Once inside Oscorp, Peter was looking around. While the outside looked almost like Avengers Tower, maybe a bit smaller, the inside looked busy. Employees were walking all over the place. He was about to keep moving when the desk clerk called him.
"Excuse me." The lady said.
"What?" Peter asked.
"Can I help you?" She asked.
"I don't know. I'm here to see Dr. Connors." Peter said.
"Right. You'll find yourself to the left." She said, but Peter has a confused look. "You are here for the internship?"
"Yeah. Yeah." Peter lied.
"Okay. You'll find your badge to the left." She said again, gesturing to the name badges. Peter looked through them trying to find one. "Are you having trouble finding yourself?"
"No. Yeah, I got it." Peter said, grabbing a badge.
"Okay... Mr. Guevara." The lady said.
"Gracias." Peter said, in Spanish.
"De nada." She said back.
"Welcome to Oscorp." The announcer said. "Born from the mind of our founder, Norman Osborn... the Oscorp Tower houses 108 floors of innovation. Our scientific minds are pushing the boundaries of defence, biomedical... and chemical technologies. The future lies within."
Peter went to a group of other interns. When the tour guide came up, it was one that Peter knew. It was Gwen Stacy. Peter quickly hid within the group, trying to keep out of sight.
"Welcome to Oscorp." Gwen said. "I'm Gwen Stacy, a senior at Midtown Science and head intern to Dr. Connors. I'll be with you for the duration of your visit. Where I go, you go. That's the rule. Remember that, all will be fine. If you forget that..." she was cut off when a commotion was heard downstairs.
"Listen!" A man said. "Look, listen. Tell them Rodrigo Guevara is here. Just tell them... Rodrigo Guevara is here! My name's Rodrigo!" Peter felt guilty for taking his badge.
"I guess I don't need to tell you what happens if you forget." Gwen said, trying to break the awkwardness. "Shall we?" She led the group to the lab where she worked. "Come around this way."
A man with one arm came up to the group, one that Peter saw on a picture. The same man who worked with his father, Curt Connors.
"Good afternoon, Gwen." Connors said.
"Dr. Connors." Gwen said.
"Welcome." Curt said. "My name is Dr. Curtis Connors. Yes, in case you're wondering, I'm a southpaw. I'm not a cripple... I'm a scientist, and the world's foremost authority on herpetology. That's reptiles, for those of you who don't know. Like the Parkinson's patient... who watches on in horror as her body... slowly betrays her, or the man with macular degeneration... whose eyes grow dimmer each day, I long to fix myself. I want to create a world without weakness. Anyone care to venture a guess just how?" An intern raised his hand. "Yes."
"Stem cells?" The intern asked.
"Promising." Curt said. "But the solution... I'm thinking of is more radical." But no one had a clear answer. "No one?
"Cross-species genetics." Everyone turned and saw Peter. Curt looked intrigued while Gwen looked at the list on her clipboard, trying to find Peter's name. "Person gets Parkinson's,when the brain cells that produce dopamine start to disappear. But a zebra fish has the ability to regenerate cells on command. If you could give this ability to the woman you're talking about, that's that. She's... She's curing herself."
"Yeah, you just have to look past the gills on her neck." An intern joked, causing the group to laugh.
"And you are...?" Connors asked.
"He's one of Midtown Science's... ...best and brightest." Gwen said.
"Really?" Connors asked.
"Second in his class." Gwen said.
"Second?" Peter asked.
"Yeah." Gwen said.
"Sure about that?" Peter asked again.
"I'm pretty sure." Gwen said. Suddenly, Connors got an alert on his phone.
"I'm afraid duty calls." Connors said. "I'll leave you in the more-than-capable hands of Miss Stacy. Nice meeting you all." He finished then walked away.
"If you'd like to gather round." Gwen said.
The interns gathered and watched a hologram of a tree.
"Welcome to Oscorp's tree of life." The announcer said. "Our planet's tree of life is immense. At Oscorp's Cross-Species Division..." Peter took this opportunity to leave, but Gwen followed him.
"Hi." Gwen said, making Peter turn around. "What are you doing, 'Rodrigo'?"
"Oh, yeah." Peter said, remembered that he had a badge on.
"What are you doing here?" Gwen asked.
"I work here." Peter said. "I don't. I was gonna say I work here... but it seems like you do work here. So you know that I don't."
"You following me?" Gwen asked.
"No, I'm not following you, no." Peter said. "I had no idea you worked here."
"Why would you be here?" Gwen asked again.
"I just snuck in because... I love science." Peter said
"You love science." Gwen stated.
"I'm passionate about it." Peter said.
"So you snuck in...?" Gwen was about to ask before looking at the group. "I have to lead this tour group. I'll ask you more about this later. Do not get me in trouble."
"I promise you I won't." Peter said.
"Stay with the group." Gwen warned, before turning her attention to the group. "All right, guys? I'm gonna take you to the bioreactor room now."
Peter backed up, not really looking where he was going until he bumped into a man and his folder out of his hand.
"Sorry. Yo. Sorry." Peter said, picking up the folder.
But once he picked it up, he saw the same symbol that was on his dad's folder on the one he had. A hand grabbed the folder as man and looked at each other before walking off. Peter looked around to see if he was being watched before following the man. Peter looked at the man while hiding behind a corner as the man put the code on the keypad. The door opened as two scientists exited the room before the three men walked off. Peter went to the keypad and entered the code as the man did before entering the room.
Once inside, Peter saw a machine picking up cartridges and then placing them in containers. He saw another machine working on what appeared to be webbing of some kind. In another room, he saw spiders that have made webs. Peter pulled on a web string, which caused a chain reaction that made the spiders fall on him. Quickly, he shook his body and wiped his hands down, desperately trying to get the spiders off him. Breathing heavily, he fear that the worst was over.
Curt Connors was talking with the same man that bumped into Peter earlier. His name was Rajit Ratha(AN: that was the name that was shown when I looked it up.)
"We received the results from the mRNA sequences this morning." Connors said. "They were disappointing."
"Define "disappointing." Ratha said, more as a statement than a question.
"Another dead end." Connors said. "It's the decay rate algorithm. And this is to be expected."
"Expected? You said you were close." Ratha said.
"We are close, but it's gonna take time." Connors said.
"He doesn't have time." Ratha said. "Norman Osborn is dying, Dr. Connors. Save him. Or we'll both lose our heads."
Peter was walking in the hallway, unaware that Gwen was looking straight at him. Peter walked back in the room where Gwen looked at him with a face that said 'you had one job.' Peter was fumbling with his words, trying to come up with an excuse.
"All right, give me the badge." Gwen said, holding out her hand. "Give it to me."
Peter looked down in defeat. However, he didn't notice or feel a single spider crawling on the back collar of his jacket.
"Sorry." Peter said.
The spider crawled on his neck and with all it's strength bit Peter's neck. Peter felt this and let out a sharp gasp as he felt it. Gwen looked back briefly before going back to the group. Peter left the building, rubbing the pain on his neck.
Later at night, Peter was on the subway sleeping. During this time, he felt as if alarms were going off in his head. Nearby, a man looked down and saw Peter's sleeping form. Very gently, the man set his beer bottle on Peter's forehead, making sure it stayed before pulling his hand back. On the bottle, a single water droplet traveled down the bottle. The second it landed on Peter's forehead, his eyes shot open and threw the bottle away. Suddenly, he jumped to the roof of the train, somehow sticking to it with his bare hands. This shocked everyone that saw this, even him as he dropped down.
"Disgusting. Now I smell like beer." A woman said. Peter got up and helped her.
"I didn't mean to do that." Peter said, trying to wipe the beer off her. "I didn't mean to... I didn't... I didn't..." as he was apologizing, his hand got stuck to her shirt. He tried to get his hand off but couldn't.
"Get your hand off her!
"I'm trying to get my... ~." Peter said. The man got fed up and pushed Peter away. But that inadvertently caused him to rip the woman's shirt off, leaving her in a bra.
"Are you kidding?"
"I'm sorry." Peter said. His other hand was on stuck on the pole.
"Are you kidding me?" The man asked, even more mad.
"Hey, get him, Rudy!" His friend said.
"Hey!" The man yelled, throwing a punch at Peter. But Peter somehow knew this without looking and dodged his attack causing the man to crash on the train seats.
"Man, I'm sorry!" Peter apologized. "Man, are you all right?"
An alarm went off in his head. Without looking, he kicked another guy in the face which made him fall on the floor. Another guy attempted to punch him while he was down, but Peter kicked him away and got back up. The next guy looked at his skateboard and Peter figured out what he was going to do.
"No, man, no. Not my board." Peter pleaded. "Please, dude, don't..." Peter blocked the attack and slammed the guy in the pole. He flipped on the pole which caused it to break off the train and hit the final two guys in the goin and the heads. "I'm so sorry." He said, as the pole was finally released from his grip.
"Coney Island, next stop." The train announcement said. "Next and final stop, Coney Island."
But Peter didn't listen. Instead, he was looking at his hand trying to figure out what the hell just happened. Later he got off the train and ran the rest of the way home.
At his home, Ben and May were waiting for Peter to come home, since he's been gone the whole day. Their front door opened, revealing it to be Peter all sweating.
"Hey... Sorry. I'm late. I got..." Peter tried to apologize.
"We've been so worried." May said.
"I know. I'm sorry." Peter said, went his hand went up. "Watch out!" He grabbed a fly out of thin air, something that Ben or May didn't see. As they were in shock that Peter had caught the ting bug.
"That's a fly, Peter." May said. Peter released the fly before licking his fingers that he had caught the fly with.
"Yeah. I'm so sorry I kept you guys up." Peter said. "I'm insensitive, I'm irresponsible... and I'm hungry." He kissed May's cheek and went to the fridge as Ben and May followed. Peter pulled out a plate. "Meat loaf."
"Drinking?" May asked Ben.
"What's this?" Peter asked.
"I don't think so." Ben replied.
"This is your meat loaf." Peter said, enjoying the food. "This beats all other meat loafs."
"Something is very wrong." May said, concerned
"Yeah." Ben said. "Nobody likes your meat loaf." May gave him a 'really' look. Peter now had a lot of food piled in his arms. A container fell but Peter got it back.
"I got it." Peter said, as May tried to catch it.
"He took the frozen macaroni and cheese." May said, shocked.
"I noticed that." Ben said. May turned to Ben clearly not pleased.
"Why didn't you tell me you didn't like my meat loaf?" May asked, as Ben tried to find an answer. "You could have said that to me 37 years ago. How many meat loafs have I made for you?"
Later, Peter was in the bathroom washing his face while trying to figure out what was happening to him. He noticed something around the collar of his shirt and pulled on it. It led to the back of his neck and he pulled it out, causing him to groan. He looked at it and saw that it was a spider web. He continued to pull on it until the end revealed a dead spider. Peter looked at the spider and the web as only one thought came to mind.
What the hell is going on?
So, for those of you who are wondering if I'm gonna make some changes to the series than how the movies show us. Apart from making connections to the MCU, not a whole lot will change completely. But I will say that by the time I get to The Amazing Spider-Man 2, I will be making some big changes. Almost like I'm rewriting the movie. As for the Green Goblin, I will be using Norman Osborn instead of Harry Osborn, making more connections with Peter's dad and SHIELD, and many more. As for that one guy who asked if I'm changing Gwen's fate, well you'll have to wait and see for that one.
But other than that, here's the next chapter. Next time, Peter's new abilities will be taking form as he takes them for a spin and helps Curt Connors.
Until next time, let me know your thoughts.
