A/N: Hi guys, I'm back! It's been a really really long time, since I posted chapter 2. I had a lot of personal issues to deal with but I'm back now and I hope you like this chapter.
"Cassandra! Please I need to talk to you!" Don had arrived at the Goth House and was banging on the door.
"Hi Don!" exclaimed Alexander, he had answered the door, all ready in his suit. He was going to be the best man, Don didn't have any family and didn't have a lot of friends, so Cassandra had convinced him to let Alexander be his best man.
"Hey Alex, where's you sister?" Don asked, "I really need to talk to her!"
"Oh but you can't, you're not allowed to see the bride on the morning of the wedding, it's bad luck!" Smiled Alexander. Despite Don's flaws, he always had time for Alexander, you see, Don never had any cousins or siblings growing up and he was always a bit of a shy nerdy kid, who knows what went wrong, so he's always treated Alexander like a little brother.
"It's okay Alex, let him in" Cassandra said as she came to the door. "I think we need to talk Don." Cassandra invited him inside. "Alex go and help dad set up." Alexander left the room. "Hi...I'm sorry about that phone call last night."
"Well you kind of freaked me out. Why do you no longer want to get married?" Don asked, almost begging Cassandra for an answer.
"I was just thinking how my mom isn't hear anymore, I love you Don, I really do, but I don't think I can do this without her here."
"I completely understand. But your mom is watching down on you all of the time. I promise, she wouldn't want you to put your happiness on hold for her." Don knows that Cassandra's family have had it hard, but Dina and him are desperate for than money, and this is the only way.
"You're right. She would want me to be happy. I love you! You should go so I can get dressed. I'm so sorry for putting you through that last night. I really don't deserve you." She kissed him goodbye and Don left the house. She's right though, she doesn't deserve Don, she deserved a lot better. The door closed behind him and Don took out his phone but it went straight to voicemail.
"Dina, the wedding is back on. She doesn't know anything, she was worried about what her stupid dead mom would think haha! Don't call me back yet though, the wedding starts soon. I'll call you when it's over! Our plan is working!" Don laughed down the phone. He was that ecstatic that the wedding was back on that he didn't realize that he hadn't called Dina, but instead he had called Nina.
"Hi Don, it's a bit early isn't, you don't want to jinx your own wedding." A young woman said, it was Brandi Broke. She was Cassandra's best friend, they grew up together. Despite not going to school together, they where best friends and they where convinced they'd go to the same college together, as Brandi was a straight A student and was hoping to get a scholarship. But she dropped out in her senior year after falling pregnant to her boyfriend, Skip Broke. They had a little boy, Dustin, and eventually the two went on to get married and had another baby boy, Beau but like anything in this neighborhood, no on truly gets their happy ending. Shortly after finding out that she was pregnant with a third child. Skip died in suspicious circumstances. Since then Brandi has been left widowed, with a troublesome teenager, a young toddler and a third baby on the way and of course broke, hence the name. Cassandra was always there for Brandi though as Brandi was there for Cassandra when her mom died. So of course, Brandi agreed to be the maid of honor to Cassandra.
"Oh hey Brandi, why you look really big! I'm only joking, you look amazing, Cassandra and I had something to talk about, nothing to worry about. I'll see you at the ceremony. And he walked off.
"Dad can I talk to you for a minute?" Lilith asked. She had witnessed a weird exchange between her father and Kaylynn, the maid who had just announced she was pregnant and handed her resignation in.
"What is it Lily? We need to go or we'll be late." Daniel asked. He had no time to be dealing with his unruly daughter's teen drams right now. He had just found out the maid who had been having an affair with is pregnant, and he couldn't help but wonder if it was his child.
"What was that about? When Kaylynn left, I saw you and her through the window, you look you where arguing or angry with her."
"What? Lily I don't know what you're talking about. Get in the car, your mom and sister are waiting for us."
"Dad! She looked upset. Like she was about to cry and she had just told us that she was pregnant and was quitting her job. Are you not slightly concerned about her?" Lilith always got on with Kaylynn, you see Lilith was the "bad twin", the one who got the blame for everything and her mom was always busy and as close as she was to her dad, recently her parents marriage has been under pressure and Lilith has been getting the brunt of it all from both parents. One day during summer vacation, Lilith was grounded as usual and was on her own in the house. Kaylynn and Lilith got talking and she opened up to Kaylynn a lot, she couldn't help it. She had never had anyone wanted to listen to her like Kaylynn did. Since then she and Kaylynn started getting along and sometimes Lilith would even help Kaylynn out with her cleaning duties.
"Exactly Lily! She has a lot going on and well when you're pregnant you're emotional all of the time, your mother was the same and auntie Jennifer, crying all of the time. Now come on, get in the car." Daniel said and Lilith complied.
"Wow Cassandra you look amazing!" Exclaimed Brandi.
"Thank you, so do you Brandi" Replied Cassandra. "Well I think I'm ready. Just half an hour to go."
"Cassandra! Mary-Sue is here." Mortimer shouted from downstairs.
"Send her up." Mary-Sue came up to Cassandra's bedroom.
"Hi darlings, oh Cassandra you look amazing and Brandi you look nice." Mary-Sue never really got on with Brandi. You see, Mary-Sue was older than Cassandra, in fact, she grew up with Bella Goth, but was Cassandra's godmother and took it upon herself to always watch out for Cassandra and Alexander when Bella died. But she was always very judgmental of Brandi, a widowed mother of two children with a third on the way, now that does seem harsh as it's not Brandi's fault she's widowed, but Brandi got pregnant as a teen. Something that Mary-Sue swore will never happen to her daughters. She also doesn't like Brandi's son, Dustin, who is currently dating Mary-Sue's perfect daughter, Angela. Mary-Sue would do anything to split them up, as she believes her daughter is worth more than a future criminal.
"Thank you Mary-Sue, you look lovely as well." Brandi smiled, she knew what Mary-Sue thought of her and her family. But Brandi has faced judgment her whole life. She was used to it, but she knew she was a good mom, who'd do anything for her children. Her mother, Betty Newbie, always told her that other peoples judgment and negative comments is a reflection on them not her. Though Mary-Sue was right about Dustin, Brandi hates to admit, but he was always running into trouble with the law, from stealing cars, underage drinking and smoking, harassing the neighbors and just causing trouble. But Brandi loved Angela and thought she brought out the best in Dustin, when he was with her, he was a kind sweet boy, like the boy he was before his father died.
"So who else is invited to the wedding, your father tells me it's only a small wedding."
"Well there's your families, the Burbs, the Oldies and I've hired Darren Dreamer to paint mine and Don't portrait. It's a family tradition, to have our portraits painted and well Darren is an amazing artist and a good friend as well so we've also invited him and his son, Dirk as well."
"Now Dirk Dreamer, now he's a lovely boy isn't he. He's been seeing my Lilith the past few weeks but I personally think it won't last. You see Lilith is always in trouble, get it from her father's side, Jennifer was the same when she was a teenager. A bit like your Dustin, Brandi, how is he anyway? Not been arrested again has he?"
"Dustin is fine Mary-Sue. And your Angela is a delight to have around, such a lovely intelligent girl." Brandi smiled.
"Oh she is, Daniel and I are so proud, she's wanting to go to Sim State University, Académie Le Tour and The Foxbury Institute, no doubt that'll she'll be accepted into all of those."
"That's amazing Mary-Sue, it's a pity you can't give Lilith the same appreciation and attention you give Angela. I personally don't have favorite children." Brandi smiled sarcastically. Mary-Sue smiled back through gritted teeth.
"Okay guys, it's time to go." Cassandra said. She appreciates Mary-Sue's help over the past few years but she has never liked the way she treats Brandi.
The Goth house has been in the family for generations. Mortimer was raised in Sunset Valley, in a large house that belonged to The Crumplebottoms, his mother's side of the family. But The Goth Mansion had always been in his father's family. He decided to move there and raise his children there. It's also tradition that funerals and weddings always take place in the grounds of the house. They have a graveyard at the back with all past Goth family members buried there, apart from Bella of course, as her body was never found. The garden was all done up for the wedding, with a beautiful arch covered in red roses and and red rose bushes going down the isle.
"When does the wedding start dad?" Alexander asked. He was so excited, Cassandra let him play a big part in the planning of the wedding including the cake, which was what Alexander was mostly looking forward to.
"Soon, Alex, we just need all of the guests to be seated. You need to go and stand next to Don at the arch." Mortimer replied. "Hello Agnes." He said as an old hunched miserable looking woman walked up to him.
"Yes yes, now where am I sitting, better not be at the back with a bunch of people I don't know." Agnes replied. Agnes Crumplebottom was Mortimer's auntie, on his mother's side. The only member of his mothers family he had left, apart from three distant cousins who he had never met. She was a miserable woman who lived in Sunset Valley. She only ever made contact during the holidays or big occasions like funerals. This was the first family wedding since Bella and Mortimer. And as always, she was ready to judge every single one of the guests and the house and gardens and pretty much everything.
"You're sat at the front obviously along with Alexander and I, he's the best man."
"Oh is he now, let's just get this over and done with." And she walked up to the front row, hunched with her walking stick.
"John, Jennifer, and Lucy, don't you look lovely in your dress. Alexander has been looking forward to seeing you." The Burbs had just arrived. John and Jennifer had gone to sit down as Lucy ran up to speak to Alexander. They where best friends. "Oh and Coral and Herb, how are you? I read Mary-Sue's interview with the local news, amazing isn't she, she will win the election for certain this time." Coral and Herb Oldie, where Mary-Sue's parents, they adopted her when she was a baby.
"Darren Dreamer and Dirk. You look very smart. Please sit where you like, I can't wait to see the masterpiece you make of Don and Cassandra." Mortimer said and then went into the house to get Cassandra. All of the guests had sat down and it was time to start the wedding. The music started playing, classic wedding music of course. Don and Alexander where standing by the wedding arch, the front door opened. Brandi walked down the isle in a long deep red dress, carrying a bouquet of red roses. She walked to the end of the isle and stood opposite Alexander. And then the moment everyone had been waiting for, Cassandra came out, a long white dress with white gloves, her hair down and parted to the side alongside her father Mortimer who was wearing the same suit he wore when he married Bella. He walked Cassandra to the end of the isle and stood next to Brandi. He was trying to hold back tears. The registrar was about the start when suddenly.
"STOP! Stop the wedding!" It was Nina. She had heard the voicemail Don had left her and she was there to confront him, with Dina following.
"Nina come on, we're not invited." Dina had clearly tried to stop Nina from going to the wedding, "Sorry guys, we'll leave you to it."
"No Dina! I need to know. Don, what are you doing here? Getting married when you're my boyfriend." Everyone was silent and then Don spoke.
"Funny, this is hilarious, Cassandra, these girls are my neighbors, they're big on pranks." He forced a nervous laugh.
"Really? Just your neighbors, is that what we are, just neighbors now after being together for a year." Nina smirked.
"Don what's going on? What is she talking about?" Cassandra asked.
"Don and I are together, Cassandra, you don't know me, I've heard of your family in the news, but I think Don has been lying to us both. Just like he lied to me about Kaylynn Langerak, in fact he convinced me she was making up rumors about them having an affair." Nina explained. She knew that Cassandra had no idea about her and Don and that he had cheated on both of them.
"Kaylynn Langerak, our maid. So you must be the father of her baby!" Mary-Sue shouted.
"Mary-Sue, stay out of it." Daniel said.
"Pregnant? Kaylynn is pregnant?" Dina said. She was shocked. She had no idea about this.
"I can't believe you would do this Don, I thought you loved me. I thought you wanted to start a family with me." Cassandra cried. She ran off into the house.
"Cassandra!" Brandi ran after her.
"Come on Nina let's go." Dina grabbed her sister's hand.
"Don't come talk to me again Don! We're over. And it looks like Cassandra wants nothing to do with you either! Go back to Kaylynn. You deserve each other!" Nina said and she left with Dina.
"I think you should go home Don." Mortimer was furious, nobody hurts his children, he knew Don wasn't right for her. "I'm going to check on my daughter. Let's see the damage you've caused. Weddings over everyone, I'm sorry you had a wasted journey. Thank you for coming anyway. Please respect my daughter's privacy." Everyone started to leave, muttering and mumbling, the wedding may be over but they'll all have something to gossip about for the next few days.
A/N: So this was a long chapter. I hope you guys liked it, and I'll have chapter 3 up soon.
