Puck finally woke for good a while after Sabrina left, his face half pressed into the pillow where the faint hint of her still lingered.
Eventually, he somehow pulled himself out of bed and dragged downstairs still half asleep where, as per usual, everyone was already halfway through breakfast without him.
At least, everyone except Sabrina. Figuring she must have fallen back asleep after she went back to her room, especially since he could barely get up himself after the late night they had running around, he sat in his usual seat beside Mustardseed. A coffee already waiting in front of him. With a mumbled "good morning" to everyone, he started pouring more creamer and sugar into his mug than usual.
Everyone was used to his late risings by this point so they only briefly greeted him back before falling back into their previous conversation.
He wasn't really paying that much attention, his mind mostly occupied by the replays of last night, Sabrina in his bed, and his desperate need for caffeine. And when he finally looked up, trying to appear at least slightly interested, he saw Daphne staring back at him. Her expression was a smug, know-it-all mischievous look that usually only he would give.
He raised an eyebrow, hand frozen holding his mug up to his lips. He cut a glance to the others but they were still deep in conversation. When he looked back, she was still staring at him with an impish smirk.
What? he asked silently with his eyes, finally placing down his cup. She shrugged, still smug, and he wondered if she knew something he didn't. She finally looked away and he could guess it was taking everything in her to not tease him about...something. He shrugged it off for the most part when his food arrived.
Neither he nor Daphne spoke much for the rest of the meal and Puck's mind started drifting again. Daphne every so often sent another look his way and he would give another silent 'what?!' but she never said anything, continually shrugging teasingly before turning her attention back to the other's conversation.
Soon enough, everyone started rising from the table and Puck snapped out of it, setting his coffee down and popping his head up. They all appeared to be splitting to go somewhere but he hadn't been listening enough to tell where. Daphne sent him one last before slinking off.
He blinked a few times then quickly sprang from the table and raced after her.
"Okay, what?!" he demanded, grabbing her hand and holding her back as the others continued on.
She smirked again, her eyes a bit bright. "Oh, you know what," she said in a low, teasing tone.
He blinked. "...I do?"
She rolled her eyes. "Please, you guys are so not as slick as you think you are."
He opened his mouth and sputtered for a second, racking his brain for what she might be referring to. She already knew that he and Sabrina were together so he wasn't sure what else they might have been keeping from her.
"What are you talking about?"
Daphne glanced over her shoulder to make sure the others were good and well out of earshot and leaned in conspiringly. "Sabrina slept over in your room last night, didn't she?"
His brain froze, slightly panicked. "How...how do you know about that?"
She scoffed, grinning again. "I knew it! I told you, you guys so couldn't be making this more obvious. Is she still curled up in your bed?"
"Again," he said, a tad creeped out, "how do you know about that?"
She raised an eyebrow. "She never came back to the room last night, and I assumed, correctly, that she stayed with you after how you guys were basically all over each other last night."
"Well...she did," he admitted, rolling his eyes when her grin returned, "but she left pretty early this morning. I figured she went back to your guys' room to change before breakfast."
Her smugness faded slightly. "How early?"
He thought back but the accounts of early that morning were mainly just of waking up with Sabrina beside him and then her kissing him goodbye. "I dunno, early? I don't think the sun was even fully up yet."
Her eyebrows furrowed in concerned confusion. "But she wasn't in our room when I left this morning."
"Well, she wasn't in my room when I left."
They looked curiously at each for a moment, an unsaid question in their eyes.
Then they were running back to the mansion.
They half jogged, half sprinted through the hallways to the guest rooms. When they reached the door to Daphne and Sabrina's room he knocked hesitantly.
When no one answered he gave another glance to Daphne and pushed open the door.
The room was empty, Sabrina's bed sitting vacant and perfectly made.
Daphne checked the bathroom just in case and came back out shaking her head.
He inhaled deeply, trying not to jump to conclusions, but panic started to rise in his chest anyway. His mind started racing frantically through the possibilities.
"Okay...okay," Daphne said, standing still and blinking into a space. "There's probably a perfectly fine explanation. We know how she is, she tends to wander off sometimes...tries to do things on her own."
"First thing in the morning without telling anyone?" His voice sounded echoey in his ears and he wondered if it was just in his head or not.
"Alright, it is a bit odd...," Daphne continued, "but...but..." she scrambled, her own rising panic showing on her face.
"Come on, we know her better than anyone, right?" he said. "If she were to wander off, she had to have a good reason, right?"
"Theoretically. Or..." Puck had an idea of where Daphne was heading and it made his heart thump hard and frantic in his chest.
"No," he said, starting to pace. "There has to be somewhere else she went. Like...the library or the study or..."
"Or," Daphne said carefully. "Something might have happened."
"No!" It came out a little too loud and he took a breath to calm down. "No, we're not thinking about that possibility until we know for sure. Let's...let's look around first. Check the library or the study or anywhere else we can think she might go."
Daphne nodded stiffly and they took off again.
They checked the rest of the rooms in the guest hallway together before splitting up around the corner to search the mansion from top to bottom. They checked all of downstairs - the dungeon, both studies, the library - but found no trace of her.
Then they raced upstairs together and checked every room they could think of - Puck's bedroom, Mustardseed's room, Puck even checked the private library and found it secure and locked.
Grasping at straws, they even tried the restaurant and the kitchen, but Sabrina was nowhere to be found.
They finally stopped at the bottom of the main staircase.
"Okay, is it time to panic now?" Daphne near shrieked.
His breathing started to grow heavy and fast. "No, no there has to be - where...where's Mustardseed? Where did everyone go?"
Daphne raised her hands to her mouth to bite her nail. They were shaking. "He went off with my parents and Basil to meet up with a few Everafters they met last night. Said something about interviews and possible information."
He glanced down at his wrist even though he had never worn a watch at any point in his life. "How long has it been? How soon will they be back?"
"I...I don't know, an hour maybe? Is there anywhere else she could possibly be?"
He ran a hand roughly through his hair. "We searched nearly this entire mansion from top to bottom. I can't think of anywhere else. Did she go and meet up with them? Could she have left and gone out somewhere else?"
"Where?!" Daphne asked, voice growing louder. "And if so, where are we supposed to start? It's freaking New York City!"
"Daphne? Puck? Are you guys okay?"
They whirled around to see the doors to the mansion just opening and Veronica looking out at them concerned. The door opened wider and the rest of the group appeared behind her.
Daphne raced towards them. "Mom! You're back! Is Sabrina with you guys?" She frantically started to scan around the group.
Veronica watched her, wide-eyed. "We - we were already across town when we realized the three of you weren't in a cab behind us so we came back. Is she not with you? Is she still asleep?"
When she realized Sabrina wasn't with them, Daphne made a frustrated groan. "No, we already checked all the rooms. We checked nearly this entire castle and she's nowhere here."
A numb buzzing panic took over Puck's entire body and he tried not to full on hyperventilate before he ended up passing out.
Mustardseed stepped away from the group and walked carefully towards him. "I'm sure she's somewhere around here. Did you check-"
"Yes," he cut off, voice sounding a little too loud again. "Trust me, we've checked. We've checked every inch of this godforsaken-"
"There's probably no reason to panic," Henry said before Puck could finish. "She does this - wanders off, investigates on her own. When did you guys see her last? Was she in your guys' room this morning, Daphne?"
Daphne shared a look with Puck.
"No, she wasn't there. Last time I saw her was last night leaving the ball," Daphne said. It technically wasn't a lie.
"Did you try the pixies?" Mustardseed asked, talking more slower and carefully than normal. "It seems they snoop about everywhere, trying to look for gossip. It might be a long shot but we could at least try and see if they've seen her at all."
Of course. Of course calling the pixies is what he should have done. Puck felt like an idiot. His mind hadn't been able to focus on anything else except tearing the entire place apart to find her.
Mustardseed was already raising his flute to his lips before everyone else could even agree. The pixies showed up barely seconds later and Mustardseed regarded them politely. "Pixies, can you help us?"
Their light blinked weakly as they begrudgingly agreed.
"Do you know where Sabrina Grimm has gone? Have you seen anything?"
Immediately, they nearly burst excitedly with bright light, like they were now beyond willing to tell them. They twinkled eagerly in response and Puck felt his face flush, his heart dropping to the floor.
Mustardseed snapped his head to him, eyes wide. His own expression mirrored what Puck was feeling, his eyes darting panicky between Puck and the Grimm family behind him.
Puck sent a desperate plea with his eyes, please don't repeat what they just said. Please lie, please, please say literally anything else.
"Mustardseed? What did they say? Did they see her at all?" Veronica asked, her brow furrowed in confusion and worry.
Mustardseed's eyes finally stopped darting back and forth and stayed on Puck's.
Puck gave the barest shake of his head, pleading as much as he silently could. Mustardseed gave him a painful, apologetic look. "They said..."
"Mustardseed," Puck warned lowly, carefully, fearfully.
He gave him one last 'I'm so sorry' look before turning to the Grimms, head now turned slightly away from them. "They...they said that she was last seen early this morning leaving...leaving Puck's room."
Puck wanted to disappear, he wanted to be struck down right where he stood, he wanted to curl into a ball and die, he wanted to-
"What?!" Henry roared.
Daphne sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose. "God, you two are really really awful at keeping this secret."
"You mean that..." Henry continued, pushing his way to the front, glaring between the three of them. "That she - and you - and - what?!" He was sputtering, red in the face, and Puck couldn't tell if it was pure rage or Henry's own embarrassment.
Puck would have bolted if he wasn't frozen at the spot.
"We-," his voice squeaked and he had to cough before he tried again. "We didn't...nothing happened! I promise!" He raised his hands in defense, finally taking a step back. He was desperately trying not to hide behind Daphne and Mustardseed.
Henry sputtered again, still red, arms waving around madly, seemingly not able to find the words. He gave up and looked hopelessly at his wife.
After a moment Veronica merely sighed and raised a shoulder. "Honey, they're both adults now. We knew that this would most likely happen eventually. And honestly, it was really just a matter of time before-"
"No. No!" Henry started pacing. "I'm not listening to this, I'm not thinking about this, I'm not-" He stopped and put his face in his hands, taking multiple long and deep breaths.
Basil was looking around at everyone, looking confused. "What is everyone-?"
"Don't worry about it," almost everyone said at once.
Puck took a deep breath, choosing his words very carefully. "Okay...yes. We are...dating. But absolutely nothing happened last night! Just normal stuff. Well, not...I mean when I say normal, I don't mean...just...nothing too-"
Veronica cringed slightly while Henry still huffed, eyes closed and face almost purple.
Puck gave a frustrated groan. "Look, can we please talk about this later? Can we please just focus on finding her right now?!"
"Okay, okay," Mustardseed said, raising his hands gently as if consoling a group of small children. "What did you...where were you last before...before where you went next?"
Puck knew he was trying to say anything except 'where were you guys before going into your bedroom' and he appreciated him for it.
"After the banquet, we kinda just...ran around." It sounded like a lame excuse and a lie, even though it was the truth. "We watched some tv, ate snacks, then when to the library upstairs and-." He didn't want to say 'messed around' because he was sure the phrasing would not be taken well.
"-read some." He finished lamely.
"You went to the private library?!" Mustardseed exclaimed.
"It's okay," Puck said, stopping him before he could freak out too much. "We had it locked the whole time. We weren't there long, just explored a little."
Mustardseed squeezed his eyes shut and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Okay, fine, when you were in there did anything seem weird about her? Did she talk about finding anything or going anywhere?"
"No, we actually didn't really talk much about the case. She seemed...well, actually more relaxed than I've seen her in forever."
"And what about when you left?" Mustardseed kept pushing. "After you locked it back? Where'd you put your key?"
"I always keep the key in my nightstand but-." He froze. He tried to think back and piece together what happened. "But...she had the key last. And, actually, I don't think I remember..." He trailed off before sudden realization hit him. "Oh shit."
"What?!" Daphne pressed.
His stomach twisted. "We didn't lock the door," he breathed.
Mustardseed snapped his head up, eyes wide again. "You mean to tell me...that the library - with countless precious magical and historic items - has been unlocked all night long?!"
When Puck couldn't find the words to respond Mustardseed pushed past him and dashed up the steps, and everyone else followed after him.
Puck raced to get his thoughts in order as he thundered up behind him. "But...no. No! The door was locked when I checked earlier today. Which means we must have locked it back at some point last night!"
"Then where's your key?" Mustardseed snapped back.
Puck felt his face flush and held back his reply when he remembered how Sabrina had taunted him by putting it in her pocket.
The others looked slightly confused behind them but continued following Puck and Mustardseed down the main hall upstairs towards the private library doors.
When they reached it, Mustardseed tried the door to confirm it was, indeed, locked, then pulled a small key ring from his pocket. Only a few keys were on it and it didn't take long for him to find the right one. Shoving the key in the lock he quickly unlocked the door and threw it open.
When they rushed in the automated lights switched on above them. And while the others peered around in intrigue, Mustardseed started moving, rushing through the stacks and displays, searching for anything missing or out of place.
"Why would you guys come here in the first place?" Mustardseed asked as he continued searching.
Puck followed after him helplessly. "We were just...exploring! She had been coming here the past few nights anyway-"
"She was?!" Mustardseed exclaimed, stopping in his search.
"It's where she found the book!" Puck explained. "The book with the story? The thing that set off our first and only real possible lead?"
The others had finally caught up with them and Veronica cleared her throat gently to get their attention. "Boys...please tell us - what are you talking about? What did she find? What was she doing coming here?"
Puck, Mustardseed, and Daphne all shared a look.
"Well." Daphne crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow. "Do you two want to explain or should I?"
~/~/~
When Sabrina came to, she groggily tried to rub the sleep from her eyes but found she couldn't move her arms.
Blinking awake with a start, she pulled harder and found that her wrists were tied tightly behind her. Looking down, she saw another rope tied around her waist. Her brain felt foggy and confused for only a few more moments before recent events started coming back to her.
She started taking in her surrounding, barely thinking to stay quiet in case there was someone else around that she couldn't see. The room she was in wasn't extremely small, but the amount of stuff that was shoved around her and the tables loaded with clutter made it feel much smaller. The light was dim and she wasn't sure if it was because she was still waking up or if the room was really that gloomy.
Finally, in the dimness, she found Peaseblossom hunched over one of the tables, her back turned to her. She couldn't see what Peaseblossom was hunched over but she doubted it was anything good.
She took a few more moments for her brain to focus and think up a plan, then cleared her throat.
Peaseblossom didn't show much reaction but did place down whatever she was working on with a light thud. "Morning," she said calmly over her shoulder as if greeting a friend coming in for breakfast. "Sleep well?"
"I've had better nights," Sabrina said back just as easily.
Peaseblossom didn't respond and Sabrina felt a stab of irritation. "Where am I? What do you want? You could've asked nicely instead of knocking me out, ya know."
Peaseblossom barely glanced over her shoulder and continued working.
For a moment, there was only the sound of quiet clinking from whatever she was doing before Sabrina continued. "I will say, you had me. I really thought you were some poor, shy, incompetent girl. You're a good actress."
"Why, thank you," Peaseblossom said, still not turning towards her. "I wish I could say the same to you."
Sabrina bristled. "And what's that supposed to mean?"
Peaseblossom sighed and then finally turned to look at her, still blocking Sabrina's view of what she was working on. "Do you know just how easy it was to figure you out? How quick you were to wander away from the rest to try and play hero? I figured out about you and Puck by day two."
Finally. Talking. Sabrina thought.
"It's been you," she said with a fake gasp she hoped sounded genuine. "The sprites in Times Square, the godparents attacking us, the lights and music - how do you do it? How did you mess with their heads?"
Peaseblossom gave a sharp, short laugh and started to turn back around. Sabrina frantically tried to think.
"This couldn't all have been you, though," she blurted. "Those brownies in Central Park were mechanical. Not your MO."
Peaseblossom stopped and faced her again. "You think I'm incapable of obtaining simple robots? All it took was a slight change of pace to get you guys onto the Oz trail. It was almost embarrassingly easy, really." She moved away to a table nearby to look for something else and Sabrina took the chance to examine the table behind her. Vials of liquids covered the surface, along with the remains of the plant that they had been given by Gothel.
"Playing with poisons, are we?" Sabrina guessed. "I gotta say, pretty typical of you fairies at this point." Sabrina saw Peaseblossom smile and was again blown away by just how different she looked by just standing straighter and holding her chin higher.
When she didn't say anything, Sabrina kept pushing. "Who's it for? If it's for me, I hate to tell you but you're not the first one to try."
Peaseblossom shrugged with one shoulder, lips drawn tight with a smirk, moving back to her chemistry-looking set.
"What did you mean?" Sabrina kept pushing, trying to pull out everything she could think of to get the girl to keep talking. "Before, when you said "it doesn't work on you", what did you mean?"
Peaseblossom stopped and turned back again and Sabrina saw the silent, amused expression she was giving.
Sabrina used all her willpower to not roll her eyes. "I already know it's all been you using forbidden magic, so just tell me - what did you mean?" She wasn't actually completely certain if she was right, but she tried to sound as confident as she could anyway.
Peaseblossom finally sighed and turned away from her again. "You're here," she said, not even bothering to look at her anymore, "because my magic doesn't work on you for some reason. So, until either you tell me why, or I figure it out myself, you're staying...right...here." She slowed her words, whether for annoying effect or because she was focused on something else, Sabrina didn't know and didn't care.
"So, you're just gonna leave me here?" Sabrina asked, raising an eyebrow. "You do realize everyone else is going to realize I'm gone and come looking for me, right?"
Peaseblossom didn't say anything right away, just hummed and chuckled amusingly. "Maybe," she said, like it was a joke, then turned away from the table and faced Sabrina again, holding a vial filled with a bight cloudy liquid in one hand and a dark, sparkling stick in the other. "Or maybe not."
She smiled fully and made her way toward Sabrina. She braced herself for something, but Peaseblossom only went swiftly by in front of her, barely sending her a glance. Sabrina followed every move she made carefully with her eyes.
"You're planning something," she said. It was a statement, not a question. "What's in that vial?"
"So many questions," Peaseblossom mused. "So, so curious."
"It's almost like I'm a detective."
Peaseblossom chuckled. "True, but it's not like you're leaving anytime soon to figure it out."
"Maybe," Sabrina shrugged one shoulder up as best she could while tied up. "Or maybe not."
Sabrina couldn't see her face but Peaseblossom went quiet and continued moving, picking up more items from amongst the clutter. She tucked everything but the glimmering stick carefully into a small bag tied to her hip.
When she raised the stick to her lips, Sabrina finally realized what it was.
Peaseblossom's flute looked nothing like Puck's or Mustardseed's. While theirs were small, wooden, and simple looking, hers was pure black, shimmering slightly and enchanting to look at.
Peaseblossom played a tune that was much slower and ominous than anything she had heard Puck play and she immediately felt a quick rush of dizziness and fogginess. The feeling vanished almost as quickly as it came.
Sabrina expected a small horde of pixies to come flying in, but none came. Instead, Peaseblossom just hummed again, sounding interested. "Still nothing," she finally sighed, putting the flute into her pouch on her hip and digging around for something else. It took Sabrina a second before she realized she was talking about her.
Peaseblossom stopped digging around in her bag and finally pulled out a small handful of dust that Sabrina now recognized.
"Oh, come on, not again-" she started saying, but Peaseblossom was already crossing to her and blew the dust gently into her face sending her back into darkness.
When she woke up again Peaseblossom was gone.
This time at least, Sabrina figured, she woke up feeling much less groggy. Whether because Peaseblossom had used less dust or because this magic was just another thing that Sabrina was growing resistant to, she didn't know. But it didn't take long for her to shake it off and get to work.
Sabrina could tell Peaseblossom had gotten so comfortable using magic that she never learned how to kidnap someone right without it. She wiggled her hands easily out of the bounds that she had started loosening while the girl had her back turned and untied the ropes around her waist.
She actually felt a tad offended.
Sabrina could at least give Peaseblossom a little bit of credit - she knew not to monologue at least. Although, Sabrina could have done with getting a bit more information off of her.
Maybe she needed to work on her scared victim act.
Peaseblossom's biggest mistake, though, was leaving her in her room with no supervision. Getting up and brushing dirt off Puck's hoodie and pajama pants she was still wearing, she started what she did best.
Snooping.
She headed first towards the table Peaseblossom had been working at. On one side was a pile of dozens of empty vials. On the other side, the vials that weren't empty were different weird shapes and filled with various colored and cloudy liquids.
Not trusting her knowledge of potions or poisons enough she didn't open any of them and instead grabbed a small vial that was half empty and carefully pocketed it.
Pushing onward, she examined the rest of the room that she hadn't been able to see while tied to the chair. In one corner was a small cot pushed haphazardly against the wall. There was more junk and other clutter around to signal that the girl had been living here for a while.
So not only did this girl leave me unsupervised, Sabrina thought, she left me unsupervised in her room.
God, were fairies vain.
She moved to the other table against the opposite wall and started rifling through the mountain of things piled on it. She found her poor beautiful dress from last night shoved amongst everything else, effectively ruined, but nothing else of interest - just trash and junk and other things that didn't prove much help.
Disgruntled, she huffed and hit the edge of the table out of frustration, sending some of the piles crashing to the ground. She moved to step away from the table but then looked up and saw a poster on the wall above it.
At first, she thought that it was some weird piece of art, lines and boxes of different sizes covering the paper. Then she squinted and took a step closer and realized it wasn't a poster at all, but a large blueprint of some building. She tried to study what the building layout was of but couldn't read much with the dim lighting.
Peaseblossom was going to know Sabrina had gotten out of her bounds anyway, so she reached up and carefully pulled the blueprint off the wall, making sure not to tear any of it.
Pushing the remaining items on the table away and onto the floor, she spread the paper out flat and hunched over a bit to study the print closer.
It seemed to be a layout of a really big house with multiple rooms and open spaces. Nothing really seemed to be out of the ordinary though, and Sabrina started wondering what was so important about it that Peaseblossom would hang it on her wall. The only things that stood out were the lines and arrows drawn through what looked like the hallways, connecting and flowing into each other between the rooms.
Something about it stood out to Sabrina that she couldn't quite place. She leaned in closer. She knew those hallway corners, the lines defining the rooms, the twists and turns, and the large section in the back of the first floor behind the drawn stairs -
The realization made her freeze - this was a blueprint of the mansion. She could now immediately place the exact room where she and Daphne were staying in downstairs, Puck's room upstairs, and both of the boys' studies on the bottom right. The only difference between this paper layout and the actual layout she knew of the mansion was the extra hallways and rooms around the edges that Sabrina was sure didn't exist.
She rolled the map up and shoved in it her hoodie pocket. She had to get out of here and find the others. Moving to the center of the room and doing a second glance over to see if there was anything else of interest to look through, she started looking for the way out.
The panic started to finally rise when she couldn't find a single door or window out.
She pushed the feelings down, trying to stay calm and keep her head clear. Obviously, there had to be some way out. How else would Peaseblossom have left?
Making sure the map and vial were still securely in her pockets, she went to the section of wall in the only place in the room there wasn't clutter. Looking closer, she felt along and looked for any hinge or evidence of a seam.
Her hand caught on a latch.
Quickly flicking it open, the edges became apparent and a hidden panel swung open into what looked like a long, dark passageway. She pushed the panel door open farther and peered her head into the passageway, looking for any sign of a person or exit.
Finding nothing, she considered an idea that had just popped into her head and took a step back. She pulled the blueprint out of her pocket again and unrolled it, scanning the unknown lines and boxes that outlined the rooms she was familiar with. If she was right, the long connection of hallways had to be hidden around the exterior, completely encircling the actual building which meant -
She was still in the mansion.
She frantically searched the connection of passages on the page but had no idea of where she actually was in comparison. Peaseblossom could have taken her anywhere and with the long, twisting hidden halls, she could be absolutely anywhere in the walls.
Which meant she would just have to take the passage and see where it went.
Clutching the blueprint, she stepped up into the hall and started walking, attempting to see if any of the twists and turns matched something on the page.
Eventually, the light from the room behind her was gone entirely and she couldn't see the map at all. She put it back in her pocket and reached a hand out to feel her way through, keeping one hand on the wall at all times.
When she reached the end, she nearly walked into it face-first.
She fumbled a bit backward and was about to turn around and retrace her steps back the way she came when she heard voices.
Halting, she quickly put an ear to the wall and listened. It sounded like at least three different voices were talking and she couldn't tell whether or not they sounded angry or not.
She pulled back and started running her hands along the wall, looking for any sign of a handle or indication that this was anything other than a dead end. Finally, she felt a small latch in the top left corner. She checked and found another opposite it on the right.
She flicked them up with a click.

"So, you're telling me-," Henry said, "that not only were you two dating, but Sabrina not only had a lead, but was also going off on her own to investigate, and you two ended up dragging both Mustardseed and Daphne along with you across town to interview the family of a murderer - all without telling us?"
Puck opened and closed his mouth a few times and scratched the back of his head self-consciously. "Um yeah that's ah…that's pretty much it."
"And now she's missing," Henry concluded.
"And now she's missing," Puck confirmed, trying not to pace and instead running a hand exasperated through his hair.
"And there's no telling where she is and we have no idea where to start," Daphne said, a hand pushing at her temple. "I mean, it's New York City. There's no way we'll be able to track her down with so few leads. I mean, we have to start considering that maybe Sabrina-"
"Maybe I what?"
Puck spun around along with everyone else and immediately assumed he was hallucinating.
Unbelievably, Sabrina herself had appeared out of nowhere.
His brain short-circuited, trying to comprehend whether or not this was real as Sabrina stepped carefully out of what he now saw was actually an opening in the wall that he was sure had not been there before. She had barely climbed out before his feet were moving on their own accord.
When he reached her, she didn't have the chance to say anything else before he was wrapping his arms around her and pulled her against him, feeling the warm, solid, realness of her.
Sabrina let out a small oof sound, but returned the embrace, letting out a small laugh. "Hi. Did you miss me that much?"
He was acting on mainly instinct alone when he pulled back only to lean in again and kiss her deeply, desperately, not bothering to respond.
She gasped in surprise but kissed him back anyway. It didn't last long though until he pulled away again to cradle her face and look her up and down.
"Are you okay? Where did you go? Are you hurt?"
"I'm fine, I'm fine!" She took his hand away from her cheek. She didn't seem hurt at least, but her eyes were bright and shining and she was using her excited 'I found something' voice. "Where's Peaseblossom?"
"What? I don't know, why would that matter right now? Where were you?"
"She's it," she continued, still not answering him and instead squeezing his hand. "She's the one who's been causing everything and I found-" She stopped when she finally looked away from him and saw the rest of her family behind him.
Her eyes widened and she started to pull away from him but he grabbed her hand and pulled her back before she got too far away. "Grimm, it's...it's okay. They-" he sighed, trying not to cringe. "They know."
Her eyes were still wide and he saw her face flush. "About...?"
"Yep."
When he gained the courage to look back, he saw Henry, now just slightly less red-faced, pinching the bridge of his nose and Veronica holding a hand to her heart, looking at them admiringly. Both at least looked relieved and much calmer.
Daphne ran up next and wrapped her arms around Sabrina and she returned the hug with one arm. Puck still couldn't bring himself to let go of her other hand.
"You're okay!" Daphne cried. "God, we were worried sick, where were you?"
"Where's Peaseblossom?" Sabrina said again, pulling away.
"I don't know. Why?"
"It's her," Sabrina said again, excitedly. "Everything. The attacks, the magic, the messing with people's heads - it's her."
"What? How do you know?" Veronica asked, stepping towards her.
"She's the one who took me," Sabrina explained. "She blew some dust on me to knock me out because she said her magic doesn't work on me for some reason. But, like an idiot, she left me tied up in her room, so I was able to get at some info."
"How much were you able to get off her? Did she monologue?" Daphne asked as if this kind of thing was a normal occurrence.
"Unfortunately, no. I wasn't able to get a whole ton out of her. But she did confirm - it's not Oz." She didn't say it in an 'I told you so' way, more of a matter-of-fact way, and continued. "And she's been the one with the lights and the music. She has this different style of flute, and I've never seen anything like it before. And she had these vials of-"
"Where does this go?" Daphne interrupted, peering down at the long dark nothingness that Sabrina came from.
"Oh yeah!" Sabrina exclaimed. "And I found this."
She finally let go of his hand and reached into her pocket (a jolt went through him when he realized it was his hoodie that she was still wearing) and pulled out a rolled-up paper. As she was unrolling it, though, he heard Mustardseed make a kind of confused, strangled noise.
"Wait. You said that this was...that it was all...Peaseblossom?" Mustardseed's voice was small and he was staring at some spot on the floor. Puck couldn't help but feel a little sorry for him. He knew just how much his brother had come to admire their mother's assistant. "But that can't be. She...she's not..."
Sabrina stopped unrolling the paper and gave him a pitiful look. "I'm sorry, Mustardseed, but...it was definitely her. She more than less confessed it was all her. Which is why we have to find her. She's planning something. And she had these vials of something that can't be good and she could be absolutely anywhere because-," she held up the paper again but Mustardseed stopped her.
"But if it really is Peaseblossom," he said, eyes widening, "then..."
"Mustardseed?" Veronica asked, starting towards him, outstretching a comforting hand. "I'm so sorry, I can't imagine just how-."
Suddenly it clicked in Puck's head, too. "Wait, since Peaseblossom's…then who's..."
"What? What's wrong?" Daphne asked, looking at them back and forth, confused.
Puck and Mustardseed locked eyes with the same terrifying realization.
"Titania."
