Chapter 1: Welcome to Denver!

Since the beginning of time man has been fascinated with the metal caled gold. It in truth is credited for the settelment of the West. For it was rumors of gold that brought tens of thousands of easterners into the territories of California and Colorado.

In 1875 Denver was a small town filled with miners who lost it all and settled there. Two such cases were Yusuke Urameshi and Kazuma Kuwabara. Both had left their wives and children in search of riches.

For these two men one day they saw an ad in a local newspaper.

"GET RICH BY ROLLING DOWN A MOUNTIAN" it proclaimed. You would buy a bottle of salve for $2.00 and go out to where gold was. Then you would put it all over you and roll down. By the time you got to the bottom, it guarenteed, that you would be covered in pounds of gold.

They couldn't beleive their luck. So, they left their northern wives and children and took off to Colorado with 10 bottles of this salve.

$20 dollars, in 1875 was an insane ammount of money to spend on one thing. For example you could go to a restarant, buy a large steak, mashed potatos, and a glass of beer for a nickel.

By the time Yusuke and Kuwabara had realised that the salve didn't work they were thousands of miles away from home and too poor to go back.

As a result they decided to stay in the nearest town, Denver.

To earn money they became part of a vigilante group and got rid of the worst of crime. Two fo their main targets were the notorious outlaws, Yoko Kurama, the infamous theif, and Hiei Jaganashi, small but deadly.

Those two were notorious theifsand best friends. Both had been thrown out at childhood and had the 'Us against the world' pholosophy'.

Yoko Kurama was a youkai as was Hiei. They weren't known by their real names, but by their theif names, Fox and Fire. No one knew how they got these names but they were called by them.

They were going to attempt a kidnapping, of the daughter of Denver's richest residences.

The girl's name was Kaki and she was as vain as a Persian cat. She owned many gold possesions and was fascinated by rubies and sapphires. True, she was beautiful, but she had the personality of a cabbage and was mean to everyone.

Her father was a famous miner who had struck it rich in California his name, Koenma.

Tonight there was to be a play that Kaki was expected to attend. Yet, she didn't feel very well so she decided not to go.

Kaki had a maid by the name of Kaiyou who would be taking her place at the theater tonight. Kaiyou wasn't as pretty as her employer but she was much nicer. She had shoulder length brown hair and green/blue eyes. She would, to the play tonight, wear one of Kaki's old dresses. Not many could tell the difference.

As Kaiyou walked into the theater she didn't notice the figure on the roof with a bow and arrow.

The figure was Kasai, the native american. Both her parents had been slaughtered at Sand Creek then scalped and she had vowed to repay the favor by killing all the whites at the theater.

Little did these six individuals know that their paths would cross, rather violently and that the ending wouldn't be very plesant.
