This sequel takes place sometime after my first fanfic. There will be more returning characters from the show and my first fanfic along with more new ones in this story.
Chapter 30 A New Member In The Bunker
The Next morning everybody got up a bit later than usual and all headed for the kitchen for breakfast. Ava was wearing Dean's bathrobe which was a bit big on her while Dean was in his jeans and undershirt as was Sam and Adam while Charlie was wearing her long pajama shirt with a pajama pants that didn't even matched and being around the guys who were like her brothers she was comfortable being in just her pjs around them. Ava cooked some breakfast for everybody making eggs, grits and sausages and Dean made the coffee. The two of them were just glowing as they did so making lovy exchanges which each other like calling one another darling or hun and other romantic names between lovers, while the others just sat and waited for their food and rolling their eyes.
"Boy, this is like watching a cheesy romantic chick flick from the Hallmark channel" Adam said who was over it already.
"Yeah, or like watching your parents get all lovy dovy with each other and feeling a dose of nausea" Charlie replied.
Neither Dean nor Ava acted fazed by the remarks that they heard but just went on with their business.
"Don't mind them sweetie pie, they just don't understand what goes on between two people crazy about each other" Dean said still glowing not even glancing their way but only looking at Ava.
"I guess that just don't understand about us" Ava replied back also glowing.
"Boy, if they are going to be like this the whole time she's here, I need to get myself a barf bag" Adam replied teasingly but this didn't faze the two lovebirds either as they kept going about their business.
"Well, I get it, am almost the same way with Gwen except maybe not so nauseating" Sam teased.
Dean just turned to Sam and gave him a "whatever" look. "Oh please, I remember the times I have to listen to you and Gwen chat on the phone, took you forever to get off the phone. Or how sappy you two are together, I had to prevent myself from puking, you two are far worse than me and Ava here, so don't even" he replied.
"Don't even? Never heard you use that phrase, you really have been around Ava too much" Sam replied sarcastically.
"So what if I have, she's my gal afterall" Dean said.
"Yeah and he's my guy" Ava replied back as the two went up and gave each other a quick kiss on the lips as Sam just rolled his eyes.
After they finished cooking the food, they all sat down and ate it along with the coffee. After breakfast, everybody helped clean up and then Ava decided to go and take a shower before getting changed and she left the room. Dean took this time to talk to Adam and Charlie about Ava living in the bunker with all of them and although they were both a bit surprised by this new change after thinking it over and processing it all in, they were onboard and quite happy for Dean as they have always liked Ava and felt she was perfect for him and even hoped he would settle down with her eventually. Ava eventually returned, entering the main room after showering and getting dressed and was now wearing typical blue jeans and a grayish green sweatshirt, old sneakers and no makeup on her face still looking beautiful. Both Adam and Charlie were grinning like a couple of happy kids and Ava could pick up that something happened while she was away as even Sam was giving her an awkward look.
"Okay, what did I miss already?" Ava asked curiously.
"You haven't missed a thing, you look great as usual there, then again you always look great to me" Dean replied with a glowing smile on his face as he went over to Ava and gave her a little kiss.
"Okay, something definitely is going on, do you want to tell me what is already?" Ava replied with a confused look as she could really sense something was up.
"Nothing to worry about but I do have talk over with you alone" Dean told her in a reassuring way as he had his arms wrapped around her like a loving couple. He then turned to the others.
"Hey, guys you all don't mind giving us some privacy?" he asked them and that was there cue to leave. With that they all started to head out of the main room. Adam and Charlie went up to Ava on their way out both smiling.
"We just want to let you know that we are all on board over whatever Dean here has say" said Charlie still smiling and acting like an eager kid about to get ice cream as she gave Ava a nice playful nudge on the shoulder.
"That goes the same for me too" Adam said also smiling.
"Okay guys, you can take off now" Dean told them trying to rush them out and they all left the room.
"Okay what was that about Dean, what do you have to say to me?" Ava said ready to get to the bottom of it already.
Dean just placed both his hands on her shoulders facing her looking so in love, then he let go took a deep breath and prepared to say what he had to say feeling a bit nervous.
"Look Ava, I just wanted to tell you that after everything that happened with the kidnapping by those reapers, then you and Sam going off to purgatory and all of us coming out on top like always just made me realize how much you mean to me" he told her.
Ava looked touched. "Oh, Dean…" she was about to say but Dean cut her off.
"I mean it, when I was being held by those reapers and you were with Sam in purgatory, I have to admit I was scared of the thought of not seeing any of you ever again, and the thought of losing you Ava, I knew that was something I really couldn't handle. I guess it made me see how important you are in my life and made think about our relationship" he said.
Ava still looked touched as Dean reached down and placed her hands into his and she felt anxious and nervous at the same time as a part of her knew where this was going.
"Dean, just exactly what are you saying?" she still couldn't help but ask him.
"I'm saying that our relationship is quite important to both of us and I see how much I'm truly ready to commit to it. I mean in the past we said we would discuss someday if we are ready to really take our relationship to the next direction it wasn't something we were going to decide anytime soon but after everything that's happened I see now life too short to keep just waiting around, I know now that I'm ready for that next direction right now" Dean told her.
Ava's eyes lit up as she squeezed Dean's hand and felt a rush of excitement knowing what's about to happen, but she still just wanted to hear Dean say it.
"Dean, you mean what I think you mean?" she asked him.
Dean just nodded his head. "Yes, Ava, I'm ready for us to have something more permanent between us rather than continue to just see each every once and while" he said then he swallowed before he spoke up again. "Ava, I want you to move into the bunker with me and of course the others if that's what you would like too" he finished.
Ava's eyes just lit up as she was taken aback and since she didn't think this day would be the day that this discussion would happen even though she knew it would have to happen someday but just not today. She just smiled and had a surprise look on her face trying to really process what she just heard.
"What, you mean you really want me to move in with you?" she asked him excitedly.
Dean nodded his head with a grin on his face.
"Yeah, I really do, Ava, I'm ready" he told her.
"You mean right now?" Ava asked still excited.
"Whenever you're ready, right now or next week, I just know is I'm ready for more than just getting together every now and then, I want you here with me all the time, I know this is a big step for the both of us, but I just know we can do it" Dean said.
Ava paused still processing all of this in and didn't seem to know what to say as tried to say something before she finally got the words in.
"Dean, I really don't what to say" she told him.
"You can say yes, you will move with me for a start" Dean said.
"Yes, yes, I will move in with you" she said all excitedly as she rushed and hugged Dean who hugged her right back and then they kissed each other passionately for several seconds before stopping but still had their arms wrapped around each other.
"Dean are you sure the others are okay with this?" she asked him.
"They are all on board as I told you before, I talked it over with all of them first and they have our blessing for you to move in. Charlie likes the idea of having another chick in this place someone she can have all that sappy chick flick moments with" Dean said.
"Well, I like all of them too, it really feels like family whenever I'm with you guys" she said.
"Well, now consider yourself a new member of this family" Dean said.
"That will be an honor, you know I love you" she told Dean giving him a sexy look as she wrapped her arms around his neck and gave him another passionate kiss before she pulled away.
"Ditto for me" Dean said as she still had her arms wrapped around his neck and his arms around her waist looking at each other love a couple of lovebirds before they finally let go of each other.
"Oh, when do I move in, I mean right now or whatever?" she asked him eagerly.
"You can move in anytime you want even today if that's what you want" Dean told her. Ava still had that excited look on her face like a kid going to see their favorite amusement park.
"I can stay a few days but this weekend I want to go and tell my folks the good news, plus I wanted to see them again after everything happened with those reapers and purgatory, didn't tell them the whole details just that I wasn't able to call them because of case I was on and it was out of my control for a while but I handled it. That alone scared them enough, I think it would be great if I saw them and person and can give them the good news while I'm there" she said.
"That will be great, I'm sure they would be relieved that I finally made a permanent commitment to you. The last time I was there your old man nearly gave me the third degree on my intentions about our relationship" Dean said.
"You know, you could come down with me to tell my folks. They would love having you again, they really liked you despite the interrogation my dad gave you" Ava said with a grin on her face.
"Well, they're not so bad themselves, really you're folks are pretty cool, I had a good time the last time I was at their place" Dean said.
"Can't wait to tell the good news to the others" Ava said.
"Me too" Dean replied.
Soon they called everybody back into the room and they all came out eager to hear the good news although Adam and Charlie were eavesdropping and already knew what was about to come. Ava went up to them excitedly all gleeful.
"Guys, I just wanted you let you know the good news" she told them.
"You said yes" Charlie cried out excitedly as she just couldn't help herself.
Ava nodded her head. "Yes and Dean told me you are all on board with this, this makes me so happy, I'm grateful to be welcomed here all that matters to me is to be with Dean" she told them as Dean had her arm around her shoulder and her arm was around his waist.
"Well, we're glad to have you here, we always knew you and Dean were meant for each other" Sam said.
"Yeah, same goes for me, nice to have another girl in this place.
Besides, we see how much Dean cares for you, the only thing we care about its that you make him happy" Charlie added.
"Everybody else summed it up for me" Adam added.
"Thanks guys really" Ava said gleefully.
"Who would have thought it though, our Dean here finding himself a woman and now living together, I wouldn't have in a million years just one year ago" Sam replied.
"Neither would I" Charlie chimed in.
Dean just looked a bit bashful like an embarrassed kid. "Oh, come on guys, you make it sound like I never been a relationship in my whole entire life" he said.
"Well, mostly your whole entire life" Sam replied teasingly.
"Yeah, from what I heard Dean, your track record hasn't been so good" Charlie replied.
"Okay, okay, so I've had a couple of hit and misses in the past but that all change when I met Ava here, she's the real deal" Dean replied turning to her with a lovingly look his arm still around her.
"Aah, true love" Charlie teased.
"Yeah, I have to say it could get nauseating seeing you making googly eyes at each other all time, sucking face every time I turn around" Adam said also teasingly.
"Then look the other way or get used to it, because me and Ava here are going to be sucking face and more a lot" Dean replied teasingly as he and Ava giggled.
Adam just rolled his eyes and Charlie gave him a little nudge in a shoulder.
"Okay, okay all, I just wanted to first to let you know welcome to the family" Sam said to Ava.
"Thanks again" Ava replied as Dean finally removed his arm from her shoulder and she and Sam gave little hug.
Then she soon was hugged by Charlie and then Adam as they all went out their way to make her feel welcomed. Later that evening, they even celebrated by taking Ava out to the local diner for dinner and afterwards they headed for the local bar for a drinks where they were greeted by Reese the friendly bartender who chatted them up and Reese remembered Ava who had come in the place whenever she was in town with Dean. Dean feeling so excited about Ava moving in that he even informed Reese of the good news and he congratulated both Dean and Ava. At the bar, Dean and Ava played a game of pool while Sam, Adam and Charlie just sat down and watched. They hung out at the bar for a few hours and before they knew it, it was getting late so they left and returned to the bunker.
Late that night when it was time to get ready for bed, everybody said their goodnights and Sam, Adam and Charlie once again told Ava it was good to have her there. Then Dean and Ava headed back to his bedroom which will from then on be their bedroom. They once again made passionate love and then cuddled together still talking about their excitement of this new stage in their relationship as well as the worries and fears but in the end, they knew this was the best choice as they really ready for the kind of commitment. They soon fell asleep in each other's arms as Dean dreamt of happy times they were going to have living together.
The days passed on as usual with Ava now being an official new member inside the bunker household. She would get up before everybody else does, cook breakfast, sometimes in Dean's old shirt, clean up afterwards getting Dean to help her to the other's shock. She did the grocery shopping and fixed dinner like a doting housewife. She and Dean would all affectionate with each other, kissing and hugging a lot like a newlywed couple truly in love sometimes in front of the others who would start to get nauseated at the lovy dovy couple as they called them. The two would sometimes go out at night and not come home until nearly midnight hanging out at the bar, playing a game of pool dancing to music on the jukebox. She was basically like a breathe of fresh air, she could play poker with the guys or hang out with Charlie who loved having another woman in the bunker and they even talked about having a girl night just with each other.
Then the weekend came, and Ava and Dean left the bunker that morning heading to visit Ava's parents to tell them the good news although Dean was a still a bit nervous having to face them but Ava reassured him that they would be thrilled since they already like him anyway. After hours of driving, they finally arrived to their destination and once again were greeted by her parents with warmth and affection and once again their dog Sparky ran up to Dean as if he was glad to see him again and Dean reached down to pet the dog. Once inside and in the living room, Ava couldn't wait to make the announcement over her moving into the bunker with Dean and his brothers and Charlie as a new step of their commitment.
As Ava predicted, her parents were thrilled and congratulated the couple and ran up to hug Ava and Dean although her father just shook Dean's hand. They all hung out in the living room to talk and just have a bonding moment with the parents. Sometime later that day, Dean was alone again with Phil in the den watching TV, while Ava was helping her mom in the kitchen, and they had their own little discussion.
"You know, it's great that you are finally taking your relationship with my daughter more seriously and is now committed" he told Dean.
"Yeah, well Ava is special person, and I'm truly lucky to have her in my life and I saw that I was really ready to share it with her" he told him.
Phil just smiled as he took another shot of his can of beer. "I'm just glad our last talk had some effects on your decision" he said.
"Well, our talk certainly helped but I think deep down I already knew it just wasn't ready to make big change as I guess it scared me a bit but I'm no longer have any fears about committing to Ava" Dean told him.
"That's good because all we want is Ava to be happy and we and our only wish is you to give her that" Phil said.
"That I can do, I assure you sir, I would never hurt her" Dean replied.
Phil just nodded his head. "Good, but there is one more thing I'm been thinking about ever since you two announced your living arrangement" he said looking seriously.
"What is it?" Dean asked feeling a bit worried although he didn't know why.
"I'm been wondering that now that you two have decided to settle down with each other, have you ever thought about your future together?" Phil asked.
"Our future, Phil I'm not sure I know what you mean, we just decided Ava will stay at the bunker with me and my brothers and our friend Charlie, we are just taking this one step at a time" Dean replied.
"I understand that Dean, I know how much you feel about each other and how committed you are and even though this may be a bit too soon to ask, I do have to wonder about your future plans, I mean there may come a time that you two might think about marriage" Phil said.
Dean just swallowed looking a bit nervous feeling a lump in this throat over the word marriage and neither he nor Ava thought that far ahead. In fact, they never intended to worry about what's in store for them in the far into the future just live in the moment and see what happens. "Marriage?" he asked looking like he was caught in a mouse trap and briefly paused. "Hey, look Phil like I said we just went from living together this is way too soon for me and Ava to even consider" he went on.
"Hey, I know it may seem too soon for you now, but face it Dean, I know my daughter well and I know no matter how strong and independent she may seem, she's more like us then she cares to admit and maybe not now but someday way in the future she may want a deeper commitment in your relationship like marriage and possibly a family. Now I know that's between the two of you to discuss but if that time ever comes you may want to re-evaluate your life" Phil said.
Dean was still taking all of this in as he was beginning to feel more and more cornered. "And how do you suggest I do that?" he asked him.
"Well, I mean thinking about both of your lives as hunters, do you plan on spending the rest of your lives doing that especially if one day you may want to have a family or change course. I know Ava may not plan on spending her whole life being a hunter if she found the right person to settle down with or have a family with, you can say she get's that from me. I knew the moment I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Sharon that my life as a hunter had to end. That was just a chapter in my life that needed to put behind me so I can have a new one with starting a family. It was a tough call, but I made it and found myself a job I love and raised a family that I would never trade anything for" Phil told him.
Dean just swallowed again feeling the pressure from Ava's dad, but he wasn't going to give in but just express how he feels honestly. "I'm very glad for you Phil but with me and Ava, we're not ready to plan that far ahead. We believe in just taking it one step at a time and only thinking about the moment and see where it leads. I can't say for sure where this will lead for me and Ava only that I do love her and know that I want to share a life with her right now and hopefully forever and she feels the same about me. As for hunting, that is my life and I could never think about giving it up ever and Ava understands that and accepts that about me because she's all about that life too and I accept that about her. As for the rest of the stuff you said having a family of our own, I just don't know, never thought about it and can't say that for sure too. That's the best answer I can give you right now" he finished feeling so relieved and nervous at the same time.
Was his answer good enough for him, was he hoping that we would say he would want to settle down permanently with Ava like marriage and raise a family like he did with Ava's mother. He just sat there silently watching Phil's expression. Phil just paused for a moment like he was in thought before he finally spoke up.
"Well, I guess that is a good enough answer for now. At least you were honest about it, and I respect that" Phil told him.
"Thanks sir" Dean said feeling relieved but then Phil spoke up again.
"Hey, now don't get me wrong, I still know my girl well and knowing Ava, I have to let you know, there may come a time she will want more than just living together and playing house, but marriage and kids may be on her mind. Now I don' expect you two to get married anytime soon after you just moved in together. That could be a long while until you two consider such a thing, but I do want you just want you to consider thinking ahead to what will happen when such a time may come for something even more permanent now that you and my daughter want to share a life together forver. This kind of thing may come up and what happens if and I mean if kids come into the play" Phil finished then paused for a moment before starting up again.
"Don't assume it could never happen, don't know what changes that may happen in your relationship in the far out future. Where do you see your life with my daughter then especially regarding your lives as hunters. You may not be able to give it up and I'm not saying for sure that you should but Ava might want to. She may not expect you to give up hunting if that time came but what do you see yourself doing if that time came and how will you being able to make it work is the question? Please Dean, I know it's still early in your relationship, but I hope you just consider thinking about what I'm saying is that's all regards to your future with my daughter" he finally finished.
Dean just nodded and said, "I will sir, you've given me a lot to think about".
"Well, I hope so Dean because I really do like you and think you could be good for my Ava" he told him as he slapped his shoulder in friendly way.
After their conversation was over, Dean enjoyed his time with the rest of the family and his future with Ava was never brought up again. Dean spent the entire weekend just hanging out with Ava or her parents, helping Ava with the dishes, petting the dog, watching the game with Ava's dad and he was treated like another member of the family, like the son they always wanted almost. Then the weekend was over and on a Monday morning, Ava and Dean headed out to return to the bunker. They said their goodbyes to the parents and Sharon gave Dean a nice hug while Phil gave him a handshake and Dean even gave Sparky a nice pet behind the ears as he said his goodbyes to the dog. They then headed back into the car and drove off.
"Wow, it's always good seeing my folks again, when I'm with them I can't help feeling like a little girl again and when I leave, I already start to miss them" Ava said as they were driving off.
"Yeah, I felt like I really belonged" Dean told her.
"Well, they feel the same about you, my folks really do like you, Dean" Ava told him.
"I really like them" Dean said to her then he turned to her giving her a look like he wanted to say something, and Ava could sense it.
"What's wrong Dean, what is it?" she asked him curiously.
"Oh, nothing, I just thinking how much I'm glad you are a part of my life, and we get to share our lives together and I will never want you not there anymore" Dean told her in a lovingly tone.
