The Academy is a huge building in Konohagakure located directly at the base of the Hokage Mountain. It is where prospective ninja are trained and where official ninja receive their assignments. It was founded by the Second Hokage out of military necessity.

The Academy is quite large and is comprised of several buildings which were erected over time. The building can be identified by the tree in front of it which has a swing on it and more so, by the giant sign with the kanji for fire on it.

Tobio was in front of the enrollment desk. He was nervous because he might not get the criteria or requirements for it. To his surprise however, the requirements isn't that hard.

Admission Requirements

1. Love the village and hope to help preserve peace and prosperity.

2. Have a mind that will not yield, able to endure hard training and work.

3. Be healthy in mind and body.

If the above conditions are met, admission to the Academy will be granted.

Therefore, Tobio made it! But unknown to him, tuition was actually needed to admit. It was the orphanage's matron that paid for him in secret. She took a liking to the boy that's why she secretly helped him.

The matron was happy for him when he came back. Too bad he didn't have friends since he mostly trains alone and didn't play with other kids. Also according to his memories, his past self before he began remembering everything, was a quiet type. So really no friends there.

This however changed when he met a crying Naruto while doing his run. According to the timeline, it was now 4 years ago when the Kyuubi attacked, meaning Naruto was 4 years old. He was older than Naruto by 3 years.

"Hey kid, Are you okay?"

The blond boy stopped by crying and looked at him. Then cried again.

"Uhhhh,," Tobio didn't know what to do. Should he leave him alone? or what?

' hmmmmn. based on the many fanfics I've read, many tried to avoid him, some even treated him bad while to others, he didn't register to their radar at all and some stole or asked for his chakra. Those kind of people are probably opportunist'

Tobio however isn't a heartless human, even with his mother killing him, he didn't hate her. He actually felt bad for being the reason his mother was sad. That's why, no matter how fanfics dictates that he should leave him alone, he can't. He's too human to do that.

Tobio approached the boy and patted his head. "There, there. You'll be fine Naruto-kun. You're parents would feel bad if you're not happy, ya' know?"

'Well I hope he stops crying soon, I even said his name and signature way of speaking.'

Naruto stopped crying again and looked at him. Naruto, for the first time saw the eyes of someone who truly cares. Since birth, and even since gaining a bit of awareness as a kid.

All he saw were either frightened or angered eyes. Even eyes that wants to kill him. This older boy in front of him however does not show any of those. Then he just recalled what he just said just to realize he doesn't have parents!

He tried to held it in knowing that someone was there for him now. But the thought of someone finally being there for him, made him cry harder.

With no choice, Tobio hugged Naruto and started taking care of him. 'sigh, I remember the times I cried when his sad story flashes back in every episode. Oh those damn fillers, sometimes I'm confused which to cry about, if it's because of the sad flashback or the infinite flashback.?!'

Upon his return to the orphanage, the matron was surprised when he saw Naruto with him.

He tried to ask the matron why Naruto was alone in the forest crying. But the matron didn't know why.

Tobio then said something that shocked the matron.

"From now on, he will be my younger brother and I will take care of him when I'm not in the academy. He will also sleep with me starting tonight. Is that okay, aunty?"

The matron could not believe it and was about to decline him. But seeing his serious gaze made her reconsider.

'If Tobio-kun takes care of him instead of me, ain't that gonna be a weight off my shoulders? Besides, I know just how kind and good, Tobio-kun is. Lucky you demons spawn. Maybe I should stop referring to him as such since Tobio-kun will be his brother from now on, still, lucky you, Naruto.' the matron looked at Naruto with a gentle smile unlike how he always does then back to Tobio, who was unaware of it. Naruto however didn't miss that change. It was like Tobio was his

"Are you really sure about this Tobio-kun? You are going to be busy in the academy, so you will have so little time for yourself. Do you really still want to take care of him?"

"I'm sure, Aunty. I'll be a good brother to him." Younger brother, acquired!

The next day

Tobio was able to take care of Naruto a bit before going to the academy. Something like, taking a bath together, eating breakfast together, brushing their teeth together and more.

"Naruto, behave yourself inside the orphanage and wait for me okay?"

"okay!" Naruto replied cheerfully. Tobio's heart felt a slight tug upon seeing his happy face.

'the hell.! I'm really going to be his brother now aren't I? sigh, oh well. You reap what you sow, or so they say.'

Tobio then hugged Naruto and patted his head.

"Later then."

"Bye bye! Come back home soon, Tobio-nii."

'Ah, shit. I'm going to get used to this..' Tobio started going to the academy with a clenched fist and manly tears.

Academy

Tobio thought that being Naruto's brother was the least of his worries that could happen to him, but no.

As with any school, students are taught a core curriculum of reading, writing, mathematics, science, geography, etc. These lessons are typically framed in a ninja-context, and in fact are learned at all in order to facilitate later instruction in tactics and strategy.

'Im here to learn how to use chakra not to attend school all over again! Kami, please have mercy!'

Luckily for him, he was to learn a lot more that day. And was only instructed of what they will learn from now on. So that was just all introduction of what to expect for the next 5 years.

Students will learn the Shinobi Rules, how to strengthen their minds and bodies, and will receive special lectures from veteran shinobi.

They are taken through the handling of ninja weapons and tools, like shuriken and kunai, learning how to throw and wield them through target practice, as well as instructed on the basics of trap-setting.

Academy students are also taught about chakra and how to use it, through hand seals.

And so, that was what composed of his time in the academy, while going back home to the orphanage, his time was further taken by being with Naruto.

The next day he also started taking Naruto with him on his morning routine of exercise. Naruto didn't like it at first but with punishment of not playing with him if he don't, he was persuaded.

That was how, Tobio became Naruto's first bond instead of Iruka. Few days passed and it was the weekend.

Same routine as weekdays. They exercise, take a bath, eat breakfast, rest a bit, then play. In the afternoon, he took Naruto to their room and have him sleep so he could train in the forest alone.

A few distance away from the buildings of Konoha. Tobio found himself a clearing where he could practice what he learned from the academy in a week.

It was all basic ninja skills, like learning how to throw and wield ninja weapons and tools, like shuriken and kunai, through target practice, as well as the basics of trap-setting.

He actually borrowed 3 kunai and 2 shurikens from a chunin instructor for todays training. Since he doesn't have the tools for trap-setting, he can forget about it for now.

He simply marked some trees and made them his target practice. With that done, he started going at it. He wasn't a talented individual. Even in class, he fails to land a hit. And if he does, it doesn't get stuck, meaning he didn't use enough strength to throw it.

Taijutsu which was basically just sparring, was brutal for him. Even some who doesn't belong to any clan was enough to pulverise him.

Surprisingly though, his inspiration to continue was Naruto. His thinking was along the line of, 'If I don't get strong, I won't be able to protect my younger brother! I must not give up!'

"Why do you try so hard, Young one?" Tobio heard an old voice, so he stopped his training.

He looked around and he saw an old dude, wearing a white haori and the symbol of power for a kage. The hat was red in color.

Does he even need to think more? it was of course, Sarutobi Hiruzen. 'If there was a character more hated than Sakura in every fanfic, I think this guy would come in next' was tobio's thought upon seeing the third Hokage.

"Hokage sama. It's an honor to meet you." Tobio pulled the respectful card in front of Hiruzen. 'No need to be a bad boy, right now, I'm just an ant in front of him.'

Hiruzen held his hat and slide it down a little. "Let me ask you again young one, why do you try do hard?"

'Oh no, why is he talking to me like that? Do I have to kneel? Oh darn it!'

Tobio kneeled in one knee and bowed his head. "Hokage sama, to answer your questions. I try hard so that I can become a strong shinobi."

"Hm, and why do you need to become a strong shinobi?" Hiruzen asked again, this time he took off his hat. While Tobio was still kneeling and his head was still lowered.

"It is to protect someone important to me, Hokage sama." 'heh, I know this line of conversation from any anime I've watched.'

"Someone important you say?" Hiruzen pretended to be confused. And looked away up ahead.

"Yes, Hokage sama." Hiruzen looked at him again.

"And who is this someone important to you?" With the biggest smile Tobio could muster, he faced the Hokage and lifted his head.

"My younger brother of course! His name is Uzumaki Naruto, an orphan just like me."

"Why?"

"When my parents died, I was alone. I know how it feels. That's why after I found him crying by himself, and found out he was also alone. For him to feel what I felt, I just couldn't take it. So I decided to make him my brother. That's why I need to be strong, so he will never be alone again." Hiruzen smirk at the boy's reasoning.

'Minato-kun, I seem to have found someone to care for your legacy.'
