–WFI–Chapter 16 Thursday, August 5
Logan was working from home today. He was babysitting. Well, he was keeping an eye on the boys. Rory, Cynthia, Honor, Gigi, Karson, Amanda, Jessi, and Em are meeting the seamstress from the bridal shop for their dress fittings at the Huntzburger Penthouse in New York. They planned to go shopping after the fitting. Rory was having lunch catered.
Amanda, one of Karson's close friends, is also a teacher at Chilton, arrived about 8:30. Evelyn let her in and showed her to the living room. Rory was in the pool house with Karson trying to find her something to wear.
Will and Chris came barreling down the stairs, stopped long enough to say hi to Amanda, then headed downstairs to play a video game. She could hear Logan yelling from the office for them to stop running in the house. Amanda just smiled. Karson has told her stories of the chaos in this house.
Honor and Cynthia came busting in the front door. Honor calling for Rory and Karson. Frank had pulled up behind them. Logan came out of the office. "What is all the yelling for?" He asked Honor.
"I am trying to get your wife and daughters to come on. Frank's here." Honor told him.
Jessi came in behind her. "Logan you have known her longer, You know she is a loudmouth," Jessi said and stuck her tongue out at Honor.
Honor put her hands on her hips. "Listen here little sister, you are a brat and I shall treat you as one." Honor said.
Cynthia looked at her. "You know that means giving in to everything she wants?" Jessi and Honor both started laughing.
"Cynthia, did you let them open the champion this early?" Logan asked.
"No, just a little sister being a brat," Cynthia said.
"She should be used to it by now, she has put up with you longer than me." Jessi said.
"Hey, no brother-sister-sister-brother arguing or you three will be babysitting all your nephews and niece. See what it's like to actually have siblings arguing." Rory said.
"Everyone ready to go?" Honor said. "Frank is here."
"Let me call Amanda, get an ETA," Karson said. About that time they all turned to look in the living room when Amanda's phone started ringing. They all lost it. Rory had to sit down on the steps, Honor was holding on to the staircase railing, everyone else was bent over laughing.
They all got settled into the limo. Frank asked if they needed to make any stops before hitting the interstate. With a firm no, Frank put up the partition and drove through the gate. Jill was riding shotgun. Rory and Cynthia knew she was up there, but the rest of the crew did not.
They laughed and talked. Karson and Amanda told stories of her and Ricky in college. Honor and Rory told stories of their college experience. This morning was getting off to a good start. Before they knew it, Rory could see the New York skyline. Frank parked in the underground parking. He and Jill helped the ladies get their belongings to the penthouse. Frank told Rory and Honor just to call when they got ready. He left and Rory went to the phone on the wall and called down to the lobby.
"Hey, Jeffery, this is Rory Huntzburger….yes. Wonderful. And you?... Tell her I said congratulations…...yes you can. There will be a few ladies with several dresses. They will be looking for the penthouse. We are having Karson's final dress fitting… Great. Thank Jeffery." She hung up. Karson walked over to her.
"You forgot to tell him the Moma was coming also." Rory smiled. She picked the phone back up and told him that Katie would be looking for them also.
Honor and Cynthia went into hostess mode. They were getting everyone bottles of water. Jessi turned the stereo on for music. The girls started dancing around, singing into hair brushes and bottles of water. Everyone was taking pictures. Rory had bought several disposable cameras and they were laying around everywhere. Karson grabbed her phone out of her pocket and headed to the office so she could hear. It was her mother. She was just walking into the building. Karson told her to tell Jeffrey she was looking for her and he would instruct her. She then went to call Jeffery to tell him to show her mother up.
When Karson opened the door, it was Katie and 3 seamstresses with a dress rack. "I almost didn't make it into the elevator," Katie said, hugging Karson.
"Come on in. Everyone's In the living room. Jessi, turn it down. Our ladies are here." Rory said.
The ladies got to work making sure the dresses all fit. Everyone was joking and having a good time. Katie was amazed at how at ease Karson was in this environment. After everything was packed up and the ladies were ready to leave, the carters showed up with the food. They had sandwiches and cookies, potato salad, chicken salad, and a variety of vegetables. Everyone sat down and ate.
After they finished eating, they all loaded up and went to 5th Ave. Honor, Rory, and Cynthia helped Karson pick out some lingerie for the honeymoon. They were all picking on her because Ricky wouldn't tell her where they were going.
After a full day in New York, the girls settled back in the limo, and Frank and Jill took them back to Hartford. They dropped Katie off at her apartment. Karson gave her the two train tickets and told her that a room will be waiting for her either at the Morgan, they had two suites reserved with a total of 5 bedrooms or a room in one of the apartments. She asked about a dress to wear. Karson told her that she would have to borrow a dress from one of her friends or buy one. She told her it didn't have to be an expensive dress, as long as it was neat.
