The Hermione before Hogwarts

"Hermione, there's a letter for you." Mr. Granger called out to his daughter.

"Coming, I just want to finish this chapter." Hermione yelled back as she flipped a page in her book. Her father walked into the room and sat in the blue and white checkered armchair opposite of her. Hermione continued reading for a few minutes and then set her book down. Her father stretched out his hand. She eagerly accepted the letter.

"Strange." she muttered. "Why would someone write to me on yellow parchment?"

" It was sent in through the kitchen window." her father told her. "By an owl."

"An owl?" she shouted in a very surprised voice, a little louder than necessary. She gazed at the violet seal for a moment before she ripped the envelope open .

Dear Miss Granger,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.

Hermione gasped. She read the letter over and over and finally passed it over to her father. He read it with an open mouth. She noticed several other pieces tucked into the envelope.
