Disclaimer: This is the sixteenth story in FTR. I only write these when the urge comes to me. It's kinda like the way Stephen King wrote the Dark Tower books. I have another great song in this one. It's an old country song called "You Have the Right to Remain Silent", by Perfect Stranger. I actually heard this on the radio the other day. I was really estatic. I LOVE this song!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, read on. This is another Kim/Jase story. Sorry, Kim/Tommy fans out there!
You Have the Right To Remain Silent
By Julia
Jason Scott was watching Kimberly Hart from across the dance floor. She had just broken up with Curtis Taylor, he knew this for a fact, his best friend was Curt's cousin. It wasn't a bad breakup, from what he understood, Kimberly was having feelings for somebody else. Curtis was hurt, but not enough for the pair not to be friends. Jason was glad, however, he'd wanted Kimberly for a long time, and he was going to make sure that he got her now.
He approached her as some country song started on the system. He held out his arm to his friend. ''Kim, would you like to dance?'' He asked her, blushing furiously.
Kimberly grinned. ''Sure, Jase. Let's go.''
The song was a slow one, and she leaned her head on his shoulder. Jason could hardly believe that this treasure was in his arms. He was now working up the courage to say what he had to say....
Can I have this dance,
my, you're lookin' pretty
Is there somethin' wrong
Did he leave you hurtin'
I don't mean to pry
but that tear in your eye gave you away
If you don't want to talk,
we'll keep it quiet
But sometimes a heartache hurts worse
if you hide it
I think there's a chance one slow dance
Might ease the pain
You have the right to remain silent
Anything that you say as I hold you against me
Will forever be a secret between us two
I've been wanting you but you didn't know it
And now that he's gone, at last I can show it
If your heart is tired for the rest of your life
lay your love on me
So many times my eyes have held you
Tonight, please give my heart that chance
If you don't feel the need for conversation
We'll just let our hearts talk while we dance
You have the right to remain silent
Anything that you say as I hold you against me
Will forever be a secret between us two
I've been wanting you but you didn't know it
And now that he's gone, at last I can show it
If your heart is tired for the rest of your life
lay your love on me
As the song ended, Jason and Kimberly let go, Jason reluctantly. Kimberly said, ''Thanks for the dance, Jase. I'm gonna get some punch. Do you want some?''
Jason looked into her pretty face. She was so beautiful! He opened his mouth, and hoped that his changing voice wouldn't betray him. ''Kimmie, I'd like to talk to you for a second. I know you just broke up with Curtis, and that we're only thirteen, but I want to know if you like me at all. Because I really like you, and I wanted to know if you'd like to be my girl.''
It was all out there. Kimberly smiled at him. Jason couldn't tell what was going on in her mind. She said, ''Jason, I would love to be your girl.''
Jason smiled from ear to ear, and kissed her on the mouth, his first kiss. He didn't know it, but it was Kimberly's first, too.
