Odysseus

When I first glimpsed him

I thought he was savage

The next time I laid eyes on him

I thought he was a god

Then he spoke

And I fell upon his every word

So well put and balanced

That man

That cunning, wily man

He won me over

Winning my heart and my soul

I wanted to be his

I wanted him to be mine

And I desired to make it my time

So I tried to get him to stay

Stay here and just be

But all he did was go

Go far away from me

He flattered me

But didn't think to court,

He called me beautiful

But still he wanted more

He wanted his wife

But more than that his home

He wanted to see his son

But even more his land

All that he wanted was in his homeland

Nothing he wanted was here

He wanted not me

He did not want the throne

He wanted nothing more

But all that was his home

So on, on he went

Far, far away

To his home he makes in Ithaca

Never a thought to stay

Never once did he look back

He just continued on

On to Ithaca and his home

So there went the great warrior

That had won my heart

He not only left Phaeacia

But he also left me

And now that he is no longer here

The one I love is gone

But if he is happy

Then I'll let him be

And because he has departed

There is nothing now I fear

For losing a love

Is losing someone dear

A/N: This is a poem I just found that I had written when I was 13. It's from Nausicca's point of view and feelings about Odysseus leaving her.
