if the same happens in the next match, which made the audience ponder what the organizers would do about something unprecedented. However, majority of the audience continue to chant for Bakugo and Kendo.

"Bakugo! Bakugo!"

"Bakugo! Bakugo!"

"Bakugo! Bakugo!"

"Bakugo! Bakugo!"

"Kendo! Kendo!"

"Kendo! Kendo!"

"Kendo! Kendo!"

"Kendo! Kendo!"

Mount Lady, Kamui Woods and Edge Shot were equally surprised, and what's more, Hawks' prediction came true, which the Winged Hero smirked and said that his hunch was right, and now the tournament organizers are scrambling on what to do, as he had a feeling that this is something that the organizers did not expect, and he feels that it would not be fair if they decided to eliminate Bakugo and Kendo just to make a quick resolution.

"No way…"

"So it was a draw…"

"Its just like what Hawks predicted…"

"Heh…"

"Hawks…how did you…?"

"Yeah, how did you know this would happen…?"

"Come on…tell us!"

"Heh…"

Mountain Ape and Eyelashes were glancing at the organizers, seeing that they are scrambling to come up with a way to address the situation, which clearly shows that the match ending in a draw during the semifinals is unexpected, with both Mountain Ape and Eyelashes commenting that the organizers have not foreseen something like this.

Fubuki then commented that it would be best if the organizers would put the Bakugo-Kendo results on hold until the results of the Suiryu-Uraraka match is shown, saying that with the Bakugo-Kendo match ending in a draw, there is now a possibility that the same may happen in the next match, and if that happens, that's where the real situation starts.

"What?"

"Really?"

"From my point of view. It would be best if the organizers hold off the results of the first match until the second match gets a clear winner."

"Makes sense…"

"And if that is the case…"

"Whoever wins the second match…then the organizers can come up with a solution…"

"I see…"

"Of course…"

"…"

To Be Continued...
