Chapter 3
Eric stares down in shock, as the screen door slams shut, seeing a pale blond head of hair at first, then the cutest cherub face smiling at him with his eyes and smile.
"Alexander, what are you doing out of bed?" Sookie asks in what can only be described as a mom voice.
"Iz wan FAR!" says the mini-Eric, while Eric, who stands there in shock, is looking from the child to Sookie to the child again.
"Lover, is this who I think it is? And if so, how?"
"Yes, and I be damned if I know! No way of knowing, just the miracle and gift that he is", shrugged Sookie, accepting the miracle of her son for what he is- a gift from the gods.
Sno jumps on the screen door and walks to Eric, smelling him, then licking Alexander on his face, causing Alex to laugh, then takes off into the trees. Eric barely notices.
Eric scoots down to his son's level to take a good look and deep breath. He is breathtaking. His son is looking back at him with joy, and a huge smile showing tiny teeth, and fangs. Realizing what he is seeing, he gently grabs his face and says, so me your fangs son.
Alexander proudly opens he mouth wide showing his Far his tiny fangs.
"Yous", demands the toddler.
"Yours please, Alex", corrects Sookie
"Yours, pez, Alex", repeats Alex
Eric smiles and opens his mouth like his son and pops his fangs down.
Alex is excited and laughs, happy to see them. Jumping up and down clapping his hands.
Eric asks his son, "Can I hold you?"
With that Alex jumps at his father, who catches him and stands up.
Alex waves down at his mother from his great height. Alex turns and smacks his Far with a kiss on his cheek and a hug laughing.
"Daddy stay?" Alex asks his mommy.
Knowing the temper tantrum that will follow if she says no, she turns to Eric raising her eyebrows in a silent question.
"Yes son, I would like to stay."
Alex hugs his far again and then demands, "milk mama, milk", demands her son.
"Ok Alex lets go get milk. Then back to bed young man!"
As Sookie walks into the house, Eric and Alex follow. Eric realizes there isn't a barrier to keep him out smiles to himself happy that there isn't one.
Sookie tells Eric to set Alex down in his highchair seat that is attached to the kitchen table and gets his sippy cup and mixes his milk and blood, attaching the top and getting some peanut butter cookies for him to snack on. She knows that between the three he will be asleep soon with a full tummy until morning.
Eric sits at the table watching silently. He is curious about his sons' appetites and schedule. Is he up all night or if he has an immunity to the sun?
"Hmm", Alex says, trying to share his cookies with his father. Eric laughs and says, "No son, they are all yours, enjoy them."
Alex laughs and continues to eat and drink. Sookie sits down and gives Eric a coffee cup full of warm blood and her sweet tea and some cookies.
Alex finishes, while his parents remain silent. Sookie grabs a washcloth and wipes his face and hands. "Alex it's time to go back to bed now, give FAR a kiss, you will see him tomorrow."
Alex bends over and smacks a kiss on his father's face, and lays his head on his mother's shoulder, showing the adults that he is ready to go back to sleep.
Sookie takes Alex to his room, with Eric following. Sookie places Alex in his crib, and turns off the lights, leaving a nightlight on.
She closes the door, leaving a crack so she or Eric can hear him if needed.
Sookie walks to the front door and whistles, Sno comes out of the tree line and walks into the house, straight into Alex's room.
As Sookie and Eric settle in the Livingroom, Sookie takes the lead. "So, your son's official supe name is Alexander Eric Brigant Northman. He is almost 2 years old, and he was born on May 10th. He is vampire, fae and human as you know. The pregnancy followed the fae gestation of barely five months. His favorite drink right now is breast milk and blood mixed. He drinks that about six-seven times a day. He eats human food also, but less so. He sometimes wants more milk & blood, and sometimes he prefers more human food. Dr. Ludwig thinks that after he matures, his eating habits will probably be more vampire, but should be able to eat human food if he desires. I just let him decide what he wants. He is immune to the sun, silver, iron and lemons. He isn't telepathic. He seems to be a perfect combination of all three. Dr. Ludwig thinks he will have all the advantages and very little if any disadvantages of the three species, but it is a learning process at this point. It is also a wait and see. Dr. Ludwig says that his vampire abilities will grow stronger the older he gets, along with his Fae abilities, which will be more dominate is unknown."
"I do not work, I quit working when I found out I was pregnant, and Niall gave Jason and I our grandfathers inheritance, which was extremely generous. We won't have to work ever again. As you can see, I have made changes around here. I live a quiet life now. I have been attending college online and will be getting my degrees in business administration next week at my graduation."
"I have had a lot of time to think about my past and my actions and I want to say, Eric I am sorry, for the way I behaved and held you to higher standards than anyone else in my life. Please accept my apology and reassurances that I will no longer be that stubborn, selfish, brat you knew before. I have grown up and changed a lot over the past 3 years."
Lover, I can't say that doesn't make me happy, but I love you no matter what, and for you to give me my greatest desire, a child, that is part you and me, well I can't tell you how happy you have made me. I am also extremely proud of you for everything you have accomplished, all on your own. You are truly magnificent!"
"But, Sookie, how does he know I am his father?", asks Eric, slightly confused.
"I have been showing him your picture since he was a baby, repeating the word Far and Daddy and pointing to your picture."
Eric reaches over and kisses her hands in thanks.
"So, what now?" asks Sookie.
"Well, if you will have me, I would like to live here and be a family, you, me, and Alex. I want to be a full-time father and husband, and maybe, if possible, have more children", says Eric seriously.
"I want that too, so very much Eric", says Sookie as she reaches for him to hug him.
Eric grabs hold of her face and gives her the kiss she has been hoping for since she saw him in her yard.
"I love you Eric", says Sookie when they break away.
"I love you and our son Sookie always and forever!", whispers Eric as he holds her in his arms kissing her everywhere he can reach.
"Sookie, I want- no need- to make love to you, please?"
"Oh yes Eric, please do!"
With that Eric grabs her and takes her to her room. As Sookie laughs, she is bouncing on the bed where Eric dropped her as he strips quickly, then decides to help her take her clothes off at vampire speed. Before she knows it, she is lying in bed with a Viking covering her from her head to her toes.
Eric breathes Sookie in as he kisses her. He recreates all the dreams that she has had in the last three years, basking in the feeling of love.
A few hours later, Sookie is lying on Eric's chest, she asks, "Eric can we re-bond?"
Eric stops caressing her shoulder asking, "Are you sure lover?"
"Yes, I regretted breaking the bond right after I did it! I was such a fool to listen to Amelia, she played on all my fears. I will never let anything, or anyone come between us again Eric, I promise", she says looking at him.
"Of course, lover, let's start it tonight."
"I am ready when you are", responds Sookie.
They get into a familiar pose, Sookie leaning her back against Eric's chest. Eric proceeds to bite his wrist and Sookie takes it to her mouth, while Eric gently bites her neck. At once they feel the bond re-ignite, strong and pure.
"Wow, Eric, can you feel me?"
"Yes, but it is different this time, it feels so much stronger."
"Hmm, maybe because Bill is dead and with his influence gone- this is what it was supposed to originally feel like?" questions Sookie.
"Compton is finally dead?" Eric asks in shock.
"Oh yes, he is, and I am so happy he is!" laughs Sookie.
"I am surprised lover! What happened?"
"Oh, well when Dr. Ludwig told me I was pregnant, she called my grandfather and Niall came. He confirmed that my fae maturity was happening and that the Culver Dor basically supercharged my spark to that of a very powerful fae."
He also confirmed that I was pregnant with your child. He told me about the inheritance from my grandfather. He explained that the time difference changed, and it was then 100 years in Fae since he had been gone but only months here. He asked if Raven, Claudine's little sister could come and help me train. She is Claudine's mini me. She was born after the triplets had all died so she didn't hold me responsible for their deaths and had no emotional attachment to them. She is great- anyway, we were out back having a BBQ, when he came into the yard at vampire speed. Raven popped out, but he grabbed me. He had his back to Jason and either didn't think he was a threat or didn't realize he was there, anyway, Jason took the BBQ fork he was holding and stabbed him in the back with it. It had a wooden handle with a silver fork on the end. It was all over in a few seconds."
"I immediately felt free, like a huge weight had been lifted off me. I realized at that point that it was all Bill, all the blood he manipulated into me and that I hated him. It was him all along making me forgive him and despise you, all of it his influence. I wanted to bring him back so I could kill him all over again! I guess I am still angry as hell at the whole situation!"
"Well lover, it is over now, and we are both free of our captors! And we have a beautiful little boy to enjoy!" responds Eric.
"Yes, we do! By the way, the entire house has been outfitted with vampire glass, so you are safe sleeping here."
"Really? How, why?"
"I did it before Alex was born, I didn't know if he would be more vampire and not be able to be out in the sun or not, so I had them put in. Best investment ever! Besides I own the company and the patent on them! Thank you, Grandfather!"
"The property is warded also, no one can pass the property lines without my permission, and with my increased range, I can immediately detect anyone coming. I can throw light balls and fire balls, thanks to Mr. Catalides' influence, I can pop anywhere at any time, I am still immune to lemons and iron, and I haven't physically aged since you left, oh and I can shield. Dr. Ludwig said I had all the positive attributes of being fae, including a royal spark and none of the negatives. I am about 99% full fairy according to Dr. Ludwig, oh and without the super sweet smell of a fairy."
"Lover, that is great, you will need to show me tonight when I rise. What is shield?"
"Oh, well, that's something else we need to discuss. I can create an invisible shield around my body that is impregnable, and I can cover Alex also, even if he isn't near me. And Raven told me that if I bonded with you in the Fae way, then you would be immune to silver and sunlight, and I would probably be able to shield you also since you are my chosen mate."
"Lover, now that could come in handy! Especially if we have more children, I would be able to help you during the day!"
"Yes, it can, wish I had it earlier in life", laughs Sookie shrugging her shoulders.
"So how do we Fae bond because I would love to spend the day with my family in the sunlight!"
"OK, so sit up, I will need to give you a part of my spark. It enters your body through my light ball, your body will absorb it and that's it."
"Lover are you sure you won't turn me to ash, your light balls remind me of pure sunlight…"
"No, I promise you are safe, it is all about intent and my light would never hurt you or Alex."
"Ok, lover I trust you, let's do this!"
They both sit up on the bed facing each other, Sookie creates a small light ball the size of a pea and pushes it into Eric's chest. Eric's chest glows for a second and disappears.
Eric felt the heat and power of the light ball but no pain.
"Is that all lover?"
"Yes, how do you feel."
'Hmm, fine. Let's wait for the dawn and see what happens."
"Ok Eric."
"The sun will rise in one hour; will you be able to stay awake? It is late."
"No problem, I require less sleep than a human. I usually am working on my homework or doing housework around this time anyway, and Alex is a late sleeper, so I usually go to sleep around 6 am until around 10 am. Alex is usually up by noon."
"Ok, do you want to give me a tour outside, I noticed you added a 4-car garage. And I like the blue paint."
As they get dressed Sookie explains,
"Ah yes, I just had it painted and the driveway redone a few years ago in asphalt. I added the garage, and finished out the basement and attic, and my favorite thing is I added a back patio and swimming pool, bbq area, seating area, and a play area for Alex. It's great and we spend a lot of time out there. I bought new furniture and had some of the older furniture refinished so they look great."
Sookie and Eric spend the next hour exploring the changes, and when done they sit in the backyard and watch the sunrise. Eric feels no pull of the sun and is in awe of the sunrise he hasn't seen in over 1000 years.
With tears in his eyes, he thanks Sookie, kissing her passionately seeing her in sunshine for the first time. "You are truly gorgeous Sookie with the sun shining down on you," says Eric kissing her again and makes love to her in her garden, in the dawn of a new day.
