–WFI–Chapter 14 Sunday, August 1
Everyone was slowly getting up Sunday morning. They needed to pack up what they were taking back to Hartford. Rory was sitting on the deck. This would be the last time for a while. She had her iPad opened to her calendar and a to-do list. When she returned to Harford she had to get started on finalizing the wedding. Everything was picked out. Dresses ordered, just needed final fitting. Flowers order.
She was paying a wedding planner a lot of money to get this right. Logan was upset with her because she insisted on helping the wedding planner. She was using a different one than she used for the engagement party. Sookie is catering, that is one thing she didn't have to worry about.
They had Logan's, rather HPG's apartment as well as Mitchum's, available for out-of-town guests. Finn reserved 2 suites at the Morgan downtown. The reception will be held in the ballroom of the Morgan. The wedding will take place around the pool at Logan and Rory's. This was Karson and Ricky's request. Separate invitations went out. Some for the wedding and reception, some for just the reception.
Brenda, Ricky's mom will be coming on Friday of this week. That will be one whole week before the wedding. Logan interrupts Rory's thoughts. "Hey, when do you want to leave?" Logan asked. "If we leave here in time to catch the 12:00 ferry, we can eat lunch on the ferry and should be home by 3 or 3:30,"
She smiled "Okay, then that is the plan. Think you can put the boys in high gear?" Rory asked. Logan nodded. Logan left Rory to finish up her to-do list.
Katie and Sharon arrived at the house around 11:00. Everyone else left to catch the 10:00 ferry. Ricky was loading Karson's car when the cab pulled up. "Ricky? Is that you?" Sharon asked.
Ricky stood up. "It's me. Didn't realize you would be stopping by. Come on in, I'll get Karson." Ricky said as he headed into the house. "Karson," He yelled. "Your mom and Sharon are here."
Rory came out of the kitchen. "Hey, didn't realize you would be stopping by," Rory said.
"Yeah, that seems to be what everyone thinks," Sharon said as she headed to the living room to sit down. Logan came out of the office when he heard the commotion. She saw Ricky standing at the bottom of the stairs.
"Hey, did you already pack up the Zurich file?" Logan asked.
"Yes, sir. It is in my messenger bag, do you need it?" Ricky asked.
"No, just making sure we take it back with us." Logan told him. Ricky nodded. He cut his eye toward the living room. Logan moved to the left of Ricky so he could see in the living room. There sat Sharon in a pair of cut-off blue jeans and a tank top. Logan raised an eyebrow at Ricky, he shook his head no. Logan was trying not to laugh.
"Hey, what are you laughing at?" Karson asked. Ricky rolled his eyes and then cut them to the living room. When Karson looked in, she started laughing and had to go back upstairs.
Rory and Katie were in the kitchen. "What could be so funny?" she asked Katie. "I don't know."
Logan walked into the kitchen. "The boys are packing up what they want to take back with them. Em is trying to get all her Barbie stuff packed. I told her to put it all in her Barbie suitcase. So now she is unpacking everything so she can repack." Logan told Rory.
"Does this mean we are not going to make the 12:00 ferry?" She asked.
"No," Logan said. "We are going to make that ferry." Logan kissed her cheek, spoke to Katie, and headed to Em's room to help.
"We won't stay long, I just wanted to speak with Karson before we left," Katie said.
Karson heard her. "I'm right here Moma," Karson said as she sat at the kitchen bar.
Katie stood up and hugged her. "I'm proud of you." Katie said.
"Thank you Moma," Karson replied
"I just wanted to tell you that I don't think I will be able to come to the wedding." She told Karson.
"Why? You live in New York. It is just a 3-hour train ride. The tickets are less than $30. If you need the money, I can buy the round trip tickets for you." Karson said.
"No, No, I don't want you to spend your hard-earned money on a train ticket for me," Katie said.
"It would be nice if you could come to the wedding, but if you can't, I guess I will just have to adjust." Karson said with a sad smile. She wasn't sure why she was sad. She knew her mother was trying to get money out of someone. Probably wants Rory to put her up for the week.
"Hey, Karson, Can I see you in the office for a minute?" Rory asked. When they stepped into the office Rory closed the door.
Before she could say anything, Karson spoke up "No, you are not inviting her to stay the week with us. I need you and your help. I would be nice if she would play nice, but we both know that she is trying to guilt you into asking her." Karson said with her hands on her hips.
Rory nodded. "Okay," Rory said. "Like you said, it's a 3 hour train ride. The tickets are under $30." Karson nodded
When they got back in the kitchen, Sharon was standing in front of the refrigerator with the door open looking in. Karson was embarrassed. Rory not so much. "Sharon, if you see something you want, take it. The cleaning crew will be here tomorrow and they will remove anything that will spoil before we get back, which will probably not be before Labor day." Rory said.
Sharon slammed the door. "No, I'm fine," she said.
Rory smiled at her. "I don't mean to hurry you along, but we are leaving in a few minutes. We want to be able to catch the noon ferry. Do you need a ride to the airport? Is Henry back at the hotel waiting on you?" Rory asked.
"Yes, we need to go," Katie said and kissed Karson on the cheek. "Baby, I am proud of you, and congratulations." Karson smiled at her. "And Rory, thank you for all you do for my baby. I really do appreciate it."
Rory nodded. "No Problem"
Logan and Ricky both pulled up on the ferry and parked. Everyone got out of the cars and went to sit at one of the picnic tables on the ferry. Ricky and Logan went to order lunch.
